I took a ride on my first ambulance ever. I went to the Guadalupe Medical center. I was brought to Guadalupe Medical center and was immediately treated with first class service. They got to the base of my problem. I was diagnosed. I was monitored for a few hours and released in good health. The staff was nothing but polite and experts at what they did.
When I was discharged, I sat in the waiting room by the exit door. I did not have an Uber app. I called Seguin taxi. Apparently they are not in business any longer. The security guard saw that I was in disarray and said is there something I could do to help you sir? I told him my problem. I need a ride I have nobody to take me back home. It would be many hours before I could get a ride home it was 11:00 p.m. and it was raining out. I gave him my address because he asked me for it. The security guard got on his cell phone and a few minutes later told me an Uber will be arriving in 9 minutes. It will take you directly home. I said how much is this going to cost? The security guard said it's all taken care of I'm paying for it. I said oh I didn't know that the hospital pays for Ubers he says they're not paying for it sir I'm paying for it. The security guard paid for my Uber trip along with the tip and refused to take any money from me. This was an act of kindness. He made my day I couldn't thank him enough and just couldn't believe it. This is a great hospital with great people and great security that work at the Guadalupe regional Medical center. This is not something that the security guard does all the time he just did it as an act of kindness. I recommend the Guadalupe regional Medical center. Everyone there is a class A person.

Positive Recovery Center's (PRC) San Marco clinic is a private substance abuse clinic in the San Marco, Texas, area. Adult clients have access to partial hospitalization programs (PHP), intensive outpatient programs (IOP), supportive outpatient programs (OP), and aftercare services. They use a positive emotion based approach to recovery. It’ | Treatments Programs Payment Options | It’s hard to put into words the amount of gratitude I feel for Robert Kidd & “the Room” @ Positive Recovery, but I will give it my best shot.
After finding myself at an ultimate low & loosing nearly everything that ever mattered to me in life, I found myself sitting in what we call “the room”. Robert asked me a question that I had no idea wld be the start of a new & beautiful journey…. “Who is Kat?” Take away the kids, the marriage, the job, etc…most of which I had lost at that point anyway - who was I, at my core? I had absolutely no idea - but thankfully, I had a willingness & a safe place to find out. Thru some really challenging assignments & sitting in the room w/ others who were willing to open up & share things we probably wldn’t otherwise talk about…I found myself doing the same. In doing so, I have been able to let go of things I didn’t even realize I had been holding onto & have rediscovered who I AM. It’s a special room & To say that I’m grateful is a serious understatement. Everyday is a gift 🙏 I realize that more today than ever. #soberaf #onedayatatime

I hope this review reaches you when you’re feeling like you’ve tried everything and nothing has worked. If that’s where you are, know that PRC will give you the help you need, and Robert Kidd is in the business of the highest calling—Saving Lives.
There are a few moments in my life that I can pinpoint as truly life-saving, and my experience at PRC is one of them. There are plenty of IOP programs around, but the people at this center, especially Robert Kidd, are on a whole different level. Before coming to PRC in San Marcos, I had been through three treatment centers and several Intensive Outpatient Programs, with my life in complete disarray. But everything changed when I met Robert.
When you show up at an IOP, it’s not on your best day—it’s one of the lowest. My family had given up on me, and I didn’t have anyone to help me sort through the wreckage of my life and guide me forward. I felt hopeless, like rebuilding my life wasn’t possible. Robert took me in at my lowest point, and I’ll never forget what he said after going through the intake process. He looked at me—a 28-year-old man, fresh out of my second rehab, with a newborn child—and smiled. “Hey Bud, we’re going to get through this. And I don’t just mean maintain—I mean thrive. I have high hopes for you, John.”
It had been a long time since someone believed in me. Robert became the father figure I needed when mine had stopped speaking to me. From that moment, I gave everything I had to getting clean. I had never stayed clean and sober for more than 12 days, but Robert's belief in me made me want to succeed. It wasn’t the money spent on rehab or the numerous counselors and medications that made the difference—it was Robert’s belief in me.
He didn’t just let me slip away when I missed a group session; he would reach out, encourage me, and motivate me to keep going. PRC, and especially Robert Kidd, are the reasons I’m here today, thriving. If you’re considering PRC here in San Marcos, know that it could be the place where your life changes too.

Hello My name is Massey and I'm someone living in recovery for 8 years 1 month and 13 days. Without Robert Kidd and Positive Recovery, I would not be able to say that. What was provided to me was a safe space to come in out of the dark and learn that it was ok-that I would be ok. I was given an opportunity to improve my quality of life through ownership and action. All that was required of me was that I hold myself accountable. For over 35 years I struggled not just with addiction but fear stemming from years of trauma and suppression. Mr Kidd and Positive Recovery through their methodology and genuine compassion provided me a road map to another way. I will always be an addict. That is what I am, but that is no longer WHO I am thanks to the truth that Positive Recovery provided me. Today who I am is a father husband and quite simply someone that is no longer afraid of being afraid.
Words cannot articulate the amount of gratitude I have for Mr Kidd and his team. Thank you for holding me accountable showing me how to do the work and helping me know that I will be ok
Sincerely
Massey B

No parent ever wants to place their child in a treatment center. We were very nervous and scared but the entire staff at SMTC went above and beyond to ensure our family felt heard, seen, and validated. Our child did have to wait for several months for a bed to open (no fault to center as the mental health crisis in our world is a lot and not enough places to help ) but as soon as one did the staff as on top of everything and made the transition from out of state as easy as possible. Through the 8 plus months or child was in SMTC we got to see the staff and campus first hand several times and it broke all the stereotypes about these "types of places". The campus is beautiful and tons of engaging and therapeutic activities for all clients. They planned and executed several special outings , BBQs, and fun activities to keep clients active and involved in every aspects of their mental health treatment. Our therapist , Ms. Mcarthur was exceptional and walked beside us the entire way. she will forever hold a special places in our family for all the tools, tips, and support for gave us. She helped our child learn skills to advocate and take a role in their personal treatment. The nursing staff was kind, knowledgeable and professional. Nurse Anderson, Nurse Macola, and Nurse Headly are amazing assets to the facility. Communication was constant, clear and conveyed in a timely fashion. I was very impressed with the fact the SMTC worked with not only the individual client but also us as a family with weekly family therapy sessions. As parents we were very involved throughout the treatment process. We loved the weekly check ins and staffings to ensure we all were on same page and all effective members of the treatment team. We are eternally grateful for SMTC for coming along and walking beside us without judgement during a very hard, scary and emotional season of our lives. TO ALL THE STAFF: we are so grateful and thankful for all your hard work not only with our child but all the children you help! We know nursing is sometimes hard and difficult but know you are a blessing to so many kiddos! you have all touched our lives with lasting experiences! keep up the amazing work you all do!
With a grateful mom heart,

There’s a negative stigma on mental health, but in reality everyone struggles with mental in many different ways and at that time of my life, I absolutely hated being in residential, but now look back as the years have passed. I realize that it was the best for me and I’m in the best situation I have ever been in my whole life just because I went to residential and get the help that I needed. So yes, it can be beneficial for your child. Will it be very scary, Different, and new to your child yes it will. But I’m not saying I did not struggle being in residential for six months. In fact, I absolutely hated it, but it motivated me to be a become my better self this how you become well-rounded citizens of the society and build god habits that last.

I will be 1 year sober on November 14, 2025. I was heavily addicted to meth and chaos. I am a living testament to the magic in this program. If there is anyone out there who struggles with the crippling cycle of trauma and addiction this program heals. My mind is different. My expectations are different. My self esteem. My confidence... I am no longer broken and confused. I got "Obama care" insurance online about 3 days before I found the program on Google. A week later I drove to Austin, remained in the program for 4.5 months or so. And honestly came back a different person. If you do not have transportation and feel stuck in your crappy life hating the you in your messed up head, they will pick you up from wherever you are and take you to Austin. Free of charge. Dont stay locked in to your trauma and addiction. There is life on the other side. The only hard part is making the decision to go. They allowed me to bring my Husky, Shady, with me. She stayed by my side through every single step. They loved her and cared for us both. Again. My insurance payed for this. I am ok now. A wise woman once told me, "Imagine the life you want.. SARC saved my life. My life had become unmanageable and was spiraling out of control. I was still working my full time successful career, but it was only a matter of time before I could have lost everything I’ve spent my life building. Tired of waking up with a black box of wine on my nightstand I threw lord knows what into my suitcase and checked into Cagnon for 38 days. For a girl accustomed to being in complete control I was petrified. I was a mess. The staff was so welcoming and walked me through the process. Was I ready to take 12 weeks off of work? It was life or death and I chose life. The detox process was tough. Reba and Alan made me as comfortable as I could be. I had sweats and nightmares. Roy, a lead counselor calmed me down. My job for 5 days was sleep, hydrate and rest. Gen the program Director Is fabulous. She kept assuring me trust in the process. Allow myself time to heal, grieve and let someone take care of me for once. The days are very structured with wellness, nutrition, groups, education, counseling. Nutrition and routine and self discipline are key. We have one job while in treatment. Show up!! It’s impossible not to learn, grow and learn valuable tools and coping skills to set you up for a lifetime of sobriety. All counselors know your name and your case. They are always available to lend an ear and advice. The center is staffed with people in long term recovery. Richard, Steven, Blake, Jess, Mandy Jo all have real life experience , Every night there is an AA meeting and fellow patients can meet in groups to do book study, talk and truly become a recovery family. This is a private facility that works with many insurance companies and helps people who need to make arrangements for private pay. The setting is serene and a wonderful place to heal. Gen, Roy and Paula are true experts in their field. Each with their own individual techniques and special touches to group sessions. I am for ever indebted to the techs, counselors and Karen and Raul Ruelas for their relentless passion in fighting for those struggling with substance abuse disorder to live a long happy life free of drugs and alcohol. World class facility. Amazing caring people who pour their heart and sole into what they do. Highly recommend if your looking for a program that treats the total individual and follows up on you for life. Love you all for all you did for me. XoXo D.
Run don’t walk!! Jackie should be stripped of her license. She used her position to look up my information and called me at 6:50am in California. This woman has ZERO business running a recovery facility. She heckled me and was relentless on the phone. I filed a grievance with State and against her. So sad she’s in charge. For free health care, I don’t know why I complain. Probably because I'm a salty lil Karen who can barely get out of bed and when I do; I'm mad 😂 I've been to several VAs and Shavano typically completes everything I ask for help with, even if it takes forever. And I really like Dr K.
Overall with VA healthcare, or pretty much anything nowdays; being direct and asking for what you need WITH UNLIMITED PATIENCE gets the best results.
***ORIGINAL POST***
I've been seeing my Shavano Park team since October, and I like the location and staff. Dr K is great. Today there was some hub-bub with the fire department and I was forgotten about in the waiting room and ended up having to be there a few extra hours😂 The pros to this was the waiting room was comfortable, the staff was funny and I got to get halfway through my new library book. The only suggestion I would make would be maybe some feng shui (zen water fountain and tranquil pictures perhaps?) and coffee station/healthy snacks for the waiting room.

I started my recovery journey with Driftwood Recovery on 9/28/2017 and have had continuous recovery since. The facility, food, staff, education, and treatment team are top notch, A+, 5 Star. What really sets Driftwood apart is their community integration program post impatient treatment. The alumni group is strong and gets together weekly in addition to several events throughout the year. There are camping trips to state parks (Big Bend) annual Christmas party (over 150 staff and alumni attend each year), bowling, sporting events, concerts etc. I just returned from Peru on a trip that was hosted by Driftwood. We had a total of 18 on this trip, a trip that still has me smiling! If you are seeking help for yourself or a loved one I highly recommend Driftwood. Driftwood changed my life, sounds dramatic but it is very true!

This is the best Outpatient I’ve been a part of. The counselor is amazing and the group of people are too. I felt like I could open up and be myself without judgement. I would 10/10 recommend.

Their first recommendation was Infinite Recovery, and I am eternally grateful it was. The first person we spoke with was Tanner and then the clinical department. They also provided the most exceptional family program I have seen, and it has helped our family heal and unite. My son is still in the program living in a beautiful sober living home. Austin, Texas | Addiction & Psychotherapy Services (Aeschbach & Associates) has been serving the greater Austin area since 1982. We are a private clinic that provides services to opiate-addiction/multiple diagnosis patients. Since 1982, we provide comprehensive opioid addiction treatment to the greater Austin area. We specialized in treatment of complicated patien | Treatments Programs Payment Options | Good people, invaluable service provided. Very legit (non-sketch).
[EDIT/UPDATE] Well, it’s been 5 years since I posted the brief review seen above, and I feel like both this clinic AND me deserve something of an update.
I am still a patient of the clinic’s, albeit a patient whose chaotic and life-threatening issues with opiate addiction thankfully have been thoroughly tamed. While Google Reviews isn’t the appropriate venue to detail the grittier personal details encompassed within an individual case of opiate addiction disorder, I will share without hesitation the undeniable reality that without the service of professionally compassionate treatment of the addiction nightmare which first brought me to their doorstep, I would not be alive and able to compose the review you’re now reading.
How very happy I AM here today, able to talk about this treatment and the improvements to and gains made in my life, none of which would have been remotely possible without the service provided by this clinic. Relationships shattered by the damage wrought by addiction have been repaired. My apartment becomes a nicer and more enjoyable place to call home with each passing year as I replace belongings that I sold or traded for drugs in the past and add new ones I never had the chance to enjoy “back then.”
It’s easier to look in the mirror now that I put on new, clean clothes that
I like to wear, instead of rummaging through piles of tattered threads, searching for the least dirty garments I first got from donation bins and the like. My self-esteem grows each passing day. I no longer avert my eyes from those of the people I encounter.
I no longer find myself having to constantly look over my proverbial shoulder, worried that the people I know will steal my belongings at the first opportunity they see to do so. I no longer find myself incarcerated, wondering what lunkheaded thing I did to land myself there while I was, no doubt, blacked-out thanks to some atrociously dangerous combination of opiates, benzodiazepines, and anything else I might have imbibed while barking at the moon. Good grief, am I ever glad that those days seem finally to be behind me.
One more killer perk which I suspect just might appeal to someone out there: I haven’t been dope-sick—or, I suppose I ought to say “in withdrawal”—not even once since the first day I began treatment.
Not.
Even.
Once.
So, if you’re sick and tired of being sick and tired, do yourself a gigantic, merciful favor by picking up the phone and giving these fine folks a ringy-dingy-ding. You could literally change your life today. Never have I regretted my decision to do so.
One love… ✌️
