Former employee. Left on good terms. I left due to the unsafe conditions of the facility, the lack of leadership, and the overall vision of putting profits first. There is a lot more the public should know and one day maybe it will. But please, do not send a loved one here. Until there is a complete change in leadership and vision I cannot recommend this place. Feel free to reach out to me if you need my recommendation of this facility.

I came to 12 Oaks depressed, angry, and terrified. I knew I was done with dope but I didn't know how to stay that way. But in this beautiful environment with a staff that truly cares enabled me to find and begin to love myself again. The yoga therapy was really helpful with my anxiety as well as getting closer to a higher power. My therapist helped me get in touch with myself. She and Ashley, helped me to see what I needed to work on and to be more kind to myself. The other clients showed me that I could feel safe to have real friendship. I am so grateful to have a place like 12 Oaks that allowed me to recover in a way that worked for me. And I'm more than grateful to have been able to watch the sunrise on the beach every morning and smoke cigarettes! You guys rock! Keep caring and loving us til we can love ourselves.

Accepted Insurance

Twelve Oaks Recovery Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehabs encompass multiple levels of care to facilitate clients' progress through their recovery journey. Clients who are stepping down from inpatient treatment may require intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment, which involves more frequent and substantive therapeutic interventions than does standard outpatient care. Outpatient centers typically provide extensive addiction counseling, including individual, group, and family therapy. Medication assisted treatment programs (MAT) and recovery-focused life skills training are also common in outpatient care.
inpatient iconInpatient
Clients typically choose inpatient rehab when they are in early recovery or are experiencing a crisis that puts them at an increased risk of relapse. They reside at the treatment center for the length of their program, which may range from two weeks to more than 18 months, depending on the program design. Intensive psychotherapy is often the primary treatment modality, but clients in inpatient care may also receive holistic treatment and recovery-focused life skills training.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Twelve Oaks’s IOP rehabilitation treatment programs for substance abuse are designed to provide clients with the rehabilitation treatment, education and support needed to overcome an addiction to drugs or alcohol, while also allowing them to continue to participate fully in their lives. The Intensive Outpatient (IOP) program is 8 weeks and the meetings occur on Monday through Friday from 9am-2:30pm. The normal individualized IOP program is 3 days a week. In addition, the IOP gives process groups and a BB study.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in Florida is an essential part of treatment, particularly with medical detox. Withdrawal symptoms can be severe, and supervised detox provides around the clock access to medical professionals who can adminsiter proper medications and treatment to address these symptoms and step in should an emergency occur. This intensive clinical care will help curb the withdrawal effects, minimize substance dependence, and prepare you for the next step of treatment.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Detoxification from alcohol or drugs is the process used by detox rehab centers to help addicted men and women rid their bodies of the substances they have been abusing. Depending up the nature and severity of a person’s substance abuse history, attempting to undergo detoxification for alcohol or drugs without the medical supervision that is available at a detox rehab center can be painful and potentially fatal. Twelve Oaks Recovery believes that suffering unnecessary symptoms of withdrawal hinders the recovery process. At Twelve Oaks their skilled medical team provide a safe and comfortable detoxification from alcohol or drugs using cutting-edge medications and detox protocols.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

In conjunction with the Twelve Oaks Treatment Program for Addiction, patients can also participate in the following specialty services when appropriate:The Addicted Survivors of PTSD Integrated Recovery Experience(ASPIRE) recovery experience at Twelve Oaks treats those individuals who are seeking relief from the dual impact of substance abuse and traumatic experiences. The specialized track for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) offers psycho education and intensive psychotherapy to those who desire and hope for a more balanced and stable life. Treatment for traumatic stress disorders enables the individual to look at the impact of symptoms associated with trauma experiences that are part of the addiction cycle.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

As a short term therapeutic method, motivational interviewing in Florida requires only a couple of sessions. During these sessions, you'll have the opportunity to talk about your circumstances and any discrepancies between your current situation and future goals. You'll then decide for yourself what changes you want to make.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

This is all based on my personal experience. This facility may be good for some people but not for me at all. I gave the facility 2 chances to help me. The first night I arrived I checked in for mental health and was extremely anxious but did it. Within minutes of my partner leaving I was forced to stay in my room due to a fight that has nothing to do with me. After the fight was cleaned up and the police had left I asked the head nurse to call my partner to just let him reassure me I would be ok. There are no therapists at night. They refused and said the only way to make a call was to leave. I was terrified after the fight due to past trauma. I chose to leave. My mental health is so bad and the lack of choices caused me to give them another try the next day. My partner and I worked with my psychologist of almost 6 years to get all my records sent and sign the releases so the facility could work with him. I got there. All checked in. I was treated like a drug addict even though I was only there for mental health. I was put in a room with a true addict and spent most of the night crying and coloring by the nurse station. During the night the med nurse tried to make me take withdrawals medication even though I was there for mental health. At 8 am I met with the nurse practitioner and doctor via Telehealth. Neither knew anything about me and I was told by the doctor he wouldn’t work with mine. He prescribed 5 different medications without even reviewing my chart from my dr. I have tried many medications over the years. Some have caused horrible side effects. I couldn’t remember which ones but he wouldn’t even check the file to see what I’ve had before. If you are going for mental health don’t do it unless you want to become a junkie. Maybe it’s a great facility for addicts but it is not a good one for mental health.

Sent a loved one here and it was a totally waste of time and money!!! No one answers the phone not even to receive payments. Have tried for 3 months to get someone to call me so I can pay my bill. I can only get admissions and they take a message but still no one ever returns my calls. So frustrating! I just want to pay them off and forget about this horrible, unprofessional place. Did nothing for my loved ones mental health. We thought we were doing the right to seek help but thousands of dollars later, it proved to be a big mistake. Don't go here.

I made the mistake of inquiring about in patient treatment for mental health at this facility. I provided insurance information, which they immediately wrote back and said they did not take, because they don't accept Medicaid or Medicare. That was odd, because my insurance is a PPO through a private employer, and has no affiliation with any government sponsored healthcare. I asked if they were sure, and they spent the next week harassing me via email, text, and phone call. Insisting over and over that my insurance was Medicaid, but, they have private pay options, of course. I don't know if they're that hard up for money that they only want self-pay, or if they just ALL are incompetent, but if they are that horrible before you even are admitted, I can only imagine the poor quality of their treatment. Greedy, petty, detached and just plain incorrect, all around. I would advise avoiding at all cost. Edit: I was texted AGAIN and received a reply for this review within a half hour of posting it. So clearly, they have an abundance of labor available, which could be utilized in a much more efficient manner by investing in a training program for insurance billing, and basic reading and communication skills. Also, I must disagree with the notion that they "understand", and assert that the statement is a desperate, ham-fisted attempt to once again, say that I am wrong, and get the last word, all while maintaining the guise of being "compassionate" or "professional". The request to reach out I find particularly bewildering, for several reasons, including the Herculean effort it takes for them for discontinue unwanted contact. While I do not fashion myself as a particularly intelligent individual, I can confidentiality say I posses the necessary logic and reasoning skills to discern what a poor decision that would be on my part. I have no desire to be further harangued by people who so fervently engage in the perpetuation of unequivically false accounts of reality. Further correspondence would be contradictory to my goal of achieving inner peace and sanity. The fact that these people are in charge of vulnerable individuals is troubling. It is obvious their lack of reading comprehension has resulted in a misunderstanding of the facility's goal of providing a therapeutic environment, instead, they provide experience of terrible, tiresome, tawdry, turbulent, twisted, tasteless, tedious, trifling treachery. TACKY.

I recently completed 30 day residential treatment on Jan 20th 2025. I’ve been in numerous recovery centers, in multiple states, continuously since September 2024. Let me just say, 12 Oaks is definitely one of the best! It’s actually organized and ran quite well. The staff genuinely act like they care…from the therapists and case managers to the kitchen and housekeeping crews! The techs Twyla and Ms. Tammy will forever have a special place in my heart. (They like to look tough lol, but they have genuine caring souls.) Prospective clients … seriously, give this place a shot. It’s worth it! They offer yoga and meditation a couple days a week, also recreation therapy. You can walk on the beach and pier, play corn hole or basketball. After your 8th day you’re allowed to have your cell phone for one hour per day. Nightly peer lead AA/NA meetings. Bible study and they also take you to a wonderful nondenominational church every Sunday if you chose to go! This is the only place I’ve been that immediately starts working on your aftercare plans for housing and setting up aftercare MAT doctor appointments. They will also take you to the DMV to get your ID if needed. I can’t recommend 12 Oaks enough. Remember, what you get out of recovery depends on what you put into it! Put in the work, participate in groups, and attend extra meetings! Follow the rules, be respectful and appreciative you’re even given this opportunity to change your life and work on healing yourself. & I promise you, your time in rehab will go a lot smoother. Thanks again 12 Oaks! - Chelsea (Bug) & Arthur

Had a family member go there and before they would admit her they made me pay a lump sum. After insurance paid they owed me a refund but no one will answer the phone or return messages. On top of that, they told us they treated her condition but she had to leave early because they did not treat her condition, they are focused on addiction only . I would NOT recommend this place
