While during transitions things are usually always rocky and a bit unsettled as can be expected, Ive seen the positive greatly outweigh any of the negitive in the almost 3 yrs. I have been a patient. If you follow the rules and the handbook given on your first day, there are normally no problems. Occasionally things do happen as with any buss. Or situation. If you really want the help, it is there. The entire staff from councilors to nursing to admin. Truely cares about people, and it shows. Today, I wittnessed a medical emergency happen in the waiting room. Staff went above and beyond in handling it. Most Especially the nurse in charge Ms. Carol. She showed total class and professionalism in how she handled the situation as well as showed her personal side and that she really cares about her patients. She really deserves an extra day off paid or somthing of the nature as she earned it and then some this morning. She made sure everything was handled by protocal and also stayed right beside the lady reassuing her she was there, had 9q1 on the way, and that she would be ok. As scary as the situation was, Ms. Carol remained capm and focused the entire time. Being it was a half an hour before closing on a Sat. With a packed waiting room, I am quite sure she had to also stay late. Its easy to complain about things we dont like. What I wittnessed today with staff really touched my heart and I fealt the need to share some POSITIVE about an expierence at BHG.

it's a mostly good place. not all the staff are my favorite, but that's going to happen anywhere. the new director was handed a pile of mess and is trying to make the best of it while making things better at the same time, and she's doing the best she can with what she was given from what I can tell. most of these patients just don't have.... patience. I've seen them corner staff members and scream at them for being held outside while a patient is having a medical emergency in the lobby. they only care about themselves, and there are no employees or security on drugs or smoking pot outside. I'm hopeful they can get to a place where they can have a really good crew that stays for a long time and works cohesively together. I'm glad this clinic is here for those of us that need it. the only staff member I truly have an issue with is a counselor (?) Sarah. I'm not sure what her problem is but she looks at us and treats us like we're just a bunch of junkies and nothing more. she is rude to clinic patients, she's not understanding to any situation, she lies to patients just so she doesn't have to do something, or even try, and the worst one: she also breaks HIPAA - her office is right off the lobby & if you're standing there, you can hear both sides of her entire Zoom call therapy appointments because she keeps her door wide open during these calls. I heard everything one young woman said in her appointment, very personal things. she should be ashamed of herself. the behavior I have seen from her is honestly unacceptable, and I don't believe this is the job for her. if you think addicts are beneath you, you shouldn't be working here Sarah.

I would highly recommend this facility to anyone who is struggling with addiction. For the first time in my life I have found a place with a staff that not only cares deeply for their patients, but also do not make their patients feel judged. They really do seem to care beyond any other facility I have been to, and I have been to several. I still have a long way to go, but just knowing that they see their patients as human beings who are in a lot of pain emotionally and mentally, and not just “junkies” , is what gives me the strength and courage to keep trying. The staff is absolutely amazing. I will forever be grateful for this , facility, the staff, and the doctors associated with this treatment program.

This program at this facility helped me work my own recovery. I had good and okay counselors the one I'm moving facilities from I will miss greatly. She advocated for my constant part in the program I followed their program and in turn I have been rewarded with freedom from my active addiction. Even if I need to be in this program longer than other people think, I'll always be grateful to this place and the professionals that showed up every single day so I didn't have to be a street addict anymore with no way of accomplishing mental health and sucess. Thank you, I hope the next pinnacle in my journey sets a gold star like all of you!

To whom it may concern my name is Sylvia Benson and Mrs.Elrida Carriglitto has been counseling me for a little over two years now I believe. She has really been a great influence on me she has given me tools and information I can use for the rest of my life. Since working with her I have learned how to have self control meaning I’ve learned how to process my thoughts, think before I speak I’ve finally learned how to stop and take a breath or take a moment to count down and think before I react which is something I’ve been working on my whole life and with her coaching me along the way I have finally mastered the task. I would like to take this opportunity to say thanks Mrs.Carriglitto you helped me not give up a minute before the miracle your work is not in vain people like me truly need people like you keep sharing your excellence so we all can be winners.

BRC has changed not just my sons life but my families life. My son was there one year. But the help does not stop when they leave. They helped my entire family. They worked with us to give us a plan for when he returned up. A plan that works. They gave my son not only the help he needed in a group setting but so much one on one help. They made him feel special. They helped us find after care. BRC made sure that he stayed caught up on school. My son has now been home one year. I never imagined that life could be this enjoyable. My child had the best therapist, the best teachers, the best dorm staff. They work as a team to help you and your child. They make sure you are connected with your child and what they are doing.. I could write for hours on how much they have helped our family and specifically my son. Mrs Tawanda and Mr Jacob are still my most favorite people but I can only say positive about everyone.

I have to start reviewing the therapist Ryan, who was an absolute MIRACLE WORKER for my son! Ryan works one on one with each kid and promotes a teamwork environment for family therapy. No parent is perfect, and Ryan gave us tools as parents and as individuals for how we can promote better relationships with ourselves and each other. I have taken my kids to different therapists and never got the tools needed like Ryan was able to provide in therapy. My son also had great relationships with Mr. Greg and Ms. Tawanda. I remember meeting Mr. Greg, and he was awesome. My son thinks Mr. Greg and Tawanda definitely care for the kids and treat the kids like family, very generous and helpful for whatever the kids need. My son also wants to let everyone know the food was good, and he appreciates the kitchen staff. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO WORKS HERE!

I’m a military spouse and a mother and full time employee so you can only imagine how busy my life is. I have been so proud of my kids and only want to love them and raise them to be the best they can be as an adult. My son whom is now 14 at the age of 13 was getting involved in not so good things. Vaping, failing his classes, fighting, disrespectful. It caused a lot of stress and turmoil in the house. The cycle of negative events and parental fails. I finally gave up and started researching avenues of help for my son. His therapist recommended BRC. I was scared as a mom I thought how can I abandon my son here, he is going to hate me (which he did for a bit), it was a roller coaster of emotions. I lost weight I became depressed with the idea but things kept getting worst between he and I. I raised the white flag and entered the BRC program. He was registered and we were on a journey of recovery. The therapist and doctors there are not just there for pay check they really care. We dived into topics about respect, self worth, love, accountability. I even got closer to God in a different spiritual way. My guy went from the angry failure to straight A and Bs. He plays soccer and is thinking of different colleges. He wants to study criminal justice at FAU and has a plan. It’s all thanks to the rigorous family therapy, the family plan we built together. The boundaries that were established in our relationship. The therapist there are so raw and so real you start to think to yourself dang I was doing this wrong and that. Simply by listening and applying the homework helps so much. Our life is so much better. My son is back home after 5.5 months and we are so happy. He actually misses the circle group sessions and the family sessions. But we communicate so well. And we respect each other as family should. I recommend this to any family having a tough time with their kids. It’s the best thing I did in all my life.

While nobody wakes up wanting to go to a mental health hospital, specially on a TDO (temporary detention order), I must say The Pavilion turned out to be a God sent for my son! My son had 2 TDOs in Florida and after 3 days would check himself out. Thankfully, this last time it happened in Virginia and the system was different. In other words, he wasn't going to get released just because he wanted to. On the contrary, he was kept in the hospital until he got well. After 18 days, I finally had a conversation with my son and heard him as the son I knew and know he is in my heart. He had not been like this in 4 years. It would not have happened without the support of the staff in the Pavilion- the Case Workers: Tonya and Kamryn and the nurses in unit 400. Tonya and Kamryn were my lifeline to him being released successfully and at the right time, making sure I communicated with them to let them know what my son was like when he was healthy- this was crucial! These ladies love what they do and it shows. It is not easy to reach them, but have them on speed dial, because eventually you'll reach them. NOTE: The process overall can be VERY frustrating, especially because my son didn't sign the ROI (release of information) right away and nobody would tell me anything, and although that was VERY difficult to understand, especially because I was so far away, I continued to insist and call multiple times a day. At the end of the day, I was fighting for my son and his rights to get healthy. I personally traveled to the Pavilion from South Florida and confirmed it was a beautiful place, well kept with kind staff. It is not perfect and I'm sure they have a lot to work on, but the result? A son who went back to his baseline, who is in touch with his true self and a family that is more than grateful to finally have a chance to support him and love him back to the best version of himself. If your family member is here, my advice is this: 1) Be ready to call as many times as needed, to as many extensions as needed until someone hears you (they are busy doing the work and are not always available). You will be frustrated at times, but breath and keep going. Try to email as well. 2) Insist on requesting your family member signs the ROI- things got MUCH easier after that. 3) Visit your family member (ask for visiting hours and days)- I feel like when there is a familiar face, the staff begins to know who you are and they communicate more with you. 4) When you speak to your family member, tell him/her to cooperate and give them the names of the Case Worker so they can know who to turn to for help. Lastly, whoever you are and wherever you are, I pray God will give you and your family member a breakthrough. Don't lose hope and don't lose faith.

Thank you for everything. Despite the negative reviews, I can confidently say that the care provided at the Pavilion is deeply rooted in the patients’ well-being. Every action, even when difficult, was done with the intention of helping us stabilize and heal. The psych techs did the best they could with the resources available to them, and it showed. The night shift in particular was especially compassionate and grounded. The nurses were incredible, offering both medical support and emotional presence. The psychiatrists and doctors were thorough, respectful, and intentional in their care. And the social workers were kind and supportive throughout the process. My only recommendation would be for the social work department to offer more personalized accommodations for patients in unique situations. For example, I was in a long-distance relationship and wasn’t able to make a call to my partner despite advocating for it, which affected my emotional regulation. I also had college finals and final projects to complete during my stay, and unfortunately no efforts were made to help me navigate that. I understand they’re limited in scope, but a little extra advocacy in those areas would’ve made a big difference. Still, I am overwhelmingly grateful. My time at the Pavilion changed my life. And hopefully one day, I’ll walk back through those doors—not as an inpatient, but as a psychiatrist. Thank you for being part of my healing. — Erick Ayala Contreras

I went to get help and they end up TDOing me because I guess they realized my problems were a lot more serious than even I realized. One of the head nurse practitioners I believe is named Alison and she’s very smart lady concerned with actually helping people. The place just seems understaffed at times which doesn’t allow for everyone’s needs to be met. I remember one time specifically a man was exposing himself multiple times and there were no security guards so the female nurses had to take care of it. There’s also little issues like not enough towels or clothes so maybe bring your own if you can. Waiting for meds can be quite long too. Overall an alright place but there’s better like Virginia Beach Psychiatric Hospital in my opinion. Groups can be sort of discombobulated at The Pavilion as well. A lot of the nurses are great though like Aaliyah and Linda. The social workers do a great job as well I wish their job wasn’t so stressful for them.

I am 50 years old. I used to be in this group home back in my teens. I stayed here from 15 to 18. I promise you back then life was different and if it wasn't for the staff there I wouldn't be here now. When I was there we had Ms. Kilgore, Ms. Mitchell and Ms. Westbrook was in Tucker cottage where I was. Rogers, Marshall and Darden cottages were there then. I still use "easily mislead" or "my inconsideration to others and self" I always have to remind myself of my "easily angered" I use these words today. There is a flowerbed at the very edge of the main house yard. I started that flowerbed. If the flowerbed is still there I can honestly say that was my flowerbed. Mr. Kocab and Mr. Tate let me do the flowerbed to keep my mind from wandering and getting myself in more trouble. I am not sure what life is like there nowadays but when I was there it was okay. Nobody wants to be away from their families and it is hard to be there when you look at it that way. Yes, I still got in trouble when I got home for a bit. But I was able to understand what was getting me in those situations. I just wanted to share my story about Jackson-Field Group Home. And a lot of us that were together are still friends to this day. It was a helpful back then.

I'm quite the brand new patient with this office and while I can't give a lengthy history on the incredible staff--I can give what I've experienced in just 2½ short months. For starters, Morgan Scott--one of the most receptive medical professionals I've ever worked with. I'm 35 and have been in and out of psychotherapy offices since I was 14. Between insurance changes, offices closing, etc, I've seen and endured(yes, endured)some horrific treatment from past places. I reached a personal breaking point recently and while I am still on the wait list for therapy, I still reached out to the office in hopes there was something, anything to be done in hopes of help in a crisis that didn't require hospitalization. Not only did she reach out to me on her day off, she found me additional help and did what she could to listen and hear me out. I left the VM and within the hour I was on the phone with her being heard, ”seen", and given options and chances to get additional help. An emergency therapist that wasn't with their office was provided to me as well. In a nutshell, I've never felt the rallying of an entire office in the just this short of time as a patient. And I saw the same therapist from 14-20. This office CARES. The staff are knowledgeable, helpful and pool their resources when they have a patient in need. I have NEVER, in the 20 years of my life of psychotherapy felt more seen and cared about by an entire office the way I did yesterday. I felt like more than a copay and another zero added to that long line on their paycheck. I felt like a REAL PERSON, who's existence and feelings mattered and were of importance. I truly hope and plan to be a patient here for as long as these amazing humans are in business. The core of these individuals is nothing short of angelic in how they handle matters of crisis or even your every day appointments. And as one knows while in this world of psychotherapy, your support system and help from medical professionals is just as important as the support system outside of the office walls. Thank you all for the incredible rallying and assistance I was given, the grace, and most importantly the support. I am in awe of this entire office and how they treat patients. Even brand new baby ones like me. Thank you again to everyone who was part of it and for showing up to work everyday to truly help those like myself that face these immense struggles. Having a team like y'all in my corner gives me a sense of trust that I will continue to be given the best care they can provide me and others as a patient. 1000000/10 stars. Highly HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I would give them more of a 4.5... they have really been great to me... I think most of these reviews are from mentally ill people that aren't getting the help they need... A few years ago... That would've been me... At first before they changed names and they were also pact... It was incredibly toxic... But I have grown fond of them tbh... They aren't the best... But they are pretty good at what they do..

I have recently begun recieving care here and they have pleasantly surprised me in every way. Intake is rough and slightly unsympathetic but once I connected with my therapist, I knew I had found real help. They are not afraid to talk about hard topics, and are committed to helping you find the help you need.

I've been going here for 6months and before that I was at the VA. There's a few differences between them both but most of all I can tell the Care. I have had 2 Counselors which is understandable considering the work load they have. Since the begining I have been happy and impressed how easy they made my transferring. I started just where I left off at the VA.The only thing I don't agree with or understand is when getting an increase u have to pick up for 3days before getting ur tak homes. I can understand this policy when u a starting out. But it doesn't make much sense after that. I can also say when there was a problem with my pick up (ther Mistake) my councler fixed and had all my bottles in 30mins. All I can say is If u work the program it works. Thank you

This is the only MAT program clinicnive ever been to but they have been amazing. If you are serious about your recovery they most definitely are going to help you. I've had a couple friends go to other clinics and from what was said FCCR is more strict and that's so important. Especially if you are serious about your recovery and do really want to better yourself and your life. The office staff is amazing there. The nurses are wonderful. I've had 3 different counselors due to 2 of them moving on to better their lives, but every counselor I have had has been wonderful. Very helpful. Easy to talk to. Thank you FCCR for being there and helping me better myself and my life. "It works if you work it"

I’ve been going here for 6 now. When BHG took over the old clinic, River City, there were growing pains as any company has going through a takeover. Then the pandemic happens during the takeover. Staff was leaving left & right because patients blamed them for literally EVERTHING. The patients refused to see the bigger picture and wanted to blame staff for following the pandemic rules. BHG was the only clinic in RVA excepting new patients during the pandemic because they genuinely want to SAVE LIVES! Somehow so many patients complained about so many new patients holding up lines. Anyway, with all of that being said, I’ve seen staff come & go BUT THE STAFF THEY HAVE NOW IS SO CARING & want nothing but THE best for us!!! Dr. Swainey is so down to earth once you see how much he relates to us, you’ll have so much respect for his compassion to help us that are stuck in this awful cycle. I could write a book on how much I’ve grown to adore the staff & they ALL deserve the absolute best in life. Every single one of them have played a part in my new outlook of life and I owe that to them. <3

i’ve been going to this clinic for over a year and i have truly enjoyed making the relationships that i have with everyone who works there. they actually care about your well-being, you’re never just a number. i feel like the kind souls who work here really do put their all into everyone who steps foot in their door. my counselor, lindsey, is amazing and has helped me so much. i have never once felt judgement or disdain from her or anybody else there. i feel confident when i tell people about BHG because i know that they extend a warm welcome to everybody, regardless of the circumstances. thank you for making recovery possible. ❤️

Anyone who has been in treatment, such as myself, knows that some days are better than others. It's just the reality of the situation, but I have never found more genuine care and support than I do at this place. They're going to help pick you back up and get you back on track. Ms. Jane Ann and some of the other staff there are like family to me and I wouldn't be here without them .
