I have taken several program participants to various medical and mental health appointments over the years both in Virginia and in Maryland and was hands down super impressed with the staff at the CSB juvenile, adult, and emergency services. There was quite a wait for emergency services but each department communicated with each other and was so polite. Brian Stewart is one of the few names that we caught but he was phenomenal. The staff checked on us, fed us, and gave us blankets. We saw them touching base with some individuals who were clearly in crisis and they were just so patient and caring. Dr. Smith was our emergency services doc and I wish he could see people regularly because he was funny and he made my program participant feel heard. I have been with an individual to the primary care as well and enjoyed the collaboration with DO Pristell.

*Disclaimer:*
This is a review for Kellar’s psychiatric medication management services only, as my child has not attended PHP here and is not involved in any of their other therapy programs either. I have also been told that the Kellar School is not technically connected to this location despite sharing a name and resources, so if you see any reviews here for that, just disregard them.
*And now for the actual review:*
My 13-year-old has a lot of developmental and intellectual deficits that has made finding a psychiatrist who can treat her extremely difficult, as most do not have the necessary expertise to communicate with her in a way that doesn’t send her into a behavioral crisis and unfortunately more than a few psychiatrists are unwilling break from their usual playbook when planning her care because they just don’t work with this population enough or they don’t have adequate time in their schedules to allow for a truly individualized approach for care.
Basically, working with Autistic/intellectually disabled children is an art form, and only a few providers can wield that brush effectively. Dr. Shruti Tewari is this provider. The way she is able to talk to my child at her level of understanding without coming off as condescending is incredible, and actually allows my child the dignity and ability to be an active participant in her care, which is a right but absolutely not a guarantee for the neurodivergent patient.
Just to give a little taste of what previous psychiatry practices find acceptable, up until now appointments have involved my child staring off into space while the clinicians completely ignore her the whole appointment, opting instead to just have us, the parents, answer questions about what we think her issues are, which puts me in the difficult position of having to talk about her like she isn’t even in the room when she’s actually able to understand just enough of what is going on to know we are talking about her like she is just a problem to solve, which I’m sure you can imagine is not great for a growing child’s self-esteem.
Anyway, to wrap up a review that somehow now also doubles as a rant about how absolutely dismal the current state of American mental healthcare is, Kellar’s reception staff is kind, professional, and they actually answer the phone (no dealing with call centers 5 states away or playing the endlessly frustrating game of email tag! Woo!). Yes, there can be a fairly long waitlist for this practice, but trust me, put your kid on it anyway, because by the time your child’s number comes up you’ll more than likely be joyously ready to switch from whatever psychiatrist you did end up finding for them. And If the other psychiatrists at this practice are even half as competent as Dr. Tewari, you are already in better hands than you would be with 99.9% of other providers, and I’m sure you want what’s best for your kid, otherwise you wouldn’t be here, would you?
Good luck with everything, having a child who needs psychiatric help can really drain your spirit no matter how much you want to be better than that, hopefully this review can help make your family’s journey just a little bit easier and a lot more humane. Peace & love.

After applying to this clinic for my daughter, I reviewed online reviews and didn't respond to the email I received for a consultation. Then I decided to try it. I figured if I didn't like it, I wouldn't continue. Coming here was the best decision of my life. Dr. Kalaskar and therapist Pritchard are the perfect people I've met. Speaking with them, all my stress and fear melted away. I felt a sense of "We'll figure it out." They guided not only my daughter but also me. They provided clear and insightful answers to my questions. They kept me updated. I owe you a great deal. I hope we meet again, but not as patients.

The program offered an array of therapies, challenged her ideas about food, and enabled her to build a healthy relationship with food. The duration was just over 6 weeks and over that time we saw healthy habits being formed. We especially appreciate Jenny and Ava, who were welcoming and accommodating when we visited and always supportive of our daughter’s needs. The medical staff were professional and understanding of their role in supporting her progression while keeping us informed. Mary the dietitian and Heather the therapist kept us in the loop and prepared us for the transition home. Ainsley provided structured education activities throughout the program. The ultimate decider for our family was how accommodating Center for Discovery was with our daughter’s food allergies. She had separate small appliances, pans, refrigerator, and dry storage space to prevent cross-contamination. During outings, the staff ensured safe options were available and taught our daughter ways to approach eating at restaurants with significant allergy considerations.
We would absolutely recommend the Center for Discovery to any young person struggling with an eating disorder.

CFD saved my life I have battled an Ed for 2 years now and since coming here and just leaving my life has been turned upside down for the better. I have learned so much here than I have in any other treatment. CFD helped me fix my body image issues and helped my exercise addiction and I was able to find other activities to enjoy besides those. All the staff here are absolutely amazing and so kind. I love you Sebastian, Lydia, nurse ester, and Sarah. I had a therapist switch in the middle of treatment but my new therapist was still able to provide an amazing experience at CFD and helped me so much. CFD is great and the treatment is very personalized with your own personal meal plan and after a while you can prep your own meals and go on walks. My favorite thing was going out and going on exposures to help me. All my peers were amazing and always so helpful. The staff is so kind and respectful. You can also go on walks once you reach medical stability. Highly recommend CFD.

From intake through discharge, I’ve had wonderful experience with Discovery Mood and Anxiety as an adult. The Fairfax team is caring and dedicated, and throughout my time in IOP, I saw efforts to continually try to improve the patience experience. I was able to attend 3x week with my schedule and also received a financial waiver due to my specific circumstances, which made this program possible for me. I’m so grateful for the skills I’ve learned and I feel like I can fully participate in and enjoy my own life again.

I can not thank the staff at Discovery Mood and Anxiety enough for all they have done for our child. This program was instrumental in helping our child who was struggling. Everyone from the intake staff, therapists, director, etc. were wonderful to work with. I would recommend this program to anyone whose child needs the IOP/PHP level of support. I was hesitant sending my child here initially given the reviews on google, but it was the best environment for our child- supportive, caring, understanding, nonjudgmental.

I had a great experience and this was my 4th treatment center. It’s not a cookie cutter program and felt very comfortable and welcomed. Since I left I’m still involved with the stuff they do in after care and alumni activities which are great ways to stay connected to a lot of people who truly are still putting in the work to stay sober and a lot of us have become close friends and hang out a few times a week. It’s not uptight like a lot of places which is very helpful in early recovery, the music aspect is great even if you don’t play any instruments, and the housing setup is great as well. The rules are pretty simple. No vaping inside (at the center) and you can’t have your phone during group lol pretty reasonable. Otherwise there’s still a sense of normalcy. Happy to share my own lyrics I created inspired by the powerful and determined feeling of Sia - The Greatest. I liked transforming the lyrics into something that reflects the dedication, strength, and supportive care that hospitals provide to so many patients. ❤️❤️🩹
My lyrics focus on how hospitals and healthcare teams continue working through challenging situations, including complex illnesses, serious injuries, and emergencies. I wanted to recognize the doctors, nurses, specialists, technicians, and all the other people who work together to support patients and families. 🚒🚑🚨🏥👩⚕️👨⚕️🩺💉💊🩼🦼
I also wanted to capture the idea of “stamina” how hospital systems have to keep going through long days and nights because patients can need care at any hour. Even when situations are difficult, healthcare teams continue working, learning, communicating, and doing their best to provide supportive care. 💙🩵🤍
This isn't meant to suggest that hospitals can solve every medical problem or guarantee every outcome. Instead, it's my way of expressing appreciation for the dedication and teamwork involved in helping people through some of their most difficult moments.
I had so much fun creating these lyrics! I hope this song gives people a little more appreciation for the many people who work tirelessly to care for patients. 🥰🏥🎶 “Virginia Hospital Center the greatest!!!”⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️

Yesterday, at Virginia Hospital Center, I had an in-and-out procedure, and from the time I walked in until the time I left, every individual that came across my path was pleasant, and I enjoyed my experience while I was there. My doctor was amazing. From the anesthesiologists to the nurses, everyone was pleasant. The front desk lady at check-in was also awesome. I'd have to say, if I do have to come back, which I hope I never do, I hope I can get the same service that I received yesterday. 😊 #Healthcare #Experience #Doctors #Nurses #Hospital

They are the best substance abuse help i have ever had, and I have had my share. They always take care of me. Maybel always makes me laugh and it messes with my blood pressure all the time (that's my excuse). Dona always has on fresh kicks and I'm jealous. Stephanie will always make sure I'm good, making sure I take care of my self. She really cares which is rare in my experience. Fatima digs and makes me deal when I don't want when I know I need to. They offer several levels of care which all fall under the category of outpatient care. These include standard outpatient care, intensive outpatient care and partial hospitalization care. T | Treatments Payment Options | I recently had the opportunity to visit Embark Behavioral Health, and one of the first things that stood out is how convenient the Tysons location is—easy to access, yet set in a way that still feels calm and contained.
From the moment I walked in, the space felt intentional and genuinely welcoming—something that’s not always easy to achieve in behavioral health settings. There’s a thoughtful balance here: it’s structured and clearly designed to support meaningful work, while still feeling open, comfortable, and human.
What stood out most to me was how the environment supports both focus and connection. There are defined spaces to get things done, but nothing feels closed off or isolating. There’s a sense that people are visible, supported, and part of something shared—whether that’s during structured programming or more informal moments of social connection.
Meeting members of the team only reinforced that impression. Everyone I interacted with was engaged, grounded, and clearly invested in the work they’re doing. It gave me confidence not just in the program itself, but in the experience clients and families would have navigating it day to day.

Came to the site to do a tour of the facility. Met the clinical director for the tour, would have given 5 stars but the front desk area was very messy and had a strange odor. This should be addressed soon since it is the first thing you see as you enter.
