About Lighthouse Detox – Jupiter Medical Center

Lighthouse Detox – Jupiter Medical Center in Jupiter, Florida, was a program that helped adults safely wean their bodies off of alcohol or chemical dependency. They offered detox and inpatient treatment and served as the first step in addiction recovery for adults who were ready to turn over a new leaf.

Lighthouse Detox has closed down permanently. However, the Jupiter Medical Center is still in operation, providing a variety of medical and health and wellness services.

Medically Supervised Detoxification

The core of Lighthouse Detox was helping adults safely wean their bodies off of their chemical dependency. This was done through the use of medically supervised detox support by highly trained and experienced staff.

Once your body was stabilized, you would have received other therapies including counseling and medication assisted treatment if it was required. They also offered holistic therapies such as yoga, vibroacoustic therapy and massage therapy.

Short Term Inpatient Care

Because this was a detox facility, many of the clients who sought services here stayed an average of 5 to 7 days. After this they would have been connected to other recovery and outpatient programs in the community.

Compassionate Care

This program was deeply rooted in evidence-based clinical practices, and the care team here was known as incredibly compassionate and kind. Through counseling and other services, they addressed your emotional and social needs.

Adding to the personalized care was the size of the program. It was a smaller unit with an average of 15 clients at any given time receiving services here.

I had a CT scan on August 13th. My nurse, Megan, was just the best nurse you could get. She was amazing. She had other patients, yet she was so attentive, and was very comforting and explained everything. She gave me such wonderful care with such kindness. Megan is an outstanding example of a nurse. JMC is very fortunate to have her! Thanks for making my day go easier that day! Thanks Megan. You are an asset to JMC! sincerely, Sherri Richardson

I recently had outpatient surgery at Jupiter Medical Center and the experience was amazing. My surgeon was Dr. Leary, who is also my doctor/oncologist. The entire team from the check in staff, nurses, anesthesiologists and my surgeon were extremely friendly, caring and professional. Every single person I encountered from the time I walked in the front entrance to the time I was wheeled out to my husband after being discharged made me feel comfortable and at ease. Thank you Jupiter Medical Center for making a stressful event tolerable!

Cyrus Kavasmaneck might very well KILL YOU. He discharged me with a pulse of 38. He lied and said he administered a Saline Drip and IV when one was never given. They never pierced my skin. They let the drip soak up into a sponge and when I caught them "Cyrus Kavasmaneck/ Jupiter Medical" they "discharged " me. Cyrus Kavasmaneck should be investigated for Malpractice. And for breaking his Hippocratic oath.

Accepted Insurance

Lighthouse Detox – Jupiter Medical Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

Often referred to as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers an intensive treatment option that allows individuals to return home at night. PHP treatment typically requires a minimum of 20 hours a week for an average of 90 days. Participants attend daily therapeutic sessions, receive medication management, and have access to skilled medical professionals. While costs can vary, most insurance will fully or partially cover a partial hospitalization program.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) involve frequent and robust therapeutic sessions for clients requiring high-level care. Clients may engage in a combination of medication assisted treatment (MAT), addiction counseling, recovery skills training, and holistic therapies for a minimum of nine and a maximum of 20 hours per week. Intensive outpatient rehab is designed primarily for persons in early recovery, those exiting detox or inpatient care, and those at an elevated relapse risk.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient rehabs encompass multiple levels of care to facilitate clients' progress through their recovery journey. Clients who are stepping down from inpatient treatment may require intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment, which involves more frequent and substantive therapeutic interventions than does standard outpatient care. Outpatient centers typically provide extensive addiction counseling, including individual, group, and family therapy. Medication assisted treatment programs (MAT) and recovery-focused life skills training are also common in outpatient care.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
military-program thumbnail image

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
teen-program thumbnail image

Teen Program

Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Therapists who apply cognitive behavioral therapy in Florida believe patient thoughts and behaviors are closely linked. They use this treatment method to help clients change their thought patterns so they can also change behaviors and break free from substance abuse.

Dialectical behavior therapy in Florida consists of individual therapy and group instruction. This structured program is a form of psychotherapy that incorporates the development of skills for managing emotions and relationships.

Group therapy provides a safe and supportive environment for people in Florida who are struggling with drug addiction. There you can openly discuss the challenges and progress you're making without fear of judgment from your peers who experience many of the same things you are.

Individual therapy often includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This is a structured approach to identifying and changing negative thought patterns. During therapy you learn how what you think drives your actions so you can develop healthier coping strategies to manage addiction triggers and reduce drug use.

Am not someone, who would get a “not so perfect dinner” and send it back, but rather- be silent while understanding that there can be unpredictable issues or circumstances. However, I am overwhelmingly disappointed with a recent experience in the emergency room at Jupiter Medical Hospital. Having been in the medical field for 50 years, I understand it well and have been rewarded by a career that takes, but also gives back immensely. Medicine and nursing are not just a job, but caring for other people. It is a service provided to the client and paid by the client- expecting to being treated with compassion, respect and trust. Expecting effective and timely communication. The time spent, lasted 6 hours and left us feeling somewhat abandoned, not knowing what was the next plan of care. Left with no call button and curtains pulled around. Not sure if it was for privacy or avoidance. Heard 3 times, someone calling for help and noting several employees at the desk, not acknowledging the patient’s call or even a turn of the head. Patients sitting for hours in a chair without asking if they needed anything, even a glass of water, toilet or blanket. Not acknowledging their comfort, anxiety or concerns. Only one individual turned a smile. Hours went by without acknowledgement that they were monitoring the status of the health condition- if they were monitoring, it was not obvious. Had to twice seek assistance to correct a situation where the blood pressure machine was continuously inflating and deflating because it was reset improperly when disconnected by staff. When tried to get updates on what to expect, encountered some disinterested and curt staff. Indicating they messaged the physician and we would have to wait until he responds. There was no particular staff member that was assigned or accountable, so was unsure who was in charge of caring for my friend. Felt as if we were imposing on their space. Is this what medicine and nursing have evolved to? If you are not in the business of caring for people, perhaps you are not in the place you were meant to be. There are still caring people in the world who would love this job.

Additional 1 star review! I went to the ER because I was extremely ill. All they gave me was a terrible IV infusion that did nothing to help me, ran a blood test, and I had to hobble out of my seat to even beg for help because of how desperately ill I was while left to sit there after being admitted. Not only that, I was charged $1500 by the hospital itself and later $366 by Envision Physicians Group. The New York Times ran an article on January 15th about how more than half of non-profit hospitals utilize a for profit federal contractor called Apexus to abuse the 340B program to "...charge huge markups on medicine". All those charges? That was AFTER my insurance kicked in. I am almost certain that Jupiter Medical utilizes Apexus. I was also told by the billing department that the charges also had to do with my geographical area. This means that I am gouged on pricing simply for living in Jupiter because more rich folk live here than average. This whole thing is crooked, and I should have learned my lesson 6 years ago after getting terrible service here and not even being seen for 5 hours! I will never come back here, even if I'm dying

My mother is having surgery today (for the third time). They decided to tell us once we are at the hospital this morning that she has to stay overnight…never mentioned this before and this surgery was scheduled weeks ago. We have none of her things and now have to drive all the way back home over a hour to get here. Absolutely ridiculous.

Response from the owner
We're sorry for the miscommunication and inconvenience this caused. Wishing your mother a speedy recovery.

I decided to go to the emergency room 08/04/2025 after 6 days of bleeding in my 7 week pregnancy due to severe pain, my sister my biggest support accompanied me and brought me to the hospital, she brought her baby and I brought mine since we had no one to take care of them, the moment we entered everything was fine until they moved us to a stretcher in a room and this older lady nurse called Michelle Moody, RN came in interrupted my nurse to say that my sister could not be here and that she had to leave because she said so and I explained to her that she was my sister and that I needed her with me because I did not want to be alone with my baby, she began to say multiple times that she did not care in a rude and arrogant way and said that she was going to call security to which I responded that I did not want her service that I did not want her there in the room she continued saying that she did not care and threatened to call the police so I chose to leave I let her know that if my sister could not be with me at such an important moment, what better I was going to the Wellington hospital and she told me to just leave, very unprofessional and aggressive, showing no empathy towards the patient and demonstrating that her job is not good, and she can’t care less. The staff didn’t interfere nobody says nothing they just stare and ignore, leaving me with no options and praying not to lose my baby. When we went to the Wellington hospital it was a totally different thing, my sister, 8 month old niece and 2 year old son were able to accompany me throughout the entire process and they stressed that they would never do that to me here, all the staff was very kind and everything went quickly, my baby is at risk of miscarriage but I am still praying that everything stays okay, the stress that Mrs. Michelle Moody, RN caused me in front of my babies I will never forgive her for, the hospital may be close to my house but I would rather drive 45 minutes to the Wellington hospital and receive good treatment for me and my family than to be mistreated and have so much inconsideration with a single pregnant mother. Here is my picture in Wellington hospital

I am very disappointed by being billed "a convenience fee" when I came for a radiology test. I was not informed of this additional cost at time of scheduling, registration, or pre-procedure. When I tried several times to contact the billing department I was "cut off", placed on eternal hold, and after leaving a callback number, not called back. I did give permission to leave a message. I finally talked to a person who stated she did not know what a "convenience fee" was, but could send me another bill in the mail with an explanation. Never got it. I am now being threatened with payment collection emails and calls. What is a "convenience fee" ???? That's not helpful if your billing people don't even know or won't take the time to follow up. I will be going to another hospital as I was "inconvenienced" by having to pay or go to collection. Too bad I can't bill you for this inconvenience fee.

Upon staying at Jupiter medical center and receiving my bill, payments have been made that aren't accounted for. They will take your money, and thousands of it, but not account for payment on your chart stating that you owe more than you really do. I have been at it every month with them for a year, to try to "find" the payment. Even sent over documentation of payment and nope, you guessed it, nothing. I advise you to go elsewhere to get care! You can't get anyone on the phone in the higher ups, since their billing company is over seas no matter how hard you try. It looks like others have also had the same issue based on the reviews, which says enough at this point. Avoid this place.

The absolute worst experience delivering at this hospital back in May 2024. The nurse kicked me and my family out of the room as we had just received our food days after delivering my son via C section. We had just finished our maternity photos done by the HOSPITAL. Made us leave in 15 minutes. Thank God my husband, mom, AND boss was there to help because I was wheeled chaired out while holding my newborn. DIDNT let me eat my dinner…It took me a while to post this review because I had to process my emotions and realize what a terrible, traumatic experience that was. We had no warning on being release and even if we had to, there’s no reason why they did it the way it was done. Also, the hospital did a terrible job at circumcising my son who is going to need another surgery. So please BE AWARE! The nurses just push formula and made me feel terrible for not wanting to give my baby formula. Mind you I breast fed my daughter for 2 years before him and I’ve been breast feeding him for a year now so shame on them. They have sent bills to collections even though I am fully covered with insurance. They wrongfully bill insurances and try to make it the person’s responsibility. I WILL NEVER GO BACK!

Nurses and cNA’s were hard to find at times, one night around 7:00, they made my husband lay in his poop for almost 40 minutes. Not a lot of communication between Doctors.
