I tried transferring here with SMI: there is a coordinator of transfers. You cannot have their contact info until he calls you first. This leaves SMI patients in a bind where the new health system is dragging their feet but the old system will not prescribe (understandably). Be aware transfers take A WHILE.

Accepted Insurance

San Tan Adult Clinic works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

I’m extremely disappointed with the level of service and case management at Southwest Network Chandler. Despite repeated calls, messages, and texts, the staff consistently failed to respond or follow up. This lack of communication led to a serious and unacceptable outcome for a patient relying on their care. Timely support and coordination are critical in behavioral health, and this clinic has shown a troubling disregard for both. The lack of accountability and urgency is alarming and harmful to those they are supposed to serve. For the safety and well-being of vulnerable individuals, there needs to be immediate oversight, and in my opinion, this location should be seriously reviewed — if not shut down entirely — until they can meet even the most basic standards of care.

They are the ones who lie, and when caught, they provoke you to make it seem like you have mental health issues when you understandably get frustrated. This has happened many times, and they continue to get away with it. Now, I just stay silent when they lie repeatedly. Every time I call, the receptionist transfers me to someone named Steve, who is not my case manager, despite me repeatedly asking to be connected directly to my case manager. Even my case manager has questioned why they don’t send the calls directly to her. It seems they do this intentionally to provoke patients for their own amusement. This facility needs to be reviewed by the state medical board for its inappropriate and unprofessional behavior toward patients.

I spent 4+ hours doing an intake and left with the promise of resources for therapy, job rehab, meds and more. After 4 months of waiting to hear ANYTHING about talking to a therapist or the programs they'd mentioned it was still radio silent. I had exactly 2 meds appointments. I missed the original follow up & they actually showed up at my door, called my parents (I'm a grown adult) and constantly called me during work. Not to give me resources but to get me in for more meds. I can't answer my phone on shift, I don't get breaks, and by time I am off shift they are closed so I can't ever call them if I don't have the day off which is rarely on a weekday. I got constant calls about insurance stuff and my missed appointment but it's been 6 months now & I've yet to hear about the resources they say they offer. I tried in person at the clinic for one of my meds appointments to get more info but no one who was trying to contact me was even there to go over things. They have given nothing but empty promises and the only follow through they do is if you make their day inconvenient by not showing up for an appointment. Oh and turns out the meds they prescribed me are known to make one of my medical conditions flare up super bad and I had to find that out in the ER after a bad episode. So all they did was make me more sick and harass me. If you want help...don't waste your time here.

So this place is about as great as they can get with mental health clinics. My doctor listens, my team always gets back to me about referrals and other issues I may have like benefits, employment, etc. the front desk people are always nice to me. They have a pharmacy in the lobby so you can get your meds while you're there, and they have nurses and a doctor as well for any general health issues you may have. (I switched from the Northstar location and still see that doctor so I can say to this one's quality.) When I call for med bridges or anything like that, they get back to me usually within 24 hours. So now the disclaimer. None of these mental health clinics are going to be perfect. Our mental health system sucks. Do they mess up your meds sometimes? On occasion. Do they take long to respond? Sometimes. Is there always someone from your team to talk to? No. Are they short on caseworkers? Yes. Are they late sometimes? Yes. Are you always gonna get the answers you're looking for? No. Can they fix all your problems? No. Are there gonna be times where it's worse than others? Yes. Do they help you transfer to a different clinic if they aren't satisfying your needs? Yes. Most of the time it is a positive experience for me and I can resolve any issues I have with them. And in the past I have had to transfer clinics and the other location made it as painless as it could be, even though it took a minute for it to go through. Some of them seem cold but I feel they are generally trying to help you and improve your situation. But so many people complain about things as if these places are supposed to be perfect. Well they aren't no matter where you go, especially on state insurance.
