Nova is far from perfect, and some of the information can be misleading. But if you want to dive deep into the 12 Steps while enjoying good food and a beautiful scenic view, this is the place for you. The staff is great — the RAs and techs are friendly and genuinely care. The woman who runs it, however, can be unreasonable and enforces some silly rules (like not being allowed to save your food for later — insanity), but fortunately, she’s not around much.
Jeff and Korn are the ones who really run the show. They have a ton of recovery experience and are both awesome guys who truly care. Jeff changed my life and helped save my marriage, so the place gets five stars from me for that reason alone.
Thank you to Jeff, Korn, Cassandra, Jen, Leon Phelps, Aaron, and the rest of the staff!

It’s hard to put into words the amount of gratitude I feel for Robert Kidd & “the Room” @ Positive Recovery, but I will give it my best shot.
After finding myself at an ultimate low & loosing nearly everything that ever mattered to me in life, I found myself sitting in what we call “the room”. Robert asked me a question that I had no idea wld be the start of a new & beautiful journey…. “Who is Kat?” Take away the kids, the marriage, the job, etc…most of which I had lost at that point anyway - who was I, at my core? I had absolutely no idea - but thankfully, I had a willingness & a safe place to find out. Thru some really challenging assignments & sitting in the room w/ others who were willing to open up & share things we probably wldn’t otherwise talk about…I found myself doing the same. In doing so, I have been able to let go of things I didn’t even realize I had been holding onto & have rediscovered who I AM. It’s a special room & To say that I’m grateful is a serious understatement. Everyday is a gift 🙏 I realize that more today than ever. #soberaf #onedayatatime

I hope this review reaches you when you’re feeling like you’ve tried everything and nothing has worked. If that’s where you are, know that PRC will give you the help you need, and Robert Kidd is in the business of the highest calling—Saving Lives.
There are a few moments in my life that I can pinpoint as truly life-saving, and my experience at PRC is one of them. There are plenty of IOP programs around, but the people at this center, especially Robert Kidd, are on a whole different level. Before coming to PRC in San Marcos, I had been through three treatment centers and several Intensive Outpatient Programs, with my life in complete disarray. But everything changed when I met Robert.
When you show up at an IOP, it’s not on your best day—it’s one of the lowest. My family had given up on me, and I didn’t have anyone to help me sort through the wreckage of my life and guide me forward. I felt hopeless, like rebuilding my life wasn’t possible. Robert took me in at my lowest point, and I’ll never forget what he said after going through the intake process. He looked at me—a 28-year-old man, fresh out of my second rehab, with a newborn child—and smiled. “Hey Bud, we’re going to get through this. And I don’t just mean maintain—I mean thrive. I have high hopes for you, John.”
It had been a long time since someone believed in me. Robert became the father figure I needed when mine had stopped speaking to me. From that moment, I gave everything I had to getting clean. I had never stayed clean and sober for more than 12 days, but Robert's belief in me made me want to succeed. It wasn’t the money spent on rehab or the numerous counselors and medications that made the difference—it was Robert’s belief in me.
He didn’t just let me slip away when I missed a group session; he would reach out, encourage me, and motivate me to keep going. PRC, and especially Robert Kidd, are the reasons I’m here today, thriving. If you’re considering PRC here in San Marcos, know that it could be the place where your life changes too.

San Antonio, TX | If you’re a veteran seeking addiction treatment in the San Antonio, Texas, area, you can get support at North Central Federal VA Clinic. Plus, they’re a dual diagnosis center, which means that they treat mental health conditions too, such as depression, anxiety, PTS | Treatments Programs Payment Options | The commissary provides the services for which it exists, and doesn't have some of the options available at local grocery stores (with the cost savings passed to its customers), It was clean, well stocked with a variety of items, but had the limitations imposed by available space. With respect to inventory, it would be generally similar to one of the few smaller HEB stores in the San Antonio area. Most notable for me was the comparatively limited supply of meat. The beef was mostly 'Select' quality, and cuts didn't compare well to HEB beef (and neither compares well to Costco that stocks mostly Choice beef with a smaller array of Prime cuts). The commissary lighting was good (and completely adequate), though not great. Pricing compares well with local market alternatives, but the pricing differential seemed less than the days of my active duty. I suspect that is due largely to HEB's determination to provide the best overall grocery type inventory prices in any market where HEB competes. The commissary was priced lower than HEB and Walmart Superstores, but the average differential appears to run from 2%-15%, with the greatest discount coming from non food items that typically have high sales margins. Add the savings of zero sales tax on ALL items (not just food) and the savings can be very significant on some non food items. The atmosphere and area in and around the commissary felt safe by virtue of being on base, but otherwise it 'felt' a bit depressing.

San Antonio, TX | Laurel Ridge Treatment Center is a psychiatric hospital and addiction facility in San Antonio, Texas. The 330-bed facility offers services for children, adolescents, and adults facing substance use disorders, mental health conditions, and trauma. Laurel Ridge provides whole-person treatment in a therapeutic campus setting designed to support last | Treatments Programs Payment Options | There are moments in life where you realize you cannot continue carrying the weight you’ve been silently battling for years. For me, that battle was an 8–10 year dependency on and overuse of prescription sleep medication — something that slowly became etched into my everyday life until I no longer recognized how deeply it had taken hold of me.
Walking into Laurel Ridge Treatment Center was one of the most vulnerable and frightening moments of my life. I did not know what to expect. I was exhausted emotionally, mentally, and physically. But what I found there was something I will never forget: compassion, patience, structure, understanding, and people who genuinely cared.
Every single staff member I encountered treated me with kindness and dignity. Not once did I feel like I was simply another patient passing through their doors. I felt seen. I felt heard. I felt cared for.
What impacted me most was that healing at Laurel Ridge went far beyond medication management or detox protocols. The conversations mattered. The encouragement mattered. The way staff took time to speak life into people who often arrive feeling broken, ashamed, scared, or uncertain… mattered more than my words can truly express. Every interaction — whether big or small — helped prepare me for my release back into the real world.
They did not simply help me withdraw from medication. They helped rebuild parts of my mindset that had been neglected for years.
I left with knowledge, tools, coping mechanisms, and a deeper understanding of how to properly navigate not only my current struggles, but future hardships as well. The education, attentiveness, and emotional support I received gave me something I had almost forgotten existed: hope.
I also want future patients entering Laurel Ridge to understand something important. The rules, structure, attentiveness, and routines are not there because the staff wants to be harsh or unreasonable. They exist because the people they take their positions seriously and genuinely care about the safety, recovery, and success of every individual who walks through those doors. Structure is part of healing. Accountability is part of healing. The consistency they provide is meant to prepare you for success outside of the facility when no one is standing next to you and guiding you anymore.
If you enter with an open mind and an open heart, you may realize that even the difficult and uncomfortable moments encountered there - are rooted in care and concern for your wellbeing.
To every staff member at Laurel Ridge: Thank you.
Thank you for your patience during moments when I struggled. Thank you for your compassion during moments when I felt weak. Thank you for the conversations that shifted my perspective. Thank you for reminding me that transformation is possible, even after years of dependency and emotional exhaustion.
You helped guide me through one of the hardest chapters of my life, and I will carry the lessons I learned in my heart for this moment on.
I truly hope to continue growing and developing into a healthier, stronger version of myself in a way that honors every staff member who genuinely cared for me during my stay.
Some people may never fully understand how life-changing this kind of support can be until they experience it themselves. But I will never forget the impact Laurel Ridge had on my life, and I will always be grateful for the role each staff member played in helping me begin again.

My experience at Laurel Ridge was perfect for my treatment needed. The M100 regular staff was awesome. Tonya, Crystal, Amanda, Stevie, Ashley, Ivy, Will, Gale, Edwin, Andrew, Bianca, Shauntrice. Therapist Tammy (the best), Dr. Kashup. STS staff Coach Calvin, Derek, Vanessa, Carolyn, and Mckayla. Mrs. Danny in the cafeteria always smiling. Sean for the haircuts. Even through whatever the drama treated us with respect and dignity. The replacements and new comers needed training. Caught sleeping, rude, and overall not taken in well by those who'd been around. Keep military with military. Keep Vets with Vets. Civilian with civilian.

In 2017/18 I developed Gastroparesis after contracting a virus. It was life-altering because I ended up weighing 80 pounds & losing my job as I threw up 24/7. Eventually I decided hypnotherapy might help me cope with the trauma aspect of the illness. I found Dr. DeWitt to be a lovely human being. He is exceptionally smart & committed. You feel really comfortable with him (and I'm a survivor so feeling comfortable with a man I do not know is a big deal) he's got a very kind heart & a wonderful bedside manner. Not surprising for a hypnotherapist maybe but he's the real deal in terms of his commitment to his profession. Dr. DeWitt is a very kind man, he's highly intelligent & versed in his field & he helped me a lot with the anxiety element of the illness. I couldn't afford to keep going to see him but I did have several sessions & they were reasonably priced. He is punctual, a good listener, professional & invested in what he does. I did not feel he was just going through the motions, I felt heard, accepted and like he really did want to help me (which he did). I highly recommend Dr. DeWitt if you wish to be hypnotized for anything from anxiety to quitting smoking, he will help you. He's such an asset to this city. Thank you for all you did to help me.

I absolutely love my time at banyan Texas. The treatment was great and participation was always easy. The therapist here listen and the aftercare coordinators were on top of it from the very beginning. All the stuff was exceptionally nice. The scenery is gorgeous I love being here and I hate leaving but my journey continues. If this saves just one person I'll be okay so if you're serious about getting your life back together and recovery is in your future batting is a great place to come.

Since my beginning here at Banyan Texas my treatment experiences were highly focused. I earned more than I had ever expected. This was my first (and most likely my last) rehabilitation program and it went smoothly. Thanks to the case managers Cassi and Carolyn for their support and love for me and my personal development. Forever grateful and thankful for their service. Thanks to Angela, my therapist here at Banyan Texas, for taking me through this process/journey. Her one on one therapy sessions here gave me a new hope for my life expedition, motivation for my future, and encouragement I need to keep persevering. Regardless, it’ll be hard work. But it is worth it! Thank you Banyan Texas! I’m only 30 years old, and I believe that this first step to recovery inspired me towards ensuing the goals God has for me in my life.

I can't say enough great things about my treatment at RU. I was in the PHP program and the curriculum is awesome. They definitely help you get out of your comfort zone with Open Mic on Wednesdays, which I loved! The mens houses are both very nice and comfortable. And they provide food for us and we can still purchase extra if we want. I would recommend this facility to any and everyone!

Recovery unplugged has been a very important part of my journey. My therapist, staff, the clients, and especially my case manager Chloe have really helped me through this chapter of my life. Chloe was my case manager and really helped me get my doctors appointments figured out , my probation appointments, and answered any other questions I had. My therapist Jess was also very helpful and I felt like she was the only therapist I’ve ever had that I could truly be honest with. The techs are also awesome and really help you through the day. I definitely recommend this place and you really get what you put in out of it.

Never thought I'd be reviewing a detox/rehab facility, but Recovery Unplugged delivered. The medical team handled my detox efficiently and continued to manage my medical need throughout my residential stay. My therapist Carolyn was always available and helped me develop a solid plan for my continued recovery. The tech staff kept things moving smoothly. The meals were good for the most part (i'm pretty picky.) There was no shortage of snacks during my stay.
I hope to never come back to Recovery, but would recommend it to anyone who is ready to take back their life from addiction.

SARC saved my life. My life had become unmanageable and was spiraling out of control. I was still working my full time successful career, but it was only a matter of time before I could have lost everything I’ve spent my life building. Tired of waking up with a black box of wine on my nightstand I threw lord knows what into my suitcase and checked into Cagnon for 38 days. For a girl accustomed to being in complete control I was petrified. I was a mess. The staff was so welcoming and walked me through the process. Was I ready to take 12 weeks off of work? It was life or death and I chose life. The detox process was tough. Reba and Alan made me as comfortable as I could be. I had sweats and nightmares. Roy, a lead counselor calmed me down. My job for 5 days was sleep, hydrate and rest. Gen the program Director Is fabulous. She kept assuring me trust in the process. Allow myself time to heal, grieve and let someone take care of me for once. The days are very structured with wellness, nutrition, groups, education, counseling. Nutrition and routine and self discipline are key. We have one job while in treatment. Show up!! It’s impossible not to learn, grow and learn valuable tools and coping skills to set you up for a lifetime of sobriety. All counselors know your name and your case. They are always available to lend an ear and advice. The center is staffed with people in long term recovery. Richard, Steven, Blake, Jess, Mandy Jo all have real life experience , Every night there is an AA meeting and fellow patients can meet in groups to do book study, talk and truly become a recovery family. This is a private facility that works with many insurance companies and helps people who need to make arrangements for private pay. The setting is serene and a wonderful place to heal. Gen, Roy and Paula are true experts in their field. Each with their own individual techniques and special touches to group sessions. I am for ever indebted to the techs, counselors and Karen and Raul Ruelas for their relentless passion in fighting for those struggling with substance abuse disorder to live a long happy life free of drugs and alcohol. World class facility. Amazing caring people who pour their heart and sole into what they do. Highly recommend if your looking for a program that treats the total individual and follows up on you for life. Love you all for all you did for me. XoXo D.
Run don’t walk!! Jackie should be stripped of her license. She used her position to look up my information and called me at 6:50am in California. This woman has ZERO business running a recovery facility. She heckled me and was relentless on the phone. I filed a grievance with State and against her. So sad she’s in charge. Place went downhill after Karen and Raul sold. Tragic. Go to New Day or SOBA. She’s a disgrace to the recovery community!! Do not go there.
