Detox was as comfortable as could be. Scenic place, open for family to visit. Beautiful location on the side of a mountain. Programming wasn't overwhelming. Food came from hospital but was surprisingly good. Watched movies afterwards and went into the city for meetings each day Most concerning downfall.. Nursing staff gossiping about clients. Attitude from nursing was to be expected. Tgey would also speak to techs on client situations that was bothersome. We could hear everything that was said. To add to: Random strangers in NA/AA knew how long I was in treatment and pointed her out as the problem Chris Lynch 11 months ago 14+ months still going strong, thanks to my 28 days at Pathways last January. Incredible, amazing treatment center; compassionate staff, good food, cozy rooms.. just enough regimented schedule to keep folks on task, and just enough freedom to not feel like you’re locked up in there. Great variety of group sessions. I loved it there. I can’t thank the staff enough. They have a caring staff and Amy, their director, is a good compassionate leader. I think they have a good pace at this place and keep you busy but there’s plenty of breaks too. Jason McGuire 6 months ago Today was my first visit and it was a pleasant one. Autumn and Christine were very polite and helpful. I enjoyed a nice cup of coffee while filling out my paperwork. Then talked with Autumn and Christine so they could give me a urine screen and then check my vitals before visiting with the computer screen for a few minutes waiting for Dr. Sheri to get to me. The computer freezing up while talking with the doctor was the only thing that didn't run smoothly as far as I could tell. That in itself is pretty amazing considering they were not using their normal offices and reception area due to busted pipes in the rooms above them. I was never warned by my doctor that the medication he was given me would turn my life upside down and when it did my doctor cut me loose. Coming from a family with addiction problems I then knew I had to get help. This treatment center is great compared to others! They help you with EVERYTHING from your addiction to your transportation needs. Be prepared for friends and family to turn their back on you because it will happen. Narrow minded people think this isn’t getting help it’s replacing on addiction with another. If that’s the case then almost everyone in the world are addicts. If you get the flu and take medication for it same thing, you get poison ivy you get medicine for it same thing. Yes I know it’s not 100% exact but hopefully some of you get my point here! Please stop knocking us down when we are doing everything we can to fix the problem. I promise you if you take treatment seriously and friends and family support you and even get involved in your treatment you will find yourself again. The benefits are excellent. We’ve adapted and so appreciate the VA! Day 2 and not as impressed but they did fix a wrong scan order so we didn’t have to pack up and leave. Was told meds ready and not there yet. A very long day running around getting nothing done. Day 1 was very impressed with the care my 93 yr old vet fatherin-law received today. He couldn’t have asked for more. All difficulties were addressed, the nearby UVA pharmacy was super speedy and convenient. A different specialty drug through the VA pharm was free and can now be taken.. They have MDs that can come to your house. We got appts lined up a week after we called. Everyone was super awesome. The RN couldn’t been nicer. MD super thorough. A wonderful asset for veterans! We waded through another VA out of state and it was hell getting things set up and no thoroughness medically but also provided great services. We’re happy to find this easier. Thank u! They picked me up and brought me in to see a nurse and doctor. Then, set me up for more help next week! Really a wonderful experience during a crisis for me. It s hard to be positive when abuse is happening, but today Region Ten spent hours deescalating and managing my crisis issues well. It s hard to say: I was raped and in the UVA care unit, I was assaulted by 3 long relationship partners and needed shelter for emergency and care for the physical abuse. Now, my mental health is in crisis after a 7-month roommate situation turned violent. All this past trauma builds up and comes up when new abuse. I was able to get out all the bad, plan for counseling for future mental and physical care. Thank you! Your team even stayed late, and it s nice to know others in crisis can come to you. Valley helped me when I was a child and their crisis counselors letter kept me out of juvy so years later after my 8th OD I picked them as my first rehab since they helped me in the past. 1 year 11 months sober now, Everyone is kind and helpful and fufills the role they were assigned. Part of getting sober is to stop blaming all your problems on the world and others and a lot of people in these replies seem to have had a skewed view of what VCSB was supposed to do or made mistakes and blame the situation they put themselves in on this place. I say none of this to put myself above them, everyone is in different phases of there recovery and I only wish the best for every person who is involuntarily or voluntarily chosing to go here. I chose VCSB and I followed the directions to a Tbut the most important factor was chosing everyday to try an be better, if you try to be a little bit better than the day before you will do whatever you set yourself upon. I've had an okay one though. the waitlist is HELL though. took a year for autism and ADHD testing and the Dr didn't even do ADHD testing. and I need more testing but insurance + waitlist isn't great right now. They met him "where he was" and gradually have shown him a way to sober living. Fear of failure can be a trigger and I think he knows that they will be there if he falls without any judgement. He likes the warm and family-like atmosphere that they offer. 3 years ago I've been in this program for a little over four months, and it has saved my life.
