Over these many years, I have never had a bad experience with the VA Clinic in Lynchburg. I have always been treated with excellent medical care and respect. I am very grateful to everyone on the staff.
For many years I had a one star review and long PTSD rant on google. But I've since mostly healed from my trauma and Horizon has really flourished in recent years. It's obvious leadership makes a huge difference to improve a place! They do a lot of good for the community!
The people seem friendly. I love my Dr. She's patient, caring and actually listens to me. I've been going here for yrs and only had a couple of hiccups (scheduling and my ability to get there on time)Otherwise so far everything's been good. Would recommend to others.

It's an okay place though my mom had a bad experience (she requested a female therapist and was given a male one; overall didn't have a good experience and switched her place). I've had an okay one though. the waitlist is HELL though. took a year for autism and ADHD testing and the Dr didn't even do ADHD testing. and I need more testing but insurance + waitlist isn't great right now.
But my therapist is nice though, so no complaints there
Amazing friendly and real life staff…. Accepts you where you come from but encourages growth and helps you better understand yourself and the WHY behind it all! Wish I’d found them sooner!

My son has tried inpatient rehab in the past and it didn't work. Madeline Centre has reached him in a way that others haven't. They met him "where he was" and gradually have shown him a way to sober living. Fear of failure can be a trigger and I think he knows that they will be there if he falls without any judgement. He likes the warm and family-like atmosphere that they offer.

I've been in this program for a little over four months, and it has saved my life. I know many others would say the same except for the stigma, but I want people to know that it does work so that more people will give it a try.

Been going here a couple of years now and love it. Clean facilities, super friendly (and patient) front of office staff, flexible scheduling, great medical and behavioral staff. I receive primary, mental, and dietary care all in one place.
There were a lot of choices when I decided to find a rehab facility. I'm glad that I chose this one. They accepted my insurance, put me thru the paces, gave me a new perspective, and ultimately got me sober. I wouldn't be alive now if i hadn't gone here. I was ready to start a new life and they gave me the skills and time to do just that. I'd recommend this place to anyone, and have been since I completed the program 2 years ago. The staff and program director have my deepest gratitude.

Today was my first visit and it was a pleasant one. Autumn and Christine were very polite and helpful. I enjoyed a nice cup of coffee while filling out my paperwork. Then talked with Autumn and Christine so they could give me a urine screen and then check my vitals before visiting with the computer screen for a few minutes waiting for Dr. Sheri to get to me. The computer freezing up while talking with the doctor was the only thing that didn't run smoothly as far as I could tell. That in itself is pretty amazing considering they were not using their normal offices and reception area due to busted pipes in the rooms above them. I really appreciate that they remained patient, polite and funny while obviously working in a busy stressful situation. Thanks again Autumn, Christine and Dr. Sheri.

Mount Regis was the best. Staff was great. It was a journey of course. However I made it through now on to the next step of my recovery.

Mt. Regis is professionally run by caring individuals who wanted to help me be successful! One thing that meant much to me: I felt like I could heal in a safe and secure environment! Troublemakers were removed promptly with no disruption to us patients! A Phenomenal staff who earned my deepest respect! Thank You! 😃

The ladies that greet and check you in are always personable and cheerful, the nurses competent and professional, and the providers are well-versed, quite knowledgeable, and focus on the problems that need to be addressed. I was a resident there whenever I was a teenager it helped me a lot it'll help you if you let it the staff is very sweet caring and understanding pam was my therapist so she helped me out a lot
Let me start by saying that I haven't sought mental health help in 10 years due to horrific treatment by past doctors.
That changed yesterday when I saw Noel Dianas-Huges & Laura Cook. They cared. They listened. They helped. After 10 years of suffering in silence without a glimmer of hope, they were there for me on my very first visit. There are no words to describe the depths of my gratitude. Thank you. (Reception was awesome too!)

I have to admit I hated Augusta health for a long time. I ended up here under some very difficult circumstances. The staff made me believe in the impossible. I'm standing here today because of the entire staff of crossroads and I will forever be thankful for the strength, love, discipline, structure and knowledge of everyone who I interacted with there. I’ve been to both inpatient and outpatient groups and many a therapist. I am so happy here I could scream it from the mountaintops! They’ve done a huge turnaround and have some new policies and Darlene Hilton is a doll. No therapist has ever taken me under their wing like she has. She’s my one on one but I appreciate all of the therapists there and the work they do for IOP. Shoutout to Campbell! And the rest. It has been a great experience that has helped me grown tremendously and I can’t wait to see what the future holds there for me! They have it all! They’re program is the best thing that has happened to me in DECADES!

I don't have any drug or alcohol problems thank the good Lord but I just want to give a big shout for Sarah who actually takes the time to listen to me and my concerns about medicines and stuff. Even though I have no addiction issues:
(Father God's Love, Jesus' saving grace,
Breathing, eating,sleeping,
music, my cat, coffee and cigars), Sarah is very caring and very concise with process and progress of all needs and always listens to medication needs and fills them with my particular needs in mind, keeping me from having to go to the pharmacy too many times.

Went through this program around 2016. Detox was as comfortable as could be. Scenic place, open for family to visit. Beautiful location on the side of a mountain. Programming wasn't overwhelming. Food came from hospital but was surprisingly good. Watched movies afterwards and went into the city for meetings each day
Most concerning downfall.. Nursing staff gossiping about clients. Attitude from nursing was to be expected. Tgey would also speak to techs on client situations that was bothersome. We could hear everything that was said. To add to: Random strangers in NA/AA knew how long I was in treatment and pointed her out as the problem

Incredible, amazing treatment center; compassionate staff, good food, cozy rooms.. just enough regimented schedule to keep folks on task, and just enough freedom to not feel like you’re locked up in there. Great variety of group sessions. I loved it there. I can’t thank the staff enough.
That place absolutely pulled me out of the deep end and gave me a leg up to get started at sobriety, and saved my life.

Pathways is the best treatment center in Virginia. They have a caring staff and Amy, their director, is a good compassionate leader. I think they have a good pace at this place and keep you busy but there’s plenty of breaks too. The huge majority of the staff are good people. They have good food.
My only suggestion - let people have nicotine vapes please 🙏

I found David after hitting a rock bottom point in my marriage and personal life. He has helped me heal old trauma, learn essential new skills like communicating my wants and needs, and understanding my husbands perspective. David is truly brilliant. I had a great experience with New Choices. I'm in the process of getting my driver's license restored after some years of suspension, and substance / alcohol abuse counseling was one of the requirements. I decided to join the group sessions that David holds several times per week and was thoroughly impressed with his level of investment and dedication to his clients. For people in crisis, here is an individual with many years of experience helping people clean up the wreckage they've created in their lives and figure out how to stabilize the crisis and make the changes necessary to get started on a path of recovery. Highly recommend.
Spero Health is hands down the best addiction treatment center. I’ve been to over 5 different places to be able to get subs, and I’m blown away at the quality of service Spero provides!! I drove 1.5 hours to get here and it’s worth it. The office is quiet, clean, smells good, and plays good music. The staff are so incredibly attentive and kind. They make me feel like I’m an active participant in my treatment, like I’m the one making the decision on what I want to do. Every dollar I spent and every mile I drove to get here was worth it!

My son is currently there. I can't thank them enough or even express enough gratitude towards them for all the help they're giving my son. He's been to several other facilities and I promise you don't wanna know the horror he went through. So when I say this place is the truth, it truly is a god given gift. Lewis Gale MC was the best place for me during a crisis 9 months postpartum
I was voluntary and quickly DTO’d due to not being able to articulate I was uncomfortable with the room I was in.
Due to COVID no visitors were allowed, however, hopefully if not ideal patients can at least FaceTime/messenger family
The one time the third floor went outside I don’t recalling grass, I believe it was all pebbles. When I transitioned to the second floor, there was a window in the room and we were able to go to the gym for group. I would hope that on the weekends, the third floor gets to visit the gym, I did not during my stay in 2023. The staff on the third floor, for the exact people, I need in my life to get help at that time. Essentially angels to me.

Valley is just one of a long list of places that offer helpful resources it is NOT the be all end all of rehabs and it doesn't act like it is. Valley helped me when I was a child and their crisis counselors letter kept me out of juvy so years later after my 8th OD I picked them as my first rehab since they helped me in the past. 1 year 11 months sober now, Everyone is kind and helpful and fufills the role they were assigned. Part of getting sober is to stop blaming all your problems on the world and others and a lot of people in these replies seem to have had a skewed view of what VCSB was supposed to do or made mistakes and blame the situation they put themselves in on this place. I say none of this to put myself above them, everyone is in different phases of there recovery and I only wish the best for every person who is involuntarily or voluntarily chosing to go here. I chose VCSB and I followed the directions to a Tbut the most important factor was chosing everyday to try an be better, if you try to be a little bit better than the day before you will do whatever you set yourself upon. Thank you VCSB for helping me at my lowest.

VCSB supported me at my lowest point when I felt I had been let down by all other avenues of help. I have continued with them for 6 years even though I now have health coverage, because I NEED the extra things they do to prevent myself from falling through the cracks. I am afraid to go to another practice because elsewhere I have been prone to forgetting appointments or making some other brain-fart mistake, and can't seem to meet standard expectations. I am blessed with a panic disorder that kicks in when I feel unheard, dismissed or unfairly judged...so I AVOID people (other mental clinics' office staff) who interact with me in this way. The VCBS office staff has never been less than respectful in my years of experience.
Recently diagnosed at aged 60 with underlying autism, I did hope my provider would have some renewed understanding of my challenges. Sadly, I don't feel that is the case. I have tolerated our interactions for 3 years, but now knowing the source of my difficulties (autism) I realize more fully that I am a very poor self-advocate. I tend to expect to be misjudged and misunderstood, and then when it happens, spend hours trying to understand why.
This should not be my experience from my mental health provider. I now don't know where to turn.
I considered a lower rating, but one mismatched provider among many great supportive staff over almost 8 years does not warrant that. (I am surprisingly objective, because...autism.)

Amazing service and kind understanding therapists. I've been using horizon for close to 2 years now and have received tremendous care. Scott Bradley, whom I see, never pushes me to follow by the book therapy and allows me to choose my own path. A fantastic listener and patient therapist, he has seen me at my worst and best. I ALWAYS feel encouraged, safe, and cared for when I'm there. I have come a long way thanks to him. I owe Horizon and Scott my deepest gratitude for helping unravel my anxiety, depression, and emotional struggles.

Dr Gilmore is amazing. So helpful, understanding, and compassionate. Also very thorough. Can't say as much for everyone else. Some people are just RUDE and you can definitely tell they DO NOT enjoy working there. But as far as counselors, doctor's, and nurses, they are all amazing.
