Her caseworker Annie is absolutely amazing and supportive and her psychiatrist is compassionate and extremely helpful. We were truly lost before we found this support system. The staff is organized and efficient. Registration was easy and visits are always a pleasant experience. We rarely wait and my child’s safety is a priority. I truly can not complain at all. Angel is my doctor and literally my (Angel) she's helped me learn to put myself first and that everything in life doesn't come easy but believing in myself and in God has brought me a long way. They make everything much easier and enjoyable, sometimes I have to bring my two kids so it's kid friendly, while you're getting the care you need. I understand that the main reasons behind them is basically immaturity and lack of responsibility. It's sad that some of us recovering addicts have to fall victim to bad eggs as well. We get a bad rep because some just want everything there way and don't care about rules and regulations. I could go on about the people I've had to deal with at methadone clinics over my 25 plus years on and off methadone. The one thing that I keep in my mind is that it's up to me to make the right decisions and take care of my treatment. The people that complain about the fact that you can go up and up with no one caring at the clinic is no one's fault but yours. I'm sure that at a certain dose you had to see doc to go higher. Let's be honest....you wanted to be high and you were probably doing other drugs or trying to get off of benzos and that's why you supposedly had seizures. It all goes back to the individual and his or her decision to do right. So do your research before you get off of other drugs and be honest with yourself and the staff. Maybe then you'll get the treatment you think you deserve. The entire counseling staff is amazing and really cares about each and every patient. I am a teacher and actually suffered the stroke while in front of my students. It was one of the scariest moments of my life. Fortunately, the school nurse and AP drove me to BMC. After a stint in the ER, I was moved to the ICU. My nurse, Joe, gave me hope and stayed nearby for most of the night. He even stayed beyond his 12-hour shift to make sure the transition went smoothly and moved me within the ICU so I was close to the main desk. I elected to have serious cervical surgery performed at Berkeley County Medical Center because area renowned neurosurgeon Dr. John Caruso is a neurosurgeon on staff. I'm totally satisfied with the surgeon, surgery, nurses, staff and everything else. Berkeley County Medical Center provided better care for me than any of the big city hospitals ever did. Staff cares and gets what it’s like to be an addict, and a lot of people in the program are genuinely trying to get better. The long haired cook Blue is the BEST. He was my favorite staff member while I was in there, super professional, and he makes great food. And the woman running the place is a sweetheart.
