The facility and all of the people who get up and make this place available to people like myself. I came in...in a state of almost coming undone. I was starting to give up on myself. And I was in a situation that no one wants to be in while struggling with a substance abuse issue. Dr Nick stayed on my case. He was honest with me, while trying his hardest not to be over bearing. (I'm sure he wanted to knock me out and tie me to an inpatient bed and lock me away) But he simply told me the facts. By the Grace of God I got it together. I have never been more proud of myself. I know that you should not get kudos for doing what a person is supposed to do, but that shit was hard for me so I'm gonna pat myself on the back until I find something else to be proud of. Hazel at the front has always greeted me with a big smile and had always been super kind to me. My counselor Malik has also been super attentive and quick to do anything that I've requested that was recovery and new life related. And of coarse .. my honest Hero Dr. Nick...he has been the one to tell me exactly what I needed to hear. He won't take up too much of your time. I think he can read through the people who are serious and the ones just trying to avoid being sick with methadone...all while using drugs along with it. Regardless I am grateful for all of them. Let's not forget Dude Nurse Donnie and a few others that don't work there anymore. Straight up gratitude for them all. If your serious about getting your life together, this is a nice place to visit daily until they feel like they can trust you to get your take home doses. I've been to other clinics and tried other programs, and this one has been my favorite. I would recommend anyone who wants to free themselves from the life of being a slave to a substance. This place let me know that I was holding the keys to free these chains the whole time. They just showed me a way to use them. There are a few ways to obtain recovery. This was the way that worked for me. I pray someone reads this and tries. I have struggled off and on for almost 15 years, I wished I gave this place a try sooner. You can go everyday and still mess up, or you can put your foot in it with them and quit that stuff. It's up to you. They will be there regardless if you show up. But don't be surprised when they call you and ask you where you have been....because they are actually worried when they don't punch your number in that morning. Give it a try, they can't do all the work for you, but they can alleviate some of the pain that goes along with quitting and also provide you with some programs for food assistance...homelessness ..mental health...PTSD ....all the things that using does to a life. Again. Gratitude for Hazel, Malik, Nurse Donnie, and Dr Nick. Thank you for showing up everyday and putting on your war faces to help me fight this terrible enemy. And guess what. We are winning! Y'all got one out of the grips of this plague. It takes a special type of person to have empathy for people that constantly hurt themselves. Please continue fighting. I am proof that there is success in this science. With God's grace...modern medicine..and a MODERN thinking recovery team it can be done. I know the fight is not over, and I'm grateful that that door is open 6 days a week. I am daring any addict to please walk in and ask for some of the names I've mentioned at this facility....and if you are expecting I especially beg that you stop in this facility and ask for any of them. They will not judge you and you can save your unborn child so much suffering if you do. No one there will make you feel like a bad person. Take the way out. Get well....save some money...and give yourself a chance. There is a million ways to do it. But save yourself the agony and give this place a try. Kelly Born 6 months ago it's a mostly good place. not all the staff are my favorite, but that's going to happen anywhere. the new director was handed a pile of mess and is trying to make the best of it while making things better at the same time, and she's doing the best she can with what she was given from what I can tell. most of these patients just don't have.... patience. I've seen them corner staff members and scream at them for being held outside while a patient is having a medical emergency in the lobby. they only care about themselves, and there are no employees or security on drugs or smoking pot outside. I'm hopeful they can get to a place where they can have a really good crew that stays for a long time and works cohesively together. I'm glad this clinic is here for those of us that need it. the only staff member I truly have an issue with is a counselor (?) Sarah. I'm not sure what her problem is but she looks at us and treats us like we're just a bunch of junkies and nothing more. she is rude to clinic patients, she's not understanding to any situation, she lies to patients just so she doesn't have to do something, or even try, and the worst one: she also breaks HIPAA - her office is right off the lobby & if you're standing there, you can hear both sides of her entire Zoom call therapy appointments because she keeps her door wide open during these calls. I heard everything one young woman said in her appointment, very personal things. she should be ashamed of herself. the behavior I have seen from her is honestly unacceptable, and I don't believe this is the job for her. if you think addicts are beneath you, you shouldn't be working here Sarah. For the first time in my life I have found a place with a staff that not only cares deeply for their patients, but also do not make their patients feel judged. They really do seem to care beyond any other facility I have been to, and I have been to several. I still have a long way to go, but just knowing that they see their patients as human beings who are in a lot of pain emotionally and mentally, and not just “junkies” , is what gives me the strength and courage to keep trying. Well missile took it right back to her and showed her it's right here so again she's the one and only reason I have my take homes she's been working on getting me my take homes once again while moving up in my take-homes and there's one doctor there that's never there so it's next to impossible to get take homes but she made it happen and is still trying to make it happen. All I want to say is you have amazing people that work there that keep getting ran away all the time by the employees there that are just there for a paycheck I'm just thankful that she got me on the path that I need to be on mentally and physically before anything happens to her honestly because from here on out I will continue to do good and I will always think of her Nichole Flowers 8 months ago I m grateful for my counselor Ms. Michelle and the nurses are great. Just recently I had a mishap when I had surgery they ended up giving me a benzo in my IV and I didn't know so when I went to the clinic they got my take homes taken away well it was extremely hard to get my hospital papers to prove that it was put in my IV so I can get my take homes back they kept saying they didn't receive the paperwork at the clinic and it took at least almost 3 weeks a little over and one day Mrs EL happened to be working at the front desk and I wasn't even going to say anything but she asked me about it while she went over by the printer and started looking to see if she could find my paperwork well it was under stacks of paper so it was there the whole time so needless to say she got me my phone back as fast as she could and got me a month worth of take homes she went to bat for me and I am forever grateful. So again I came on here to post a review and I usually do not do that but she deserves the review and so much more Mrs EL if you're reading this thank you so much for being my angel sent from above thank you for reaching out to me and checking on me on a daily basis even though I only come in there once a month thank you for caring for me and showing that not only acting but you have shown me multiple times I hope you get so many blessings in your life cuz you deserve every one of them. Before you enter the program you are given in detail what you are signing up for. You are told from the beginning this is a Work Therapy program, and that you will have to attend Christian based spiritual classes and services. The resident managers have to deal with up to 100 something men so please don't listen to that one negative review about the program itself and about the program employees who's names should not be mentioned. Without God placing me here I would be on the street, dead in my addiction or worse. They do not force you to stay. The doors are meant to keep randoms out, not to keep someone unwilling to change their life, in. If you are struggling with addiction, or want to grow in your relationship with Christ, or even if you have no religion you are welcome here. My child now says that she doesn’t know where she would be if we didn’t find BRC and is excited to update the staff as time goes on, with how she’s excelling because of how much work they put into her wellbeing. I do believe that BRC is largely what the teens make of it, hence some of the reviews. I arrived there in about December and left in June or July. Here’s a brief summary of how my experience looked like. First when you arrive, you have signatures to sign and paperwork to go over. You consent to stay at BRC for however long it takes for you and whoever you’re having altercations with, to be solved. Then, you go into your a nursing area and get your medications checked in. Right after, you’re off to your age-selected dorm to get your clothes and bedroom set. It’s about a 3-4 hour process, but you’ll get through it. Here’s more in depth experiences. At times, there may be things called codes. These are where kids in your dorm are throwing objects, arguing with dorm personnel, or just refusing to go anywhere. This could happen occasionally, or all the time. It could also last either 30 minutes, or up to an hour. Another situation that has happened is just pure arguing. For example, someone is watching a television show, a kid walks in wanting to change it, then they start arguing over it for no reason. This will most likely happen here, but the therapists will teach you ways on how to cope with it. My closing statements are that I want to thank the Barry Robinson Center Residential Coaches, Chefs, Nursing Staff, Therapists, my old therapist, Janitors, and whoever else I didn’t mention. If I had a child that was going through a problem I couldn’t solve, I would send them here and get them proper help they need. This is something I knew before sending them to the Pavilion. We were still in the trial phase of finding the right medication. I knew that they weren't getting better so I sent them there. The Pavilion was able to end their 7 months of suffering in 3 weeks of staying there. They received a new medication tailored to her unique situation. The facility looks nice and staff are nice when you visit. I want to thank Nurse Ebony, Nurse Key, Social Worker Kenya, and Patient Advocate Maira. There are cons to every place. I feel like they need to hire a receptionist specifically for the nurses for when they are on the floor and can't respond. The social workers should call at least once out of the week versus loved ones sending an email first to contact. I feel like there should have been more communication without me having to call first. I would recommend this place. It is a temporary stay to get people stabilized this is not supposed to be a luxury vacation. Most people in this situation want to come home because this is a hard time for them and they want their life to go back to normal. She's gotten me on all of the right meds and I'm the most stable and regulated I've ever been. I owe so much to her and she's too humble to even realize it. I'm getting confidence in myself back and feeling more comfortable with who I am than ever before. I don't believe I would have gotten anywhere near as to where I am right now had she not come into my orbit. She's compassionate, caring, understanding, a great listener, an absolute sweetheart, and she has the most amazing heart. She's truly saving lives and making more of a difference in this world than than she realizes. The world needs more people like her, though there could never be another her. She is 1,000% in the profession she should be in and I would recommend her to anyone and everyone!! The ladies at the front window are also incredible. They know you by name the second they see you and are always so warm and friendly. I've never been to any medical office where everyone there just brings the highest levels of comfort. No one ever seems frustrated to be there or comes off like they'd rather be somewhere else. It's become a thing for me to bring them home baked treats at every visit and making food for people is one of my love languages. But just anyone doesn't get that from me... Morgan and the ladies up front deserve it though and I love being able to share that with them!!
