Beyond anything I could ever expect. From admission to aftercare this facility is the best there is (and I have been a few places). If you have ever had a bad experience elsewhere.. then come here. I myself have been to a lux rehab..but it didn't have the program they provided here.

Accepted Insurance

WhiteSands Treatment, Fort Myers works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. The length of stay at the detoxification program is determined according to the specific needs of the patient.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) is a modality based on strengthening moral reasoning, that can be used in substance abuse treatment. Originally created to help criminal offenders stop committing crimes, it is a structured approach that includes both group and individual counseling, as well as homework exercises. The MRT workbook is structured around 16 steps (units) focusing on 7 treatment issues, including building a healthy, positive identity; developing a higher frustration tolerance; and forming a strong moral belief structure. Participants meet 1-2 times weekly in groups, and can complete all steps of the MRT program in 3-6 months.

The facility was immaculate and the staff was great. Comfy beds and very welcoming from the treatment when I first arrived until the day of completion. I chose to do PHP to continue my recovery because the counseling and therapy was so beneficial. Always new things to learn and I am confident that I can achieve success in my sobriety!! I recommend it to all!

White Sands in Fort Myers is the real deal if you’re serious about improving yourself and staying sober. It’s a smaller facility compared to the big ones—like their Plant City location that has 100+ clients—but for me, smaller means better. I’ve always had more success when I can get one-on-one help and build real camaraderie with a tighter group. The staff here is solid from top to bottom—even down to the BHTs (techs). Julian, Genny, Stephanie, Amy, Nichole, Hannah, and Nate all stood out for going out of their way to help and accommodate my needs. Of course, there are rules, and you’ve got to respect them. But if you’re willing to work with the staff, they’ll meet you halfway as long as it keeps everyone safe and focused on recovery. My case manager, Janette, was incredible. She went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and productive. I wasn’t planning on continuing with PHP, but residential gave me so much that I wanted to keep building on it. Janette set it up in a flexible way that fit my schedule and life outside, and even though she could’ve handed me off to a new case manager, she’s stayed in touch and continued to look out for me. My therapist, Morgan, was exactly what I needed—professional, structured, and focused on helping me lay out a real game plan for long-term success. The group facilitators, Lee and Cindy, made a huge difference too, especially through their teaching and communication during group therapy sessions. And Pastor Rob—he took me under his wing and helped me reconnect with my spirituality and my higher power, something that had been missing from all my previous recovery attempts. Because of him, I leave White Sands with a new confidence that I don’t have to do this alone. This place gave me more than treatment—it gave me tools, guidance, and people who actually care. Five stars. Winston

I was at White Sands from October 22 to November 2024, and I have remained sober since my time there. My best advice is to arrive with an open mind and not let the little things throw you off track. You’re going there for one reason: to get help with addiction — period. The staff truly cares and provides so many valuable tools for recovery. I’ll be honest — I was a difficult patient. I was rude, temperamental, and complained constantly. But I also listened. And because I listened, I walked away with the foundation I needed for a sober life. If you go in with the mindset to take what you need, leave the rest, and make sobriety your full-time job, White Sands is the perfect launching point. I only wish I had focused less on my complaints and more on the incredible therapy and support offered. For anyone considering treatment: commit, be open, and give yourself fully to the process. White Sands gave me the tools to start again, and I highly recommend it to anyone serious about recovery.
