I’ve been through recovery programs before, but my experience at BeBold was genuinely different. There were some people there who made a real impact on me, and there were others who… well, let’s just say they made the experience more interesting than it needed to be. First, Cassius deserves ALL the kudos. He is hands-down one of the best teachers I’ve ever had in a recovery program. He’s patient, understanding, and actually knows how to make you think instead of just sitting there listening to someone talk at you. He opened my eyes to things I honestly never would have considered before, and I’m genuinely grateful for that. Now let’s talk about my absolute favorite BHT, Reigna. That girl is a whole vibe. She was funny, cool, genuine, and knew how to make people feel comfortable. But beyond that, she was there for me when I really needed someone. One day I was struggling HARD and seriously wanted to use. Reigna shared her own story with me, and I truly believe that if she hadn’t done that, I might have made a very different decision that day. That girl may have literally saved me. I will never forget that. In a place where people are fighting some of the hardest battles of their lives, having someone like Reigna who can connect with you on a human level matters more than she probably realizes. And Krystal, the medical assistant, is beautiful, hilarious as hell, and somehow manages to make even the medical side of things feel a little less stressful. Now… we need to talk about Danesha, because unfortunately, she was the one person who could take an otherwise positive experience and completely suck the air out of the room. Her attitude toward me was consistently unpleasant. The dirty looks, the condescending tone, the unnecessary attitude—it all made me feel like I was being judged rather than supported. And in a recovery environment, that is the last thing somebody needs. What really got under my skin was the apparent double standard. I was told my clothes were “too revealing,” while other girls could walk around wearing what appeared to be essentially the same thing—short shorts, tube tops, etc.—and Danesha suddenly seemed to develop selective eyesight. If there is a dress code, enforce it consistently. If there are rules, they should apply to everyone—not just the people you personally decide to police. And honestly, Danesha’s biggest issue wasn’t even the dress-code situation. It was the way she made me feel. There is a huge difference between enforcing a rule professionally and making someone feel embarrassed, unwelcome, or like they’re a problem for simply existing in the space. A BHT working with people in recovery should understand that. I can handle someone having a bad day. I can handle somebody being strict. What I can’t respect is someone repeatedly treating people with an attitude while working in an environment where compassion, patience, and emotional support should be part of the job description. Reigna made me feel like I was worth fighting for. Danesha made me feel like I was an inconvenience. That contrast says everything. BeBold itself gets my recommendation because there are genuinely good people there who care, and those people made a real difference in my recovery. Cassius, Reigna, and Krystal are examples of the kind of staff who can make someone’s experience meaningful. I would absolutely go back to BeBold. I’d just strongly prefer to do it without Danesha. If management is reading this: please understand that people in recovery remember how you make them feel. The right staff can literally change the trajectory of someone’s life. Reigna did that for me. Staff members who make patients feel judged, singled out, or unwelcome can do the exact opposite. So yes—BeBold gets my recommendation. Cassius gets a standing ovation. Reigna gets a million stars. Krystal gets an honorable mention for being hilarious. And Danesha gets a very enthusiastic “please reconsider your career choice.”

DORM AND THERAPY Where to begin, first off I would like to say that my time at BRC was well needed and if I wouldn’t have gone I don’t think I would be half as better as I am now. I had the most AMAZING therapist who worked with me when I felt down, who never doubted my ability to put in the work and effort to get better, and over all brought me and my family back into a healthy relationship and gave us ways to communicate effectively! Miss Courtney (who previously worked in the dorms but later transitioned into a therapist) was an inspiration to me, she was the first worker that I met at BRC, she made my transition a lot smoother than I would’ve expected, she cared for me and supported me. The staff were a great help and that’s one thing I’m going to miss! Miss Kay is a great leader who helped me stand up for my self respectfully but assertively she was very kind and was always there to talk to me when I needed it. Miss Tessa who is the treatment coordinator for the girls dorm was Also a huge help in my treatment. She gave me many ways to think of a situation more positively, and taught me to keep a positive attitude instead of giving up. She was like a “dorm mom” to me and I appreciated that. The school system there is very effective. In about 3 months I had my falling grades that where my previous school turned in tho all passing A’s! There are also teacher assistants who can help with work if a teacher isn’t available, I had the pleasure of meeting a few, but one really stood out to me m.s Kayla was so cool, you could recognize her a mile away from all the keychains she had. She is so sweet and encouraging! MY EXPERIENCE AT BRC I will say when I first got there I expected more of a psych ward, that was not the case at all. The Barry Robeson center is laid out like a collage campus, this reassured me that I wasn’t going to have the experience I thought I would. I was at BRC for 5 1/2 months I arrived in December of 2025 and left in June 2026. My time went by slow but also fast. The days felt long but next thing you knew it was time for bed. I feel like the hardest part about my day/stay was if I ever got a bad phone call. Phone calls can only last 15 minutes but some staff may let a minute slip by if it’s a rough one. Whenever I had bad phone calls I know I would shut down, I know this isn’t the case for everyone. My advice for this is to process with staff (talk). PACKING now I know that there’s a packing list when you get accepted but some of it might be a little unclear You’re allowed to have make up once you reach a thing called phase one, it must be unopened and no Metal, you may have a plastic eyelash curler. You can have hot tools like hair dryer, curling iron, straightener, etc You can have tweezers and nail polish For clothes it can not be too tight and with shorts it must be fingertip length, no off the shoulder, and no low cut shirts. For shoes you can basically have all types, but one thing to be aware of is open toe shoes and crocs can not be worn in the gym. I’m sure there’s a lot I haven’t covered, so if there’s any questions I can answer about my experience I would be more than happy too! BRC is a great place to go too! And I hope everything goes smoothly!!

I’ve been a patient at Affinity Health Center in Norfolk, and I can’t say enough good things about the staff and the care I’ve received there. From the counselors to the nurses and administrative staff, everyone has treated me with kindness, respect, and genuine compassion. One thing that stands out is that they truly put patient care first. Recovery isn’t a one-size-fits-all process, and the staff understands that. They take the time to listen, work with patients individually, and help find solutions when life circumstances make things difficult. Rather than treating patients like a number, they treat them like people. I’ve also appreciated how accommodating and understanding they are. When you’ve demonstrated responsibility and commitment to your recovery, they recognize that and are willing to trust you. That level of respect and flexibility can make a huge difference for people trying to rebuild their lives. I was pregnant and they got Me in quickly, offered Me a mothers group that gave me free baby items while I was in fhe program, staff was nice ..just don't miss groups or they will immediately taper you every day and kick you out for atleast a month which led me back into addiction..thankfully I am sober now without needing maintenance so blessing in disguise..they helped wake me up..only give 4 stars cuz it could of went way worse..not everyone is so lucky as I was

I have received exceptional, one on one as well as group care through GHR for the past several years. Very clean establishment, therapist( Mrs.Catherine) is very kind, personable & make you feel comfortable, never judged. They provide med management as well so a “ one stop shop”, the nurse practitioner I’m familiar with is exceptional ( Michael)😉, very helpful, funny, & kind. NOW on the other hand front desk could “ take notes”😛, BUT have been a little better the past few months. I would & have referred many people to GHR, it’s so much more than just an Addiction & Recovery outlet, but mental health as well & what this state needs more of, more of people who actually care & wanna help, not just collect a paycheck.

I'm so happy I found inspiration health! I'm someone that gets very anxious going to any doctor's office. The moment I walked in the door, Tangie Smith and Dymend carter treated me so well. They made me feel very welcomed, made me laugh and are very professional and knowledgeable. The provider Timothy Winkler is amazing as well. He takes his time to hear what u have to say. He explains all important information in detail. We worked together to come up with the best treatment plan for me. I'm so happy I found Inspirational Health. I drive an hour and 10 minutes for my appointments and would drive further if I had to. Thank you for everything y'all do! Highly recommendable!

Miss Natasha is AMAZING. After seeing several different counselors that were not helping me I was paired with her and I’ve never looked back since. Also the staff overall are very professional and kind. I have no issues with getting appointments and if I run into issues they work with me no problem. Overall I am beyond grateful and happy I found this behavior health clinic.

I just recently transferred to Suffolk Crossroads from Petersburg Crossroads and so far its been great. The staff at Suffolk is just as nice as the staff was in Petersburg. I would most definitely recommend Suffolk or Petersburg Crossroads to anyone looking to get help with their drug addiction. Hopefully your recovery will go as good as mine has or even better. The only reason and I mean the only reason I am giving this five stars is because of my counselor Miss Ell when I I'm telling you this woman has helped me so tremendously she saved my life and my family she helped me stay clean when the actual clinic was not doing what they were supposed to be doing for instance this woman found my papers that were sitting behind the reception desk under stack of paper for almost a week a little back side story I had surgery August 25th when in August 26th and tested for a benzo well they took my take-homes away that I had just gotten so it took me all over a few days to get the hospital to fax over my paperwork well she had found it took it to the doctor the doctor said the medication wasn't on there that I was lying. Well missile took it right back to her and showed her it's right here so again she's the one and only reason I have my take homes she's been working on getting me my take homes once again while moving up in my take-homes and there's one doctor there that's never there so it's next to impossible to get take homes but she made it happen and is still trying to make it happen. All I want to say is you have amazing people that work there that keep getting ran away all the time by the employees there that are just there for a paycheck I'm just thankful that she got me on the path that I need to be on mentally and physically before anything happens to her honestly because from here on out I will continue to do good and I will always think of her

As someone who was there for 3 days i thought it was amazing and the staff really do care and are really nice. I thought the food was pretty good for what it was and i did learn things to help me in the future. The other patients there are very very friendly and helpful. Being able to talk to others that are going through the same has very much helped my mental health. The only bad thing was that the first day and a half i got placed in a unit with people that needed more help and i was on the quieter side. Other than that it was great
