I just want to take a moment to thank Arrowwood and their entire team. I’ve had several friends—and even family members—go through their program, and every single one of them has had nothing but great things to say. They always mention how beautiful the facility is, but more importantly, how genuinely kind, caring, and supportive the staff are on a personal level.
Thank you all for the amazing work you do—please keep it up!

I have over 3 years in recovery and through some of my most difficult times, Spero has been my saving grace. Alva K (counselor) and Val J (nurse practitioner) have been the BIGGEST blessings to my life. I ve attended several IOPs in the past and have been successful but Spero Petersburg has given me the tools I was lacking. Alva provides the BEST groups and one on ones I have ever been apart of in my 19 years of addiction. She is by far, one of the most talented and truly inspiring women I have had the pleasure of knowing. To be able to know her is a blessing. Val is a beautiful soul who continues to seek knowledge of addiction treatment daily. She will take care of you like no other doctor will ever try. You will feel entirely embraced in love and understanding as long as you are there for the RIGHT reasons. I have to agree with some past reviews, there have been lots of changes but our new case manager, Amber, is amazing. She will help you with ANYTHING you want to conquer (jobs, social services, training) Toya is also someone I can not say enough good things about. If you have a problem with medicine or appointments, she responds in good timing and truly cares. She will work with whatever issues you have going on or that pop up, no worries, Toyas got your back! The entire office is bar none. If you are in need of addiction therapy, MAT meds, call Spero!

Our family is so very thankful to Gateway and staff. They treated my daughter like family. Instilled independence and also much needed support. They are extremely dedicated and love them beyond judgment. Being an adult with some of these problems can be extremely debilitating, but they give them the opportunity to still be independent and supported. I ve been going here for 6 now. When BHG took over the old clinic, River City, there were growing pains as any company has going through a takeover. Then the pandemic happens during the takeover. Staff was leaving left & right because patients blamed them for literally EVERTHING. The patients refused to see the bigger picture and wanted to blame staff for following the pandemic rules. BHG was the only clinic in RVA excepting new patients during the pandemic because they genuinely want to SAVE LIVES! Somehow so many patients complained about so many new patients holding up lines. Anyway, with all of that being said, I ve seen staff come & go BUT THE STAFF THEY HAVE NOW IS SO CARING & want nothing but THE best for us!!! Dr. Swainey is so down to earth once you see how much he relates to us, you ll have so much respect for his compassion to help us that are stuck in this awful cycle. I could write a book on how much I ve grown to adore the staff & they ALL deserve the absolute best in life. Every single one of them have played a part in my new outlook of life and I owe that to them. <3
