But the staff there very good care of me and I learned a lot about my addiction that has helped me stay sober now for 76 days today. So if you or a loved one is in need of help from addiction and you’re thinking about treatment then you should consider Sierra Health And Wellness because all the therapist and counselors and the nurses will go out of their way to help you. I’ve never been in an inpatient program. I thought the worst before beginning the program but, I was proven wrong. From the friendliness of the staff to the atmosphere of the clients has been nothing short of amazing. They make you want to be better. If you want a facility that truly cares. The New Bridge environment (residential treatment facility, & extended satellite sober living environment), are safe and clean, and provide the type of space where I was able to successfully focus on, addiction & mental health curriculums, group therapy, as well as personalized "one-on-one" therapy/counseling sessions. Additionally, the treatment facility environment is supportive of "peer-to-peer" feed back & coping skills, "focus" and "affirmation tools".., all (to which I found) have great value in early recovery...! What I enjoyed most about New Bridge is the dignified and professional way each staff member treated me, and treated me as valued (from the newest staff member, to the kitchen staff, to nurse staff, maintenance staff, the on-site doctors, to group staff, the clinical coordinator staff, the assistant director, up to the director). These staff members, all, display a "real human" level of authenticity and care...! I'm truly happy that I chose New Bridge..!!! This place feels very homey, but at the same time it’s definitely high-end and has a lot of amenities that I don’t think you’d find at many other inpatient rehabs, like a theater room, jacuzzi, gym, resources, beautiful rooms. It’s also really beautiful and peaceful here, which has helped a lot during this process. The group therapy sessions are very intimate, and the people in group are genuinely non-judgmental. I work with Kristine, who has been amazing. Just graduated IOP and i feel confident with getting out there and working on my sobriety personally. Dr. Smeester (“Dan”) is great. He has a very warm and gentle presence, and it’s clear that he really cares about helping people who are struggling with addiction. He doesn’t judge. he listens carefully and accommodates any extra need you need. I had a great experience, and learned a lot. They provide aftercare for all graduates no matter when they graduated. I personally continue to attend aftercare every Wednesday, free of charge. I had been with his wife Dr Gutierrez for years (she is also the best and a amazing Dr!! I began working with Dr Smeester and have been with him for a few years now. I had an insurance issue that I could see caused a lot of problems for the staff by the amount of time I spent with Jacky and the case manager in the office. To begin, when I was first getting checked in, a girl was on her way out literally crying with gratitude for how much this place saved her life. You could tell how genuine and appreciative she was. Pros to going to Palm Ave: -The staff is great, they genuinely care and all are in recovery themselves so they’re very empathetic. -It’s small, so if you’re someone who is anxious or nervous, don’t be. If I had to guess I’d say they can only hold up to about 15-20 at most and that’s a huge positive when you’re not at your best at don’t want to be around a hundred other people. -Food was very clean, healthy, and always available. -Meds are all taken care of for you, they’ll even pick up your prescriptions and make sure you get them on time, even if you’re asleep, they’re on top of it. -There’s really only one mandatory meeting (NA/AA) but several groups which are optional that I found really helpful and well led. -They don’t press you on where or when you need to be somewhere like other treatment centers do. If you need to sleep- you can sleep. Special shout out to Christian (who helped with meds, he always has good music playing and just a very positive vibe). Also, Tree. I spent ten minutes talking to this man and gained more perspective than I have in probably the last three years. Heather also, very chill and easy to talk to. These people really care. They’ve completely turned their lives around and some have come from really difficult pasts. It’s inspiring to hear their stories. Not to turn this into a novel but I’m just really stoked places like this exist- and free no less with medi-cal. To finish, if you’re struggling at all, just go for a few days. Classes are set up and offered throughout the day to ensure that you have some tools when you leave. There is medical on sight and a caseworker who jumps through hoops to make sure that each client has access to all the available resources in the county. The withdrawal was the scariest thing that I've ever been through but they used medically assisted treatment to taper me off. I went through hell and back but they almost got me through it. Luckily they knew how to treat me. They sent me to the mental health department when things got really bad and then I came back for the rest of my treatment. The groups and counselors are great and very informative and educational. The nurses on the other hand were horrible and didnt understand what was happening with me during withdrawal. I told them I was hallucinating and scared and didn't know where I was in the middle of the night but they just told me to go back to my room. I begged for help and was scared to death but they wouldn't help me. They ended up transporting me to mental health when I was blacked out and out of control.
