The Aegis Treatment Center on 21st Street, Bakersfield CA. is a well run facility with very few hiccups in the daily routine. The front desk nurses are informative and efficient in there duties, as are the nurses that handle distribution of the meds.(Very professional). The counseling staff are well educated and experienced in there positions. Not to be forgotten how well management runs the show. This clinic has my good recommendation because of the professional and friendly personable nature of the whole staff.
I’ve been enrolled in both the behavioral health center and the counseling center for substance abuse. These programs have changed my life and helped me beyond measure. I highly recommend to anyone who is seeking help with addiction and/or mental health. All the counselors in both programs are supportive and insightful in their respective areas of expertise. A group setting along with the various therapy strategies are utilized to help their clients. My personal experience with the anger management courses was eye opening and provided tools to use in my life.( one of my favorites) Another favorite of mine was family group night, for the families of addicts and alcoholics. This was a very beneficial resource for my wife and me. I could go on and on about both of these programs but I’ll end with this. If you come to either of these programs with an open mind and an open heart they are almost guaranteed to help you with your healing journey.

I am forever grateful to the entire team at Aspire Counseling Services. From the moment I arrived, depressed and broken, I was met with compassion, professionalism, and genuine care. This isn't just a facility; it's a place that gives you your life back.
The program itself was incredibly well-structured, blending evidence-based therapies similar to individual counseling and group sessions with holistic approaches such as yoga, gym attendance and mindfulness. This combination helped me address not just the addiction, but the underlying causes and traumas that fueled it. The counselors are not just doing a job; they are dedicated, insightful, and truly invested in each person's recovery.
The environment was safe, clean, and supportive, allowing me to focus entirely on my healing. The aftercare alumni program is a testament to their commitment to long-term recovery.
To anyone hesitant or seeking help for themselves or a loved one: I cannot recommend Aspire highly enough. Taking that first step is terrifying, but this team will walk with you every step of the way. Thank you for giving me a second chance and the tools to build a healthy, sober future.
I wanted to edit my previous review of this facility. Although I did not have the best experience with the first rep I spoke to. Another man named Carry has been reaching out to me and has been very helpful. He cares a lot about others wellbeing.

I would describe my experience with Action IOP like a rollercoaster, all because of my own actions. When I got out of Action Residential I wanted to change my life, but I didn't want to stop using. Because of that, I went in and out of IOP, but never once did the counselors OR the clients judge me. They all excepted me with open arms. There was never judgement in the groups or in individual counseling. I can just speak on my own experience, walking through that door, it's like a sense of acceptance and meditation. The counselors, and clients alike, all just want to see the next person to walk through the door make it; because the disease of addiction is deadly. It was the counselors at Action IOP that helped me see that using really was life or death for me, and that I could live a beautiful life without the influence of drugs. I became so excited for groups that I even attended some 3 months after I graduated! The counselors never let anyone walk through that door without giving them a bit of their time, and they never let anyone exit that door feeling defeated. They all are so absolutely dedicated to their "job", because to them it's not a "job"; it's about helping the addict who still suffers.

I have tried the other Aegis locations & quit going due to how long the wait was & how insensitive and unsympathetic the staff was especially at the Columbus location. The Aegis on Truxtun is fast very discrete clean. The staff is so nice, welcoming, sympathetic & very understanding to the patients needs. I felt welcome & heard when I voiced some concerns I had. The doctor is very nice & treats you like a human being & not less than.

I was initially nervous and apprehensive about starting treatment, as I wasn’t sure what to expect. However, scheduling an appointment was seamless, and I was admitted the following morning. From the moment I arrived, I felt genuinely welcomed. The staff was incredibly kind, compassionate, and professional, immediately putting me at ease.
One of my biggest concerns was the fear of being judged, but I am grateful to say that I experienced nothing but understanding and support. The facility itself is impeccably maintained—clean, elegant, and situated in a beautiful location. The atmosphere is calm and private, which was particularly beneficial for my recovery journey.
Attending treatment here has truly changed my life. The privacy and comfort of morning visits allowed me to focus entirely on my healing. I am deeply thankful to the staff for their dedication and care. After beginning treatment, I experienced immediate relief from withdrawal symptoms and finally feel as though I have regained control of my life.
To anyone struggling with opioid addiction, I encourage you to seek help. You are not alone, and this facility provides the support and care necessary for recovery. If you are considering treatment, I highly recommend reaching out to them

I put a bad review because I am a butt-head and sometimes bad at communication/reviews! I have been treated beyond fairly by Aegis. The truxtun location is very lovely, the staff is very genuine, they have treated me so well it is beyond what I could ever ask for. Thank you guys for being there for me.
This Facility has been very helpful for my loved one so far! I bring them every single day for their therapy. Some people there do make you feel a bit judged my Loved one says but, for the most part He likes it. His therapist is amazing and the Dr. Is great.

They need to post that they stop dosing at 1:30 on the hours. They might be open for counseling until 2:30 but they won't allow you to dose.

Hello, I went in for help with one medication until Medicare kicked in, and I ended up with all kinds of appointments with doctors, dentists and expenses paid. Fast, fast service! Their business partners in the Medical fields are top tie; I had explanations with details never explained by previous medical professionals. Two public health nurses and therapist on site: Carrie, Pam, and Rhonda. Thank you, for going the extra mile, I certainly didn't expect it!

nice caring sI CANNOT communicate w/ people who do NOT understand it's the PRINCIPLE of things. It's not what you did. It's how you did it & what makes it so bad is knowing if roles were switched, you’d lose yo mind as well. Some will never mature bc they have people in their corner justifying their wrongs. Right is RIGHT & Wrong is WRONG. A person will never know how to hold themselves accountable if the folks around them continuously applaud them or make excuses for themupportive understanding loving clean
I’m always treated good at this VA facility. For veterans complaining about not being able to reach anyone by phone. The fastest way to get a response is to log into VA.gov and message your Primary care Dr or the department you’re looking for. Leave a brief message with your needs . I went in 2017 suicidal, depressed and hopeless. This amazing place changed my life by teaching me DBT and treating me as a welcomed guest. I have friends turned chosen family that I made there. The Staff was knowledgeable, compassionate and understanding. The Hope House was my only experience in the mental health care system. In 2020 I lost my freedom over a lie, I experienced Good Samaritan Hospital and Mary K Shell, horrible experience, night and day, I came home with trauma and triggers by the abuses of Dr. BARNES and the GSH that has no cameras to catch them beating up patients. I wish they can take note of the peaceful, healing, environment the Hope House created and the life saving therapy. To me it was life saving because I was never suicidal or depressed again, using DBT skills my Beloved Ron taught me.
