New Visions genuinely saved my life.
I went for 29 days in May of 2023, and left cause I thought I could it. I was high again 2 weeks later.
They picked me up the second time I went and welcomed me back with open arms.
I was at my lowest. Lost custody of my kids, my bf was cheating and hitting me. We were both addicts, with no way out.
When I went back they assisted me in addressing every problem I had. The counselor I had was amazing, and she made sure I knew I was heard and mattered. I was there around 5 months which is longer than most, but it was exactly what I needed.
I now have over 2 years sober from IV use of meth. I have my kids weekly with a job, my own place, and a vehicle.
Without New Visions staff and support I can honestly say, I would still be alone, at my lowest.
They provided for me in ways I couldn't provide for myself. ♥️

BAART programs has literally saved my life. I was in shambles prior to BAART no self respect, lost my family and their respect, did not have a home or decent vehicle my entire life was up in the air I had absolutely no direction. Needless to say after meeting the extremely professional staff with their respectful down to earth attitude they made me feel right at home. Counseling was and is amazing I love being able to speak to someone who understands my struggles. Through the program I was taught to hold my self accountable for my actions among many other well needed life lessons. BAART has been the beginning to my journey but most definitely not the end so I say THANK YOU BAART Porterville 🙏 you are one of the main reasons I am here today. Also please keep in mind BAART just like any other place is closed for most holidays on google It Will say for instance today is (Insert Holiday Name Here) and it may alter the hours that are posted. I am so thankful for the VA and especially the Tulare Clinic. We live in a country that takes care of it's veterans and, yes, there are some miscues, I've made a few myself, but I am still very thankful and the staff and doctors have given me the care I have needed. There are options, you can always go wait at a non-VA Dr. and wait there and pay for it out of your pocket. I've used my Tri-Care with some success but in the end I prefer my VA, both in Tulare and Fresno.

I loved attending this outpatient program. They have a couches and a big screen TV where you can sit and wait for your group to start. Counselors that really care and know what to say to you. If you're serious about your recovery but don't want the commitment of going to an inpatient program which is what I was dealing with it really was amazing. All the staff is always so nice. Lori Keen was my counselor and she just made a big difference to my recovery. And all the people that attend other people going through similar situations are really cool it's cool to meet new types of people

Excellent staff; RNs, MH staff, including Guards. I only had one bad experience with an RN during my 8 or so days, and perhaps she was just having a bad day. (Very understandable with some of the patients there, WOW!!) One of the other RNs liked to compare opinions on various shows on Netflixs and other films and tv shows we had seen, plus recommendations to each other, on the one rare day of her 3 day shift she had a little time to breathe. She also had never had an opportunity to talk to anyone who had experienced Electric Shock Therapy or some time back changed with Shock replaced by Convulsive. I understand perfectly why it is policy not to allow any mental health staff to meet, etc. with any former patients with MH issues. However, is it possible to meet in the safety of the hospital, at the discretion of the RN in this case of course. There are some very dangerous men there, some of which i met there. In fact, while I was there, a every loud female scream was heard throughout a large section of the hospital from a small room there. Obviously, a male patient did something very wrong to one of the female MH staff. Immediately, all the MH staff plus guards who heard the scream instantly dropped whatever they were doing and ran as fast as they could to her aid. Don't know any details, of course, but we patients in the area across from the activity sure we're surprised and curious about it. Also, locked in, perhaps.
Anyway, the Bing map i was given befóre going to my new housing was very flawed.

First steps is one of the greatest places you could ever end up for recovery. This place was my home away from home for my stay of 90 days the great staff made me feel so welcomed as soon as I walked through the doors. I’m almost at my completion of 30 day in Firststeps recovery I’m gonna tell you this program has been an eye opener for I really thought it was going to be like them programs around Fresno that have all the criminal elements and different types of court ordered people but it wasn’t. This was way different every type of working class people trying to better themselves and I never seen this around not in all the times I was court ordered to attend NA/AA classes thank god it’s east like what I was used to seeing I felt at peace and excepted here because I to have been to prison from the age of 18 till I was 25 years old I spent probably 2 months out in the streets I was clean for about 14 years and around 3 1/2 years ago I picked up again this time almost taking myself to the grave now I enjoy waking up every morning with a purpose in life to better myself and the people around me that are in this program. You our addiction doesn’t discriminate it attacks every walks of life and I’m glad to enjoy my sobriety with individuals that excepted me in like everyone that walks through the Firststeps recovery facility so if you have a family member or friend that needs help in addition I recommend you send them here were no one is judged but excepted as the addicted that we all are my drug of choice is meth there’s can be alcohol, opioids, or just marijuana addition is addiction and we all understand each other regardless of our D.O.C. Success on recovering oh and I think Michael and Moises are the absolute best ppl that are in this field couldn't ask for anthiing better I am so lucky to have such an awesome counselor I have such a strong connection with him just grateful all the way around I honest to God couldn't say one bad thing about this place or how they run it

I have been coming here for years. This place saved my life. I was lucky for so long to have an amazing counselor with Corinna until she left. Still miss her! Then I got to be with Monica for a while until she ended up leaving. Miss her too! And now I am with Juanita and she is also awesome! I have been very lucky with the counselors I have had. Juanita inspires and encourages me every time I talk to her! I am very lucky to have her as my counselor! Although I hope to safely be off eventually I am grateful to this clinic for everything they have done. The employees here have always been kind to me and helpful.

I want to say thank u to the staff for making me feel like I am someone. I'm have the best counselor 💜Juanita she is a blessing and so much more. ~N~ 💜Audrey she's a angel in disguise she will help anyway possible. Then there is the Diva 💜Monica she is the diva that will talk with anyone and tell u how it is but has a soft heart ♥. Arlene the smiling face u will see when u walk in everyday she will try to help u with anything possible. She's a sweetheart all the employees I have came across have been so awesome there r just so many to mention. They give everyone a chance at getting help they r a blessing I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH BAART PROGRAM VAN NESS.
