My brother has been coming around more, due to the motivation the counselors and staff member give him when they see him! Everyone is so polite and generous there! Stella Gonzalez 2 weeks ago I was a pain pill addict for 8 years. I started off taking vicodin (hydrocodone) as prescribed, but I really liked the euphoric affects it gave me. One a day became 2, then 2 became 4, and by the time it was all said and done, I was taking 15 hydrocodone 5/500 daily. If I had 7/750, then it was 8 a day; Darvocet 6.5/650 was 8 a day (until it was taken off the market); Oxycodone (Oxycontin) 4-6 a day. I was married at the time and my wife just had hernia surgery. I took her prescription and filled it "for her" (Oxycodone, but I don't recall the mgs. per tablet, but she had a qty. of 30). She was ok for a few days so she didn't take anything but Tylenol. After about 10 days she was hurting and decided to take one. I had taken ALL 30 of HER pills because of my addiction (NO REAL HUSBAND WOULD HAVE DONE THAT BECAUSE HE WOULD HAVE PUT HIS WIFE'S NEEDS ABOVE HIS OWN). I finally had enough and searched the Internet "Stop using pain pills now". There was an article about a clinic called Aegis Medical Services that could help with opiate addiction. I called and spoke with the clinic's manager for about an hour and was 85% sure I should go. That Monday I went, got a decent check-up while there, and I've been there on and off for 4 years. People bad-mouth these types of clinics, but I'm thankful for them because now I'm not asking my 16 year-old son (who is now 21) to find me some pain pills. I was fiending (pronounced feening) and knocking on doors whenever I was out. Asking strangers on the streets if they knew where I could get vicodin. I couldn't work because I couldn't pass a drug test. I actually got denied a $20 an hour job changing filters on an oil rig in the Santa Monica area because I was taking vicodin that I didn't have a prescription for. Going to Aegis, I can hold down a steady job and I don't have to ask my son, strangers, or anyone else if they know where I can get vicodin just so I can function. When I feel the time is right, I will GRADUALLY begin a tapering process to get off of it completely and have my life back 100%. I'm only at 28 mgs. and it helps me just fine. Best wishes to anyone who wants off opiates. By the way, DO NOT do the 21 day detox program for $21. It has a 0% success rate. Perhaps try the maintenance management. There should be a BAART clinic in every city in every state in the US. I personally knew three people that died because they weren't in a BAART program and using illegal opiates. I know five people that very likely would be dead had it not been for BAART. I awoke with a cop standing over me after I stopped breathing. Important note: if an OD victim gets Narcan, and is revived, they are still in grave danger. Many opiates have a longer systemic half than Narcan, and the patient could stop breathing again. After I was revived by Narcan, I had to stay over-night in the ICU on a Narcan drip. Had that not happened, I would have died. The opiate I ODed on was methadone, which has a systemic elimination half life far longer than Narcan. I have actually got money to do things with now. The BART program is amazing program and I I really really do recommend you guys to everybody I come across that needs help. I was in shambles prior to BAART no self respect, lost my family and their respect, did not have a home or decent vehicle my entire life was up in the air I had absolutely no direction. Needless to say after meeting the extremely professional staff with their respectful down to earth attitude they made me feel right at home. Counseling was and is amazing I love being able to speak to someone who understands my struggles. Through the program I was taught to hold my self accountable for my actions among many other well needed life lessons. BAART has been the beginning to my journey but most definitely not the end so I say THANK YOU BAART Porterville 🙏 you are one of the main reasons I am here today. Also please keep in mind BAART just like any other place is closed for most holidays on google It Will say for instance today is (Insert Holiday Name Here) and it may alter the hours that are posted. They were unprofessional and not patient when patience is a must when dealing with mental people like me. I filed a grievance against Jessica to Miranda and Miranda was helpful and understanding. I met Breeonna Friday was very nice and have a zoom meeting tomorrow with her. Remember Jessica and Nicole from Tehachapi are the worst.Breeonna has been sick for a long time and so has my recovery coordinator but I reached out to the office and asked for a fill in therapist and Amber has really helped me with my coping skills. Chica 1 year ago I went in 2017 suicidal, depressed and hopeless. This amazing place changed my life by teaching me DBT and treating me as a welcomed guest. I have friends turned chosen family that I made there. The Staff was knowledgeable, compassionate and understanding. The Hope House was my only experience in the mental health care system. In 2020 I lost my freedom over a lie, I experienced Good Samaritan Hospital and Mary K Shell, horrible experience, night and day, I came home with trauma and triggers by the abuses of Dr. BARNES and the GSH that has no cameras to catch them beating up patients. I wish they can take note of the peaceful, healing, environment the Hope House created and the life saving therapy.
