The food was good, the therapy helped, the groups were awesome and very interactive. The nurses are caring and the new director is extremely nice and always makes herself available for patients. Like most clinics the counselors come and go but there are several that have been there for awhile and are great. My counselor Ann is amazing! No the clinic is not perfect but they care and try. I am a teacher and actually suffered the stroke while in front of my students. It was one of the scariest moments of my life. Fortunately, the school nurse and AP drove me to BMC. After a stint in the ER, I was moved to the ICU. My nurse, Joe, gave me hope and stayed nearby for most of the night. He even stayed beyond his 12-hour shift to make sure the transition went smoothly and moved me within the ICU so I was close to the main desk. I was in the right place, at the right time, and will forever be thankful to Joe, Chloe, Tyler and the many others who got me through. I elected to have serious cervical surgery performed at Berkeley County Medical Center because area renowned neurosurgeon Dr. John Caruso is a neurosurgeon on staff. I'm totally satisfied with the surgeon, surgery, nurses, staff and everything else. Berkeley County Medical Center provided better care for me than any of the big city hospitals ever did. From the moment I arrived, everyone treated me with kindness, respect, and compassion. I had my own room and personal space, including a private shower area, which helped me feel comfortable and safe while focusing on healing. The staff consistently monitored and supported us, and I truly felt protected and cared for throughout my time there. They provided great meals, wonderful snacks, group orientation and activities, and even a TV for entertainment, which helped make the days feel more manageable. Every employee I interacted with was helpful in so many ways and always willing to listen and support us. One of the things I appreciated most was being able to connect with others and make friends along the way. It reminded me that none of us are fighting these battles alone. This place helped me during a difficult season with depression and anxiety, and I’m grateful for the care I received.
