About New Perspectives at White Deer Run

New Perspectives at White Deer Run is an inpatient substance use treatment facility in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. The facility houses 40 beds that are available for adult men and women who are dealing with substance abuse and co occurring mental health disorders. The rehab center offers services ranging from detoxification to aftercare planning.

Experiential Therapies For Healing

One of the main treatments that New Perspectives at White Deer Run makes use of is experiential therapy to heal you physically and emotionally. The types of experiential therapy provided include mind body and spirit healing, art and music therapy, nature focused therapeutic tools, and many other options.

The goal of these approaches is to help individuals learn new ways to process their emotions and manage their stress without using substances. You can feel encouraged to try new activities in Lebanon after completing treatment, such as visiting Park at Governor Dick or finding healthy options at Lebanon Farmers Market.

Life in Residential Treatment

At the facility, you’ll benefit from round the clock supervision, a structured schedule, and multiple therapeutic opportunities. Your treatment will consist of individual, group, and family therapy. Your group sessions will focus on topics such as gender specific issues, coping strategies, recovery celebrations and self group.

I like that they also have groups focused on specific mental health issues you may also have, such as the anxiety group and the bipolar disorder group. These sessions will not only increase your knowledge of addiction and recovery but also give you a chance to practice healthy interpersonal skills and receive support from your peers.

I completed the program twice. The nurses are very attentive. The techs are very helpful, making sure everyone has clean linens, detergent to wash clothes, and ensuring a safe recovering space. The portions of food will leave you stuffed. The cook seasons everything to perfection. There are 6 to 7 groups a day, usually starting with AA in the morning and a speaker during the evening hours. Great place to start your journey to recovery.

My father attended this facilty a left after a month due to unfair treatment. His counselor LaToya Was unprofessional and denied him a phone call when he hadn t had one yet that week. (They will tell you only one phone call a week) and was clearly more worried about other admittees who she most Likely had interest in. After my dad left because he couldn t speak with me or his family she tried saying I have a direct line which was never communicated to me. Very hard to get a hold of these people and when my dad left he was denied his belongings and no one ever calls you back!! Danette burg is another one who makes excuses and constantly says she never checked her messages when you call she is unprofessional just like everyone I ve dealtWith at this place. DO NOT GO HERE. They will LIE to get you in here. You are not allowed to make phone calls. Cigarette breaks are very restricted, but they lie about that too. They take your personal belongings & if you want to leave, they hold your belongings hostage for A MINIMUM OF 48 HOURS & you have to try to get a hold of administration to MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET THEM BACK. The bathroom is so dirty, I wouldn t bathe my dogs in it. The food is worse than prison food & you only get 1 cup of coffee in the morning. They had me sign ppwk with a BAC level of .4 & strip naked (when I was so intoxicated I couldn t consent) & didn t send me to the hospital to stabilize & then sent falsified documents to Lebanon County D & A that my BAC was 1.6 & that I had been drinking wine when I don t even drink wine EVER.

Accepted Insurance

New Perspectives at White Deer Run works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehabs specialize in providing comprehensive care for clients who choose to remain in their homes and communities during treatment. Their services may include transitional support for clients stepping down from intensive inpatient programming. Ambulatory medical detox may be provided for clients at low risk for withdrawal complications. Many programs include evening, night, and weekend services to accommodate clients who are working professionals or caregivers. Addiction counseling and life skills training are common treatment modalities.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Clients engaged in intensive outpatient programs (IOP) live and work in their home community while receiving frequent, high-level care. These programs offer personalized care designed to evolve with the clients' changing needs. Many intensive outpatient rehabs require a minimum of nine hours of treatment per week, but high-risk clients and those in early recovery may receive up to 20 hours of care weekly. IOP services generally include addiction counseling, recovery education, and holistic therapies, such as massage.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients receiving services from a rehab aftercare program are usually stable and in the maintenance phase of recovery, having completed detox and/or intensive inpatient treatment. Rehab aftercare services can vary widely based on clients' individual and evolving needs, but often include peer coaching, relapse prevention support, 12 step program induction, and medical, mental health, and social service referrals. Individual care plans are typically developed by the client in partnership with their case manager and care team.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Residents of a sober living home in Pennsylvania pay rent and contribute to household maintenance. For their contributions, individuals get the opportunity to live in a substance-free environment and receive support from others in recovery while all residents practice sober-living skills. Sober living expenses are not covered by insurance since they are not treatment services. However, grants and scholarships are often available to help individuals afford rent for men's or women's sober living.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services bring extensive experience to the planning and conducting of drug interventions in Pennsylvania. These experts can facilitate interventions in a sensitive manner that encourages positive outcomes. The goal of the intervention is to educate the individual about addiction and the consequences of their substance use and encourage them to get the treatment they need. Interventions can be effective with all types of drugs and alcohol addiction.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
Because the severity of withdrawal symptoms can fluctuate, constant monitoring under 24-hour clinical care in Pennsylvania is recommended for early recovery. As you undergo detox, medical staff will supervise your health and ensure severe symptoms do not develop or threaten your life. Professional counselors will also be available to treat mental and emotional health needs.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

White deer run Lebanon PA Worst detox I ever was at ..who detox's someone on benzos and opiates in 4 days??? They say 5 but it's not you leave at 9am the 5th day. They bill you for it though. They want to rush you out of detox to get that money and fill up the bed for someone else to get there money. Its not a vibe of helping people at all it's like everyones just going through the motions and they won't give your your meds early but they sure will give them to you late if you don't ask. It's a place that clearly don't get addiction. I'd give zero stars if possible..and any woman like goodluck cuz they sure remember every guy there but not having one female. And we were right next to a mens bedroom and the womens rehab is not like the guys my experience was alot of uptight drama where the men wouldn't act like that at all. And last thing you need while trying to focus only on yourself is women like that. Crying over nothing. Some were cool and others just want to start something over nothing. So if you got a attitude don't go cuz you'll end up catching assault charges.

Highly suggest rehabbing elsewhere. Food was always cold, TV room only fits about 5 people w/ a community of 20 men, minimal comfort meds, Danni at the front desk needs a lesson on manners & the facility itself was understaffed. My husband tested positive for covid on his 8th day there & they wanted to quarantine him in a room with only a bed & bathroom. He decided to leave since he wouldn't be able to attend any meetings & showing no symptoms. After asking for the form that he signed, while under the influence, about AMA'ing they refused b/c the "person who had access to it" wasn't there. Those documents are in the patients chart which should always be accessible. Then they refused to return his belongings, keys, cell phone for 2 days, which left him without anything for 2 days in late January with the temp being -1 on one of those nights. Their unprofessional & immoral rules also left him without his meds. When finally picking up his belongings they almost sent me out with 3 empty bags. Then with only 1 of 2 trash bags & the majority of his cosmetics missing. So after addressing this for the third time we finally got everything. We do not recommend this facility, not only b/c of our terrible experience but it's right across the stone road from a sewer plant that's pretty potent.

Do not go here for help. Unsanitary, bathrooms flooded and they kept the soiled carpets in. Constantly ran out of food. Ran out of cups, and bowls, silverware. Nurse's don't care about the patients. Constantly had problems with my medication. Staff treat you like prisoners. Belittle you and say if you don't like it here you can leave. On top of all that it's next to a waste facility. Constant smell. Ashley is the worst person there and will downright insult you given any chance. No structure, ended up spending half our time watching outdated DVDs. Went to get sober and did thanks to Zack and Pete but can not recommend this place to anyone. Also you only get a 10 minute call a week. Place needs to be shut down. Edit: Sent an email, never got a response. Why am I not surprised.

My girlfriend is there and haven't heard from her in over 2 weeks I left a message cause I'm really concerned about her and I haven't gotten a call back. This was my first rehab experience. It was a couple years ago for me. I found it to be a very accepting place. I am currently still on the suboxone plan. It will work for you, only if you are finally ready. You must be the one to see that you are allowing yourself to be used and abused by a little chemical cocktail.. whatever is yours. It's using you just as hard as you are using it. Nothing in this world is perfect. I'm Nate. You can beat this! Don't give up!
