I thought it would be quick. I originally came in expecting just a psych evaluation then to go home, so when I found out I had to stay, I completely flipped out. I ended up being here for around 11 days. Over time, I really used the groups to my advantage and learned a lot. Had so much time to think, met a lot of amazing people, the staff were incredibly kind and supportive. What started as one of the worst experiences of my life became something that taught me a lot about myself and healing. I appreciate my life so much more. I’m happy to know there’s a safe place I can turn to if I ever find myself in that kind of situation again. By the end, leaving almost felt bittersweet. I wish I would have stayed and not been coerced by my mom to run away to come back home with her!!!! I FEEL In My HEART, & SOUL thst My life would probably have been a lot different," if I Stayed, because I was doing so well there and my mom saw that so she wanted to make sure she stopped that for me I had my first job there and my second job there ever in life it was awesome it was my first opportunity I remember I only made one job I made $2.75 and the other one it was 425 I worked in the kitchen for the one job for one job and the other job I worked with the as an assistant cuz my little sister was over there and would cry for me a lot. When I first arrived there they used to have little boys but shortly after they stopped allowing boys there and only allowed girls to be there. I really remember the nuns there they were awesome there was this one nun that would walk around with her sneakers on wearing her headphones jaming out listen to her music, & dancing around, she used to make me smile and I remember thinking that there could be a chance for me to be happy in my life, which gave me hope, *I TRULY BELIEVED THAT❣️" If I would have stayed there I also remember a lady named Mary Pickford I don't know about her she just I don't know something about her . All these years I've tried to look for my roommate, Jennifer garlish, but I've never found her and I've always tried to look for her I really miss her and I truly miss the time I spent at Maryville and wish I had a second chance so I could change the decision I made I guess that something I'm just going to have to always regret and live with. They will book your flights, pick you up at the airport, etc. Additionally, they handle all of the behind-the-scenes parts (i.e. contacting your workplace, paperwork, etc.). The facility for detox / residential is top notch. You get lunch and dinner catered. You can also make a grocery list for them to get for you. The staff is top notch. I was spoiled with how great my case manager was. The medical techs were also great. I had a mental breakdown and one of them brought me into her office to talk be back to sanity. Basically, how it works is you spend thirty days at the detox / residential facility. The first week-ish is your detox. The rest is going to group courses. Once you complete that, you have the option to do their PHP program (residential living). Much more freedom, fewer classes. If you are someone who has had a history with and have gotten out of religion, AA is pushed heavily on you. Thankfully, I was allowed to go another route for semi-daily meetings once I reached the PHP phase. Bring items comforting you. For me, it was definitely a different area than the Midwest. I certainly wish I had brought by blanket that was breathable in the warm climate. All in all, this was a great opportunity to meet new friends AND get out of whichever substance you have had an issue with. Over time, this place became so much more than just a rehab facility to me. The staff truly cared about me as a person, not just another client walking through the door. The support, structure, conversations, and friendships I built there gave me the foundation I needed to finally start over. I’m still sober today, and I constantly think about how different my life could look if I hadn’t made the decision to go to treatment. I've been to two different rehabs before this one (one being a well-known, Nationwide facility) and this is by far the superior institution. They have several different levels of care to assist in every stage of the rehabilitation process. The detox was smooth and cautious; I felt extremely safe and comfortable. The group sessions are gentle and inviting, to let clients know that they are in capable hands and an accepting environment. The therapy sessions dive deep into the mental health issues that lead to addiction. The staff is professional when they need to be, but also speak to clients like they are real people and not just another patient. The homey atmosphere (as opposed to a hospital setting) makes the experience both realistic and comforting. The way it's ran shows clients that they can live a normal, sober life. It impacts their recovery journey by letting clients set attainable daily and long-term goals.
