I participated in Orchard Mountain Recovery's IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program), as well as their Aftercare. The team of professionals at OMR exceeded my expectations! The team is made up of counselors who themselves have been through the wringer of addiction, which adds a sense of relatability to their guidance and support. The programs are a mixture of group sessions, education, amazing speakers, and videos/movies about addiction and recovery, so it's always stimulating and I learned something new every session. OMR's IOP and Aftercare were the perfect 'step-downs' for me and definitely a very important tool for my 'toolbox.'

I've been going here for 6months and before that I was at the VA. There's a few differences between them both but most of all I can tell the Care. I have had 2 Counselors which is understandable considering the work load they have. Since the begining I have been happy and impressed how easy they made my transferring. I started just where I left off at the VA.The only thing I don't agree with or understand is when getting an increase u have to pick up for 3days before getting ur tak homes. I can understand this policy when u a starting out. But it doesn't make much sense after that. I can also say when there was a problem with my pick up (ther Mistake) my councler fixed and had all my bottles in 30mins. All I can say is If u work the program it works. Thank you

This is the only MAT program clinicnive ever been to but they have been amazing. If you are serious about your recovery they most definitely are going to help you. I've had a couple friends go to other clinics and from what was said FCCR is more strict and that's so important. Especially if you are serious about your recovery and do really want to better yourself and your life. The office staff is amazing there. The nurses are wonderful. I've had 3 different counselors due to 2 of them moving on to better their lives, but every counselor I have had has been wonderful. Very helpful. Easy to talk to. Thank you FCCR for being there and helping me better myself and my life. "It works if you work it"

I’ve been going here for 6 now. When BHG took over the old clinic, River City, there were growing pains as any company has going through a takeover. Then the pandemic happens during the takeover. Staff was leaving left & right because patients blamed them for literally EVERTHING. The patients refused to see the bigger picture and wanted to blame staff for following the pandemic rules. BHG was the only clinic in RVA excepting new patients during the pandemic because they genuinely want to SAVE LIVES! Somehow so many patients complained about so many new patients holding up lines. Anyway, with all of that being said, I’ve seen staff come & go BUT THE STAFF THEY HAVE NOW IS SO CARING & want nothing but THE best for us!!! Dr. Swainey is so down to earth once you see how much he relates to us, you’ll have so much respect for his compassion to help us that are stuck in this awful cycle. I could write a book on how much I’ve grown to adore the staff & they ALL deserve the absolute best in life. Every single one of them have played a part in my new outlook of life and I owe that to them. <3

McShin Foundation is a recovery community organization that offers drug and alcohol addiction treatment for individuals in Richmond, Virginia. They also provide valuable community resources, such as referrals, social services, and family support. Addiction-related services offered at McShin Foundation include mental health assessment and counseling
The McShin Foundation has played a life-changing role in my substance abuse recovery. When I came to McShin, I was lost, overwhelmed, and unsure of how to rebuild my life. What I found there was a community that believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. The staff and peers at McShin provided not only structure and accountability, but also genuine compassion and support. They helped me understand recovery in a new way—through honesty, connection, and personal responsibility. The peer-to-peer model made a huge difference for me, because I was surrounded by people who had been where I was and came out stronger. McShin gave me the tools to stay clean, rebuild my confidence, and start moving toward a healthier, more stable future. They didn’t just help me get sober—they helped me understand why my recovery mattered and how to maintain it day by day. I’m grateful for everything McShin has done for me: the guidance, the encouragement, the safe environment, and the belief that I could change my life. I wouldn’t be where I am today without their support. If you’re struggling and looking for a recovery community that truly cares and truly works, the McShin Foundation is the place to start.

What we love about Mcshin is the fact that the truly care about the people . They have provided numerous scholarships to people that we refer to them . They truly are people over profit . We refer hundreds of people a year to treatment facilities and Mcshin is one of our highest rated network partners from the people we send there . The McShin Foundation has truly saved my life. They have given me the tools, strength, and faith in myself to build a strong and lasting recovery. Over the past nine months, I’ve created an amazing support system filled with genuine friendships and people I now consider family. I am beyond grateful and proud of how far I’ve come, and I owe so much of that to McShin. This journey has been full of challenges, but also incredible blessings — and I wouldn’t change a single thing. Every struggle taught me something, and McShin was there beside me every step of the way, guiding, encouraging, and believing in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. I want to especially thank Laura, Jonni, MJ, and Haleigh for your constant support, love, and encouragement throughout this journey. You have all played such an important role in my growth and healing. McShin will always hold a special place in my heart, and I’m forever grateful for everything they have done to help me become the person I am today. 💙

My first initial appointment was so in depth and detailed, I felt like they really cared about me and wanted to know about my health. My experience at New Life Christian Retreat Center was truly memorable. The location is stunning, exuding peace and tranquility. The staff members are warm, helpful, and accommodating without being intrusive. The accommodations are cozy, and spacious. The retreat center has on-property access to the North Anna River and scenic forest trails. I was there for a women's retreat, but would suggest this site for a wedding, family reunion, or just a place to unplug and relax. If you want to get out for a daytrip, the area has plenty of historical attractions, plus the retreat center is not far from Ashland Berry Farm, Lake Anna State Park, and Kings Dominion. My group stayed on the property -- you'll understand why when you see it. Personally, I left feeling rejuvenated and uplifted after my stay at New Life Christian Retreat Center. I highly recommend this place.

Went through this program around 2016. Detox was as comfortable as could be. Scenic place, open for family to visit. Beautiful location on the side of a mountain. Programming wasn't overwhelming. Food came from hospital but was surprisingly good. Watched movies afterwards and went into the city for meetings each day Most concerning downfall.. Nursing staff gossiping about clients. Attitude from nursing was to be expected. Tgey would also speak to techs on client situations that was bothersome. We could hear everything that was said. To add to: Random strangers in NA/AA knew how long I was in treatment and pointed her out as the problem

14+ months still going strong, thanks to my 28 days at Pathways last January. Incredible, amazing treatment center; compassionate staff, good food, cozy rooms.. just enough regimented schedule to keep folks on task, and just enough freedom to not feel like you’re locked up in there. Great variety of group sessions. I loved it there. I can’t thank the staff enough. That place absolutely pulled me out of the deep end and gave me a leg up to get started at sobriety, and saved my life.

Having an intervention for my brother was not going to be an easy thing to do. We knew we couldn’t do it alone. Someone put us in touch with Sam. This past week, we had scheduled an intervention for one of our family members. While I was not the one who coordinated it, Sam still showed what a true professional is and guided everyone in the right direction. Not only did he educate us on how to interact, but he advised us to use certain words/phrases which was a tremendous amount of help. He stays with you through the entire process and is always there if you need. Even though the family member was tough on Sam, he kept his professionalism and was able to guide him to treatment. When we arrived to the facility, the family member actually thanked and gave Sam a hug for what he had done. 10/5 I highly highly encourage you to hire Sam for the help of your loved one.

Sam saved my uncles life, who was given a year to live and refused to get help until we had an intervention. Sam’s 93% success rate is no joke. If you have a family member struggling with addiction don’t look anywhere else, bring Sam in to help. We got in touch with Sam and he was willing to come hold an intervention the next day. As a family, we decided to wait a week so that we could coordinate everything and find a bed. Sam, let us know the process, met with our family the night before the intervention and had my uncle into rehab the same day. Sam took the time to understand the situation, provide empathy to our family but most importantly told us and my uncle the truth even if it was hard for us to hear. He will also support the family and addict until the treatment program is completed in full. With Sam’s help, my uncle has taken the first step to get healthy and there is now hope for his future.

Valley is just one of a long list of places that offer helpful resources it is NOT the be all end all of rehabs and it doesn't act like it is. Valley helped me when I was a child and their crisis counselors letter kept me out of juvy so years later after my 8th OD I picked them as my first rehab since they helped me in the past. 1 year 11 months sober now, Everyone is kind and helpful and fufills the role they were assigned. Part of getting sober is to stop blaming all your problems on the world and others and a lot of people in these replies seem to have had a skewed view of what VCSB was supposed to do or made mistakes and blame the situation they put themselves in on this place. I say none of this to put myself above them, everyone is in different phases of there recovery and I only wish the best for every person who is involuntarily or voluntarily chosing to go here. I chose VCSB and I followed the directions to a Tbut the most important factor was chosing everyday to try an be better, if you try to be a little bit better than the day before you will do whatever you set yourself upon. Thank you VCSB for helping me at my lowest.

VCSB supported me at my lowest point when I felt I had been let down by all other avenues of help. I have continued with them for 6 years even though I now have health coverage, because I NEED the extra things they do to prevent myself from falling through the cracks. I am afraid to go to another practice because elsewhere I have been prone to forgetting appointments or making some other brain-fart mistake, and can't seem to meet standard expectations. I am blessed with a panic disorder that kicks in when I feel unheard, dismissed or unfairly judged...so I AVOID people (other mental clinics' office staff) who interact with me in this way. The VCBS office staff has never been less than respectful in my years of experience. Recently diagnosed at aged 60 with underlying autism, I did hope my provider would have some renewed understanding of my challenges. Sadly, I don't feel that is the case. I have tolerated our interactions for 3 years, but now knowing the source of my difficulties (autism) I realize more fully that I am a very poor self-advocate. I tend to expect to be misjudged and misunderstood, and then when it happens, spend hours trying to understand why. This should not be my experience from my mental health provider. I now don't know where to turn. I considered a lower rating, but one mismatched provider among many great supportive staff over almost 8 years does not warrant that. (I am surprisingly objective, because...autism.)
