i have seen and been to so many facilities but this by far is the worst one yet . my mom had ama me out of there because of incident while i was in the shower i had came out the shower and the kids were looking threw the hole in the bathroom door and when i had opened the door because somebody had knocked 4+ kids came in and pushed me to the ground while i was in my underwear while trying to take off my underwear then they had left . overall this was the worse experience ever and i dont recommend any parent sending there child here . its literally hell .

i was admitted here in june, 2021. i can not describe the extent of how horrendous this place is. i’m now 18 and felt like i needed to say something. i was here for less than a week before my mom pulled me out. i had just came out as trans (mtf) and was immediately met with the most crude and disgusting comments. not only from other residents but most of the staff as well. the staff here see their job as entertainment, they watch kids beat the living hell out of each other and sit back doing nothing like it’s normal. the showers had no curtains, bathrooms had no doors, there were holes in almost every wall in every room, dead bugs everywhere, mold, etc. a few days into my stay i was moved to a separate private room that locked from the outside as per my moms request. the staff have to check the rooms every once in awhile and one of them left the door wide open while i was sleeping. to put a long story short i woke up with another resident on top of me. two hours later another resident and i got into a physical altercation that lasted for at least 5 minutes before ANYONE stepped in to help me. there was a whole investigation and nothing was ever done. no one charged. no one held accountable. and i have to live with this for the rest of my life. i have never had such a strong hatred towards something like i do this place. i walked in with the urge to get better and find the treatment i needed, and left with a rape case and severe ptsd. please for the love of whatever you believe in, do not send your children here.

I am 50 years old. I used to be in this group home back in my teens. I stayed here from 15 to 18. I promise you back then life was different and if it wasn't for the staff there I wouldn't be here now. When I was there we had Ms. Kilgore, Ms. Mitchell and Ms. Westbrook was in Tucker cottage where I was. Rogers, Marshall and Darden cottages were there then. I still use "easily mislead" or "my inconsideration to others and self" I always have to remind myself of my "easily angered" I use these words today.
There is a flowerbed at the very edge of the main house yard. I started that flowerbed. If the flowerbed is still there I can honestly say that was my flowerbed. Mr. Kocab and Mr. Tate let me do the flowerbed to keep my mind from wandering and getting myself in more trouble. I am not sure what life is like there nowadays but when I was there it was okay. Nobody wants to be away from their families and it is hard to be there when you look at it that way. Yes, I still got in trouble when I got home for a bit. But I was able to understand what was getting me in those situations. I just wanted to share my story about Jackson-Field Group Home.
And a lot of us that were together are still friends to this day. It was a helpful back then.

I used to come here about 15 years ago and when I learned I had to start coming back I was not happy because Daymark was just terrible in every way, shape, and form. But you know what.... I am so happy with how my visit went! Crystal and Erin made my week! Not only were they professional but they handled me with love and care. I've been going here for 6months and before that I was at the VA. There's a few differences between them both but most of all I can tell the Care. I have had 2 Counselors which is understandable considering the work load they have. Since the begining I have been happy and impressed how easy they made my transferring. I started just where I left off at the VA.The only thing I don't agree with or understand is when getting an increase u have to pick up for 3days before getting ur tak homes. I can understand this policy when u a starting out. But it doesn't make much sense after that. I can also say when there was a problem with my pick up (ther Mistake) my councler fixed and had all my bottles in 30mins. All I can say is If u work the program it works. Thank you

I love my counselor here at Pinnacle treatment center FCCR Radford. I feely counselor Lauren is amazing she's does everything she can possibly do for. Shes supplies me with wonderful advice, wonderful resources and everything else a counselor should do. My panic attacks got to such a bad point that she gave me her cell phone number in case I need to message or call when I need her. FCCR RADFORD SAVED MY LIFE!!!

This is the only MAT program clinicnive ever been to but they have been amazing. If you are serious about your recovery they most definitely are going to help you. I've had a couple friends go to other clinics and from what was said FCCR is more strict and that's so important. Especially if you are serious about your recovery and do really want to better yourself and your life. The office staff is amazing there. The nurses are wonderful. I've had 3 different counselors due to 2 of them moving on to better their lives, but every counselor I have had has been wonderful. Very helpful. Easy to talk to. Thank you FCCR for being there and helping me better myself and my life. "It works if you work it"

I’ve been going here for 6 now. When BHG took over the old clinic, River City, there were growing pains as any company has going through a takeover. Then the pandemic happens during the takeover. Staff was leaving left & right because patients blamed them for literally EVERTHING. The patients refused to see the bigger picture and wanted to blame staff for following the pandemic rules. BHG was the only clinic in RVA excepting new patients during the pandemic because they genuinely want to SAVE LIVES! Somehow so many patients complained about so many new patients holding up lines. Anyway, with all of that being said, I’ve seen staff come & go BUT THE STAFF THEY HAVE NOW IS SO CARING & want nothing but THE best for us!!! Dr. Swainey is so down to earth once you see how much he relates to us, you’ll have so much respect for his compassion to help us that are stuck in this awful cycle. I could write a book on how much I’ve grown to adore the staff & they ALL deserve the absolute best in life. Every single one of them have played a part in my new outlook of life and I owe that to them. <3

I’ve been here twice and both times I’ve been welcomed with an open mind and enthusiasm to help keep my sobriety journey pushing. From Sheba the BAH to her counter part Ms. Paula starting our mornings off with laughter and enthusiasm to encourage us to keep going and keep pushing. To Ms. D and Ms. Ebony on second shift to help center and reflect on ourselves. When you have an enthusiastic discharge coordinator like Keisha who encourages you each day to push past my mental barriers. To therapists like Jessica and Mrs. White who help break things down there’s no room for failures. I am my biggest critic. So I just needed some sustenance from the cooks to keep me going and that’s the best part. They worked day in and day out to keep us all fed. All in all it was a great time, I couldn’t have asked for a greater support system from Jay who would always pause and take the time to talk and listen to any of our grievances to the nurses like charnel and heather who are always down to give advice and support. It was just a very supportive and helpful supportive environment. I can’t reiterate it enough and I recommend this to anyone looking for a recovery program for substance abuse. It’s been a life saver for me

The only reason and I mean the only reason I am giving this five stars is because of my counselor Miss Ell when I I'm telling you this woman has helped me so tremendously she saved my life and my family she helped me stay clean when the actual clinic was not doing what they were supposed to be doing for instance this woman found my papers that were sitting behind the reception desk under stack of paper for almost a week a little back side story I had surgery August 25th when in August 26th and tested for a benzo well they took my take-homes away that I had just gotten so it took me all over a few days to get the hospital to fax over my paperwork well she had found it took it to the doctor the doctor said the medication wasn't on there that I was lying. Well missile took it right back to her and showed her it's right here so again she's the one and only reason I have my take homes she's been working on getting me my take homes once again while moving up in my take-homes and there's one doctor there that's never there so it's next to impossible to get take homes but she made it happen and is still trying to make it happen. All I want to say is you have amazing people that work there that keep getting ran away all the time by the employees there that are just there for a paycheck I'm just thankful that she got me on the path that I need to be on mentally and physically before anything happens to her honestly because from here on out I will continue to do good and I will always think of her

it's a mostly good place. not all the staff are my favorite, but that's going to happen anywhere. the new director was handed a pile of mess and is trying to make the best of it while making things better at the same time, and she's doing the best she can with what she was given from what I can tell. most of these patients just don't have.... patience. I've seen them corner staff members and scream at them for being held outside while a patient is having a medical emergency in the lobby. they only care about themselves, and there are no employees or security on drugs or smoking pot outside.
I'm hopeful they can get to a place where they can have a really good crew that stays for a long time and works cohesively together. I'm glad this clinic is here for those of us that need it.
the only staff member I truly have an issue with is a counselor (?) Sarah. I'm not sure what her problem is but she looks at us and treats us like we're just a bunch of junkies and nothing more. she is rude to clinic patients, she's not understanding to any situation, she lies to patients just so she doesn't have to do something, or even try, and the worst one: she also breaks HIPAA - her office is right off the lobby & if you're standing there, you can hear both sides of her entire Zoom call therapy appointments because she keeps her door wide open during these calls. I heard everything one young woman said in her appointment, very personal things. she should be ashamed of herself. the behavior I have seen from her is honestly unacceptable, and I don't believe this is the job for her. if you think addicts are beneath you, you shouldn't be working here Sarah.

I would highly recommend this facility to anyone who is struggling with addiction. For the first time in my life I have found a place with a staff that not only cares deeply for their patients, but also do not make their patients feel judged. They really do seem to care beyond any other facility I have been to, and I have been to several. I still have a long way to go, but just knowing that they see their patients as human beings who are in a lot of pain emotionally and mentally, and not just “junkies” , is what gives me the strength and courage to keep trying. The staff is absolutely amazing. I will forever be grateful for this , facility, the staff, and the doctors associated with this treatment program.

This program at this facility helped me work my own recovery. I had good and okay counselors the one I'm moving facilities from I will miss greatly. She advocated for my constant part in the program I followed their program and in turn I have been rewarded with freedom from my active addiction. Even if I need to be in this program longer than other people think, I'll always be grateful to this place and the professionals that showed up every single day so I didn't have to be a street addict anymore with no way of accomplishing mental health and sucess. Thank you, I hope the next pinnacle in my journey sets a gold star like all of you!

I personally had a great experience I’m 26 and I was really struggling with depression and I hit that point to where I was just done tired of life tired of not wanting to get up tired of faking it till I make it all the stuff you hear I went to work overnight at Lowe’s and then it all just hit me being in a big store locked in from 9 to six actually locked in the store and also having to deal with the greif of my fathers passin I broke down at work I went home grabbed my wife and went to the hospital I’m crying talking to my wife and I call my aunt to let her know I’m checking myself into the hospital for mental health I think the hospital was Bon something anyway my aunt said call chesterfield mental health so I did and they reassured me it’s not the end of the world even tho it felt like it and I had an appointment scheduled by the end of the call for the morning shouts out to Jeff my old therapist and Cathy if your reading this thank you for helping

This was my first and last DUI but I had a great experience working with Mr. Dockery and Ms.Coleman. They really helped me from the beginning to the end and was really supportive through my process. The staff there is bright and courteous. I felt comfortable and their resources and tools defiantly helped me understand more about addiction.

To Alamance Regional: Your facility left me with PTSD. I could have sued you for your treatment methods, had I known how illegal said methods were sooner. Your mistreatment of patients will be the end of your facility. To potential patients and patients' family: Do not leave your loved one here. I implore anyone who cares about the person that needs help, take them to the Greensboro location for cone health behavioral health hospital, or literally any other hospital. This location treats patients like either criminals or very small children (no matter cognitive function or actual age). They do not allow patients to contact family during the hours supposedly assigned for phone calls. This location is known for leaving patients with improper diagnoses, medications, and consequential PTSD. Go anywhere else. Avoid Alamance Regional Medical Center: Behavioral Health Services at all costs. Please.

I don't care what y'all say but does care just do what your supposed to do and if your late call ahead they have obligations they have to also hold y'all accountable. I was literally right at the clinic as they were locking the door and I sat on the phone for 6 minutes trying to make sure I can get dosed. They couldn't get a hold of them at first and they asked if I wanted them to keep trying. Instead of giving up I said yes... And they second time they got a hold of the director and she said they would still dose me... Thank you guys. I understand people have lives but thank you for considering mine today. I truly want to stay clean and this just saved me. Be responsible guys! They care but you have to do your part.

I was at the Barry Robinson Center for about six months. I arrived there in about December and left in June or July. Here’s a brief summary of how my experience looked like. First when you arrive, you have signatures to sign and paperwork to go over. You consent to stay at BRC for however long it takes for you and whoever you’re having altercations with, to be solved. Then, you go into your a nursing area and get your medications checked in. Right after, you’re off to your age-selected dorm to get your clothes and bedroom set. It’s about a 3-4 hour process, but you’ll get through it. Here’s more in depth experiences. At times, there may be things called codes. These are where kids in your dorm are throwing objects, arguing with dorm personnel, or just refusing to go anywhere. This could happen occasionally, or all the time. It could also last either 30 minutes, or up to an hour. Another situation that has happened is just pure arguing. For example, someone is watching a television show, a kid walks in wanting to change it, then they start arguing over it for no reason. This will most likely happen here, but the therapists will teach you ways on how to cope with it. My closing statements are that I want to thank the Barry Robinson Center Residential Coaches, Chefs, Nursing Staff, Therapists, my old therapist, Janitors, and whoever else I didn’t mention. I was there Dec 2024 through June 2025 (hi people in my dorm who also wrote reviews). Of course can be improvements, but what struck me was the willingness to learn how they can improve. I was part of a little experiment they did of adding some of the residents to the leadership meetings. While I was there, I had an AMAZING therapist (love you Mrs. Christina) who really pushed me and didn't fall for my bull crap. The dorm staff was...... something. I loved them, they were really fun. Ms. Tessa was always fun and firm, directing us to where we needed to be. Ms. Mo was strict and an absolute necessity to me personally. She was a staff I really trusted and pushed me to try hard and know that relapses aren't failure or doom. Ms. Courtney told me everyday to smile because I didn't smile very often at first and she thought I had a nice smile. So thank you. Ms. Jahna always let me a listening ear, which I needed quite a few times. Ms. Gill was a great advocate, also ready to listen to me. Mr. Cal fed my love for poetry and treated me like an equal, not some troubled kid. There's too many dorm staff to mention, i love them all. They treated us like humans, all of them. My teachers, Mr. Jeff, Mrs. Kristen, Ms. Stephanie, and Ms. Katie were all amazing! (Especially Ms. Katie who helped me with algebra) Ms(or should I say Mrs.) MacKenzie was a great RT, not taking crap from anyone. Mr. Cal boosted my confidence through basketball, even though he was boy dorm staff. Mr. Willie was an absolute joy to be around, trying to take me running and reminded me and everyone that we were enough. Lastly, thank you to the other residents I knew. Some of yall annoyed me to the point of wanting to scream and throw punches, but I learned not just to suck it up, but to communicate and get through it healthily. To those I befriended, you made BRC less lonely and so much more fun. To this day, I still quote some of the crazy things said. "What am I supposed to do, breastfeed him?"
I recommend BRC to anyone who needs help. You have to accept the help for it to be given to you. I know you got this, as I was there too. You're problems aren't going to go away completely, but you can watch over yourself and will take control of your life again. I was lost in self harm, and now, four months later, just passed a year since I got hospitalized before BRC, I can manage the few thoughts that come. I'm improving communication with my family. You got this!
