Accepted Insurance

Brynn Marr Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient

Clients receiving treatment at an inpatient rehab facility are typically in early recovery or are at heightened risk of relapse. Clients in inpatient care remain at the facility for the duration of their program, enabling them to focus solely on their recovery. Inpatient treatment typically involves extensive psychotherapy, often including group and family counseling as well as one-on-one sessions. Recovery-focused life skills education is another common service. Many rehabs also offer evidence-based holistic therapies.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Rehab aftercare programs offer a complete continuum of care for clients in the maintenance phase of recovery and are predicated on the idea that addiction disease is a chronic condition prone to relapse and warranting continuing care. Clients collaborate with their care team and case manager to access the specific rehab aftercare services they need to promote their sustained sobriety. Peer coaching, relapse prevention services, career counseling, and 12 step program induction are common in these programs.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

Individuals in early recovery often require 24-hour clinical care in North Carolina. This supervised care typically includes medications to treat specific withdrawal symptoms, which vary based on the substance abused. For example, staff may provide sleep aids to treat insomnia in patients who are addicted to marijuana. For those overcoming a cocaine use disorder, anti-depressants may be prescribed to manage mood swings. Other medications may also be provided to treat addiction-related health issues.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

equine-therapy iconEquine Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy helps you reclaim your life after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. Therapists help to process these memories, which promotes emotional healing and reduces anxiety in social situations. This improves your overall well being and increases your self confidence.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

During nutrition therapy in North Carolina, you'll work with a nutritionist to develop a dietary plan. Medical professionals will provide input based on your health needs. You'll learn to create goals for nutrition and develop the skills you need to meet them.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

They need to have more group therapy instead of putting us in our rooms during lock down (a patient outburst). Or sticking us in front of the television all day. And, the snacks are terrible for you. Nothing but sugar and fat. And, when a patient tells you to look up their medications on Walmart pharmacy, do it! I was on Lamictal 300mg ER and because they didn’t give me my psych meds for several days, I’m having to start over with 25mg. They were giving me antipsychotics that were discontinued by my Dr.

I had to come back and write another review because this place has me extremely bothered. It’s been a little over a year since I was a patient here and I STILL am so frustrated with this place. More specifically the NP that told me I either needed to take an antidepressant or I needed more counseling when I’ve been dealing with mental illness for 20 years. I had told her every antidepressant I’ve ever taken had made me suicidal as well as homicidal among other things and she still tried to push it on me. They get mad when you’re able to advocate for yourself and when you refuse something you know will absolutely not help you but make you worse. I thought all doctors and nurses knew anyone with bipolar disorder majority of the time don’t do well with antidepressants especially when they’re not on any type of mood stabilizer. Silly of me to think these people at this place know how to do their job. I continue to have nightmares about this place. I was STUCK here feeling unsafe and like no one cared. There was one patient that was violent trying to fight staff, slamming doors, walking around naked, wiping poop all over stuff. There was another one that I roomed with that continuously stared me down and tried to come in the bathroom with me many times. I’ve unfortunately been a patient at another psychiatric hospital and if it weren’t for that experience, I would never trust anyone enough to go to another one. I would just do what I felt like I needed to do instead of reaching out for help. I hope by now y’all have made some changes. Just because people have mental health issues doesn’t mean they aren’t still people. They should be treated with dignity and compassion as well as respect. Believe them when they tell you something. You DO NOT know it all. I don’t care how long you’ve been an NP or whatever. Everyone is different and should be treated as such. I will be trying to get ahold of my records so I can file complaints with whomever I need to. It really bothers me to think of anyone else having to deal with what I did in this place.

I was a patient recently at Brynn Marr. The current rating is NOT representative of my experience. My experience was a 5 star experience. The staff, with only one exception, was phenomenal. Caring, compassionate, patient, knowledgeable, accommodating, I could go on and on. I want to highlight Jessica, Robert, Terry(sp?), Christina, Sarah, ABBY, Nicole, and so many others whose names I cannot recall at this moment. And Erica at the front, who made a very scary experience livable in that moment. The only complaint I have about my stay is the food. It isn't great, and they don't provide options for people with sensory sensitivities. Literally my only complaint for the bulk of my stay. I had one rough night due to a cranky staff member but once I said something I never saw that individual again. Mr. Craig, the manager is firm but approachable. This is a well run facility with a caring staff. Any complaints are probably made by those who are just not ready to accept or believe they need help. Or don't have patience for the time it takes for things to get processed. Do not hesitate to seek this place out if you need help. They will honestly do their best to help you, you just have to be ready. ******* Update. Post release is shit. I've called multiple times and left messages to be set up for care locally. It's been two months and I never got a call back or set up with care. When I called AGAIN, I was told I WAS THE PROBLEM! No one told me the process of setting up care after release and never bothered to call and inform me. Just left me waiting. When I said that was unacceptable I got extreme attitude. I've been without care for two months and they expect ME to know what forms to fill out to get it? When no one bothered to tell me?!?! No return phone calls, nothing. I hope the horrible woman I spoke to has a loved one go thru the same thing. Let them go without care, let them go days without sleep. See how you like it. Avoid at ALL costs if you are on the spectrum. They WILL NOT HELP YOU AT ALL.

I got released on Wednesday I believe and it was absolutely horrible some girl grabbed my leg because I didn't want to date her and literally tried to throw it as if it were object not on my body all because I didn't want to date her and we were in the children's unit and I remember like three children going to the bathroom before me I was threatening to literally pee on the floor because I had to pee so bad and it took them so long for them to give me pads I was using their filthy toilet paper to keep my blood not leaking through my pants and I had shared with my doctor A coping skill it was literally just for me to take a 5-minute cold shower just so I could calm myself down and she refused to let me do so and I had to use a tampon mind you I'm an 11-year-old child by the way the only thing I really loved there was three kids that were my friends and a staff member who we would call Miss koala bear they leave your door open in the middle of the night so they can check up on you and they don't even turn the lights off in the hallway and there was so many pick me staff members there there was one talking to the boys about how much she wanted an espresso and I had fallen off my bed and I had literally whispered shouted ow because it hurt and she comes into my room and slams the door shut when you're supposed to keep them open and I hear her say something about me being ignorant now I know that I was just complaining about the doors being open at night but I'm saying you could at least dim the lights in the hallway at least a little bit and not to mention how the staff don't really pay attention there are some good stuff like that Miss koala person I was just talking about but there was a lactose intolerant girl and she kept trying to get milk so it should have been in the notes that she shouldn't be allowed to have milk and that she keeps trying to get it in one of the staff members didn't even care to read it and gave her milk and she drank the whole carton also some of the food there is stale they would give us some crackers for snack time or whatever and they would be chewy so I look at the date one of them had expired in 2024 October I don't know why it wasn't already given away to someone or thrown away and when we were in the actual hospital my mom had specifically told the doctor she does not want me in Jacksonville and that she would rather have me in Greenville and they still did not let her choose which facility I went to I would give it negative Stars if I could I watched a girl get pinned down by at least eight staff members and she was acting a fool and they still didn't give her shots but they gave some little boy some shots just for yelling because the same thing about the bathroom had happened to him they didn't let him go to the bathroom I also watched a girl sneak her hairbrush out and she was picking at it to make a shank and she held it to her neck and threatened to kill herself in front of me when the staff walks out and I try to tell the staff and it just gets swept under the rug in all this is coming from just a week of me staying there and they don't even give you real help matter of fact it just probably adds more trauma you talk to someone over an iPad screen do you want to call that real therapy it's not and this might be the last thing I don't know but I have so much stuff to say about this hospital not all the stuff but some of the staff need to pay more attention to who they're taken care of because some girl had ran out in the hallway like she was able to get through the door and started beating up a girl for no reason it was some girl from 2 East and she was beating up this girl from 3 West
