Accepted Insurance

Southwest Behavioral & Health Services Buckeye Outpatient works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive inpatient programs (IOP) offer high-level support for clients in early recovery, those exiting detox or inpatient rehabs, and those at an elevated risk of relapse. Intensive outpatient treatment typically includes rigorous individual, group, and family counseling. Evidence-based complementary therapies, such as acupuncture and massage, are widely available. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) may be provided. Clients in IOP receive a minimum of nine hours of treatment per week but may engage in up to 20 treatment hours weekly.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Rehab aftercare programs support clients' successful reintegration into their home, workplace, and community. Drug rehab aftercare presumes that recovery requires life-long support. These programs typically offer a wide variety of services customized for the clients' unique and evolving needs. Clients may receive vocational training and career counseling, housing assistance, legal aid, peer coaching, and 12 step program induction, among other services. Clients' case managers often play a lead role in rehab aftercare planning.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

If a person denies their substance abuse behavior when confronted one-on-one, a drug intervention in Arizona may be necessary. An intervention may be formally planned with intervention services from a professional who can guide loved ones through this process. The intervention involves confronting someone with how their drinking or drug use has affected themselves and everyone around them and encourages them to get treatment.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

The safest way to remove addictive substances from your body is done under the care of licensed medical professionals. Known as medically assisted detox, this level of care is typically in an inpatient setting with a team of medical experts that may include doctors, nurses, and mental health clinicians. Medications like Suboxone, methadone, or Vivitrol may be administered to help alleviate withdrawal symptoms.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Arizona is the process of treating individuals who are dependent on a particular addictive drug. Because addiction is complex, this treatment typically includes a variety of interventions that address the many physical and emotional issues involved.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

The front desk workers in the afternoon are horrible. You can tell they have never worked in a drug and mental health facility before. When they do something wrong there is always one of their friends/coworker to back them up even when that employee did something wrong. They will hold your doses in order to gain control of you. You cannot speak your opinion even in a calm manner. I was extremely disrespected by a rude front desk worker and They disciplined me for her disrespect. Don’t go here and get caught up. You are setting yourself up for failure. I can promise you the majority of people that work here are there for the check. Not because they want to work in the mental health field. The front desk workers are extremely disrespectful and should be replaced.

The customer service is deplorable! Based on my experience with the prescriber Alex Suarez Mendez, I will be seeking services elsewhere for my child. No one ever answers the phone or calls back. I was calling for over a month to get medications transferred to a different location. They would do things and not communicate with me about them which led me to frustration and continually trying to reach them. When they finally got the refill put in they did it to the wrong pharmacy much further from my house and I can't have it transferred because it's a med that has to be called in to the pharmacy directly from the prescriber. This has been an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience. I would NOT recommend these services to anyone who wants to feel respected, valued or prioritized by their health care team.

Update after couple months SMI team is great they text back in a timely manner for my daughters meds . The case manager although we were told if we called and left messages they would get right back to us after a week of emails and voicemails and messages with other staff still waiting on a phone call back. I hate to say but this facility truly needs an audit , to see all the low rating stars that should say something ! people come here for help and they end up feeling more frustrated and messed up than when they started because they feel they have no help at the places that are supposed to help them . I don't get it these are people not paychecks ,they are trying and being ignored ! My daughter deserves better and sadly places are far and not decent not many places offer good help where people care . Hopefully they get it together . Everyone here is super friendly I did have a few hiccups with the appointments but they were rectified and they were very upfront and owning their error also they work fast when they're sending applications for SMI and they work fast when you're in need for medication so all in all we're pretty pleased But the problem is communication and making appointments, they fail to actually inter your appointments into the system thus we showed up 2 times no appointment was actually scheduled though they wrote in on our appointments card . They never answer the phone I have to email more than one person hoping we get a response. It's ridiculous and causes more mental stress than anything especially when you have to get medication before it runs out. Nice people but not reliable sadly this is where the insurance sent my daughter so and there's not a message service to leave a voicemail when you call the Main Line same thing with the SMI sode no message we get disconnected. My daughter is late on her medication because of the error they made and I tried calling so many times. This is the part that worries me for mental health needing a reliable stable place . We have seen we can't really trust and have to stress call day after day to do their Job on confirmation of appointments and dates . Need to be looked into on why they have so many issues .

Customer service is not a factor here. There is no professionalism or common office courtesy. I needed service for 3 and yet only 1 was able to get in and the therapy was basically a blame game on others around us. My 2nd needed an evaluation we waited almost a month for an appt. And the day before the appt they called to make It virtual the MD was late and when we were going through phone hiccups he disconnected the meeting without even a reason as to why. I expected him to say why don’t we reschedule or something along those lines but no just hang up in our face. So disrespectful! It’s sad when you know mental illness goes so untreated and these are some key factors as to why. Thankful our situation isn’t dangerous because no one at SW behavioral would have been able to help me.

Counseling services For those who may be considering services here and are looking for counseling that respects more traditional or principled values. In my experience, I found that the guidance leaned heavily toward a more individualistic perspective, even in situations where accountability and mutual respect should have been central to the conversation. There were moments where concerns I brought up were met with responses that felt dismissive of deeper values or boundaries. It left me feeling like the standard being used was “whatever feels right to the individual,” rather than taking into account the impact on others or the health of relationships. This may not be an issue for everyone, but if you’re someone who’s looking for counseling that upholds more grounded or value-based support, it might be worth asking in advance about the counselor’s approach to certain topics. This is just something I wish I had known beforehand. Especially counselors who are younger, this was my experience here.

Looking for a therapist that's affordable? This MIGHT be a goof fit for you. Let's find out. 1. First things first, this place has some good therapists - I repeat - some. During my visitstions, I have gone through about 6 different people to find someone who works best with me and/or does their job to begin with. But nonetheless, I did in fact find one that I loved and was actually working with me to make like better. 2. They're willing to help you and adjust to whom or what you need but do tend to push medication on you right away before getting enough information. When I first started, I was an angry teen who didn't want to even be here. Trying to open up was just the absolute worst, especially if the therapist I was paired with just wasn't the right fit or good at their job. Once I found the right one, I began looking forward to my visits. Crazy, right? 3. They even wrote a letter stating my dog was my ESA (Emotional Support Animal) and let me bring her to my visits. I don't know if it's changed anytime in the last few years but it was a lot of help for me. 4. They're super clean - like freakishly. There's no trash even in the trash cans, the carpets are spotless, the bathrooms are stocked with their necessities, etc. 5. Speed. For the most part, they are pretty accurate with their scheduling and get you in there. Now granted, if you spend a little extra time since it's been such a healthy session, they don't rush you out. They gave a smooth transition to end the session and get you set up for next time. Try it out. You night like it. Or you won't. I don't know you.
