Atchison Valley Hope saved my life. I had tried living a life in recovery before, but it never worked out for me. When I hit a point to no return I reached out for help to Valley Hope in Atchison. From the moment I walked through the door, I was welcomed with such warm, loving compassion. The feeling of comfort and safety put me at ease and I knew from the very start something was going to be different. The staff is amazing. From the director all the way to the kitchen staff. I have never been treated with more love and respect in my life. I spent nearly 2 whole months as a patient and the tools I learned at Valley Hope with my willingness of participation, helped mold me to the human being I am today. That place is magical. It wasn't easy, but with the patience of my counselor, my Chaplin, my case manager, and all of the staff, I have been living the life of my dreams. Clean and sober. I m struggling to understand why this facility would get anything less than 5 stars. Valley Hope has truly changed my life. I called on a Wednesday morning and was in a bed by Friday. This is more than a facility or institution. It s a home full of love and care. The staff are much more than staff even down to the cooks. They truly do care. They go above and beyond to listen, recognize and love. I HIGHLY recommend V.H. To anyone who s truly wanting to live a life of sobriety. The structure, dynamics, medical care, post care recommendations and even down to the food is amazing. If I could give more stars, I would. Thank you so much Valley Hope for changing my life around. I ll never forget what y all have done for me.

Jojo Deck, the alumni coordinator is THE AMAZING. she is fun and vibrant. she has real world experience through addiction and can relate to us. I absolutely love her alumni group and attend if whenever I can.

Current Inpatient resident who would like to say I came with much trepidation and anxiety. All of which I was able to shed easily on account of the staff and friendly fellow residents. Not in any small part because of Kerry (think I spelled that right) in detox, because she is @$$@ ing hilarious, and made me feel a lot better. I mean, guys, it s rehab.. ;) But this is a very good rehab. Admins listen.EDIT: It took guys.. It really took this time. I shed the $&!t colored goggles. And the world is vivid.. bright.. and while i honestly believed I'd be dead by now... In reality I'm happier than I think I ever have been. I couldn't see it back then.

I was a patient at Arista in Paola, and if it was not for Rachel I would have left immediately. By far she was the best help out of anyone and she needs to be recognized. She supported me from day 1. Thank you Rachel!

This place saved my life with the power of JESUS

I home planned to the Healing House directly from prison. I have never felt a sense of family or community that the Healing House afforded me. They truly mean it when they say "Welcome Home". I can not thank Bobbi Jo and all the staff there enough. I love you all!

Healing House has been a place of safety for me, has shown me that I am accepted as I am, and has provided the time and resources for me to grow into my full potential. I have grown spiritually during my time here and have learned how to be a part of a service-oriented community. I have obtained employment, training, and new certifications. I have learned the joy in having clean and sober fun.

Changed my life for the better have 45 clean and it all started there

I just graduated from inpatient alcohol treatment at this facility on May 15th 2024. The staff is absolutely phenomenal! Everybody from maintenance up to the director is in active recovery or has been effected by addiction. It's an awesome environment. I currently have 70 days of sobriety and owe all of it to mirrors. There is a reason they are called the dream team, but I may change the staffs name to the miracle team. I'm currently in out patient and it's amazing over there too. The food was great also. Please, if you are looking for help, the Topeka facility is the bees knees. They saved my life.

While I would truly love to focus on the strengths of the select few staff members here that carry themselves in a professional and ethical manner, it would be disingenuous to you, the prospective client, to leave out the unfortunate reality that it is overwhelmingly the clients that are left to run 80-90% of the responsibilities of operating their own treatment program here. A holistic, dynamic recovery from substance abuse demands the rigorous participation of the individual for whom the program is designed to help recover. Unfortunately at Mirror Shawnee, this concept appears to have been skewed in such a way where the individual client is now responsible for the nutritional, sanitary and other fundamental needs of their peers, while the majority of the program "leaders" visibly struggle to affect their influence in a meaningful way. The moment one enters the circus event that is Mirror Shawnee, as a client, a concerned family member, or as a new or long time staff member- there air is thick with confusion and distress and the mutual distrust and competition among all parties involved is palpable at every turn.I'm leaving a 5 star review in the hope that they will this posted perhaps a little longer than if I gave an honest rating (1 star). Mirror deletes the tsunami of negative reviews that are posted on here. Just look at number of reviews (7) and then see that there is only one 5 star review that's actually visible. Prior to the most recent purge of these reviews, there was atleast ten 1 star reviews and they have swept them all under the rug.If you have insurance and/or you're not court ordered into treatment, do yourself and your family a favor and go to Valley Hope or literally any other treatment facility. This place is the last stop on the treatment circuit before incarceration.To the staff- I just ask that maybe, just maybe you read this, and all of the other reviews and try to look at these statements not as attacks on your character by some drug addled delinquents; but as opportunities for real growth that can be earned as a community, and eventually shared amongst the broader community that we all call home.Until then, I'll keep checking back and keep leaving more encouraging reviews! I have so much more I could say and I know how fond you all are of thoughtfully receiving feedback and criticism and using it constructively!Much love

I m starting my third week as a client attending group therapy and counseling. So far I ve seen employees greet me by name recognizing my mannerisms, and increasing efforts to aide my recovery. There are a couple that stand out as exceptional. All of them are happy to help people as a part of their job. Yes, if you are struggling with addiction, I recommend this sliding scale facility. They will make it their way to help you. I strongly suggest you commit to it.
