This is my primary care medicine home. I love the people here and I have been coming here for over ten years. The doctors and nurse practitioners are great and the nurses are very helpful. They have someone to do the lab work on site, so that is very helpful. You rarely have to wait long to be seen once you get there and they offer plenty of resources if you need them. Their referral department is fast and helpful as well. Over all I feel very fortunate to have them as my medical care facility.

I have struggled with alcohol abuse for the last three years and this was the ONE place out of 23 treatment centers that finally worked. Nobody ever thought they would see me sober, but today I can say I am, thanks to Sober Life. I was a frequent relapser, just barely making it by, and when I decided to seek treatment through Sober Life a whole new world opened for me. The team at Sober Life cares. I felt valued, I felt empowered, understood and heard. After being in and out of so many treatment centers I found myself fatigued, but through my process with Sober Life I actually wanted to continue my program as long as I could. I WANTED to be there and I've learned a life I never knew possible thanks to the team there. I can say that this program likely saved my life, and showed me a new life that I could never have imagined. The support and understanding was beyond belief. I felt so safe there. I've made friendships with a lot of my peers from groups as well. Which I never wanted to do before. Recovery can be difficult to begin, scary to start, but Sober Life feels SAFE. I'm not the type to write reviews, but I know how hard I struggled and for anyone reading this or questioning a start, I highly recommend this team. I am eternally grateful for my experience there.

Sober life has been one of the best experiences in my life! I came in not really sure what I wanted out of treatment and scared to really connect with people and have them see me in my weaker moments. All of the staff at sober life loved me through these issues and helped me get to a place where I felt safe and comfortable enough to communicate what was really going on with me, and gave me the tools I needed to be able to deal with things as they came up on a daily basis. Anytime I was a little off or lost any amount of momentum, they noticed immediately and did whatever they could to make sure I continued my progress and that even though addiction is a lonely disease, it became a lot easier to believe I wasnt alone and recovery is possible. It wasn't complicated at all, they handle the insurance stuff for you so you can focus and prioritize your recovery over anything else. Kimberly, Dan, Ashley, and Kelley have all been huge grounding stones in my recovery, showing up every time and helping me make solutions out of chaos. Having all of these amazing, kind, and extremely dependable people in my life has kept me steady and also taught me what having people around who genuinely love you, want the best for you, and who celebrate your achievements and help you through your downfalls looks like. Like any recovery program, you have to want it and put in your own effort, but they make the weight just lighter enough that it seems much more attainable.

My experience at Restore was genuinely meaningful. From the moment I arrived, I was treated with dignity, compassion, and respect during a time I needed all three. Everyone I interacted with made an effort to understand me as a person, not just someone going through a difficult chapter. I felt supported without feeling judged, and cared for without feeling like I had lost my independence. The environment was comfortable, private, and much more welcoming than I expected from a detox and recovery center. The combination of care, structure, support, and genuine human connection gave me the space I needed to ground myself and think clearly about what I wanted to do moving forward. Restore and the people there had a real impact on me, and I left feeling stronger and more hopeful than when I walked through the doors. I would absolutely recommend Restore. Asking for help can be one of the hardest decisions someone makes. I’m grateful Restore was there when I made mine.

So what do I say about Steven and Restore Detox Centers? When I entered through the doors of this facility, I was a completely defeated and tormented soul as a result of the ravages of addiction. I had arrived at the end of myself! All my own ideas about how to live my life had failed me, but THIS is precisely where the LIGHT stepped in and met me; in the total darkness of my own demolition, destruction, degeneration, degradation and demoralization. I was hopeless! I didn't believe that I could recover from this seemingly hopeless state of mind and body and like the song by America, "Lonely People" states, I believed that "life had passed me by." Well, here I am some time later, and I can HONESTLY share with you, from the very Top of my heart, that my life is indescribably wonderful now. My seconds and minutes and hours of each day were filled with torment and dread! Now, they have been replaced with enthusiastically looking forward to seeing the wonderful friends that I have made, the smiles and hugs that I am greeted with, and the super cool testimonies that I get to continuosly hear! I was asked to take some simple steps (12), not easy but simple, and I was told that I didn't even have to believe. I just had to take these simple actions and they would result in an experience that would prove their effectiveness. If you're in a place of abject bewilderment and confusion and you have come to the end of yourself, please know that a new You is waiting to emerge; a new, Regenerated, Rejuvenated, RESTORED, and Reconciled (to Self, Family, Friends and God) version of You is waiting to be born! And an acutely wonderful place to begin this journey is with Steven and his kind, caring, warm and empathetic staff at Restore Detox Centers. "Don't give up until you drink from the Silver cup and ride that Highway in the Sky!" Let the journey begin!

When my son experienced a relapse, he was only at this facility for a couple of days, but those three days left a lasting impression on our family. From the very beginning, Steven treated both my son and us with genuine compassion, honesty, and respect. He didn't offer false promises or sugarcoat the challenges of recovery, but he also never lost sight of our son as a person who deserved hope and dignity. It was clear that he truly cared—not just about getting someone through detox, but about helping them find a path to lasting recovery. As a parent, feeling understood and supported during such a difficult time meant more than I can express. I am deeply grateful for the kindness, professionalism, and authentic concern we experienced. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility to anyone looking for a place where people are treated with both compassion and accountability.

My father has been attending this recovery place. Watching someone you love struggle is one of the most painful experiences life can offer. My father’s journey with addiction affected not only him, but our entire family. This rehab gave my dad a chance to step away from the chaos and begin to face the pain that fueled his addiction. This place has treated him greatly and I'll be forever grateful for what they have done. Since entering the program a few months ago, he has begun the hard work of healing. I finally feel like I have my dad back and could not be more thankful for the staff and everyone else included, truly. I HIGHLY recommend this place for someone and/or a family member struggling with addiction.

Life-Changing Experience at Pacific Bay Recovery Center As a mom, choosing a rehab for my son was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. After researching countless facilities in San Diego, we decided on Pacific Bay Recovery Center, and I can confidently say it was the best decision we ever made. Pacific Bay didn’t just help my son recover—they saved his life. From the very beginning, they treated him like family. The care and compassion from every staff member, from the therapist and psychiatrist to the case managers, were unparalleled. They didn’t just see my son as another patient; they truly invested in his well-being and future. The individualized attention he received made all the difference. The therapists were deeply insightful, helping him understand and address the root causes of his struggles. The psychiatrist provided thoughtful, expert guidance, and the case managers were a source of constant support, ensuring he stayed on track every step of the way. Beyond the clinical care, the atmosphere at Pacific Bay is warm and welcoming—a safe haven for anyone seeking to rebuild their life. They created a nurturing environment where my son felt seen, heard, and valued. Today, my son is thriving, and it’s all thanks to the dedicated team at Pacific Bay. I am forever grateful to them for giving me my son back and helping him rediscover hope, purpose, and joy. If you’re looking for a place that goes above and beyond to treat your loved one with the care they deserve, I cannot recommend Pacific Bay Recovery Center highly enough.

I cannot express my gratitude enough to everyone at Jackson House. Before I got there I was experiencing homelessness, suffering from addiction and struggling with mental health. I had nowhere to turn for help. It was during a doctor’s appointment where I was trying to figure out a place to live and how to get help for my mental health and addiction issues that Jackson House reached out to me. Within hours the staff put together everything I needed. They were able to get me a bed the very next morning so I could get off the streets and finally start attending to a problem that was making it impossible to manage my life. Even though I was scared and nervous, from the very first phone call to the very last day they made me feel welcomed and supported. Theirs is a judgment free care. I could feel the devotion and care they showed me and everyone else. The entire staff cares so much about the people that come through their program. From the PCS’s (Monica, Jose, Joanna, Cassandra, Rohan (congrats on the baby!!) Caitlyn, Stephanie, Sabrina and all the rest) to the nurses (Bill, Teresa, Iana, the whole nursing team that took care of me,) the discharge planners (thank you Brad and Aurea for setting me up with the aftercare I needed and for reassuring me when I was nervous to leave Jackson House,) Brittany, Kennedy and Kade (absolute angels) and the cooks (Anthony and especially my homegirl Chef Chanel 🙏🏻 bless you for making me fat during my recovery 🫶🏻.) But there are two people I need to give a special thank you too. Andrew, one of the group facilitators, and my counselor Robert. Being a gay man who has struggled with acceptance from within the LGBTQIA+ community and outside it, having these two men there to hold my hand, to show me that it’s ok, to let me know that I’m not alone, and who made me feel so safe and helped me start to feel ok in my own skin was life saving for me. Andrew is the type of facilitator who will pull you towards recovery because he can sense when you need help and lets you know it’s ok to speak it. Robert is the type of counselor who makes you feel comfortable every time he facilitates or during one of his individual sessions with you. After my first group with both of them they checked on me everyday. They talked to me, they asked me how I was doing, they held me accountable, they gave me advice and they made me laugh. It might sound like a cliche but I truly never felt more seen by two individuals. Thank you to everyone at Jackson House. I am here. I am alive. I have a home. And I am continuing on the path to recovery thanks to you all of and what you ALL taught me. I will never forget it.

I graduated from Crossroads 20 years ago. The program consisted of groups,meeting and chores. We were not allowed to go to our rooms during the day to rest. The weekends we did house chores all day, taking everything out of kitchen cabinets etc. or on weekends we had an all day garage sale, not able to rest all days and weekends.At the time I didn't stay sober. Now I have been clean and sober 3 years I am 66 yrs. Old. I remember often of the hard program Crossroads was. Yet, thank God I had a place to live sober. The Jane Westin Center is slow as hell, yes. HOWEVER once you are seen, the care is second to none. The counselors, doctors, psychiatrists, nurses and even front desk staff treat you like you matter. They treat you like they care about you and are concerned for your well being. They also insist upon going above and beyond to help you. They offered me help I didn’t even come in for… which I needed. I can not thank the staff enough for being so gregarious and thoughtful. You made me safe and cared for just when I needed it most.

One of the safestplaces I’ve been to for services meaning I didn’t feel uncomfortable disrespected, that I was the problem of my situation, that I was judged by what I’ve done like other clinics have been unfortunately. Every one of the staff members..Each of their was either respectful,, helpful, or so kind.😀 Be prepared for the the usual..;

All nurses and doctor was really nice, had an intense migraine 5 days straight, on sixth day I started to vomit, and I straight came here. The whole migraine reason I got is, probably a mixture of things, driving to Yosemite national park for 3 full days, not drinking enough water, hot day, the whole day I would spend in water and under the sun. The last day I jumped in the water, it was cloudy, I jumped from swinging bridge picnic area, I’m assuming it was at least 8ft tall from the river. I jumped at least 6 to 8 times and I literally thought that I would die, once we headed towards our Airbnb, that’s when the headache started. Thank goodness because of this crews at the Grossmont sharp hospital that I am well now.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I was a patient at Sharp Grossmont Hospital for almost two weeks, from the end of July 2025 through the beginning of August 2025. Despite everything I was going through, the care I received was outstanding. The doctors, nurses, and every staff member I interacted with treated me with kindness, compassion, and professionalism. They always took the time to answer my questions, made sure I was comfortable, and truly cared about my recovery. The hospital itself was always very clean, and I noticed the staff constantly cleaning and sanitizing the rooms and common areas. After my surgery, I spent about 24 hours in the ASU. The nurses there were absolutely amazing. I especially remember Nolan and the rest of the team. They were by my side the entire time, constantly checking on me, making sure I was comfortable, managing my pain, and helping me feel safe during one of the hardest moments of my life. Their kindness and compassion meant more to me than they will probably ever realize. Because I was recovering from major lung surgery, I requested a larger room since my original room felt too small, especially when I had a few visitors. With my lung condition at the time, I felt like I needed more space. The staff accommodated my request, and I really appreciated their understanding. After I was transferred, my wife found a louse on the guest sleeping bad while changing the sheets. It was definitely upsetting, but I don’t believe it reflected the hospital’s cleanliness. Throughout my stay, I saw the hospital staff cleaning and sanitizing everything every day, so I truly believe it was an isolated incident rather than a sanitation issue. I also want to compliment the food service. For a hospital, the meals were surprisingly good, and the food service team did an excellent job throughout my stay. Most importantly, I want to sincerely thank Dr. Ara S. Klijian, who performed my lung surgery. He did an incredible job. A year later, I feel normal again and have been able to get back to living my life. I will always be grateful for his skill, dedication, and the outstanding care he provided. Overall, I gladly give Sharp Grossmont Hospital five stars. The compassion, professionalism, and quality of care I received made a very difficult time much easier, and I truly appreciate everyone who helped me through my recovery. Thank you to the entire team for taking such great care of me.

JOSE, PETE, MARIO AND NADIA along with every member of the staff is ABSOLUTELY UNDER PAID FOR THE CARE THEY PROVIDE, THEY NOT ONLY LITERALLY SAVED MY LIFE (NO EXAGGERATION) BUT THEY MADE ME FEEL LIKE FAMILY FOR THE SHORT TIME I WAS THERE, I OWE MY LIFE TO THE WHOLE ENTIRE STAFF, if it were not for paradise I know I wouldn't be alive, the words THANK YOU and GREATFUL do NOT suffice what that staff means to me and what they are worth, you have a TEAM OF NOTHING BUT ROCKSTARS THERE THAT GO ABOVE AND WAY BEYOND WHAT THEY NEED TO, THEY NEVER DO THE BARE MINIMUM TO GET BY BUT INSTEAD THEY TREAT YOU LIKE YOU MATTER, LIKE YOUR SOMEONE SPECIAL AND THAT IS PRICELESS, when your a recovering addic you already have no self-esteem, self respect or self worth but the staff helps you not only recover but they also help you get all the self worth, respect and esteem back as well, I could go on forever so I'll leave it with this, PARADISE ISN'T JUST A REHAB / DETOX FACILITY BUT ITS ALSO A PLACE THAT TREATS YOU LIKE YOU MATTER AND AS A ADDIC THAT MEANS EVERYTHING!!! Overall, Brightquest seems to have the potential to be a beautiful place if you make it one and if all those involved (parent, client, referrant, etc) fall under-- to each's own capacity-- a conjoined understanding of what enrolling into the facility truly entails before onboarding. Top of the Line professionals in terms of medical, psychiatric, directorial staff, and coordinators. In the San Diego office, administrative advision and onboarding facilitators seemed to be - at a minimum - understaffed, underprepared, rushed... disjointed, disoriented - retaining inconsistent speech and tonal behaviors. First day, as most everyone will tell you, is definitely whiplashy; so be prepared. Most, if not all therapists are pretty fantastic, though there's a healthy sprinkling that will likely benefit from more seasoning or better balance when it comes to working with the clientele that comes through the facility--especially considering the severity of what Brightquest's treatment plans offer. Resolution could see steps towards improvement with a simple forum on situational and environmental threats, could addtly. benefit from the inclusion of more proactive superiors. (aside from weekly staff meetings which seem to not be too productive, I really just believe there should be a massive overhaul/addition to supervising faculty, or an increase in physical foot traction of prior mentioned superiors, wherever they're holding these mystery figures. Yes, it is true from what I've read in other reviews that plenty key players are conveniently often on vacation. Website also needs an update.) I definitely think that clients should have a say in who they work with throughout their time in treatment, if afforded the luxury-- e.g. building or altering their own teams. The option of choice and communication does so much for clients in a space with inconsistent, often seemingly unclear boundaries and assistance. Also, on the DEI note, not very accommodating in terms of practicing religion. Last and certainly MOST important. If at this point you have any retainer hesitations-- great resources, work study programming, activities, group sessions, and residential function is a very intelligent, strategic layout. Each individual playing a hand in house management, whether that be house managers themselves, night staff, or especially nurse Theresa (who is working 24/7!) are diamonds in the rough of it all. At the end of a long day, throughout any level, at Brightquest (with the right treatment and mentality) you can fall on the network you've built for yourself within the community there. I truly do hope to see the team at BQ San Diego weed out some of the bad parts, as there is so much light and an outpouring of love and friendship in the work done there.

The IOP program at API was very helpful. I worked with a Behavioral Health Therapist, Jen, who included me in the plan for my care. There are several different kinds of Group Sessions where you learn different skills. The "Processing" session was especially helpful because as others shared their experiences, I realized what I was feeling and going through was similar to others. The IOP program helped foster a sense of community, even though the reasons we are there were different. There are kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable staff as well. Thank you Jen, and others, for helping me navigate the difficulties I was experiencing with the loss of a parent.

I wanted to leave this long review with the hope that someone at the center would take it seriously and learn from it. To begin, I gained entry to this program because a doctor recommended me. And honestly? It was the best thing to happen to me that year. The staff is friendly and kind, and they will connect you to lots of resources. That said, there is always room for improvement. For the record, I was homeless when I entered this program (I’m not anymore) due to having lost my job during CO VID. I am an educated woman with a BA in English literature and a survivor of long term narcissistic abuse. My criticism of Balboa Crisis Center is that they don’t enforce the rules! Clients are supposed to attend groups, participate in chores, and respect other people’s food in the fridge. I had a roommate who did the exact opposite and was allowed to stay in the center for a very long time, instead of being kicked out as she should have been. One day she became randomly angry at me and started stealing my food out of the fridge. By this point I realized she was a narcissist – as in, she had full blown NPD – and had imagined some insult from me against her, which narcissists are known to do, often because they are projecting. When I told the staff about this, nothing was done. So I did what I could to minimize the situation by avoiding my roommate as much as possible and asking to be moved to another room. What the staff should have done was exit VICTORIA from the program, instead of allowing her to stay, steal food, shirk chores, and claim a bed that someone else needed more. I was allowed to stay a long time myself, but the end of my stay was coming, and I would be homeless on the street again. I was very upset about the prospect, and Victoria knew this. As I walked past her in the kitchen, she sarcastically said “Bye!” as a passive aggressive way of mocking me for being homeless again soon. This is how narcissists operate, through plausible deniability. I couldn’t prove that she was mocking me because she had been passive aggressive about it. It was covert, reactive abuse. Suddenly sick of always attracting narcissistic bullies into my life, I wheeled back around and asked her what was wrong with her. I think it was at this point that she realized she may have IMAGINED whatever she was mad at me for. She started insisting that she meant nothing by it,that she was just saying goodbye (lies). Things escalated to the point that I picked up a cup from the table and threw it at her (she thought it would be funny to get in my face). I was sick and tired of narcissists. I’ve been abused by a LOT of them and they are drawn to me because I’m quiet, shy, and a loner, the perfect candidate for covert abuse. Well, not anymore. Everyone acted like I was crazy and imagined Victoria’s behavior, but I know the truth. She stole from me and made me do her chores for weeks, then had the gall to mock me about being exited, and when I finally snapped, tried to make herself out to be the victim. How do I know Victoria was the one stealing? I SAW her sitting in bed eating cake she had stolen. I SAW her in the kitchen looking guilty when everyone else was in group. I SAW her smirking in triumph when Christopher was complaining about someone stealing his ice cream. To anyone who was paying attention, it was obvious that Victoria was the theif. Classic narcissist behavior. So on top of being in a crisis (homelessness), I put up with abuse from narcissistic Victoria AND bullying from some of the women on staff (Stephanie and Suzanna -- two mean women), women who were jealous, petty, and insecure. It was a lot to deal with at the time, and with Victoria actively provoking me, it's no wonder I finally snapped. Did anyone there see me with empathy at all? You know, as a human being with feelings? Either way, I am still grateful to Balboa Crisis Center and I hope they take steps to prevent something similar from happening in the future. Yes, this is Ashley. =)
