About Freeman Recovery Center

Freeman Recovery Center is an addiction treatment center situated in Dickson, Tennessee. They offer their residents a series of therapeutic treatment methods and a wide range of counseling options. To start, their levels of care include residential treatment and a variety of outpatient programs, ranging from standard outpatient care to intensive outpatient care and even a partial hospitalization program. They also provide detox services if you need it before entering their program. When detoxing, you may need medication assisted treatment, which they also provide, in order to come off your drug or alcohol addiction with as little withdrawal symptoms as possible. Often, these symptoms can become unbearably discomforting or even dangerous. Their program also offers medication management in order to make sure you’re always on the right medication and taking the right dosage. This is also a dual diagnosis center, so you’ll be able to get help if you have any mental health issues that are occurring in relation to your drug or alcohol addiction.

When it comes to their counseling services, they provide some standard services such as individual therapy and group therapy, under treatment modalities like cognitive behavioral therapy. If you’re interested in a more holistic approach, they also offer services like yoga, meditation and nutrition counseling. Their residential program ranges from their shortest short term program which lasts seven days, to their longest long term program, lasting 180 days. There seems to be something for everyone here, and certainly plenty to benefit from whether you require inpatient or outpatient care.

I entrusted Freeman with my recovery and they didn't drop the ball, albeit me being near incorrigible. The staff went over and above and painstakingly laid the groundwork for me to walk in the hallowed footprints of true recovery. I'm now thriving in sober living and utilizing spiritual principals reinforced at Freeman to stay clean. Thank you

Accepted Insurance

Freeman Recovery Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. The length of stay at the detoxification program is determined according to the specific needs of the patient.
12-step icon12-Step
When enrolld in an addiction recovery program that's based on the 12 step model, clients are able to cultivate recovery-focused life skills emphasizing spiritual, mental, and emotional healing. Participants receive intensive peer support in 12 step meetings, which are anonymous, free, open to the public, and available day and night in most communities. Self-selected sponsors guide sponsees through the recovery journey, cultivating self-awareness, forgiveness, acceptance, and accountability. Though these programs are rooted in spiritual principles, participants aren't required to be religiously affiliated.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is an intensive outpatient option for those with moderate to severe addictions, allowing you to return home at the end of the day. It can be an alternative to hospitalization or used as a step-down option. PHP treatment requires a minimum of 20 hours of treatment per week for an average of 90 days. Depending on your needs, PHP treatment includes relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy services. PHP treatment is often covered by providers.
telehealth iconTelehealth
Telehealth is a universal term to describe the broad range of applications that use telecommunications technology to deliver healthcare services. It encompasses multiple disciplines, including counseling, home health, disease monitoring, and physical therapy.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
Safe detox requires 24-hour clinical care in Tennessee. This is due to the health risks that are involved during withdrawal. As the brain reacts to the absence of the drug, severe symptoms can occur, depending on the type of drug used. For instance, alcohol and benzodiazepine withdrawal may result in seizures. Fortunately, supervised care in a clinical setting can provide the necessary treatment to avoid health risks and allow you to complete detox safely.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When your day-to-day life is taken over by drug use, this is known as substance use disorder. If you abruptly stop using your drug of choice, you experience withdrawal symptoms. To overcome this cycle, professional drug rehab in Tennessee is usually needed.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy is a safe place to work through the lingering effects of traumatic events in your life. Your therapist will help you understand the physical and emotional responses that can develop after witnessing or experiencing a traumatic event. You then work toward developing healthier coping mechanisms to reduce your symptoms.

Typical cognitive behavioral therapy in Tennessee involves recognizing negative thinking and learning techniques to change that thinking and create new, positive behaviors. Strategies may include SMART goals, journaling, and situation exposure.

Counseling in Tennessee that takes a dialectical behavior therapy approach can last from six to 12 months. During that time, you'll develop skills in the areas of distress tolerance, mindfulness, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.

If you participate in motivational interviewing in Tennessee, your therapist will focus on four key strategies: open questions, affirmation, reflections, and summarizing. Rather than confront or warn you to change, the clinician will allow you to explore your own motivations and decide what changes you may need to make in your life.

My son went there after being on an ankle monitor and in jail and completely sober for over two months they let him run out of his mental health meds within the first week then they put him on Suboxone, the controlled substance and addictive substance when he had been clean for months Fast-forward to February 24. My son is dead because of the issues that they didn't help with they only made them worse when they put him back on Suboxone for no apparent reason.

Freeman recovery has been a God sent to my family. My husband is currently there and is now in IOP and I can truly from the bottom of my heart say thank you. He has been to many facilities and this has been the best one, there is such a difference we see in him. He has truly worked the program and loves himself again. We were at a point to where we almost had nowhere else to go and this place saved his life and our family. Everyone there from the van drivers on up to the top have been wonderful. If you are reading this and looking for hope, come here, work the program and I promise you that you will get exactly that, HOPE. Thank you again from our family and for giving us our husband and dad back.

I had a pocketknife that was gifted to my dad when he was a boy and in turn, gifted to me. They lost it as well as every other piece of property they checked in. Keep in mind we have a 9 inch chef knife in every kitchen and a full knife set.

I spent weeks tirelessly trying to get my mother into treatment here, dedicating 2-4+ hours every single day to ensuring medical records were sent and obtaining clearance. At first, she was denied for needing a higher level of mental health care and told to reapply to Freeman. So, we got her into Parkwood, but they wouldn’t take her inpatient because they said she was stable. We had her updated records sent over to Freeman, and after days and days of back-and-forth, she was denied again. Time is absolutely vital when someone is sick and ready to seek help. Every day that passes increases the risk of relapse or something worse happening. An addiction center should understand this urgency, but Freeman Recovery Center operated with no rush or sense of urgency and wasted so much valuable time. Don’t advertise yourselves as a dual diagnosis treatment center and give families false confidence that you can help, only to deny someone after weeks of the intake process. A single nurse looking over medical records shouldn’t be the sole decision-maker, especially after an intake interview and so much back-and-forth effort. My mother is devastated after being denied the help she so desperately wanted. I can’t imagine how much harder this process must be for people who don’t have family advocating for them every step of the way. Weeks of time wasted, and now we’re left with heartbreak and frustration. Shame on Freeman Recovery Center and shame on the entire mental health care system for failing those who need help the most.
