There have been some screwups over the years but mostly I've had good experiences. Things definitely also depend on your own attitude & your counselor, so switch counselors if you're not a match with yours.
Original: This place has improved drastically since the new director has taken over approx 1 year ago. Its the only clinic that has ever shown me they actually care about their patients. Awful lady who gives you your meds at the window (Tunisia?) is gone, also so is awful front desk lady (Cheryl). I made a complaint about them 2 weeks after new director took over and didnt receive retribution or bad treatment they actually told me I was 100% right, I could not be any more right, what can they do to correct this? I couldnt believe it, as someone in recovery, I had never been treated this way (treated well!). There are many wonderful people now working at this place! Much better clinic than ANY of the others in the area

I've been going here for 6months and before that I was at the VA. There's a few differences between them both but most of all I can tell the Care. I have had 2 Counselors which is understandable considering the work load they have. Since the begining I have been happy and impressed how easy they made my transferring. I started just where I left off at the VA.The only thing I don't agree with or understand is when getting an increase u have to pick up for 3days before getting ur tak homes. I can understand this policy when u a starting out. But it doesn't make much sense after that. I can also say when there was a problem with my pick up (ther Mistake) my councler fixed and had all my bottles in 30mins. All I can say is If u work the program it works. Thank you

Avalon Recovery House is a sober living facility in Richmond, Virginia. They provide outpatient addiction treatment and sober living for adults. Avalon Recovery provides a warm and structured environment f | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I moved into the Avalon house about 8 months ago. It has really become a home to me. There is a lot of women in one home but we all manage to get along rather well. The Avalon house has been a safe , supportive, clean environment. We operate similar to the Oxford model in that we hold one another accountable. Anastasia is a hands on housing manager but she gives you the room you need to be an adult and make the decisions for your recovery that you feel are right. If you follow the rules, and prove to her that you’re trustworthy then she affords you that trust and she is understanding. I truly believe that Avalon is one of the main reasons that I’ve been successful in my recovery thus far.
It’s imperative in early recovery to surround one’s self with like minded people and Avalon is absolutely a home that you will find the resources you need to grow and thrive into the person you want to be. I absolutely suggest this home to anyone that is willing to put in the work to live a sober life. It’s all about what we put into it that determines what we get out of it.

Been living at one of Anastasia's houses for over a year, I came to this place via a treatment center and have stayed since. The structure and supportive environment of the house, its owners and its other tenants have helped me to achieve the longest amount of sober time I've had since I first picked up a bottle.

Avalon is simply the best. The owner, Anastasia, is so genuinely invested in the success of every member in her program. She holds people accountable while also offering grace. She stands her ground on what she believes but also takes the time to truly listen. She's involved, caring, and earnestly invested in the path of recovery for every person she meets.
You won't leave this program without being impacted by what she and avalon has to offer. It develops structure, elevates discipline, and guides people from a state of "is this possible?" to a reality of unfathomable possibilities and complete change.
Avalon doesn't just change lives, it saves them

I have left a review on Tucker Pavillion before, but I have to do it again on another account to applaud how amazing the staff are at this behavioral health hospital. Throughout many years from the age 14-18, I was a very troubled teen who struggled with severe post traumatic issues, all of the staff including Adolescent (1 west), 3 east, 3 west, 2 east, were absolutely amazing to me. Every single time I was admitted to this hospital, I was treated with the upmost dignity and respect. A lot of people sit here and say a lot about this hospital, but please keep in mind it is a behavioral health hospital, it will be boring, and it won’t be the most fun place on earth. It is a safe place for so many of us to get help, as a teenager looking in every direction for somebody to help her with her severe bpd, they helped me, they were the only hospital to actually openly listen to me and everything I was going through, be thorough with my medications, and discharge instructions & recommendations. In 1 west there are so many staff I will very well remember for the rest of my life, so many staff I remember even though now I am almost 20 years old.
Staff who made a difference in every single day for the rest of my life. I trusted this hospital with my life and they are the one hospital who succeeded at taking care of me and making me feel comfortable. I could sit here and list names, but those who made a difference know exactly who they are in my life. I have now been in bpd remission since October 2024 and have not been admitted to tuckers since then. I am thriving in life now due to some of the skills these safe gave me after repeatedly giving me a warm welcome back when I needed the extra support. 1 west and 3 east both get a special shoutout for being overall superior and having some of the best staff on both units for adults & adolescents. Obviously some people will have things to say, like I said this is a behavioral health unit, but Tuckers never failed to go above and beyond for me when I was in some of the worst moments & crisis of my life. Years later I am grateful for Tuckers and their intervention in my life. I hope those staff remember my name too. All love always ~ Lanie🤍

This place is actually quite good, but I'm not sure if I would recommend it to anyone new if you have other options. At least not right now. I've been going for months and everything was fine and now it's like I see different counselors every time I go.
So I have to keep reiterating my story, specific issues, the supplements I take, etc. over and over again it makes things a little messy. Things have to be a little more consistent for proper assistance.
The turnover rate is bad over there right now which is usually not a good sign. But I don't know what's going on or why. I've probably seen like 7 different counselors now.
The people at the front desk are awesome though and the counselors I have seen numerous times are great, understanding and helpful.
I will update my review in a month or two, hopefully things get better there and stay like that for them.

I just started here at this clinic for substance abuse recovery. They do all different types of MAT treatment here. I am very impressed by the level of care and respect that they give to patients here. I am so glad I chose this place and they are very convenient and the hours are very convenient as well. They take almost every insurance which is awesome. Not having to worry financially about getting treatment was a big part of why I chose to come here. Everyone from the doctors to the nurses to the front office staff have been wonderful to me. I was so worried about being judged but no one has done that and it takes a big burden off of me. I wouldn't be alive without true recovery. Before I overdosed in 2021 I had burned every bridge in recovery. Heard I was hopeless wasn't going to change I can't blame the doubters I had been in every rco a lot of times so can't say I don't understand the doubt. True recovery after hearing I overdosed took one final chance and with there compassion gave me the hope and inspiration to use the tools that I was taught. Now I am coming up on 5 years clean and a portion of that credit goes to them because if they didn't I probably would have died.

True Recovery changed my life♥️ I was released from a correctional treatment program in March of 2024, and was with True until May of 2025. In that time I was given the tools I needed to succeed while re-entering society and stay clean OUTSIDE of incarceration. I gained a lifelong network of individuals that still to this day check on me and keep me in the loop! While there was a high level of accountability and structure, there was also understanding and grace and always a shoulder to lean on. Days were filled with productivity and support and groups, and even day trips to Jamestown beach! During my time here, Diana was the women's director (now the Director of Operations.) She was and still is the best role model I have ever met for women in recovery. I have recommended family to this program and they also remain in recovery to this day. I would recommend True Recovery RVA to anyone, whether they are new in recovery or being released from incarceration and need a fresh start.

This past week, we had scheduled an intervention for one of our family members. While I was not the one who coordinated it, Sam still showed what a true professional is and guided everyone in the right direction. Not only did he educate us on how to interact, but he advised us to use certain words/phrases which was a tremendous amount of help. He stays with you through the entire process and is always there if you need. Even though the family member was tough on Sam, he kept his professionalism and was able to guide him to treatment. When we arrived to the facility, the family member actually thanked and gave Sam a hug for what he had done. 10/5 I highly highly encourage you to hire Sam for the help of your loved one.

Sam saved my uncles life, who was given a year to live and refused to get help until we had an intervention. Sam’s 93% success rate is no joke. If you have a family member struggling with addiction don’t look anywhere else, bring Sam in to help.
We got in touch with Sam and he was willing to come hold an intervention the next day. As a family, we decided to wait a week so that we could coordinate everything and find a bed. Sam, let us know the process, met with our family the night before the intervention and had my uncle into rehab the same day.
Sam took the time to understand the situation, provide empathy to our family but most importantly told us and my uncle the truth even if it was hard for us to hear. He will also support the family and addict until the treatment program is completed in full. With Sam’s help, my uncle has taken the first step to get healthy and there is now hope for his future.

Hallmark Youth Care isn’t just doing good work they’re changing lives. You feel it the moment you walk in. The staff doesn’t clock in and go through the motions. They show up with heart. With patience. With a belief that every kid who walks through those doors deserves a shot at something better.
And that belief? It’s contagious.
You see it in the growth not just in the young people they serve, but in the team carrying this mission forward. They don’t expect perfection. They meet kids exactly where they are, walk beside them through the hard stuff, and celebrate every single win—big or small. That kind of consistency, that kind of care, it rewires what’s possible for a young person who’s never had stability.
Our community needs this. These aren’t statistics. These are kids who will one day lead families, start businesses, shape neighborhoods. Hallmark Youth Care understands that weight and they carry it with grace, grit, and an unshakable commitment to doing what’s right, even when it’s hard.
Grateful doesn’t quite cover it. But it’s a start.
If you’re looking to support something that actually matters this is it.

New Life for Adults and Youth has not only changed my life, but saved it. Once battling with a crippling heroin addiction, I am now set free and am able to be the daughter & sister I was meant to be. This program is well-rounded with vocational training, relapse prevention classes, and mentorship programs and focuses on the root of your addiction, not just the addiction itself. Everyone here embraces you with love, never judgement. I will forever be grateful to this program for healing me and restoring my family when I had lost all hope.

Richmond, VA | AppleGate Recovery Richmond in Richmond, Virginia, was an outpatient opioid addiction treatment facility for adults. The facility utilized medication assisted treatment (MAT) to help clients recover from substance use disorder. The staff members that clients would work with included nurse practitioners and doctors. While the Richmond location is cl | Treatments Programs Payment Options | One of the best clinics I have been to in the area. They have gone through some recent changes and it has made it even better. Probably one of the nicest and most compassionate staffs I have worked with. When they say they will do everything to meet you were you are at they mean it. They all treat you with dignity and respect, and not as a number. I’ve been to other clinics, and I can truly say Applegate is the best. If you are debating starting treatment I highly recommend you check them out!

Went today for the first time and I could not have asked for a better experience! The entire staff was amazing! I was completely comfortable, they took care of literally everything, the process was super smooth and the staff-again, I just can’t say how caring and welcoming they were. They made me feel right at home. 10/10. You won’t regret going here!

I’ve been visiting this practice for years and cannot speak highly enough about their service. The staff is expedient, accommodating, knowledgeable, friendly, compassionate, and kind. Rescheduling is always easy, and they are more than happy to work with you if you’re running a bit late. Through sublocade I have been able to regain confidence, security, and stability in my life, making me feel whole for the first time since childhood. I can’t encourage those in need of and ready for help to contact the Coleman Institute (AppleGate Recovery) enough.

Richmond, VA | Pinnacle Treatment Services of Richmond is a substance abuse treatment center in Richmond, Virginia. Their mission is to help you feel whole again through a life without using substances. The facility is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and the Virginia Association of Medication Assisted Recovery Programs. | Programs Payment Options | This place saved my life. I was there during the summer of 2024 for meth addiction, I came in and hated being there from the start and I complained a lot. Rehab isnt a pleasant place to be, it sucks having your freedoms restricted and watched constantly but there's no other way. I might not agree with everything there but the staff were amazing to me. This place kept me safe from myself while I was withdrawing from 10 years of using. Now I am approaching 2 years clean and employed full time as a forklift operator living alone and has the best family support structure. You have to want to get clean for the program to work, sometimes it's not everyone's time but I hit my rock bottom and was knocking on death's door. I am confident ill never go back to that life. Thank you Pinnacle!!!!

Our family is so very thankful to Gateway and staff. They treated my daughter like family. Instilled independence and also much needed support. Mental health is very hard but they made it just a little bit easier. Much of the staff that is here spend more time with these residents than they do their own families. They are extremely dedicated and love them beyond judgment. Being an adult with some of these problems can be extremely debilitating, but they give them the opportunity to still be independent and supported. I cannot say enough about the staffs commitment to our daughter and the way they treated her like their own family. Thank you so much for giving her some independence and the support she needed. Our family will always be extremely thankful to each and everyone of you. RIP Frankie.❤️

I'm very impressed with their ABA therapy. We are just a few months in and it has already been life-changing. We went from my autistic son being hospitalized constantly due to his behavior which we couldn't control. Now we are able to manage him and we are able to manage him. Still a long ways to go but I'm sure with them we will succeed. Do not hesitate to use them.
