If it wasn't for parent care I would have never been able to get my kids back or be the better person that I am today! They helped me with better parenting skills but I was able to fight my addiction and I have been sober since July 1st 2021. Special shout out to Shawna my counselor and Jessica my therapist. Also thank you all the other counselors and teachers for your amazing support through one of the most difficult times of my life.

Sharp Grossmont Hospital offers dual diagnosis treatment in La Mesa, California. Their program treats adults fighting addiction and mental health conditions simultaneously. You’ll have a safe, supportive space to focus on healing as you live at home. People struggling with addiction often have underlying conditions like anxiety, depression, and P
All nurses and doctor was really nice, had an intense migraine 5 days straight, on sixth day I started to vomit, and I straight came here. The whole migraine reason I got is, probably a mixture of things, driving to Yosemite national park for 3 full days, not drinking enough water, hot day, the whole day I would spend in water and under the sun. The last day I jumped in the water, it was cloudy, I jumped from swinging bridge picnic area, I’m assuming it was at least 8ft tall from the river. I jumped at least 6 to 8 times and I literally thought that I would die, once we headed towards our Airbnb, that’s when the headache started. Thank goodness because of this crews at the Grossmont sharp hospital that I am well now.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I was a patient at Sharp Grossmont Hospital for almost two weeks, from the end of July 2025 through the beginning of August 2025. Despite everything I was going through, the care I received was outstanding. The doctors, nurses, and every staff member I interacted with treated me with kindness, compassion, and professionalism. They always took the time to answer my questions, made sure I was comfortable, and truly cared about my recovery. The hospital itself was always very clean, and I noticed the staff constantly cleaning and sanitizing the rooms and common areas. After my surgery, I spent about 24 hours in the ASU. The nurses there were absolutely amazing. I especially remember Nolan and the rest of the team. They were by my side the entire time, constantly checking on me, making sure I was comfortable, managing my pain, and helping me feel safe during one of the hardest moments of my life. Their kindness and compassion meant more to me than they will probably ever realize. Because I was recovering from major lung surgery, I requested a larger room since my original room felt too small, especially when I had a few visitors. With my lung condition at the time, I felt like I needed more space. The staff accommodated my request, and I really appreciated their understanding. After I was transferred, my wife found a louse on the guest sleeping bad while changing the sheets. It was definitely upsetting, but I don’t believe it reflected the hospital’s cleanliness. Throughout my stay, I saw the hospital staff cleaning and sanitizing everything every day, so I truly believe it was an isolated incident rather than a sanitation issue. I also want to compliment the food service. For a hospital, the meals were surprisingly good, and the food service team did an excellent job throughout my stay. Most importantly, I want to sincerely thank Dr. Ara S. Klijian, who performed my lung surgery. He did an incredible job. A year later, I feel normal again and have been able to get back to living my life. I will always be grateful for his skill, dedication, and the outstanding care he provided. Overall, I gladly give Sharp Grossmont Hospital five stars. The compassion, professionalism, and quality of care I received made a very difficult time much easier, and I truly appreciate everyone who helped me through my recovery. Thank you to the entire team for taking such great care of me.

JOSE, PETE, MARIO AND NADIA along with every member of the staff is ABSOLUTELY UNDER PAID FOR THE CARE THEY PROVIDE, THEY NOT ONLY LITERALLY SAVED MY LIFE (NO EXAGGERATION) BUT THEY MADE ME FEEL LIKE FAMILY FOR THE SHORT TIME I WAS THERE, I OWE MY LIFE TO THE WHOLE ENTIRE STAFF, if it were not for paradise I know I wouldn't be alive, the words THANK YOU and GREATFUL do NOT suffice what that staff means to me and what they are worth, you have a TEAM OF NOTHING BUT ROCKSTARS THERE THAT GO ABOVE AND WAY BEYOND WHAT THEY NEED TO, THEY NEVER DO THE BARE MINIMUM TO GET BY BUT INSTEAD THEY TREAT YOU LIKE YOU MATTER, LIKE YOUR SOMEONE SPECIAL AND THAT IS PRICELESS, when your a recovering addic you already have no self-esteem, self respect or self worth but the staff helps you not only recover but they also help you get all the self worth, respect and esteem back as well, I could go on forever so I'll leave it with this, PARADISE ISN'T JUST A REHAB / DETOX FACILITY BUT ITS ALSO A PLACE THAT TREATS YOU LIKE YOU MATTER AND AS A ADDIC THAT MEANS EVERYTHING!!! The people that make up the team at Brightquest are some of the most compassionate, patient and caring people you’ll come across. Simon in admissions takes the time to understand what’s going on with your loved one and how to get them from point A to point B. He really cares and takes the time to understand the whole picture. Overall, Brightquest seems to have the potential to be a beautiful place if you make it one and if all those involved (parent, client, referrant, etc) fall under-- to each's own capacity-- a conjoined understanding of what enrolling into the facility truly entails before onboarding. Top of the Line professionals in terms of medical, psychiatric, directorial staff, and coordinators. In the San Diego office, administrative advision and onboarding facilitators seemed to be - at a minimum - understaffed, underprepared, rushed... disjointed, disoriented - retaining inconsistent speech and tonal behaviors. First day, as most everyone will tell you, is definitely whiplashy; so be prepared. Most, if not all therapists are pretty fantastic, though there's a healthy sprinkling that will likely benefit from more seasoning or better balance when it comes to working with the clientele that comes through the facility--especially considering the severity of what Brightquest's treatment plans offer. Resolution could see steps towards improvement with a simple forum on situational and environmental threats, could addtly. benefit from the inclusion of more proactive superiors. (aside from weekly staff meetings which seem to not be too productive, I really just believe there should be a massive overhaul/addition to supervising faculty, or an increase in physical foot traction of prior mentioned superiors, wherever they're holding these mystery figures. Yes, it is true from what I've read in other reviews that plenty key players are conveniently often on vacation. Website also needs an update.) I definitely think that clients should have a say in who they work with throughout their time in treatment, if afforded the luxury-- e.g. building or altering their own teams. The option of choice and communication does so much for clients in a space with inconsistent, often seemingly unclear boundaries and assistance. Also, on the DEI note, not very accommodating in terms of practicing religion. Last and certainly MOST important. If at this point you have any retainer hesitations-- great resources, work study programming, activities, group sessions, and residential function is a very intelligent, strategic layout. Each individual playing a hand in house management, whether that be house managers themselves, night staff, or especially nurse Theresa (who is working 24/7!) are diamonds in the rough of it all. At the end of a long day, throughout any level, at Brightquest (with the right treatment and mentality) you can fall on the network you've built for yourself within the community there. I truly do hope to see the team at BQ San Diego weed out some of the bad parts, as there is so much light and an outpouring of love and friendship in the work done there.

The IOP program at API was very helpful. I worked with a Behavioral Health Therapist, Jen, who included me in the plan for my care. There are several different kinds of Group Sessions where you learn different skills. The "Processing" session was especially helpful because as others shared their experiences, I realized what I was feeling and going through was similar to others. The IOP program helped foster a sense of community, even though the reasons we are there were different. There are kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable staff as well. Thank you Jen, and others, for helping me navigate the difficulties I was experiencing with the loss of a parent.

At my time at Evolve it was hard at first to get used to, but the staff were so incredibly helpful and kind throughout the process and made it so much easier for me. I also would like to show my appreciation for the staff Taylor, Jennifer, Justin, and Gabby. They were the four in specific that really motivated me to continue with my treatment and even made it feel so exciting when they went on shift, making treatment enjoyable. All staff had made me feel incredibly welcomed and even the chef, Fred. I will never forget about the memories I made here with clients but staff as well even if it was a hard time of my life, out of any treatment center I had visited this one will forever be my favorite place I had gone to. Not to mention the therapists Ashely, and Linda were so kind to everyone and incredibly funny. I was nervous to go at first and my parents were too, in the end I made countless memories I cannot replace nor want to. Evolve truly saved my life at a time I did not believe that I could be saved and turned it around completely. I appreciate all staff and everyone who had supported me throughout my time there 💗

Before Evolve we tried other programs for my son.. I was at the point of giving up my right to him because I couldn't do it anymore. Residential was my last try. My son had outbursts, Aggression Anxiety, depression. We had try Therapy psychiatrist multiple doctors, calling the police, 72-hour hold. Nothing had worked. My son slowly started to try at Evolve. It wasn't easy. Now that he is at home he says it helps him out significantly, the food that the chef made was one of his favorites. The program had activities for them throughout the week. He says he gives Jules' therapist a hard time but over time he learns so much from her. How to handle and cope with his emotions how to self-regulate. Lorenzo was the teacher that they have there he encouraged and pushed my son to want to be better. All the Staff members are amazing. He has been home for 3 weeks now he continues to do well. He is active in the swimming team, attending a mentorship program, seen a therapist and a psychiatrist.

Very professional. Great location, very organized, therapist Kristin and psychiatrist Dr. Chou were great. Chef Fred was amazing, but they need to do a better job feeding the kids when Fred isn’t there, especially given what these places charge. It should be 1st class across the board. Not to spoil the kids, but it’s a stressful time for them in recovery, and their food options should be vast on the weekends. They worked with me to have flexible visitation because I was coming from out of state.

Our 16-year-old son attended Evolve Adolescent Behavioral Health at their Mount Helix location in La Mesa for approximately eight weeks to address substance use and other mental health challenges. From the very beginning, the communication from Evolve was outstanding. The entire team was consistently kind, compassionate, and truly seemed to have not just my son’s best interests in mind, but our whole family’s as well. Our family therapist, Emily Bell, was wonderful — supportive, insightful, and a real asset to the team. My son’s primary therapist, Mariah, was also fantastic and really connected with him. Both therapists were instrumental in helping our son make meaningful progress. Evolve offers a very structured program based on evidence-based practices, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). The program blends group therapy, individual therapy, and experiential activities such as surfing and equine therapy, which really helped keep the teens engaged. They also take the kids on outings into the community to practice the skills they are learning in real-world settings, which I thought was an incredible aspect of the program. While my son was initially very resistant to attending, he quickly found that he enjoyed the program and learned valuable skills he continues to use at home. The daily structure, along with the point system they use to encourage participation and good decision-making, really helped motivate him to stay engaged. One thing that stood out to me was how much Evolve involved us as parents throughout the process. Through weekly family therapy and regular updates, I always knew what my son was working on and felt like a true partner in his treatment journey. The only minor downside was some noticeable staff turnover during his stay, including a new educational consultant and changes in the nursing team. However, I can understand that working in this environment is extremely demanding, and it did not significantly impact the quality of care our son received. Overall, our experience with Evolve Mount Helix was extremely positive and truly life-changing for our son. I would highly recommend Evolve to any family seeking thoughtful, compassionate, and effective mental health treatment for their teenager.

My son recently spent 6 weeks at Evolve ,Mt. Helix. He received incredible care there. Alex, the nurse went above and beyond. She went out of her way to form a bond with my son! She kept in close contact with me when my son had to go the ER when he became ill . Taylor also took great care of my son as well. They both made my son feel safe and well taken care of! Kristin (his primary therapist) did an great job with both individual therapy and family therapy. My only real issue with the program was the food served at the facility. He was served high calorie /high fat takeout for a good portion of his stay as the chef was out. When I asked about it ,I was told by the clinical director that they were not required to follow any nutritional guidelines! I feel that part of the journey of getting well is nutrition. There should have been better arrangements when Fred (the chef ) had to be out. As a whole I feel the program was a great fit for my son as they use DBT along with other treatments modalities.

Wow, where to start. When I first came to the program I was skeptical, like most, in thinking that I even had a problem or that my problem stemmed so deep into my childhood that I didn’t care to look at it anymore. Quickly through the programs open mindset and welcoming arms, and through the teachings of Ron and David, I realized that there were a lot of things I was overlooking for fear of dealing with them. I couldn’t have asked for a better recovery center to help me deal with my problems and show me what life is truly like on the sober side. Keep up the good work 🙏🏼🤙🏼

I have struggled with alcohol abuse for the last three years and this was the ONE place out of 23 treatment centers that finally worked. Nobody ever thought they would see me sober, but today I can say I am, thanks to Sober Life. I was a frequent relapser, just barely making it by, and when I decided to seek treatment through Sober Life a whole new world opened for me. The team at Sober Life cares. I felt valued, I felt empowered, understood and heard. After being in and out of so many treatment centers I found myself fatigued, but through my process with Sober Life I actually wanted to continue my program as long as I could. I WANTED to be there and I've learned a life I never knew possible thanks to the team there. I can say that this program likely saved my life, and showed me a new life that I could never have imagined. The support and understanding was beyond belief. I felt so safe there. I've made friendships with a lot of my peers from groups as well. Which I never wanted to do before. Recovery can be difficult to begin, scary to start, but Sober Life feels SAFE. I'm not the type to write reviews, but I know how hard I struggled and for anyone reading this or questioning a start, I highly recommend this team. I am eternally grateful for my experience there.

Sober life has been one of the best experiences in my life! I came in not really sure what I wanted out of treatment and scared to really connect with people and have them see me in my weaker moments. All of the staff at sober life loved me through these issues and helped me get to a place where I felt safe and comfortable enough to communicate what was really going on with me, and gave me the tools I needed to be able to deal with things as they came up on a daily basis. Anytime I was a little off or lost any amount of momentum, they noticed immediately and did whatever they could to make sure I continued my progress and that even though addiction is a lonely disease, it became a lot easier to believe I wasnt alone and recovery is possible. It wasn't complicated at all, they handle the insurance stuff for you so you can focus and prioritize your recovery over anything else. Kimberly, Dan, Ashley, and Kelley have all been huge grounding stones in my recovery, showing up every time and helping me make solutions out of chaos. Having all of these amazing, kind, and extremely dependable people in my life has kept me steady and also taught me what having people around who genuinely love you, want the best for you, and who celebrate your achievements and help you through your downfalls looks like. Like any recovery program, you have to want it and put in your own effort, but they make the weight just lighter enough that it seems much more attainable.

My experience at Restore was genuinely meaningful. From the moment I arrived, I was treated with dignity, compassion, and respect during a time I needed all three. Everyone I interacted with made an effort to understand me as a person, not just someone going through a difficult chapter. I felt supported without feeling judged, and cared for without feeling like I had lost my independence. The environment was comfortable, private, and much more welcoming than I expected from a detox and recovery center. The combination of care, structure, support, and genuine human connection gave me the space I needed to ground myself and think clearly about what I wanted to do moving forward. Restore and the people there had a real impact on me, and I left feeling stronger and more hopeful than when I walked through the doors. I would absolutely recommend Restore. Asking for help can be one of the hardest decisions someone makes. I’m grateful Restore was there when I made mine.

So what do I say about Steven and Restore Detox Centers? When I entered through the doors of this facility, I was a completely defeated and tormented soul as a result of the ravages of addiction. I had arrived at the end of myself! All my own ideas about how to live my life had failed me, but THIS is precisely where the LIGHT stepped in and met me; in the total darkness of my own demolition, destruction, degeneration, degradation and demoralization. I was hopeless! I didn't believe that I could recover from this seemingly hopeless state of mind and body and like the song by America, "Lonely People" states, I believed that "life had passed me by." Well, here I am some time later, and I can HONESTLY share with you, from the very Top of my heart, that my life is indescribably wonderful now. My seconds and minutes and hours of each day were filled with torment and dread! Now, they have been replaced with enthusiastically looking forward to seeing the wonderful friends that I have made, the smiles and hugs that I am greeted with, and the super cool testimonies that I get to continuosly hear! I was asked to take some simple steps (12), not easy but simple, and I was told that I didn't even have to believe. I just had to take these simple actions and they would result in an experience that would prove their effectiveness. If you're in a place of abject bewilderment and confusion and you have come to the end of yourself, please know that a new You is waiting to emerge; a new, Regenerated, Rejuvenated, RESTORED, and Reconciled (to Self, Family, Friends and God) version of You is waiting to be born! And an acutely wonderful place to begin this journey is with Steven and his kind, caring, warm and empathetic staff at Restore Detox Centers. "Don't give up until you drink from the Silver cup and ride that Highway in the Sky!" Let the journey begin!

When my son experienced a relapse, he was only at this facility for a couple of days, but those three days left a lasting impression on our family. From the very beginning, Steven treated both my son and us with genuine compassion, honesty, and respect. He didn't offer false promises or sugarcoat the challenges of recovery, but he also never lost sight of our son as a person who deserved hope and dignity. It was clear that he truly cared—not just about getting someone through detox, but about helping them find a path to lasting recovery. As a parent, feeling understood and supported during such a difficult time meant more than I can express. I am deeply grateful for the kindness, professionalism, and authentic concern we experienced. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility to anyone looking for a place where people are treated with both compassion and accountability.

My Husband has been through a lot was addicted to everything was a very agitated man and I am so thankful to have my husband back and it’s all because of this program. He stayed in the copper house for two months and he loved it so much. It was hard to bring him home. He chose his recovery center And he was there because he wanted to be there not because he wanted to be Not because he had to be there. My father has been attending this recovery place. Watching someone you love struggle is one of the most painful experiences life can offer. My father’s journey with addiction affected not only him, but our entire family. This rehab gave my dad a chance to step away from the chaos and begin to face the pain that fueled his addiction. This place has treated him greatly and I'll be forever grateful for what they have done. Since entering the program a few months ago, he has begun the hard work of healing. I finally feel like I have my dad back and could not be more thankful for the staff and everyone else included, truly. I HIGHLY recommend this place for someone and/or a family member struggling with addiction.

Life-Changing Experience at Pacific Bay Recovery Center As a mom, choosing a rehab for my son was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. After researching countless facilities in San Diego, we decided on Pacific Bay Recovery Center, and I can confidently say it was the best decision we ever made. Pacific Bay didn’t just help my son recover—they saved his life. From the very beginning, they treated him like family. The care and compassion from every staff member, from the therapist and psychiatrist to the case managers, were unparalleled. They didn’t just see my son as another patient; they truly invested in his well-being and future. The individualized attention he received made all the difference. The therapists were deeply insightful, helping him understand and address the root causes of his struggles. The psychiatrist provided thoughtful, expert guidance, and the case managers were a source of constant support, ensuring he stayed on track every step of the way. Beyond the clinical care, the atmosphere at Pacific Bay is warm and welcoming—a safe haven for anyone seeking to rebuild their life. They created a nurturing environment where my son felt seen, heard, and valued. Today, my son is thriving, and it’s all thanks to the dedicated team at Pacific Bay. I am forever grateful to them for giving me my son back and helping him rediscover hope, purpose, and joy. If you’re looking for a place that goes above and beyond to treat your loved one with the care they deserve, I cannot recommend Pacific Bay Recovery Center highly enough.

I went to La Jolla recovery from August to December of 2025. I had been to 4 rehabs before this one, and not a single one had ever helped me get my addiction under control. It’s about a year later now and I can proudly say I’ve been sober ever since I went there. The location is absolutely perfect, the counselors and employees are knowledgeable and extremely helpful, and the community there was better than any of the other rehabs I went to. The only reason they lose a star is because they started charging my lab work to my out of pocket card instead of billing it through my insurance, causing me to suddenly owe over 100,000$ in the middle of my stay. I got it figured out so thank god I didn’t have to pay anything, but still I can’t even begin to imagine what would have happened if I hadn’t figured that out. It never happened again and I didn’t hear anyone else say it happened to them so I’m inclined to believe it was actually just an honest mistake. Aside from that this place was perfect and I would highly recommend it

I can honestly say that what Rachel did for me in our individual sessions fundamentally changed the way I understand myself. She is brilliant, warm, and precise in a way that makes you feel genuinely seen rather than analyzed. I came in broken and left with actual tools, not platitudes. Two years out and I still use what I learned there every single day. Thank you!

AToN saved my life, and I don't say that lightly as someone who completed their program two years ago and has stayed sober since. Dr. Kevin's approach to clinical care is unlike anything I encountered in years of outpatient therapy. He has a way of cutting through the noise and getting to what's actually driving the behavior, without ever making you feel judged or reduced. The group sessions, the holistic work, the food, the grounds - all of it creates an environment where healing doesn't just feel possible, it feels inevitable. If you're on the fence, please get off it. This place is the real thing.
