Employee went the extra mile!! Today, when I called and asked to speak with a patient care advocate, I was transferred to Ms. J Laiken's voicemail at Cameron Regional Medical Center. She returned my call and let me know that Dr. Shoaib is no longer with Cameron Regional Medical Center and was not sure how she could help us. I love this doctor's office!! I have rarely had a problem with getting an appointment, even with the pandemic (using tele-health). Dr.Irby, and all of the staff listen to you. They always answer my questions, and if they don't know what is going on with you, they will refer you to someone who will find out. If you have a medical need, and you want a no nonsense, straight answer, go to this clinic!!

This season has been hard with illness, and all of the doctors are booked for days. My 5yo is non-verbal autistic, and we can't wait in a waiting room, hoping to be squeezed in. I called Hamilton Medical Clinic and spoke to Kim. She was so kind and helpful. Instead of pushing us off, she made a few calls and got us set up with a telehealth visit. Such great service. Obviously they were slammed with in-person and telehealth calls. When I met with the Nurse Practitioner, Caring, she was very kind and informative. She wasn't trying to speed through the call and listened to my concerns and gave advice needed. Great experience all-around (as great as one can be for a sick kiddo anyways) ☺️

When I arrived at Sana Lake, I was in complete denial. I didn't want to be there and was fully prepared to "prove everyone wrong." Instead, with the help of the incredible staff, I proved myself wrong. There are so many people who made a lasting impact on my recovery journey that it's impossible to thank them all enough. Tina was one of my favorite staff members. She has a wonderful way of blending learning, healing, and creativity. As an artist, I especially appreciated being able to work on arts and crafts while participating in group discussions. More importantly, she is authentic, approachable, and genuinely cares about the members she works with. The wellness team was exceptional. Jake ("Coach") inspired me to make healthier choices, including eating more leafy greens. His workouts, boxing sessions, and wellness groups were challenging but somehow always fun. Moni kept us laughing while teaching us about posture, stretching, and acu-detox. Mia's yoga classes were wonderfully grounding and provided much-needed moments of peace and reflection. The nursing staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and compassionate. Harmony, for example, always managed to make me smile while ensuring I received excellent care. The MCS staff also went above and beyond. One day I asked where an office was located, and instead of simply pointing me in the right direction, a staff member personally walked me there despite it being on the opposite side of the building. That level of care and attentiveness was common throughout my stay. Lacie, Sherrie, Sherry, and the entire MCS team were exceptional, personable, and always willing to help. Tim deserves special recognition. On my first day, when I was nervous and uncertain, he noticed the dinosaurs on my shirt and struck up a conversation because I mentioned I loved dinosaurs. That small act immediately helped me feel comfortable and welcomed. Throughout my stay, he continued making dinosaur references that always brought a smile to my face and made Sana Lake feel a little more like home. Brittney's groups were consistently engaging and educational. I learned a tremendous amount from her. The same can be said for Bre, whose groups were equally valuable whenever I had the opportunity to attend them. Amanda always seemed to come through whenever help was needed, and Jo was a thoughtful listener who made people feel heard. One person who truly stood out was Stacie from the kitchen staff. I made a meaningful connection with her, and she frequently shared words of wisdom from across the lunch line that often arrived exactly when I needed them most. Faith was an absolute angel and helped guide me through many important concepts that strengthened my recovery. Chase also excelled at combining fun with learning and reminded us that sobriety doesn't mean life stops being enjoyable. Most importantly, every single staff member contributed to my recovery. Together, they helped me build a toolbelt full of practical skills, insights, and coping strategies that I will carry with me long after leaving Sana Lake. They created an environment where I felt supported, challenged, encouraged, and cared for. To anyone considering treatment: I arrived skeptical, resistant, and convinced I didn't belong here. I am leaving with gratitude, hope, and a stronger foundation for recovery than I ever thought possible. Thank you, Sana Lake. This place helped me rebuild from the ground up. They brought back structure, gave me space to mentor younger folks, and let me move my body again. Depression hit hard, but they knew how to support that too. Not perfect, but it gave me my purpose back.

Finding a place that saw all of me meant everything. The staff respected my pronouns, and therapy felt safe and real. Art groups helped me speak without words. The food was just ok, but the care? Deeply human. I wish there were more gender-inclusive spaces like this. It wasn’t perfect but it was healing, and that’s what I needed. I walked out stronger, finally feeling seen.

I usually go to St Luke’s Barry Rd, but needed to be seen sooner than later so I took an appointment here at SMITHVILLE. The experience has been wonderful, from the front desk, to the Nurse, lastly to the doctor. Even the lady that took my blood was so kind and quick! They were very engaging and really listened to my concerns, which is so important to me. I recommend this St Luke’s 100%!!!

To anyone reading this who is thinking about checking themselves in for mental health purposes, or maybe you’re on the way there and wondering what to expect: You will get better here. There are so many people here who genuinely want to help. The night staff especially is really amazing and will make you smile. Stick it out through the food and water which are both very gross. (Ask for flavor packets for the water and you’ll be just fine.) It’s worth it. I really wish this place had clocks, though. A lot of patients, myself included were even more anxious that we never knew what time it was and were always asking everyone else. I hated the food so much because it was worse than dog food but hopefully you can find something you like. Because it really is worth it. Especially if you meet Richie, Phil, Lori, Dr. Perry and the therapists. Also Greta the doggy.

Got the best help😁 Mrs and Mrs D were the highlights of my days always so funny to hear about their childs latest shanangin! And their is another staff member, she is very confidential so no names but when we where down she got us started paper, it was that little kind gesture that made us all so happy, and then there is Mrs H she is so sweet and gentle always there if you needed to talk. And then there was Mrs G she got along with us all so fast! What made us so comfortable around her was because when she first came on the unit, she wasn't a stranger at all so warm to all of us and treated us all in the moment and not the past And then there was Mrs L and Mrs C they were hard to warm up to at first but they were my favorite night staff the were so hummurous and there for all of us whether good or bad! And Mrs J she was a gentle lady, loved us all. And Mrs T and Mrs S they were also night staff, a little clumsy with their jobs and how to do things but overall such great care! And there was another staff member she was a nurse Mrs H and she loved me a lot, and always made me smile! and Mr H he always gave great life lessons! and Mr C he does well at his job, but hated a lot BECAUSE he does his job. He get a lot of criticism and that's hard to handle 247! And don't forget MRS R my therapist, she did an amazing job she needs a raise, hahaha! And they had an amazing horse program, I won't say anything anout the therapists though, I didn't have an exact connection with those lovely ladies. Anywho, this Ellie, I discharged 4-26-26 it's almost been two months! And I've been doing amazing with all the hard work you put in to me! All with love - bluey🩵

I go there for my suboxone and they Nurse Practioner, Carla, is amazing. Truly goes above and beyond to help people. I couldn't ask for a better place. Front desk people can be overly rude and undependable but otherwise it's a great place.

I've been a client here since 2011, and I'm so grateful. It's a life saver, but like all recovery clinics you can only get out of it what you put into it. It's easy to blame others when things go wrong, but it's almost always our fault! I had a very hard time, until I stopped arguing and followed direction! They know about recovery, all I knew was self destruction, but thought I was so smart! Now I'm doing really good. This place is great. Update: It's now called Rediscover Transitions, staff is great, doctors great! Give it a shot if you need it!

I’ve had a very positive experience here so far. While I was hoping to access additional services, it appears they are currently understaffed. However, I appreciated that one of the front desk staff was especially helpful—she provided me with a list of alternative resources in the area that offer the services I’m seeking.

I am so happy I was referred to the guidance center. After suffering several crises, I didn’t know where to turn and ended up inpatient . After coming out of inpatient care, I was so nervous to go back to daily life. I was referred to the Giidence Center and the team that I have working with me are amazing! Shout out to Ellie, Mindy and Sara ❤️ The team is always kind caring and supportive answers all my questions and helps me find additional supports when I need it. I can’t say enough about this place!

I have had a family member addicted to fentanyl for years. I have taken them to many places only to be sent away with a script of suboxone. This DID NOT WORK. it was only abused. Then I made the phone call that is saving my sons life and he wad on detox within 4 hours of that call. 5 days later he entered their 90 day program and is doing great. He is 7 days in that program today, my grandson and I were able to have a short visit with him and he looks a thousand times better.. he looks healthy and his mind is clear and there is hope. FINALLY. They didn't just write him a script and send him away like everyone else listed below Research Rediscover(the absolute worst) Truman hospital Centerpoint All the above failed where Heartland is succeeding. Make that call to them they know what they are doing.

This amazing caring staff IS the difference at heartland. This is an underrated community resource in independence and Jackson county. It's not the abundance of resources, or judgements free environment of learning the art of new patterns and behaviors as tools to combat a variety of epidemics that affect every family. It is the HUMAN compassion, patience, counseling and tools for accountability. This place is a lifeline for those who have and have not other options or resources. Walk in and ask for help. It's that easy. First step.

I have worked with this organization and have several contacts enroll and receive services here. They are one of the best around if you are struggling with alcohol or substance use disorder. Very compassionate and genuinely want to help those that are wanting and needing to make positive changes in their lives. BECKY PELLEHAM IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST. MAKE SURE YOU ASK TO MEET HER WHEN YOU ARE ON SITE. SHE IS EXTREMELY RESOURCEFUL, AND IF SHE SEES THAT YOU ARE TAKING YOUR RECOVERY SERIOUS AND TRYING TO BETTER YOUR LIFE THEN THE SKYS THE LIMIT AS FAR AS WHAT SHE CAN DO FOR YOU. I wouldn't mislead or try to benefit from someone seeking recovery as so many people and places do. This is the best place around especially if you dont have private health insurance.

The staff here is awesome! We had several different staff members help us during our visit, I wish I could shout them all out. Everyone was very kind, very informative, and of course there’s a longer wait to be seen — it’s the ER — but they were transparent about wait times and got us in and out quicker than we imagined.
