About The Right Step

Right Step Rehab Hill County is an addiction treatment center located in Wimberley, Texas. This facility has plenty to offer for men and women who are seeking recovery from drug and alcohol addictions. They will take care of you at every step of your recovery journey, even starting with the initial detox phase.

With their medically assisted detox, they can use medications such as buprenorphine and naltrexone to help lessen the intensity of those uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms and cravings. It’s the best way to recover if you believe that your addiction might cause some symptoms or if you’ve tried and failed to detox on your own in the past.

They are also a dual diagnosis center. This means they don’t only treat addiction but they also treat co-occurring mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), bipolar disorder and other conditions that may get in the way of recovery.

I was impressed with their levels of care which include residential treatment, outpatient care, and virtual intensive outpatient care. This gives you a lot of variety to recover at your own pace.

Their general outpatient program usually requires around 10 hours of weekly therapy and you’ll go three days each week. Their partial hospitalization program is more intensive and meets five days a week. They offer morning and evening sessions so you can find one that works with your schedule. They also have gender-specific programs for men and women to ensure that your specific needs are the focal point of the treatment.

They use cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy here which have shown great results to many in the past. On top of this, they offer individual therapy, group therapy and family therapy.

What I liked the most was that they offer alternative, holistic forms of therapy like music therapy, adventure therapy, art and recreational therapy. You can also receive lifelong recovery support and relapse prevention through their aftercare program.

I had a right knee replacement about 6 months ago. I worked with Dr Jon Roth at TPTS and he was amazing to work with. Jon was like my personal coach and truly helped get my new knee in shape. He worked me hard but also was there to encourage me and Jon and the staff treated me like family. I always looked forward to my physical therapy sessions as Jon and his team made the experience enjoyable and my knee improved greatly over the weeks that I had physical therapy. They all are true professionals. Thank you!

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Their intensive outpatient programs provide structure and support that help you create a sober routine, make changes in your thoughts and behaviors, and establish a support network—critical components of long-term recovery. Outpatient treatment for drugs and alcohol is ideal if you are already on your recovery journey and ready to return to work, school or other responsibilities and need help with this transition.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Everyone who completes treatment at The Right Step alcohol and drug rehab center is eligible for a two-year aftercare program. Led by licensed clinicians, our weekly aftercare groups provide support, counseling, and access to addiction recovery resources and referrals. In addition to having the support and guidance of addiction professionals, you’ll stay connected to others who are active in their recovery and share similar struggles and successes. A network of like-minded peers is a key component of long-term recovery.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Being gay in a straight culture is a part of life you’re used to dealing with, but it shouldn’t be something you have to work around in addiction treatment. Many of us have been there ourselves and we understand your struggles. The Right Step alcohol and drug rehab center offers specialized programming tailored to the needs of gay and lesbian clients. Our LGBTQI program will help you address underlying issues and old wounds that fuel addiction while developing resiliency for long-term recovery.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

I have a history of disc herniations in my lower back, so this is not my first rodeo when it comes to physical therapy. I cannot recommend Texas Physical Therapy Specialists enough. All of their staff are incredibly welcoming and manage to easily quell any anxiety one might have about walking into an unfamiliar office. Everything feels like you're supposed to be there, and that you're in good hands. To put it more succinctly: there is no doubt that this is a place of healing from the moment you walk in. Dr. Logan Wyatt created a treatment plan for me that has allowed for a remarkably fast recovery, helping me accomplish in weeks what I thought would take months. Dr. Wyatt is as personable as she is knowledgeable and has an intuitive ability to read her patients and keep tabs on us, (even when I think she isn't watching and try to cheat through a stretch or exercise 😅). If you're in the same spot I was not long ago and just trying to find a good doctor somewhere on a list of names and offices, you can't go wrong by coming here and working with her. I can't thank Dr. Wyatt and the rest of the folks at Texas PT specialists enough. Thank you for helping me get back to being able to pick up my dogs and enjoy a pain free life again!
