Cenikor definitely changed my life for the better. They gave me a second opportunity to restart my life and for that I will always be grateful. The staff is very caring and always willing to help with anything you need. They will help you get social security cards, and identification to help you get a job to get back on your feet. And there are many job opportunities local to the facility. I am blessed to have 16 months sober today and could not have done it without Cenikor. If you are looking struggling with alcoholism and or addiction I highly recommend the 30 day residential program and then going to the sober living as they have the staff with the willingness, and the resources to help you.

This place saved my life, plain and simple. I learned so much about myself here with the most beautiful, caring, nonjudgmental human beings I’ve ever met. Everyone that works here has had a day 1 of sobriety like us and that’s what made a difference to me. They know what you’re going through. I walked (more like crawled) into this place with no idea of what I was up against. I was taught about my illness and what my only option was. I healed in a way I never thought possible, and gained the incredible tools for sobriety for when life starts life-ing in the future! They trusted me so I could learn to trust myself. Additionally, the absolutely beautiful fellowship I’ve gained from BARC is something I’ll always be grateful for, utilize, and cherish for the rest of my life! It was such a sad day having to leave. Ms. Kathy, Mr. Billy, Mr. Chuck, Coco, Ashley, Masami, Lisa, Mel, Cortney, Misty, Jenna, Nurse Vicky, Jamie, I don’t know how I would’ve done it without y’all! This place was truly a life saver!! They stopped what they were doing twice within 3 weeks to come rescue me from myself over an hour and a half away. My dad has struggled with drug addiction for 25+ years. He recently had a massive heart attack due to drug use and his situation was becoming dire. We knew if he didn't get help he wasn't going to make it much longer. He finally agreed to get treatment and my sister found this place. He went from not wanting to go to rehab to not wanting to leave this place. He absolutely loved it and loves everyone there. He considers them family. He completed his treatment and the staff is still there to offer him support and help him succeed. Andy has been amazing at helping him find out patient programs. They truly care here. They deserve more than 5 stars.

Best time of my life; it was the staff, the food and the people along side me as patients, that were all really lovely. Of course there were little things I didn’t like so much but they were usually minor like eating in front of others.( I have severe anxiety) Words cannot express how grateful I am to this place, and maybe it was because I went to an amazing unit but I felt safe and comfortable. I’ve actually joked to my family saying “If I ever have another mental breakdown, this is where I wanna go”.😂 I expected the reviews to be incredibly high though so I’m quite surprised, maybe I got the location wrong? (This is simply my perspective of my time here, don’t take my word for it, simply consider it for a moment.)I actually cried so hard when I had to leave, and the staff was comforting me, making sure that I was alright.I felt like I had to leave a review just to wish another person would have this experience as well.

[2021 review] - i've been to a few different hospitals, and menninger puts every other hospital to shame. the staff here actually made me feel cared about. the therapy was helpful, and the nurses are easy to get along with. the food is outstanding! they had a panini grill, dessert everyday, a cafe, and so many food options. they have a nice pool, that i've never used, but my friends enjoyed going. :) the rooms are amazing as well. they have very clean rooms with a very comfortable chair and lovely bedding as well. you actually have space on the bed, wow! the overall experience was so joyful. i love this place and i'll keep the memories i have with me for such a long time. you'll meet some of the best people there, from different locations as well. easily the best i've been to :)

The Nurses there are absolute ANGELS!! Lois (A nurse there) she is such am amazing lady with a warm and caring heart!!! She is just AMAZING and I love her!! It's been a few years since I've been to this place, it was a required outpatient program that I had to do for a legal matter. There were different options on time slots, the classes weren't too big where you'd get anxiety, but they were big enough and diversified enough where I felt comfortable sharing. Even though I did not want to be there, and I made it perfectly clear from the get-go, the staff was super kind and put up with all my BS with a smile! Admissions was extremely easy and if I remember correctly either the state or Medicaid covered the cost. For a cheaper outpatient option, this was one of the better ones I have been to. Overall a pretty decent experience for a rehab facility!

Went here when i was 16 around 2016, i will tell you this, this place will challenge your way of thinking. It was hard sometimes, people dont want to listen and its easy to succumb to negative influences, but these people here genuinely care about the kids they look after. I got to know alot on a personal level and alot of them had been through alot of the same stuff i had been through and could relate. I will say this as someone who has been through alot, you want someone who can relate to you when it comes to a rehabilitation situation. Its easier to trust someone when you know they can feel that pain too. Dont listen to all these lame people giving one stars, none of them know what they're talking about. The councilors and tech staff genuinely want to see these kids do good. They helped me see i had a problem and it isnt right that people want to bash them when they have done so much for me and my peers from that time in my life. If any of you guys see this i love yall and hope yall are doing good. Especially you Ms Haynes and mr Colbert!

I spent almost 6 months here back in 2015-16. I'm 22 now. Mr Wyllie, Ms Wendy, Mr Omar, Mr Antwuan, Mr E , Mr Aladin , all great people. I think about them, my fellow brothers and this place often. My counselor Mr Robinson was awesome as well. They fed us great, we went on trips and before I left we went to the U of H for an anniversary party and it was some o the best memories of my life. they were strict but we were still able to have fun. They looked out and cared about us. I was hard headed and didn't want to listen and I all these years later it hits me.

The open door mission is such a great place. they will take a man who is willing and wanting to change they're direction in life and give them the opportunity to do so.they put a roof over your head, will put clothing on your back and make sure you don't go hungry.the rest of the work is up to you.they will help you get back on God's team.

I see alot of complaints about bed bugs and how this house is ran and people saying they would not recommend anybody thats needing or wanting help to be here.I know for a fact this place has saved countless lives and the people who are actually coming here that want help I can promise they would rather put up with some bed bugs than be in the situation they were in before they arrived Maybe look at it like this if its your son daughter mom dad whoever.Would you rather know they were safe and receiving the help they need.Or maybe recieve that infamous phone call so many have received because the accommodations weren't up to certain peoples standards.I say be grateful that there are facilities like this one,like the Wheelhouse non profit organizations and volunteers willing to dedicate their time to help others.And I'll say this again.ITS FREE AND IT ACTUALLY WORKS.I say having to deal with some bed bugs is way better than sleeping in the streets not knowing where your next meal will come from or worring about being raped or robbed .I think a little bit more appreciation is is due here.

Never thought I’d leave a review for a hospital, but I was genuinely impressed with how warm, attentive, and friendly everyone was—from reception all the way to surgery. Every staff member I encountered was kind, patient, and reassuring, which made a stressful situation much easier to handle.
I wasn’t a patient myself, just someone anxiously waiting and hoping for a successful outcome. Even as a visitor, I felt well taken care of, and it was clear that the people here truly care about their patients and their families.
One small tip: Bring a fleece pullover or a small blanket—it gets pretty cold inside!
