Jose Zarate 2 years ago My experience at New Life Christian Retreat Center was truly memorable. The location is stunning, exuding peace and tranquility. The staff members are warm, helpful, and accommodating without being intrusive. The accommodations are cozy, and spacious. The retreat center has on-property access to the North Anna River and scenic forest trails. I was there for a women's retreat, but would suggest this site for a wedding, family reunion, or just a place to unplug and relax. If you want to get out for a daytrip, the area has plenty of historical attractions, plus the retreat center is not far from Ashland Berry Farm, Lake Anna State Park, and Kings Dominion. My group stayed on the property -- you'll understand why when you see it. Personally, I left feeling rejuvenated and uplifted after my stay at New Life Christian Retreat Center. It has really become a home to me. There is a lot of women in one home but we all manage to get along rather well. The Avalon house has been a safe , supportive, clean environment. We operate similar to the Oxford model in that we hold one another accountable. Anastasia is a hands on housing manager but she gives you the room you need to be an adult and make the decisions for your recovery that you feel are right. If you follow the rules, and prove to her that you’re trustworthy then she affords you that trust and she is understanding. I truly believe that Avalon is one of the main reasons that I’ve been successful in my recovery thus far. It’s imperative in early recovery to surround one’s self with like minded people and Avalon is absolutely a home that you will find the resources you need to grow and thrive into the person you want to be. I absolutely suggest this home to anyone that is willing to put in the work to live a sober life. It’s all about what we put into it that determines what we get out of it. The structure and supportive environment of the house, its owners and its other tenants have helped me to achieve the longest amount of sober time I've had since I first picked up a bottle. My son is a young adult and has been in the IOP for his mental health. The therapists are amazing and we have been participating in individual family therapy with Bryce as well as group family therapy with Bryce and Andre. Sparkle has been amazing in helping us when we were going through a difficult time and my son has been getting individual therapy with one of the therapists there. I can definitely say that there have been drastic changes in how we relate to one another and we are using techniques that have been suggested and are working for us. There's a few differences between them both but most of all I can tell the Care. I have had 2 Counselors which is understandable considering the work load they have. Since the begining I have been happy and impressed how easy they made my transferring. I started just where I left off at the VA.The only thing I don't agree with or understand is when getting an increase u have to pick up for 3days before getting ur tak homes. I can understand this policy when u a starting out. But it doesn't make much sense after that. I can also say when there was a problem with my pick up (ther Mistake) my councler fixed and had all my bottles in 30mins. All I can say is If u work the program it works. Shes supplies me with wonderful advice, wonderful resources and everything else a counselor should do. My panic attacks got to such a bad point that she gave me her cell phone number in case I need to message or call when I need her. FCCR RADFORD SAVED MY LIFE!!! Sarah Marie 2 years ago This is the only MAT program clinicnive ever been to but they have been amazing. If you are serious about your recovery they most definitely are going to help you. I've had a couple friends go to other clinics and from what was said FCCR is more strict and that's so important. Especially if you are serious about your recovery and do really want to better yourself and your life. The office staff is amazing there. The nurses are wonderful. I've had 3 different counselors due to 2 of them moving on to better their lives, but every counselor I have had has been wonderful. Very helpful. Easy to talk to.
