I had the pleasure of working with Embark Behavioral Health at San Martin for the past year as a therapist, and it was a truly rewarding experience. The team is genuinely committed to bringing joy and healing to clients and their families. Being part of clients' recovery journey was truly fulfilling and it was a privilege to witness clients as they healed, grew, and reconnected with their loved ones. Embark offers a comprehensive care approach, supported by a multidisciplinary team that includes residential staff, clinical therapists, a medical team, and an academic coordinator. The program provides intensive therapy, experiential activities, life skills training, and academic support, all within a nurturing, home-like environment. The team works closely together to tackle the daily challenges clients face, keeping families in the loop to ensure the best outcomes. Embark’s ongoing commitment to innovation makes a real difference in the lives of clients and their families. As a new clinician, my time at Embark has been one of the most valuable experiences of my career. I’ve learned so much from the team through our daily interactions and the unique challenges we’ve faced together. This experience has helped me grow both personally and professionally, and I’m leaving with a deep sense of pride in the work we’ve done. I’m confident that the program is in good hands and will continue to thrive.

We took our Son to Embark San Martin and we have had great results so far. Our Son is beginning to turn around after just a few weeks in the program. The staff has been extremely professional and helpful. Right in the middle of treatment, we had problems with insurance denying benefits before our Son is ready to be discharged, and as any parent might feel, this was way beyond stressful, and scary. Throughout this challenge with insurance, all staff at Embark was amazing. They supported us, stood behind us in every way, showed concern and care for our family and our child and didn’t limit their engagement with us to their normal 8-5:00 hours. They were available every step of the way including just checking in on us to make sure we were alright as parents in an unbelievably stressful situation. We went after multiple appeals and the insurance denial was overturned because we never gave up fighting for the rights of our child to receive appropriate treatment. Our Son continues his treatment there and he has been able to form connections and build trust that is enabling him to get the help he so deserves to receive. My husband and I are very grateful to Embark, and all of the staff, as this will change the life of our family forever.

Wellness Recovery Retreat Center (WRRC) Review I am beyond grateful for my time at WRRC. The staff here truly cares, and that makes all the difference. Their passion, kindness, and dedication create a safe, healing, and supportive environment. Lindsey Singleton, Program Director – You’ve built a team of winners! Everyone here loves what they do, and it shows. Your dog, Xara, is a magical member of this family, and I’m so happy she became my friend. Caitlin Draper, Therapist – Your insight and patience helped me grow. Thank you for your guidance and for the feedback on my baking skills—it gave me new confidence! Aaron Lieben, Intern Therapist – You genuinely care about the clients. Keep soaking up everything from Caitlin—you’re learning from one of the best! Nikki Geranios, Program Manager – Your hard work behind the scenes does not go unnoticed! You deeply care about recovery, and I appreciate you (and your adorable dog, Oscar!). Michaella Lee, Case Manager – Michaella, you are an absolute angel. Your kindness, patience, and support made all the difference in my time here. You truly make people feel seen and valued, and I’ll always be grateful. Anyone who crosses paths with you is lucky. Also, I only got to meet your beautiful dog, Papa, once, but I’m looking forward to another opportunity to hang out with him when I come back to visit in May! ❤️ Kritika Kailash, Case Manager – I wish we had more time to connect! I hope your grandma and family are doing well. David Pavkovich, Technician – Your goofiness and humor always brought a smile, even in deep personal work. That’s a gift. Rita, Technician & Weekend Chef – I’ll miss our playful banter (even if it confused others)! You always made WRRC feel like home. Charisse, Technician – I appreciate your insight and experience. Our drives to meetings and recovery talks were always meaningful. Suzie Baxter, Technician – I’ll miss our late-night and early-morning talks! You’re the best cat mom ever, and I hope to see pics of your cats someday. Gerry, Facility Manager – Our talks about Kona, family, and recovery were great, and your breakfasts were next level! That ham frittata was amazing! Gina Garcia, World Dance Instructor – Your dance classes were always fun—sometimes easy, sometimes a challenge, but always uplifting! Audrey, Fitness Coach – I admire your dedication! Your workouts were perfectly balanced—not too easy, not too hard, but I felt them for days! August Materazzi, Chef – Your food is healthy, delicious, and well-planned for every dietary need (including my dislike of mushrooms!). You’re a fantastic chef. Gary Johnson, Engineer – We all appreciate your hard work around the house. Hope to run into you in Hawai‘i someday! You should definitely visit Volcanoes National Park again. Cheree Ashley, WRRC Owner Thank you for helping me get to WRRC! Even though I planned on Avila Heights, I’m so grateful for this experience. Congratulations on adding WRRC to your program portfolio! I have to say—I’m extremely impressed with the team here. The staff is outstanding, and I hope you can give them all raises soon because they truly deserve it. They are some of the most dedicated professionals in the field. To Those Seeking Recovery: WRRC isn’t just a treatment center—it’s a family. The staff loves what they do, and that makes the experience 100x better. Their kindness, patience, and dedication create an environment where you feel truly cared for. If you need a place to heal, this is it. Leaving is bittersweet, but I do so with immense gratitude. Thank you, WRRC, for giving me the tools, strength, and hope to move forward. I will always hold this place close to my heart. Mahalo nui loa, Justin G. ☮️❤️🤙🏼

I had been losing my battle with recovery for almost fifteen years when Wellness Retreat was recommended to me. I came here severely addicted and further traumatized by what I put myself and my family through. I needed a place where I would be treated with dignity, individually recognized for what has been ailing me and personally encouraged. This what I found here, and with a genuine compassion I have never seen or felt as an addict. There is an exceptional quality here, from checkng-in through medical treatment, group processing, education, abundance of nutrition, therapy excercise, wellness and technical assistance. With a maximum of five other clients to go through the recovery process with, the Directors of the program and even the CEO rolled up their sleeves personally caring for my recovery process. For the first time in my life since I was introduced to substances I don't hate life without them. It has been almost five months since I left wellness Retreat and I still go back on Monday afternoons to join the dance classes that gave me so much hope and happiness when I was feeling so low and dark in the beginning. This is more than a Rehab, this is a Wellness Center. If you want a life worth living without drugs and alcohol, start here.

This was my very first time seeking VA health service, and I was so impressed with everyone's professionalism. At first, the receptionist told me that I canceled my own appointment; which was rather weird; but we quickly resolved the issue, and I was seen in the optometry department. The doctors were thorough in their examinations, and optical sales rep Tooba was very informational and very helpful. I can't believe I was paying so much for eye care elsewhere. Thank you all

Using the VA hospital system in any city, state is not the same. I had to move around to couch surf and homeless for over ten years ending up in states between California and Florida including Washington and Utah. I have had to restart everything over every time I moved and I learned a few things over those 10 years about doctor appointments and different appointments for eyes and blood work so let me begin by saying that if you show up at 10 am and it's not busy or 1 pm and it's a mad house, either way just tell them that you are using the VA transportation and you are on a scheduled pickup and they usually move you through pretty quickly. I can't say it's foolproof but it's a little bit of an edge for those complaining about long waiting for blood work. Just remember, don't set the bar too high of expectation, you get what you pay for, and if you don't like the VA then just pay for private health care. Oh, they get complaints but nothing like the VA hospital system.

I want to give a huge thank you to Silicon Valley Recovery for all the help, support, and healing I received while I was in treatment. My therapist, Nick, was incredible—he truly helped me do the internal work I needed on a personal level. I’m also grateful to my counselor, Joaquin, and to Joaquin and Sam for helping me with all of my legal and DMV issues during my stay. English is my second language, and sometimes I felt a little intimidated—especially when my English felt broken—but everyone there was so supportive. They made me feel at home, accepted, and confident. That meant so much to me. During my time at SVR, I grew a lot as an individual. They helped me build a new way of life, and recovery has shown me how amazing life can be. I’m truly grateful for that. You can really feel the dedication and compassion from everyone at SVR. The love and care they show each client is something special, and it made a huge difference in my experience. The program itself is amazing—I enjoyed every activity, every outing, and every meeting. A big shout-out to housekeeping, the chef, the technicians, the facilitators, the medical staff, the nurses, John, Sonia, and everyone else who works so hard behind the scenes. Thank you for everything you do. This place truly made a positive impact on my life. I’m looking forward to continuing to be part of my SVR family through the alumni program.

I don’t even know where to begin — Silicon Valley Recovery Center changed my life. I arrived here broken, scared, exhausted, and unsure of where to turn next. From the moment I walked in, the entire team accepted me with open arms. They met every need I had, without hesitation or judgment. They didn’t just give me treatment — they gave me safety, dignity, and hope. As a member of the LGBTQ community and an African-American man, I am always mindful of where I seek support. Not once did I feel judged, misunderstood, or discriminated against here. I felt respected, valued, and seen. That alone is priceless. They also welcomed my dog, Asher — which was non-negotiable for me. Not only did they accept him, they loved him, accommodated him, and made sure he had everything he needed. They even went above and beyond and drove me more than an hour away to tour safe housing options for after treatment. That level of compassion and effort is rare. The programming here is incredible — thoughtful, structured, intentional, and truly life-changing. The therapists, counselors, case managers, medical team, and staff are some of the most genuine humans I’ve ever met. The food is amazing, the amenities are comfortable, and the environment feels like a community, not a facility. I came here lost and overwhelmed. I’m leaving grounded, clear, hopeful, and excited for the future. I will forever be grateful for what this place has done for me, and I mean that with my whole heart. If you are looking for a place to heal — a place that treats you like a human being, not a number — this is where you need to be. Silicon Valley Recovery Center saved my life, and I would recommend it to anyone. If they ever need someone to share a testimonial, speak to potential clients, or represent the program publicly, I’m their guy — that’s how deeply I believe in this place. My dream is to come back one day and work here so I can give back even a fraction of what they gave me. Thank you, SVRC — for everything. I am forever grateful.

I've been volunteering at the San Jose Women's Center for the last seven years. I'm humbled by the work God is doing within this incredible organization. I'm usually there twice a month and able to meet their students and work with the staff. In doing so, I've been able to get to know many of them. They've shared heart breaking stories of the bad habits which have nearly destroyed their lives. However, if they can survive the first few months (the hardest part of the program!) their spiritual souls are revived and they begin to live in hope with a new perspective that transforms their minds to overcome the addictions which have chained them. It's hard to explain, but each time I visit and get an update from them, I can see the power of God at work. It's what keeps bringing me back to serve so I can witness the miracles and encourage these ladies not to give up. If they can hang in there, Teen Challenge will teach them not only what they need to survive, but to thrive in a life after addiction. Every year I return to their annual Galas and am reunited with former students who update me on their successes and how grateful they are for staying the course and trusting God through the process. Our Lord has rewarded them, and often times they tell me that they thought they knew who God was when they entered, but during the course of the program they truly find Him and their life hasn't been the same since! I have no idea how the staff has the capacity to love, extend grace, share their wisdom, and encourage so many women with all that happens at this center; but it's inspiring to know that they can do it with the help of God. When I come across difficult situations in my own life, I just remember the tough love and grace of God from the Teen Challenge staff members and I try emulate the same with the people I encounter. Life in the Center isn't easy, but the year commitment to the program is worth it. I've witnessed it on a regular basis and I thank God this program exists to help those overcoming addictions, and for those of us who want to volunteer and make the world a better place. It takes faith and discipline to succeed, but Teen Challenge has the love and patience to see you through. I highly recommend this organization over many of the other rehab places who have a far less success rate.

I've read a few reviews that had some incorrect information for people reading. I have been there for 1 year. Someone said they lower your does if you miss a day and kicked out after 3 no-shows. If you miss 3 your dose gets lowered not for 1 day and you are nowhere near kicked out for 3. I would have been booted way back. Also someone said you can't start same day. May be true but you can in 2. As far as making it there by 12:30. I don't make it every day but you can if you want to . It's not that hard. I've been to clinics like that though and it's tough. Dirty uas do not lower your dose either. Not even. I gave it 5 stars for the people working there It's a clinic so as I give it 3 stars but the people are cool.

I've been going there as a patient and even worked there off and on since it was named "Triad" back in the late 90s and it's a great clinic for MMT/MAT. At times it's definitely been less than perfect, particularly in the past (2003 to 2005). But since Janus has taken over they're far more consistent and reliable now. Counselors can be a mixed bag, but that's true anywhere and the vast majority of the time they're great. It's a good program, you just have to be willing to work it. Do that and you have a very high chance that you'll succeed.

This is my third rehab experience and I stayed 6 weeks. I was very grateful to be able to get a bed quickly (the very next day). This is not a resort or a vacation, it's a rehab. You won't find a spa or masseuse here, but you will find a safe and supportive environment to work on yourself. The staff was helpful and kind, but of course they are humans too. The main counselor was very helpful and intuitive - she was able to pinpoint what some of my personal issues to focus on were. Overall, I would recommend this facility to anyone who is serious about working on themselves. Other facilities might have more amenities, more people, etc. but I found that having less external distractions helped me get a lot more out of my time here. Update 3 years later: still doing well, and still using the knowledge I gained here.

Castlerock Recovery offers a comprehensive and compassionate approach to rehabilitation, making it a noteworthy option for those seeking help with addiction. The facility is well-maintained and provides a warm, welcoming atmosphere that immediately puts clients at ease. One of the standout features of Castlerock is its highly trained staff, who are not only professionals in their fields but also demonstrate genuine care for each individual's journey. The personalized treatment plans are tailored to meet the specific needs of clients, which enhances the effectiveness of the recovery process. The variety of therapy options is impressive, including group sessions, individual counseling, and holistic therapies. This well-rounded approach addresses not just the physical aspects of addiction but also the emotional and psychological components, promoting a more complete healing process. Additionally, the program emphasizes community and support, encouraging clients to build connections with one another. This sense of camaraderie can be incredibly beneficial, as it fosters understanding and shared experiences among participants. While the cost may be a consideration for some, many clients have reported that the value of the care they receive significantly outweighs the expense. Overall, Castlerock Recovery is a commendable choice for anyone looking for a supportive and effective environment to overcome addiction.

Been coming here for a long, long time Through my recovery I have had many counselors some better than others funny how things happen my husband transferred to Medmark from BAART in Oakland crazy we both ended up on Rich’s case load { R.I.P. RICH another great counselor } so you know we both can’t have the same counselors so of course I got kicked to the curb. Best curb I got kicked to { so to speak. } which is currently Nicole Martinez, the best I’ve ever had , She definitely help me get to where I am now she goes above and beyond helped me in my life so much, I don’t even know what I’m gonna do when we goes our separate ways 😔..I wish I can take her with me. I wish I can give her 20 ⭐️’s but was only given an option of 5 ⭐️. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tranquility Rehab is a residential rehab for men with drug and alcohol addiction in Castro Valley, California. The gender specific model is actually an important part of their approach. I was truly amazed by this place!!! The extent my case manager went through to find me after care humbled me. He tried for hours and would not give up. And I do mean hours. The staff was really caring and it transcended to the clients. It felt like a family here. I laughed so much here but also learned so much. The counselors really got out of their way here. Their sense of humor was so appreciated specially when you come in feeling so down. They included everyone and were really informative. They even invited me to be involved in their spirituality groups that opened my eyes to a different world I knew nothing about. I felt a part of. It's not my first time I've been in rehab and I would highly recommend this place.

I experienced excellent treatment at El Camino Health. My surgeon and her staff provided superb care in my pre-op appointments, the quadruple bypass surgery and after visits. The hospital provided equal care in my treatment during my surgery and stay. All services were easy to set up & all testing was completed quickly. Post surgery staff were helpful in making my stay as comfortable as possible. I also owe a lot to the staff for getting me up and moving, which helped in my progress to health!
