I’ve had such a positive experience with the New Braunfels VA. From the moment I walked in, the nurses and staff made me feel like more than just a patient—they genuinely care about my well-being. They take the time to listen, explain things clearly, and make sure I feel comfortable every step of the way. It’s clear that their priority is not just my health, but also my peace of mind. I truly appreciate their kindness and dedication, and I always leave feeling supported and cared for.

The Windmill Wellness Ranch is an inpatient rehab and recovery center located close to San Antonio in Canyon Lake, Texas. Here, they treat adults with substance use and co-occurring (dual diagnosis) disorders. If you’re a veteran then it’s good to know that the center is in-network with TRICARE insurance. They also accept most major insurance.
Sadly, Windmill now is allowing previous employees to post reviews. This troubles me. My initial review was heartfelt and honest. It upsets me that Windmill is doing this. Windmill used to be better than this. Perhaps it has to do with the new ownership.

The staff at Ripple were an incredible group of people! They were all incredibly loving, caring, and supportive. If you’re considering rehab or have questions about it, I highly recommend Ripple. They changed my life. It wasn’t an overnight transformation, but they helped me sober up and discover the root cause of my addiction. After 15 years of hard-core drug use, I’ve quit several times, but always relapsed after a few weeks. However, I’ve been sober since I left Ripple and now have a completely different perspective on life. If you’re on the fence about rehab , I wholeheartedly recommend Ripple. You won’t regret it.

It’s hard to put into words the amount of gratitude I feel for Robert Kidd & “the Room” @ Positive Recovery, but I will give it my best shot. After finding myself at an ultimate low & loosing nearly everything that ever mattered to me in life, I found myself sitting in what we call “the room”. Robert asked me a question that I had no idea wld be the start of a new & beautiful journey…. “Who is Kat?” Take away the kids, the marriage, the job, etc…most of which I had lost at that point anyway - who was I, at my core? I had absolutely no idea - but thankfully, I had a willingness & a safe place to find out. Thru some really challenging assignments & sitting in the room w/ others who were willing to open up & share things we probably wldn’t otherwise talk about…I found myself doing the same. In doing so, I have been able to let go of things I didn’t even realize I had been holding onto & have rediscovered who I AM. It’s a special room & To say that I’m grateful is a serious understatement. Everyday is a gift 🙏 I realize that more today than ever. #soberaf #onedayatatime

I hope this review reaches you when you’re feeling like you’ve tried everything and nothing has worked. If that’s where you are, know that PRC will give you the help you need, and Robert Kidd is in the business of the highest calling—Saving Lives. There are a few moments in my life that I can pinpoint as truly life-saving, and my experience at PRC is one of them. There are plenty of IOP programs around, but the people at this center, especially Robert Kidd, are on a whole different level. Before coming to PRC in San Marcos, I had been through three treatment centers and several Intensive Outpatient Programs, with my life in complete disarray. But everything changed when I met Robert. When you show up at an IOP, it’s not on your best day—it’s one of the lowest. My family had given up on me, and I didn’t have anyone to help me sort through the wreckage of my life and guide me forward. I felt hopeless, like rebuilding my life wasn’t possible. Robert took me in at my lowest point, and I’ll never forget what he said after going through the intake process. He looked at me—a 28-year-old man, fresh out of my second rehab, with a newborn child—and smiled. “Hey Bud, we’re going to get through this. And I don’t just mean maintain—I mean thrive. I have high hopes for you, John.” It had been a long time since someone believed in me. Robert became the father figure I needed when mine had stopped speaking to me. From that moment, I gave everything I had to getting clean. I had never stayed clean and sober for more than 12 days, but Robert's belief in me made me want to succeed. It wasn’t the money spent on rehab or the numerous counselors and medications that made the difference—it was Robert’s belief in me. He didn’t just let me slip away when I missed a group session; he would reach out, encourage me, and motivate me to keep going. PRC, and especially Robert Kidd, are the reasons I’m here today, thriving. If you’re considering PRC here in San Marcos, know that it could be the place where your life changes too.

Hello My name is Massey and I'm someone living in recovery for 8 years 1 month and 13 days. Without Robert Kidd and Positive Recovery, I would not be able to say that. What was provided to me was a safe space to come in out of the dark and learn that it was ok-that I would be ok. I was given an opportunity to improve my quality of life through ownership and action. All that was required of me was that I hold myself accountable. For over 35 years I struggled not just with addiction but fear stemming from years of trauma and suppression. Mr Kidd and Positive Recovery through their methodology and genuine compassion provided me a road map to another way. I will always be an addict. That is what I am, but that is no longer WHO I am thanks to the truth that Positive Recovery provided me. Today who I am is a father husband and quite simply someone that is no longer afraid of being afraid. Words cannot articulate the amount of gratitude I have for Mr Kidd and his team. Thank you for holding me accountable showing me how to do the work and helping me know that I will be ok Sincerely Massey B

This is to Jamarcus, James, Ray, Jeff on Cardio and to Leslie, Desiree, Jean, Jennifer, Briana, Adriana (lift team), Haley, Maria, Sofia on Tele. From Mary Linda Patin: I think you are all angels and I haven't meet such a wonderful group of people so loving, caring and kind. They treat their patients in a way that warms your heart. The joy and laughter they bring is out of this world. And the smiles I see on there faces makes me happy. In 2017/18 I developed Gastroparesis after contracting a virus. It was life-altering because I ended up weighing 80 pounds & losing my job as I threw up 24/7. Eventually I decided hypnotherapy might help me cope with the trauma aspect of the illness. I found Dr. DeWitt to be a lovely human being. He is exceptionally smart & committed. You feel really comfortable with him (and I'm a survivor so feeling comfortable with a man I do not know is a big deal) he's got a very kind heart & a wonderful bedside manner. Not surprising for a hypnotherapist maybe but he's the real deal in terms of his commitment to his profession. Dr. DeWitt is a very kind man, he's highly intelligent & versed in his field & he helped me a lot with the anxiety element of the illness. I couldn't afford to keep going to see him but I did have several sessions & they were reasonably priced. He is punctual, a good listener, professional & invested in what he does. I did not feel he was just going through the motions, I felt heard, accepted and like he really did want to help me (which he did). I highly recommend Dr. DeWitt if you wish to be hypnotized for anything from anxiety to quitting smoking, he will help you. He's such an asset to this city. Thank you for all you did to help me.

When I arrived at Heartwood in Austin, I was completely broken and had no hope left. I had been to multiple treatment centers before, but there is truly something different about Heartwood. From the beautiful, peaceful campus to the loving staff who actually take the time to truly know you, every part of this place is special. The team at Heartwood, from the counselors all the way to the owner, are an absolute blessing. They do not just treat you; they care about you on a level I had never experienced elsewhere. Their approach helped me dig deep, open up, and finally begin to heal. The aftercare is top tier as well. The constant love, support, and encouragement they continue to give even after you leave is nothing short of amazing. Heartwood did not just help me recover, they gave me hope again. For free health care, I don’t know why I complain. Probably because I'm a salty lil Karen who can barely get out of bed and when I do; I'm mad 😂 I've been to several VAs and Shavano typically completes everything I ask for help with, even if it takes forever. And I really like Dr K. Overall with VA healthcare, or pretty much anything nowdays; being direct and asking for what you need WITH UNLIMITED PATIENCE gets the best results. ***ORIGINAL POST*** I've been seeing my Shavano Park team since October, and I like the location and staff. Dr K is great. Today there was some hub-bub with the fire department and I was forgotten about in the waiting room and ended up having to be there a few extra hours😂 The pros to this was the waiting room was comfortable, the staff was funny and I got to get halfway through my new library book. The only suggestion I would make would be maybe some feng shui (zen water fountain and tranquil pictures perhaps?) and coffee station/healthy snacks for the waiting room. “Where there’s a smile, luck arrives.”

Waking up to deers running around on the grounds is just breathtaking, and the perfect way to start the day. There are also adorable goats (yes goats), plus horses who love to accept carrots that you can get from the kitchen. Tennis courts, basket ball hoops, swimming pools, Jacuzzis and lots of long walks close by. The staff are caring and always ready to help, the chef is wonderful, providing delicious fresh food every day, they even have their own veggie and herb garden. Soba Texas is a beautiful, serene place, providing the perfect environment for self reflection and the process of healing from life's challenges. Plus they allow you to bring your pet if you wish, which is refreshing and so nice. Group meetings and sessions are empowering and educational, Soba Texas provides a healing break away from the world and a chance to regroup, learn, grow, and then return to the world refreshed, invigorated and ready to fall in love with life again. Yup, clearly I recommend this lovely place.

First and foremost I want to say I would give SOBA a million stars if I could. Many leave false reviews and I witnessed this multiple times. Addicts know how to manipulate and are the best of the best at doing so. SOBA has rules in place for 100% success and 100% safety for all in treatment. If you violated the rules you must be terminated to keep it a safe environment for all of us that want to heal. If a client is discharged at the fault of their own actions the first thing I heard multiple times is I am going to leave a bad review. Thank you SOBA for taking a false bad review and keeping this a safe place to recover. Sadly to say we are a family of 8 (YES 8) that reside in Michigan and have recovered out of state only because of SOBA. We all have years of sobriety due to the highest standards SOBA has set to teach you a beautiful new way instead of using mind altering substances. I was petrified at age 45 to enter a treatment center and I had an extremely bad attitude when I arrived! I was determined to find something wrong with SOBA so I could have a reason to leave. SOBA is different than the other treatment centers we tried multiple times in Michigan. We all failed on numerous attempts. SOBA is loving, kind, knowledgeable, safe and a peaceful place to recover. SOBA far exceed my expectations and I stayed in treatment for 16 months. Our children (3) stayed in treatment for 2 years. My sister and nephews also recovered at SOBA with a lengthy stay in sober living. It is so important to reside in sober living after inpatient and do the work. Leaving treatment early will end in failure. If it were not for SOBA I can honestly say several of us would not be alive today.

She began her journey to recovery in 2023, and today, she’s the only clean and sober student in her graduating class. That speaks volumes about her commitment — and the support she received. Throughout her time there, my daughter was offered counseling, coaching, and a safe place to heal and grow. The program isn’t magic, and it’s not easy. But for students who are ready to put in the work, it can work. The staff includes some very kind, devoted individuals who truly care about the kids they serve. For that, I’m thankful. However, my experience as a parent was mixed. I found communication with the staff to be somewhat lacking. It often felt like they were focused entirely on my child — which is important — but I also felt left out of the loop and that my feedback was not always welcomed or acknowledged. That made things challenging at times. One concern I want to raise is how my daughter was led to believe she had a chance to work at the school after graduation. She went through the process of creating a recovery plan, submitting a resume, and even had an interview with the director, Evita. But in the end, nothing came of it, with no clear explanation. I can’t help but feel this decision may have been influenced by my own willingness to speak up about certain safety concerns and the need for stronger leadership. That was disappointing, especially after the growth and hard work my daughter had shown. Despite the challenges, I do strongly recommend Rise Inspire Academy to families with teens struggling with substance abuse. This school offers a life-changing opportunity for young people — but it requires effort, honesty, and a desire to change. For those who are ready, this program can be the turning point.

SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME! I had virtual appointments that I never ever missed or was late to. They are SUPPOSED to send out a link in email or text to access your appointment. (I did not get one) I tried calling the office no response. They would not return my voicemail and ignored me for days. Just to charge me $200 for "not showing up". I can't get my medicine because of this twisted greedy company. Not to mention emailing Admin was the most disrespectful encounter I've ever experienced.

New patient with them. I had a follow up appt on 1/22/25. I had Jury Duty on 1/23/25. Due to bad weather the jury was postponed for the day of my appointment. When I called to tell them I would have to reschedule Due to a required Jury duty. They wanted me to schedule later that day at 3:00 pm.I explained that I may still be at jury duty and was not certain I could make that appointment. All they said was I would still incur the fee for a canceled appointment. This was beyond my control needles to say.. I am very disappointed with them. I will not return to this company and am just waiting to see if I will be charged this fee. The Doctor I spoke to the first time was kind and it is so sad that the administration is not understanding Jury duty and the requirements.

My 38-year-old husband was a patient here from June 2025 until October 2025. I am so glad God led us here. He suffered a severe stroke in February 2025 that left him in what they believe (locked in syndrome) Doctor's in Louisiana were saying he would never be the same, he would never get off the vent, and other unkind things (God is a Miracle Worker and a Promise Keeper). When my husband first arrived at TNC he was on a ventilator and within two weeks he was OFF!!! During therapy here he made great progress. We are so grateful and thankful for TNC. Dr. Gillbey, NP Allison, Ms. Stephanie, PT, OT, Speech, and our guys Mr. Vern and Mr. Carbert we appreciate all of you!!! Thank you TNC for everything!! You guys will forever be in our hearts

If you're looking for a place to get clean and you're a vet, you can't ask for a better place to do so. Stellar medical attention, a staff who really cares for your welfare, and excellent living conditions. You're connected to resources in the community who will help with jobs, housing etc. It's a peaceful, safe place. Just follow the rules and you won't have any problems from the staff.

This place has the usual issues, remember when you're coming here, this is the government nothing actually works correctly or the way it should half the time. Try not to focus on that let it go worry about your purpose here. I'd say a small amount of staff you might have conflict with but 99% go out of there way to help you. Covid coming back is making it very challenging to stay focused on what you need to and not on the stuff you can't control. Remember have an open mind take what is good for you and leave the rest but remember they've been doing this some of them a long time make sure you listen with an open mind and especially the people who have been addicts they have good advice.
