This place saved my life. With therapy and medication assisted treatment I am a whole different person than I was when I got there and now 2 years and many therapy hours later I will be forever grateful for the staff and doctors at this practice.

Accommodating appts, friendly & supportive therapist & drs. Only issue I have is when medical records, etc are requested I don’t think it should take multiple req & still take a month or longer for person/ persons requesting to receive. Also front desk employees could be a little bit more friendly & understanding 😝😆 Love Ghr😍

Absolutely the nicest staff in the whole world! From the moment you arrive, expect nothing but respect and positive vibes all around. The facility is extremely clean ,incredibly organized, and has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. They are honestly glad you came! The intake process was smooth and quick. All of the information,expectations, and program details are explained in detail so you know exactly what to expect. If you are thinking of starting the process to better your life then think no more, just go! Hours are great and they are more than willing to help you succeed! I was at the Barry Robinson Center for about six months. I arrived there in about December and left in June or July. Here’s a brief summary of how my experience looked like. First when you arrive, you have signatures to sign and paperwork to go over. You consent to stay at BRC for however long it takes for you and whoever you’re having altercations with, to be solved. Then, you go into your a nursing area and get your medications checked in. Right after, you’re off to your age-selected dorm to get your clothes and bedroom set. It’s about a 3-4 hour process, but you’ll get through it. Here’s more in depth experiences. At times, there may be things called codes. These are where kids in your dorm are throwing objects, arguing with dorm personnel, or just refusing to go anywhere. This could happen occasionally, or all the time. It could also last either 30 minutes, or up to an hour. Another situation that has happened is just pure arguing. For example, someone is watching a television show, a kid walks in wanting to change it, then they start arguing over it for no reason. This will most likely happen here, but the therapists will teach you ways on how to cope with it. My closing statements are that I want to thank the Barry Robinson Center Residential Coaches, Chefs, Nursing Staff, Therapists, my old therapist, Janitors, and whoever else I didn’t mention. If I had a child that was going through a problem I couldn’t solve, I would send them here and get them proper help they need. Thank you for reading this. ✌️ - Jackson

I was there Dec 2024 through June 2025 (hi people in my dorm who also wrote reviews). Of course can be improvements, but what struck me was the willingness to learn how they can improve. I was part of a little experiment they did of adding some of the residents to the leadership meetings. While I was there, I had an AMAZING therapist (love you Mrs. Christina) who really pushed me and didn't fall for my bull crap. The dorm staff was...... something. I loved them, they were really fun. Ms. Tessa was always fun and firm, directing us to where we needed to be. Ms. Mo was strict and an absolute necessity to me personally. She was a staff I really trusted and pushed me to try hard and know that relapses aren't failure or doom. Ms. Courtney told me everyday to smile because I didn't smile very often at first and she thought I had a nice smile. So thank you. Ms. Jahna always let me a listening ear, which I needed quite a few times. Ms. Gill was a great advocate, also ready to listen to me. Mr. Cal fed my love for poetry and treated me like an equal, not some troubled kid. There's too many dorm staff to mention, i love them all. They treated us like humans, all of them. My teachers, Mr. Jeff, Mrs. Kristen, Ms. Stephanie, and Ms. Katie were all amazing! (Especially Ms. Katie who helped me with algebra) Ms(or should I say Mrs.) MacKenzie was a great RT, not taking crap from anyone. Mr. Cal boosted my confidence through basketball, even though he was boy dorm staff. Mr. Willie was an absolute joy to be around, trying to take me running and reminded me and everyone that we were enough. Lastly, thank you to the other residents I knew. Some of yall annoyed me to the point of wanting to scream and throw punches, but I learned not just to suck it up, but to communicate and get through it healthily. To those I befriended, you made BRC less lonely and so much more fun. To this day, I still quote some of the crazy things said. "What am I supposed to do, breastfeed him?"
I recommend BRC to anyone who needs help. You have to accept the help for it to be given to you. I know you got this, as I was there too. You're problems aren't going to go away completely, but you can watch over yourself and will take control of your life again. I was lost in self harm, and now, four months later, just passed a year since I got hospitalized before BRC, I can manage the few thoughts that come. I'm improving communication with my family. You got this!

I was pregnant and they got Me in quickly, offered Me a mothers group that gave me free baby items while I was in fhe program, staff was nice ..just don't miss groups or they will immediately taper you every day and kick you out for atleast a month which led me back into addiction..thankfully I am sober now without needing maintenance so blessing in disguise..they helped wake me up..only give 4 stars cuz it could of went way worse..not everyone is so lucky as I was

This center was the one responsible of my recovery, they showed me the right path for it to be as effective as possible, I don't have anything negative to say and that is why I highly recommend it to anyone in seek of treatment.
My experience here as been a blessing. Professionals Ms Katrina and Mrs Stephanie of Norfolk CSB have given me tools, resources, and life management skills in a way that supports and helps me navigate through life. If you are in search of mental help please don't let low reviews discourage you. There is always special that can make a profound impact on others through human services.
I highly recommend this practice. I have worked with Demetre Curry for nearly 2 years and he is an amazing counselor. He is a great listener, provides helpful feedback and offers a safe space for me to explore, and to talk about experiences, feelings and challenges. Demetre goes above and beyond to deliver effective mental health care. Additionally, the receptionist, Liz Acevedo, is always helpful and pleasant to speak with.

Miss Natasha is AMAZING. After seeing several different counselors that were not helping me I was paired with her and I’ve never looked back since. Also the staff overall are very professional and kind. I have no issues with getting appointments and if I run into issues they work with me no problem. Overall I am beyond grateful and happy I found this behavior health clinic.

Suffolk brightview is awesome. The doctor she is so personalabel and nice and understanding keeps uplifted and always wants to know how your recoveryis going and what exactlycan she do to help and , the counselor Kenny is helpful and nice and listens to you. Katrina and receptionist are so nice and we have the best directors Kensley ever. Plus we have one nurse that's sweet funny and they all talk to you and it's like a family in there. If you are in or near Suffolk Va. I highly recommend.

I’ve been here twice and both times I’ve been welcomed with an open mind and enthusiasm to help keep my sobriety journey pushing. From Sheba the BAH to her counter part Ms. Paula starting our mornings off with laughter and enthusiasm to encourage us to keep going and keep pushing. To Ms. D and Ms. Ebony on second shift to help center and reflect on ourselves. When you have an enthusiastic discharge coordinator like Keisha who encourages you each day to push past my mental barriers. To therapists like Jessica and Mrs. White who help break things down there’s no room for failures. I am my biggest critic. So I just needed some sustenance from the cooks to keep me going and that’s the best part. They worked day in and day out to keep us all fed. All in all it was a great time, I couldn’t have asked for a greater support system from Jay who would always pause and take the time to talk and listen to any of our grievances to the nurses like charnel and heather who are always down to give advice and support. It was just a very supportive and helpful supportive environment. I can’t reiterate it enough and I recommend this to anyone looking for a recovery program for substance abuse. It’s been a life saver for me

I have been coming to Brightview for about 4 yrs or so. Pretty much since the research Dr location opened. Have been there thru all the B's in the beginning, have outlasted all the original workers there. Even though the staff seems to constantly change it is changing for the better. Only issue I have is the counselors, they come and go.. I'm not going to open up and spill my everything to only have to repeat it again a month or two later. I wish Dr. Orr would come back!! He was my favorite. Anyways I would and have definitely recommended Brightview to people!!

The only reason and I mean the only reason I am giving this five stars is because of my counselor Miss Ell when I I'm telling you this woman has helped me so tremendously she saved my life and my family she helped me stay clean when the actual clinic was not doing what they were supposed to be doing for instance this woman found my papers that were sitting behind the reception desk under stack of paper for almost a week a little back side story I had surgery August 25th when in August 26th and tested for a benzo well they took my take-homes away that I had just gotten so it took me all over a few days to get the hospital to fax over my paperwork well she had found it took it to the doctor the doctor said the medication wasn't on there that I was lying. Well missile took it right back to her and showed her it's right here so again she's the one and only reason I have my take homes she's been working on getting me my take homes once again while moving up in my take-homes and there's one doctor there that's never there so it's next to impossible to get take homes but she made it happen and is still trying to make it happen. All I want to say is you have amazing people that work there that keep getting ran away all the time by the employees there that are just there for a paycheck I'm just thankful that she got me on the path that I need to be on mentally and physically before anything happens to her honestly because from here on out I will continue to do good and I will always think of her

I just like to thank God and my lord and Savior Jesus Christ for blessing me with a wonderful counselor like miss elle.my name is Alton Turner I'm know by 2117.and I just wanted to share what a long journey this has been for me in my recovery.my counselor Ms Elle has inspire me to stay clean and sober so well, that I know have 30 days take home.due to her knowledge and perfection in dealing with recovery.she has taught me very inspiring ways to stay clean and sober and how to apply them to my life.i been clean and sober so long due to her encouraging me I have lost count.i can truly say now because of her help that I will not look back and will keep going forward.and I have also encouraged others by using the methods she taught me to stay clean and sober as well.i just want the world to know that this woman has truly made a positive change in my life and many others who have shared their testimony with me about her.once again I pray that God will continue her on this path because she has changed so many lives with her love and compassion she show towards anyone that crosses her path.thank you for letting me share this wonderful experience about my counselor.

Crossroads was my truly life savior....if it wasn't for them I don't think I would be here today....it is a very nice clean place to go....there has been a lot of change over so far as counselors but it hasn't hurt me...I'm very please with Crossroads....I have even brought several people in for help....I don't know how they are doing now tho because I get take homes of 27 now so I stay to myself...Great place to go for help.....

I came to Crossroads in October 2017. I was lost and needed a strong foundation on which to plant my feet in recovery. I found that at Crossroads. I have always felt respected and hopeful with my treatment here. Crossroads has stood by me in my recovery through many trials and tribulations and I’m very thankful! There are some wonderful people here, my counselor Antionette is awesome and checks on me periodically throughout the time I’m not at the Clinic. The nurse’s are great about with helping me in any way that they can! Crossroads is a great place if you’re ready to start the path to recovery!!!! Thanks to all of you guys for helping me in this journey :))

it's a mostly good place. not all the staff are my favorite, but that's going to happen anywhere. the new director was handed a pile of mess and is trying to make the best of it while making things better at the same time, and she's doing the best she can with what she was given from what I can tell. most of these patients just don't have.... patience. I've seen them corner staff members and scream at them for being held outside while a patient is having a medical emergency in the lobby. they only care about themselves, and there are no employees or security on drugs or smoking pot outside.
I'm hopeful they can get to a place where they can have a really good crew that stays for a long time and works cohesively together. I'm glad this clinic is here for those of us that need it.
the only staff member I truly have an issue with is a counselor (?) Sarah. I'm not sure what her problem is but she looks at us and treats us like we're just a bunch of junkies and nothing more. she is rude to clinic patients, she's not understanding to any situation, she lies to patients just so she doesn't have to do something, or even try, and the worst one: she also breaks HIPAA - her office is right off the lobby & if you're standing there, you can hear both sides of her entire Zoom call therapy appointments because she keeps her door wide open during these calls. I heard everything one young woman said in her appointment, very personal things. she should be ashamed of herself. the behavior I have seen from her is honestly unacceptable, and I don't believe this is the job for her. if you think addicts are beneath you, you shouldn't be working here Sarah.

I would highly recommend this facility to anyone who is struggling with addiction. For the first time in my life I have found a place with a staff that not only cares deeply for their patients, but also do not make their patients feel judged. They really do seem to care beyond any other facility I have been to, and I have been to several. I still have a long way to go, but just knowing that they see their patients as human beings who are in a lot of pain emotionally and mentally, and not just “junkies” , is what gives me the strength and courage to keep trying. The staff is absolutely amazing. I will forever be grateful for this , facility, the staff, and the doctors associated with this treatment program.

This program at this facility helped me work my own recovery. I had good and okay counselors the one I'm moving facilities from I will miss greatly. She advocated for my constant part in the program I followed their program and in turn I have been rewarded with freedom from my active addiction. Even if I need to be in this program longer than other people think, I'll always be grateful to this place and the professionals that showed up every single day so I didn't have to be a street addict anymore with no way of accomplishing mental health and sucess. Thank you, I hope the next pinnacle in my journey sets a gold star like all of you!

This is by far one of the best PHP (Partial Hospitalization Programs) I have ever experienced in my entire journey of combatting this ugly disease of addiction. After arriving feeling hopeless, worthless, helpless, void of any will or desire left to go on, I have a new renewed belief in myself and hope for a new and promising future. The staff is phenomenal, and Hind is exceptional. Please do yourself a favor and take some time out to get well. I am so glad I did.
