My Dialectical Behavior Therapy Intensive Outpatient program ran Monday-Thursday, 1-4PM, for a total of 5 weeks. Deb is full of energy and and really knows the ins + outs of DBT. Other great acquaintances were made.

The DBT group I attended had multiple changes in staff. Nothing was consistent. Staff always started class late. Staff belittled & even called a patient a name in class. Sam Cunningham, Director of IOP, was called several times. However, when Sam Cunningham dismissed everything & basically was not interested in any of the issues.Don't call the number they provided to follow up, you'll just speak to the same people with the same lack of any care or follow through.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient programs are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Participants who do not meet the criteria for inpatient treatment may be perfect candidates for their outpatient programs.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) is a skills-focused therapy that was developed to help people work toward building a sense of well-being in life by teaching skills to increase awareness of behavior patterns and effectively manage impulsive behaviors, intense emotions, chaotic relationships that are interfering with their life goals.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

It has been a long time since I've felt confident navigating my mental health. And I have Heather and DBT to thank for that.

I’ve been through inpatient rehabs and outpatient programs and none have been as good as this one. I go to the one in round rock it’s a smaller group and i love that because it makes it easier to share. Greg is awesome, he doesn’t judge and is really understanding. This outpatient group is different it’s a lot more personal and focused on you. i love this group and have a little over a month sober which is my longest sober time yet and i have no desire to go out and use. I feel very comfortable in this group and always feel comfortable and welcome to share without judgement.

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! I was in two very unhelpful IOPs here. They shove as many people as possible into tiny uncomfortable rooms -- I'm sure it's a good money maker for them -- and it's disgusting when a corporation financially takes advantage of people who are mentally ill. The therapists are unfriendly and make judgements. If you're the type of person I am -- anxiety-stricken, shy and not a big talker -- they'll take that to mean you don't want to be there or that you aren't engaged enough. I was booted from the program because my therapist didn't like me and said I was a lost cause because I don't like to open up to strangers who we're not even allowed to talk to. I left the program feeling way worse than before. If you're looking for a good IOP go to Sage Recovery and Wellness.

First I told them not to write this down and they had agreed and I thought that they were people that I could trust. I treated them like a human being and lots of times they didn't treat me like one. Not just from this place but from a lot of Seton services. I have a lot of questions about there record-keeping. I hope that one day my records will not exist anymore. Penny was my psychiatrist and I didn't appreciate and I don't think anyone from the group when she left and we had to put up with two other different therapist and at times penny was unfair and pushy. For example one time someone said past and she let that person not say anything and then when I didn't want to talk that much and I did a little talking she would jump on me. I don't think she really tried hard enough to push for me to get a faculty psychiatrist at Seton MIND Institute. I do not want to see a resident and I was seeing a attending faculty but when that person left I was just pretty much thrown away. I wish we had waiting list I wish people were more compassionate and would understand people's needs
