Unfortunately this is my husband’s second time in rehab, but even hard moments are a blessing. Because of this I was able to distinguish the level of care and attention to his sobriety journey.. My husband came back a new man, he apologized for his behavior, open to family and couples therapy and a better husband and father ❤️‍🩹. This facility not only dealt with his addiction but also focused on the cause of it. His mental health is better than when I first met him. He has a great sobriety tribe from here as well. After leaving we continue to attend the weekly alumni meetings, and will be joining future alumni events.. Golden Road is now part of our lives. The staff is caring the programs legit and doesn't ask too much of you. The detox and the residential houses are super nice. Honestly I cant say enough good things about Avedis. When I arrived at the house I was overwhelmed with how comfortable it felt. I was very well cared for through detoxing; consistently checked on and heard when I had any issues or problems through it. John, the chef, actually came to me everyday and asked what I was able to stomach while going through my withdrawal, he would bring me whatever asked for to help get me through it and get back in my body as soon as possible. Jake and Andrew made me feel comfortable coming to them with any issues or questions and took care of EVERYTHING for me. My only priority thanks to them was to GET BETTER. Once I was able to attend groups I was even more comfortable. EVERY counselor/facilitator was great! Every staff member has the ability to meet you where you are in your recovery. The majority have been in each phase or spot themselves so it’s a genuine feeling of empathy and understanding that they offer. There is also a network of support that grows between the clients and it makes sharing and listening so easy. The entire program is ran in a way that makes recovery there feel less institutionalized and more like just simply self growth and realization. It’s a perfect mix of quiet, slow down personal time and active time. The outings made me realize that there is fun and happiness in sobriety. Maple Moon was my home, when I needed it most.This place changed my life, in all seriousness and honesty they truly did. I will forever be grateful and Maple Moon will forever be a part of my recovery story. Starting from the admissions process until my final day, the Elevation staff went above and beyond. Stephanie, was in charge of my admissions, which she made seamless. Stephanie responded to all my emails and phone calls in a timely fashion and with great care. At the Calabasas house, I had the privilege to have Michele as my therapist. I owe her my life with how attentive and caring she was for me. Michele was compassionate, funny, and direct - something I needed. I could go on and on about how great of a therapist she was for me, but I do not know if there would be enough characters for me to write a review. Thank you Michele. The coaches and chefs, all of whom were therapists within their own right, were fantastic. In a place where you already feeling vulnerable they made it feel like home. Friendly, compassionate, and wonderful human beings overall is not enough to say about them. (Again, worried about the character limit here.) They will book your flights, pick you up at the airport, etc. Additionally, they handle all of the behind-the-scenes parts (i.e. contacting your workplace, paperwork, etc.). The facility for detox / residential is top notch. You get lunch and dinner catered. You can also make a grocery list for them to get for you. The staff is top notch. I was spoiled with how great my case manager was. The medical techs were also great. I had a mental breakdown and one of them brought me into her office to talk be back to sanity. Basically, how it works is you spend thirty days at the detox / residential facility. The first week-ish is your detox. The rest is going to group courses. Once you complete that, you have the option to do their PHP program (residential living). Much more freedom, fewer classes. If you are someone who has had a history with and have gotten out of religion, AA is pushed heavily on you. Thankfully, I was allowed to go another route for semi-daily meetings once I reached the PHP phase. Bring items comforting you. For me, it was definitely a different area than the Midwest. I certainly wish I had brought by blanket that was breathable in the warm climate. All in all, this was a great opportunity to meet new friends AND get out of whichever substance you have had an issue with. Over time, this place became so much more than just a rehab facility to me. The staff truly cared about me as a person, not just another client walking through the door. The support, structure, conversations, and friendships I built there gave me the foundation I needed to finally start over. I’m still sober today, and I constantly think about how different my life could look if I hadn’t made the decision to go to treatment. They had so many resources for me getting my life back on the right track. I found a setting of other guys who had been through so much and were there to listen and to encourage my progress. I honestly felt like staying resort for rehabilitating everything about myself. We did yoga to help the mind and body. We had movie nights to laugh and think and engage in life conversations. The best part was the proximity to the beach. We had a lot of outings and picnics along the Long Beach Shore.
