I was unfairly dropped from psychological care for what they said was missed appointments (which had to happen due to emergency family situations, I am not going to let people I love be hospitalized or die despite that being apparently what the bureaucrats who run this place want.) This caused a whole host of mental health issues that I am still recovering from now.To be fair, all the providers I have seen here have been wonderful. They will treat you like a person who has value and do their best to help you get better. I cannot speak highly of them enough. The administration is made up of uncaring, unpleasant individuals who will not see you as human though. They will lie and gaslight like it is second nature to them. So be warned what you are getting into.

I am leaving this review on my brother s behalf since he has issues typing. My brother stated that he was extremely pleased with the whole team at Northwestern mental health hospital located in Woodstock. He was also pleased with Dr. Bateman as he was very helpful and set up a great follow up plan. He also stated that all the nurses were very friendly and look like they love what they do. Since my brother has sleeping issues, the only thing that he was not pleased with is that they would wake him up between 5 AM and 7 AM to take his vitals. He was pleased with having his own room. The other thing he did not like was the noise from opening and closing doors at all hours of the night and early in the morning. We were shocked to see one star reviews, specially those that did not leave any information as to why they gave one star.

Accepted Insurance

Centegra Behavioral Health Outpatient works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
The Intensive Outpatient Program provides care to adults with mental health disorders that cannot be managed in a traditional outpatient setting or as a step down from inpatient or residential care. The Intensive Outpatient Program meets three to five days per week for three hours a day, for three 50-minute group therapy sessions, either in the morning or the afternoon.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Illinois is designed to help people recover from addiction to a number of substances. The length of each program and its intensity tend to vary, and the plan of care is based on your individual needs.

The term co-occurring is used to indicate a person has both a mental health condition and struggles with substance use. The co-occurring disorders program helps people to see how their substance use and their mental health symptoms are related. The program addresses ways to manage both conditions at the same time. Participation in this treatment track is based on the patient's needs and is a decision made between each patient and the treatment staff.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Tipper has been visiting patients for several years at Centegra Health System. She is not your typical volunteer, though. Tipper is a dachshund/sheltie mix owned by Nanci Tayler and she is one of more than 30 dogs participating in Centegra’s Animal Assisted Therapy Program called Caring Paws. Studies have shown that visits from a therapy dog reduce blood pressure, feelings of anxiety, stress levels and loneliness, all of which aids in the healing process. At Centegra, therapy dogs visit patients in the waiting areas, at Centegra Sage Cancer Center as well as in the nursing units.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation. Family involvement is encouraged and family therapy sessions are offered to all program participants. They recommend that patients share their experience in the program with their family so they can understand what patients are working on and reinforce their changes.

Group therapy is the basis of the IOP and PHP programs. People often find the group-based treatment approach is helpful in assuring them they are not alone in their thoughts, feelings and circumstances. The professional staff provides education and guidance while the group itself provides useful feedback and support. Group size depends on how many people are enrolled in the program on any given day. Typically, groups are 6-12 people. There are open discussion groups called process groups where patients ask for and receive feedback from other group members on current struggles. Some groups are more educational in nature and are geared to teaching specific skills to manage symptoms. These groups may focus on topics such as anger management, coping strategies, enhancing self-compassion, cognitive behavioral therapy skills or relapse prevention skills. Other group sessions are experiential where the learning comes from doing. Art therapy and yoga are some examples of experiential groups.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

First time here I got stuck in traffic on my way in, 1pm appointment, tried calling at 12:54 to let them know I am running late, was on hold until 1:17 when I arrived due to an unexpected traffic jam, then get told they can’t help me and can only reschedule me because I was 2 minutes past the “grace period” screw this place. I wouldn’t be associated if I was not court ordered by the law to be.

This weekend, there was a mental health crisis with a family member and the beds were full at Northwestern inpatient, so we had to go to another behavioral hospital. This family member had been at Northwestern inpatient and outpatient two other times before this and had a good experience. The inpatient hospital he is at now unfortunately has been a terrible experience compared to our experience at Northwestern. Instead of just leaving a bad review on their page, I figured I’d leave a good review here as well. The experiences we’ve had at Northwestern have been full of compassionate and caring professionals. They kept us updated on our loved one (with consent of course) and seemed to really invest themselves into finding the right care for him. I thought this was how they all were, and after this experience at the other hospital, boy was I wrong. If you need a place that you can trust your loved one going through a mental health crisis will be treated with compassion, this is the place. Thank you for all of your help in the past, and if we end up in this situation again, you will be the first place we go to in the future.

My personal experience has been mixed. My sessions with the NP have been outstanding. My appointments with the psychiatrist were a waste of my time, he was hiding behind his computer writing notes to his Medical Assistant. (I have been in therapy for a long time, I'm new to the area, and mostly need medication adjustments.)

This place saved me during a difficult time in my life. Shout out to all the therapists in the outpatient program. Every single one of them helped me in their own way. From the initial interview to art therapy, processing group and work shops for better understanding of different tools to cope with. You all are amazing!!
