Inside the medical center was great. there was a rep that called a few days before the appointment to 'register' me. They asked the SAME exact questions that the registration office did onsite. This is a waste of resources and contractor expenses for HCA with remote workers to boot. Remove the calls prior and just have the registration desk handle it as the information that was provided to the on the phone remote contractor DID NOT make it to the hospital system. The registration worker onsite confirmed this happens "ALL THE TIME". Nothing transfers from the random call we get in advance (is PII being shared outside HCA) to the hospital system.

My experience at New Life Christian Retreat Center was truly memorable. The location is stunning, exuding peace and tranquility. The staff members are warm, helpful, and accommodating without being intrusive. The accommodations are cozy, and spacious. The retreat center has on-property access to the North Anna River and scenic forest trails. I was there for a women's retreat, but would suggest this site for a wedding, family reunion, or just a place to unplug and relax. If you want to get out for a daytrip, the area has plenty of historical attractions, plus the retreat center is not far from Ashland Berry Farm, Lake Anna State Park, and Kings Dominion. My group stayed on the property -- you'll understand why when you see it. Personally, I left feeling rejuvenated and uplifted after my stay at New Life Christian Retreat Center. I have been using this clinic since 2011, and it's always been hit or miss. I typically don't have a problem getting an appointment when I need to be seen, at least not from my primary care physician. Some departments you can get an appointment quickly others not so much.
The main complaint that most people seem to have is the pharmacy, and I can agree there. It doesn't work very efficiently. It appears that they are trying to make improvements. I like the pickup lockers that they've started using, the only problem is you can't pick those unless you're doing a refill. The lockers alleviate having to wait in any lines. When I have been able to use them, I do.
As far as the clinicians and support staff go the majority of the ones that I have had to deal with have been pleasant and professional. I've had good interactions in endocrinology, gynecology, radiology, and orthopedics. When I've needed to use urgent care it's also been great. There are a few ladies in the lab that I really appreciate. I'm a hard draw and they always do it with care without hurting me or sticking me multiple times. Making an appointment for some clinics can be a challenge however, and that's because of staffing. Trying to make an appointment with gynecology is a game of telephone tag, but when you finally get together they can see you quickly. You can get appointments with endocrinology and orthopedics, but it might be months out.
I do think that the majority of the people working there are trying hard, and are helpful. I think it's a case of understaffing, and lack of funds. We all know the defense budget is pretty large, but it's definitely not going to to the clinics. I've received care at many military hospital systems over the last 40 years but this is by far the biggest most complicated area. The National Capital Region covers a large area, and tons of people; active, retired, and family members.
