About Omega Recovery

Omega Recovery Services is an accredited dual diagnosis outpatient treatment center in Austin, Texas. Located on Evergreen Avenue, it’s just minutes away from Zilker Botanical Garden, the Colorado River, and all the exciting activities in Downtown Austin. The facility helps individuals recover from addictions to substances and technology.

Intensive Therapies for Long Term Sobriety

Clients will have a selection of helpful therapies to receive in the intensive outpatient program. The counselors will utilize evidence based treatment such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy. You’ll learn coping skills to manage your stress and develop motivation to change your behavior.

Some additional unique therapeutic approaches that I like they provide are Japanese Karate, somatic therapy, and nature immersion. These treatments can benefit you by showing you new activities to manage your stress and find enjoyment in life.

You can continue your enjoyment of nature outside of treatment sessions by visiting local nature areas in town, such as the Mckinney Falls State Park. The facility also offers yoga 12 step education and mindfulness meditation as treatment options. The various substance use addictions that Omega Recovery Services treats include addictions to alcohol, opioids, and illicit substances.

Gaining Relief From Tech Addiction

In addition to receiving treatment for substance use disorder, the facility also offers assistance to individuals who are addicted to technology. These can include addictions to online pornography, social media and cell phones. Clients will participate in a digital detox and work with a masters level therapist to uncover the underlying cause of their issues.

Getting into recovery is scary, but with my experience at omega it completely changed my life. I went from having the worst thoughts possible to now being able to handle my emotions with new skills and tools provided by clinicians and therapists. They even got my medication stable to where I can function day to day with no problem. The people I want to thank are Ela (Psychiatrist) , Kales (Therapist), And the best techs ever Kasja, Jackson, Heather and Chase .

When I found Omega, I was desperate for help. I’m a single mom, and had just taken my partner to a treatment center of his own. I spent the first week or so of being here insisting that it wasn’t gonna work, just seeing as I’ve been in and out of treatment for 11 years now. But, I’ve been here 4 weeks today and I’m so much farther now than I ever thought I could be. I have to thank all the staff for their continued support and encouragement, and even patience, while I’ve struggled and fought to get to where I am now. I’m on track to get back to my kids and I’m so looking forward to “restarting” my life now that I’m healthier mentally than I’ve felt in, quite honestly, as long as I can remember. Words will never quite be able to describe or express my gratitude towards Omega and its staff for all the love they’ve shown to me and everyone else I’ve met since I got here. I’ve been able to speak with my kids on a semi-consistent basis, my therapist has been so supportive and helpful, and everyone has been able to sit down and listen/talk with me when I need it. I can’t think of a better center than here for my situation as a parent with two little ones at home. They’re my reason for coming here and all the staff have been so understanding about that, and have used my love for them to push me to do better and BE better so I can go home and truly be the mother my babies deserve.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

When my family dropped me off at Omega Recovery with 14 years sober, I wasn't sure I was in the right place. I knew I hated myself on a very deep level and was suffering from crippling panic attacks. The staff was very welcoming and the people whom I didn't know from Adam would soon become like family in some way. We got up everyday and made our own food, did our own laundry, and had to take care of ourselves vs. the traditional rehabilitation experience where it can feel like a catered event. I showed up here a broken man with many questions and no answers. I am so thankful that my Therapist was in the room when I would talk because she would listen to what I said closely. I openly admitted to her that my actions were that of someone who would be classified as insane, and she was thankful she didn't even have to convince me of it. I emerged myself in this program and the work and I get out of it what I put into it everyday. The skills I've learned here coupled with the actions I am taking on a daily basis are truly making a difference in my thought life. I will forever be grateful for every Technician, Staff member, Therapist & Director at Omega Recovery. They helped me cross the threshold and helped alter the course of my life. If you're reading this, I hope you don't hesitate to come here and try to overcome whatever obstacle is in your way. It has worked for me.
