I had the pleasure of working with Embark Behavioral Health at San Martin for the past year as a therapist, and it was a truly rewarding experience. The team is genuinely committed to bringing joy and healing to clients and their families. Being part of clients' recovery journey was truly fulfilling and it was a privilege to witness clients as they healed, grew, and reconnected with their loved ones.
Embark offers a comprehensive care approach, supported by a multidisciplinary team that includes residential staff, clinical therapists, a medical team, and an academic coordinator. The program provides intensive therapy, experiential activities, life skills training, and academic support, all within a nurturing, home-like environment. The team works closely together to tackle the daily challenges clients face, keeping families in the loop to ensure the best outcomes. Embark’s ongoing commitment to innovation makes a real difference in the lives of clients and their families.
As a new clinician, my time at Embark has been one of the most valuable experiences of my career. I’ve learned so much from the team through our daily interactions and the unique challenges we’ve faced together. This experience has helped me grow both personally and professionally, and I’m leaving with a deep sense of pride in the work we’ve done. I’m confident that the program is in good hands and will continue to thrive.

We took our Son to Embark San Martin and we have had great results so far. Our Son is beginning to turn around after just a few weeks in the program. The staff has been extremely professional and helpful. Right in the middle of treatment, we had problems with insurance denying benefits before our Son is ready to be discharged, and as any parent might feel, this was way beyond stressful, and scary. Throughout this challenge with insurance, all staff at Embark was amazing. They supported us, stood behind us in every way, showed concern and care for our family and our child and didn’t limit their engagement with us to their normal 8-5:00 hours. They were available every step of the way including just checking in on us to make sure we were alright as parents in an unbelievably stressful situation.
We went after multiple appeals and the insurance denial was overturned because we never gave up fighting for the rights of our child to receive appropriate treatment. Our Son continues his treatment there and he has been able to form connections and build trust that is enabling him to get the help he so deserves to receive. My husband and I are very grateful to Embark, and all of the staff, as this will change the life of our family forever.

I recently completed the 30 day Core Peogram at Elevate Addiction Services in Watsonville. After two relapses following decades of previous sobriety, I knew I could benefit from an intensive inpatient residential program to set me bsck on the right path again. I'm so grateful I found Elevate right away. The 12 Steps originally got me sober, and I have no issues with AA/NA, but Elevate is based on SMART Recovery, which is built on a different foundation from the 12 Step program. I gained new insights through the intensive workbooking and structured group sessions, as well as my time spent with my on-site therapist. There's a big emphasis on Mindfulness at Elevate, so be prepared to meditate and practice breathwork frequently. The rural location is serene, with spectacular views of the Pajaro Valley, and the wildlife is abundant. If you enjoy nature, this is a wonderful, peaceful location. The ranch-style property doesn't look or feel institutional at all. The facilities are a bit worn (it was originally built 50+ years ago as a retirement home for nuns), so if you're looking for a luxury rehab, this probably isn't the place for you. But if you could benefit from delicious meals, CrossFit and yoga, volleyball and pickleball and a well-stocked game, book and DVD library, look no further! Every single employee has gone through the program themselves, so they really understand what you're going through. Many people opt to stay on past their 60-90 day programs to train as staff members. The facilitators are caring, kind and helpful. The folks in the detox center are supportive and gentle. The security staff are strict but reasonable. Monday-Saturday, the schedule is very structured, with plenty of breaks and evening free time, and Sundays are completely free all day and night. You will be expected to do chores and follow rules. After an initial 7 day "blackout" period, clients have access during free time to shared cell phones in a common room, and once a week you have an opportunity to use your personal cell phone/laptop in a more private space. Visits from friends/family are limited, subject to pre-approval and only take place on Fridays from 3-6pm. The structure and rules are in place to help keep you focused on what you came there to do in the first place: get clean and sober! Overall, Elevate offers clients the opportunity to hit "pause" on the chaos of using and drinking, the tools to gain clarity and insight, and the strength and will to go back to living a clean and sober, productive life.

At my lowest broken point in life, Bright Future accepted me with open arms. The staff is incredible. All staff had my best interest in mind: from dealing with addiction, to personal issues, and a listening ear. The staff is also so very approachable and genuine. I look for reasons to go back to see them as often as I can just to say hello as they helped me save my life.
The house is very nice and comfortable. As a resident you have space to meditate, read, or relax. Also have very sufficient space for residents to mingle and build friendships. Prepared food throughout the week to enjoy on you own time
I highly recommend

At first I was nervous and scared. I felt rehab was like a hospital ward. Once I arrived from the intake coordinator Janet was so caring, helpful and compassionate. Gregg who drove us to center and Dr Calloway office eased my nerves. Both had a lot of good conversations. Once I got to the center. I was welcomed by my sober mate which I still keep in contact and others. My counselor Jake was amazing very informative, compassionate. All of the counselors including Cdtechs as well. I literally cried when I left I felt it was my second home. Chef Shilpa always made amazing meals that I ever had. I felt very spoiled. My time there was very structured, educational and informative. Provided the tools for me to stay on my sobriety journey. There is so much more I could express about my experience. All I can say I was very blessed, grateful for New Recovery 🙏🏼💖🙏🏼

I had been losing my battle with recovery for almost fifteen years when Wellness Retreat was recommended to me. I came here severely addicted and further traumatized by what I put myself and my family through. I needed a place where I would be treated with dignity, individually recognized for what has been ailing me and personally encouraged. This what I found here, and with a genuine compassion I have never seen or felt as an addict. There is an exceptional quality here, from checkng-in through medical treatment, group processing, education, abundance of nutrition, therapy excercise, wellness and technical assistance. With a maximum of five other clients to go through the recovery process with, the Directors of the program and even the CEO rolled up their sleeves personally caring for my recovery process. For the first time in my life since I was introduced to substances I don't hate life without them. It has been almost five months since I left wellness Retreat and I still go back on Monday afternoons to join the dance classes that gave me so much hope and happiness when I was feeling so low and dark in the beginning. Cliffside is top notch. This place will meet even the pickiest of people’s needs. The staff goes above and beyond for their clients everyday. Gretchen the staff supervisor welcomed me with open arms and saw my immediate needs were met quickly and with haste. She really cares and is great at listening and offering thoughtful solutions in the moment. She really makes things happen. Pierre is the cream of the crop, he picked me up and brought me to Horizons House and calmed all my nerves on the way in. He unpacked my clothes and hung all of them in the closet and showed me around and introduced me to the other clients. The therapist I had was more like a great friend. Jill put me at ease and an instant connection was made. She is the best of the best!! I’m going to miss Cliffside very much, I owe them everything. The program was so great and the facilitators were extremely educated and welcoming. If you come across this in your search I promise this is the place to go with. Riviera has a medication room; Pedro is very good at making sure my son takes his medication twice a day. They re-order his medication when needed and have it mailed to the facility. They have a cafeteria that cooks really hearty homestyle meals three times a day and snacks in between.
The housekeeper Susan is very aware of everyone that comes and goes. She cleans each room once a week and is like a Mom to the residents. One attendant- Elizabeth saved my son's life when she noticed he was acting strangely and followed him to his room where he had collapsed and was not breathing well. She called an ambulance.
Overall, I think that the staff are very vigilant but overworked. I think that they should hire more attendants so there is always at least 2 at a time in each house, even at night. I think it would be better if they opened a cafeteria in each home so that the residents don't have to cross the street to get to the cafeteria. Also- it would be good if they could organize hair cut visits and pedicure visits because my son will not go on his own and cannot cut his toenails by himself. The laundry is down the street so it is inconvenient for the residents to do their own laundry.

Using the VA hospital system in any city, state is not the same. I had to move around to couch surf and homeless for over ten years ending up in states between California and Florida including Washington and Utah. I have had to restart everything over every time I moved and I learned a few things over those 10 years about doctor appointments and different appointments for eyes and blood work so let me begin by saying that if you show up at 10 am and it's not busy or 1 pm and it's a mad house, either way just tell them that you are using the VA transportation and you are on a scheduled pickup and they usually move you through pretty quickly.
I can't say it's foolproof but it's a little bit of an edge for those complaining about long waiting for blood work. Just remember, don't set the bar too high of expectation, you get what you pay for, and if you don't like the VA then just pay for private health care.
Oh, they get complaints but nothing like the VA hospital system.

Los Gatos, California | Good Samaritan Hospital - Mission Oaks Campus is in Los Gatos, California. They’re a mental health and drug rehab center for adults and seniors. When you’re admitted, you’ll have several outpatient treatment options. Their main levels of care are partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs. Nice campus setting, good parking, spotless clean facility. Easy to reach, just a few minutes from 17. Very disappointed with two other facilities I was referred to during earlier years. Almost gave up on medical care. The GS Hospital is an eye opener and gave me new hope. Perfect preparation for a major surgery (chronic disease) and recovery afterwards to get back in shape. San Jose, California | Silicon Valley Recovery is a private addiction treatment center for adults in San Jose, California. They provide medical detox, residential treatment, and aftercare support. They also offer gender-separate programs and specialized programs for members of the LGBTQ+ community, and people with co-occurring addiction and mental illness. Silicon Valley | Programs Payment Options | My time at Silicon Valley Recovery (SVR) was nothing short of life changing. I know that sounds like an exaggeration, but I truly learned so much about myself and my substance abuse.
The entire team there are passionate and genuine in the care they provide to the incoming clients, I was easily able to settle in and focus on what I needed to work on. The facility feels like a comfortable home, the food is great, and I'll miss the Bevi machines. The staff make sure to work on your case (e.g., FMLA), and truly allow you to rest as you recover. The Incidental Medicine Services (IMS) staff are also extremely thoughtful and go above and beyond. Besides this, you meet a diverse group of clients (a.k.a. other people in recovery), that help you learn and grow and broaden your sober community. The therapies provided allow you an outlet for your thoughts and feelings as well as provide tools to use to better your approach to sobriety. The sampling of meetings (off site) you attend help you to see what flavors of meetings exist in the community (AA, NA,CMA, CODA). SVR also does an fantastic job with keeping in touch with alumni and coordinate in-person and virtual alumni/client meetings.
I would highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend SVR to anyone looking to work on their substance abuse recovery. SVR will always have a special place in my heart.

SVR truly changed my life. The thing that stuck out most to me was how caring and compassionate that staff was starting with the CEO, Sonja. Everyone there genuinely cares about you and does their best to help you feel comfortable and safe and accommodate whatever personal needs you have.
I did not originally come here entirely on my own (lots of external pressure) and had thoughts of leaving at first. I am beyond grateful that I didn’t.
Once I detoxed and mental clarity returned, I started to listen and engage with the program they have put together and I feel like a genuinely better person for it. Most of the staff are also in recovery themselves and that made a huge difference for me; they understand on a personal level and are beyond supportive.
By participating in the program and truly being honest with myself, I’ve reoriented my mind in how I view my relationship with
alcohol which is something I never thought would happen. I had totally given up on myself and was resigned to my addiction. SVR gives you the tools and support to change the way you think about your DOC and most importantly yourself. I feel optimistic and hopeful about my life for the first time in many years after my time there.
As far as services, I didn’t find anything lacking. All the rooms and facilities were very clean and well kept. They have an attentive 24/7 medical staff onsite, a personal chef that prepares 3 (delicious) meals a day throughout the week, gym with a pool/sauna 3 times a week, equine therapy, and weekend outings doing fun things like Top Golf, hikes, the beach, etc. They even have someone come in to give everyone haircuts every couple of weeks. You also get your cellphone during the day after 10 days, and have landlines for you to use freely whenever you want between 8am and 1030pm to stay in touch.
If you are reading this and are considering checking in yourself or a loved one, I highly, highly encourage you to do so if you have the ability to. It may be one of the hardest decisions you make in life but it will also be one of the best. Hope still exists. I thought it didn’t for me but my time here completely changed my perspective on things. Make the phone call! You will thank yourself for it.

Amazing and attentive staff, they genuinely care here and want to set you up for success. They pay attention to everyone’s individual needs while encouraging self advocacy. Great curriculum with a mix of fun and educational groups. They allowed me to crochet during group and use my ipad for art because they know the importance of being able to use hobbies as a form of recovery. Even after leaving they still check in, show support, and help in any way they can. I’ve been to multiple treatment centers and finding a place as generous and attentive as svr is rare. It’s a very small and intimate community that supports each other and I would recommend it to anyone who is on the fence about treatment, they do not force anything on you but will help guiding you in making the decisions that suit you best.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the nurses who cared for me during my hospital stay. In particular, I want to thank Hitome, Shari, and Dave from the labor and delivery unit—Hitome was incredibly attentive and thoughtful, Shari was warm-hearted and kind, and Dave, who kindly stepped in to help, gave me great support during the pushing stage. I am also very grateful to Arlene from the Mother-Baby Unit night shift, whose organized, thorough, and compassionate care made a big difference. In addition, I truly appreciate Suzane, the lactation consultant, for her professional guidance and practical advice on breastfeeding.
The excellent service from these nurses is the main reason why El Camino Hospital left me with such a positive impression. That said, I personally felt that, overall, the service level in the Mother-Baby Unit did not match the outstanding care I experienced in the labor and delivery unit—nurses like Arlene, who work efficiently and treat patients with such kindness, are unfortunately too few.

I gave birth to my second baby here and had a really good experience at the hospital. From the nurse who took me to L&D through the emergency entrance to the nurse who helped us with discharge, they were all amazing and highly competent. We were very well taken care of throughout our stay. The lactation services at the hospital are also really good. We got some fantastic support from lactation consultant & NP Cherie. The pediatrician who came to see us, Dr Sandra Lee, was very thorough and eased any concerns or questions we had. One thing to note is that the postpartum room is small. If you have visitors in your room, it may feel cramped. The beds in the postpartum room could also be more comfortable , for both the mother and partner. Overall we were happy with the care at this hospital for Labor and Delivery and I highly recommend this hospital for birth.

Janus Rehab Center has been a life-changing place for my close friend, and I can’t say enough good things about the incredible care they received.
My friend often talked about how much they appreciated the positive atmosphere and how the staff and other participants helped them feel part of a community. It was heartwarming to see them regain their confidence and discover their strength.
Thanks to Janus, my friend is happier, healthier, and more hopeful than I’ve seen them in years. I’m beyond grateful for everything Janus has done for them. I don’t often write reviews, but I can see how much this program helped them become the person they want to be in this life.

I was a patient 4x at this hospital due to instability with medicine, homelessness and illness. It was very rough for me to get adjusted due to my inability to smoke for 4-6 months. However when I did I was pleased. I was taught what close care of hygiene looks like, structured days and balanced meals, and learned what better relationships look like can be formed through advocating, asserting, and assimilating.
I needed this time to remain healthy, it could have easily been the reason I am still here. From this hospital I was granted to go to independent living, and with the skills I learned and the reasonable rent, I am a more reliable person for my family.
The staff was very sensitive to my insecurities and they sincerely invested whatever time they could to be available to speak with them. I would like to be staff as well, helping people build confidence and approach. I want to work in the mental health profession at crestwood now because after meeting many cordial guides like Tom from (phf) and fay (mhrc) both paved the way for my good faith and understanding in a more worldly way. Dr Munir was a wonderful suite for his job and very talented. Thank you again for my brighter future that I have today. Love, cody LA ROSA

I had a serious mental health crisis a couple of years ago and needed help putting the pieces back together. I found it in Embodied Recovery, as well as understanding, support and a safe, therapeutic environment where I could to begin to sift through the emotional fallout. I've been volunteering at the San Jose Women's Center for the last seven years. I'm humbled by the work God is doing within this incredible organization. I'm usually there twice a month and able to meet their students and work with the staff. In doing so, I've been able to get to know many of them. They've shared heart breaking stories of the bad habits which have nearly destroyed their lives. However, if they can survive the first few months (the hardest part of the program!) their spiritual souls are revived and they begin to live in hope with a new perspective that transforms their minds to overcome the addictions which have chained them. It's hard to explain, but each time I visit and get an update from them, I can see the power of God at work. It's what keeps bringing me back to serve so I can witness the miracles and encourage these ladies not to give up. If they can hang in there, Teen Challenge will teach them not only what they need to survive, but to thrive in a life after addiction. Every year I return to their annual Galas and am reunited with former students who update me on their successes and how grateful they are for staying the course and trusting God through the process. Our Lord has rewarded them, and often times they tell me that they thought they knew who God was when they entered, but during the course of the program they truly find Him and their life hasn't been the same since! I have no idea how the staff has the capacity to love, extend grace, share their wisdom, and encourage so many women with all that happens at this center; but it's inspiring to know that they can do it with the help of God. When I come across difficult situations in my own life, I just remember the tough love and grace of God from the Teen Challenge staff members and I try emulate the same with the people I encounter. Life in the Center isn't easy, but the year commitment to the program is worth it. I've witnessed it on a regular basis and I thank God this program exists to help those overcoming addictions, and for those of us who want to volunteer and make the world a better place. It takes faith and discipline to succeed, but Teen Challenge has the love and patience to see you through. I highly recommend this organization over many of the other rehab places who have a far less success rate.
