The nurses are caring and the new director is extremely nice and always makes herself available for patients. Like most clinics the counselors come and go but there are several that have been there for awhile and are great. My counselor Ann is amazing! No the clinic is not perfect but they care and try. Armando Lopez 3 months ago Day 280 the excellent home geriatric doctor is awesome. The benefits are excellent. We’ve adapted and so appreciate the VA! Day 2 and not as impressed but they did fix a wrong scan order so we didn’t have to pack up and leave. Was told meds ready and not there yet. A very long day running around getting nothing done. Day 1 was very impressed with the care my 93 yr old vet fatherin-law received today. He couldn’t have asked for more. All difficulties were addressed, the nearby UVA pharmacy was super speedy and convenient. A different specialty drug through the VA pharm was free and can now be taken.. They have MDs that can come to your house. We got appts lined up a week after we called. Everyone was super awesome. The RN couldn’t been nicer. MD super thorough. A wonderful asset for veterans! We waded through another VA out of state and it was hell getting things set up and no thoroughness medically but also provided great services. We’re happy to find this easier. Thank u! They picked me up and brought me in to see a nurse and doctor. Then, set me up for more help next week! Really a wonderful experience during a crisis for me. It s hard to be positive when abuse is happening, but today Region Ten spent hours deescalating and managing my crisis issues well. It s hard to say: I was raped and in the UVA care unit, I was assaulted by 3 long relationship partners and needed shelter for emergency and care for the physical abuse. Now, my mental health is in crisis after a 7-month roommate situation turned violent. All this past trauma builds up and comes up when new abuse. I was able to get out all the bad, plan for counseling for future mental and physical care. Thank you! Your team even stayed late, and it s nice to know others in crisis can come to you. Valley helped me when I was a child and their crisis counselors letter kept me out of juvy so years later after my 8th OD I picked them as my first rehab since they helped me in the past. 1 year 11 months sober now, Everyone is kind and helpful and fufills the role they were assigned. Part of getting sober is to stop blaming all your problems on the world and others and a lot of people in these replies seem to have had a skewed view of what VCSB was supposed to do or made mistakes and blame the situation they put themselves in on this place. I say none of this to put myself above them, everyone is in different phases of there recovery and I only wish the best for every person who is involuntarily or voluntarily chosing to go here. I chose VCSB and I followed the directions to a Tbut the most important factor was chosing everyday to try an be better, if you try to be a little bit better than the day before you will do whatever you set yourself upon. Her caseworker Annie is absolutely amazing and supportive and her psychiatrist is compassionate and extremely helpful. We were truly lost before we found this support system. The staff is organized and efficient. Registration was easy and visits are always a pleasant experience. We rarely wait and my child’s safety is a priority. I truly can not complain at all. Staff cares and gets what it’s like to be an addict, and a lot of people in the program are genuinely trying to get better. The long haired cook Blue is the BEST. He was my favorite staff member while I was in there, super professional, and he makes great food. And the woman running the place is a sweetheart. The staff here care. They teach boundaries, accountability, and will show up for you. Getting clean is what you make of it. If you do the work, you’ll see results and the staff will help you every step of the way. If you fall and reach out for help, they will be there to pick you up. I’ll have a decade clean this year and I could never ever ever have done it without the support of the community here. This treatment center is a 12 step model, which has worked for me. They set you up for success with an outpatient program as well as referrals to sober living. We did chores, which helps in taking positive actions, accountability, and gaining self esteem. The groups every day are helpful, educational, and varied so as not to be boring. The AA and NA community hold meetings in their larger meeting room daily so you can’t help but get plugged in to the community. And if you are just having a bad day and no longer at the center you can pop in and there is always someone to talk to.
