About Recovery Centers of America at Lighthouse

Recovery Centers of America at Lighthouse is one of the many locations of a renowned rehab network, this one based in Mays Landing, New Jersey. This comprehensive drug and alcohol rehab offers a full continuum of care including detox and residential rehab as well as outpatient rehab.

That full continuum of care means that you can smoothly transition from one level of care to the next as you progress through your recovery journey. Most people start in the detox center to safely get the drugs and alcohol out of their system. At this rehab that detox is medically managed to make it as comfortable and safe as possible.

After detox you’ll likely move into the residential treatment program. During your program you’ll live at this facility and get intensive treatment for your addiction. As you become more stable in your sobriety you’ll step down to outpatient treatment while you live at home or in a sober living home.

The programs themselves will be tailored to what you need for success. They may provide medications like methadone and Suboxone to help you minimize withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Meanwhile you’ll also receive individual therapy and group therapy to develop a mindset and skills that will empower your sobriety.

Clients at this rehab have beautiful things to say about the experience. They talk about the impact that their treatment has had on their lives and say that the staff here are experts at what they do while having caring and welcoming hearts.

This place we by far the WORST detox/rehab I have ever been to. You couldn t hold your own lighter, no common area with a tv. The nurses were horrible people. One night I went up to one of the nurses who had very short, blonde hair color and short hair. I asked her for my meds and her very nasty response was I m busy. They lie to you on admission about what they ll let you do. The clinical director, a lady from the islands, does nothing but mislead you. My primary therapist was an extremely rude and nasty.Bottom line, the place is the absolute most disgraceful operation through and through. No conpassion, completely unprofessional and they lie to you to get you to come. NEVER go to this place if you know what s good for you.If you want a great detox/rehab look into clearbrook treatment centers very close to Wilkesbarre.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Ongoing involvement in recovery activities can reduce the likelihood of relapse, which is why they encourage patients to engage in the various programs Lighthouse offers. For patients with stable work and home environments who do not require a residential stay, their four New Jersey outpatient locations offer Intensive Outpatient, Partial Care, and Group Programs.
inpatient iconInpatient
Clients often enter inpatient rehab following detox, but they may also enroll during early recovery or at an increased risk of relapse. Inpatient rehabs provide housing, meals, and intensive clinical supervision, allowing clients to focus exclusively on their recovery in a highly structured and supportive environment. Clients typically receive multiple individual, group, and/or family therapy sessions weekly. Many programs also offer extensive addiction education and recovery-focused life skills training. Integrative inpatient rehabs provide holistic therapies as well.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients in a rehab aftercare program have typically completed detox and intensive inpatient and are medically stable. These programs are designed to address addiction recovery as a life-long process. Outpatient counseling and recovery education are typically categorized as drug rehab aftercare, but many clients continue to receive support after being discharged from formal outpatient treatment. Case managers and recovery teams facilitate clients' access to peer coaching, career counseling, 12 step program induction, and related services.
12-step icon12-Step
The values of the 12-step program are omnipresent throughout their treatment plans. They help their patients replace negative people, places and things with positive people, places and things. They believe in every patient’s ability to learn and thrive with good treatment, and that a rigorous 12-step foundation enables patients to transition successfully into a life of recovery.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
A sober living home in New Jersey is for individuals who are recovering from alcohol and drug addiction issues. This type of halfway house residence is focused on helping individuals learn and apply the tools of recovery. The setting provides fellowship, support, and structure to prevent relapse. The homes are typically designed for either men or women, but some may offer space for women with their children.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
A drug intervention in New Jersey is more than a confrontational conversation. This organized effort is specific and goal-oriented. During the intervention, family members share specific examples of how the person's addiction has impacted their lives and spell out what they will do if the individual does not get treatment. The intervention also presents a clear treatment plan, which typically involves input from intervention services.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in New Jersey is the process of addressing the complex issues involved with addiction. Challenges are identified and addressed through individual and group counseling. Participants learn how to manage these issues without the use of substances.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Their group recovery process includes sharing and discussing in a group setting, as well as family education and family therapy. To help families better understand addiction, the recovery process, and the family dynamics that are involved in drug rehab programs, they offer a comprehensive, open-ended family program. At Recovery Centers of America at Lighthouse, their Family Program offers the education, skills, and support needed for family members to join the journey of recovery.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Their nutritional specialists at Lighthouse believe in the timeless adage that their body is a temple. They strive to help their residents build their bodies into strongholds that will weather the journey on the way to life re-imagined. Lighthouse’s nutritional experts are also aware that there isn’t one diet that works for everyone. With this in mind, their approach is that each resident gets the proper guidance and nutrition to optimize their success.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I was a patient at this facility and can’t say enough good things about it and the people working there. The “recovery team” aren’t there for the paycheck. They are a group of people that are living in what we call “the solution” and passing that on to the patients. The therapy sessions were informative and life changing. Personally, I was there to learn coping mechanisms and listen to others that are living the kind of life that I want to live. Essentially,, I received the gift of recovery and continue to practice daily. The food was great and the living quarters were comfortable and clean. For anyone looking to change their lives and commit to the solution, I would highly recommend this facility. The therapy and medical staffs are fantastic and take the time to help the patients at all times. Good luck to you or a loved one looking for an opportunity to recover from this insidious disease.

It’s been a week and I have only heard that my loved one was admitted, they gave me a number to “call back anytime” nobody answers that phone, I’ve tried different times of day. I’ve called three times to the numbers online to check on him and was told twice that if he’s there (hipaa laws) someone would call back, the third time they didn’t even ask his name so they might still be looking for him. I haven’t heard anything from anyone, so to be perfectly honest I am not sure if he’s even there or if he signed out.
