About Steps Inc
Known as “Nashville West” for its unique contribution to country music, Bakersfield, California, also features Steps Inc. Since 1964 this nonprofit outpatient center has offered DUI classes and intensive treatment for substance use disorders. Kern County adults and adolescents can access a judgment-free zone to reinstate their licenses and learn more about recovery.
With outpatient care you can live at home and tend to daily responsibilities while getting the help you need. Whether this is your first offense or fourth, or you’ve been convicted of reckless driving, you’ll have a supportive environment to get back on track.
Their programs offer several tracks ranging from wet reckless to multiple offender classes. Depending on your unique situation you’ll participate in between two and 18 months of courses to meet the requirements for reinstatement. These courses offer education, individual counseling, group sessions and re-entry sessions at different intensity levels.
For me their DUI programs for minors really stood out. As the only program in Kern County to offer services for youth under 18, they ensure adolescents can receive the same high quality classes as adults. They welcome those referred by the courts of probation. I think this is great because these classes recognize that younger people can still experience addiction, so they offer early intervention. That way, you or your loved one can benefit from understanding the dangers of driving under the influence and prevent further offenses.
I also think it’s nice that they provide an intensive outpatient program (IOP). They understand that substance abuse is often the root cause of DUI offenses. You can participate in assessments, counseling, family therapy and care coordination. Their dedicated team helps you get to the core of addiction and build coping skills. With these healthy skills you can sustain recovery and avoid future offenses.

Other Forms of Payment
Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.
Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Levels of Care
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
Programs
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
Clinical Services
Individual therapy for drug addiction includes a customized treatment plan that considers your history and life circumstances. During your therapy sessions, the therapist helps you uncover underlying issues and triggers for addictive behavior that support a holistic approach to recovery.
