About LifeStance Therapists & Psychiatrists Walnut Creek

Bright Heart Health offers virtual intensive outpatient and outpatient services.

The intensive outpatient program at Bright Heart Health offers up to ten hours of treatment per week. Nine hours are spent in group therapy and one hour is spent in individual therapy with a therapist. Group sessions are three hours long. Once a month each individual will also receive a dietary session with a registered dietician to support daily health needs.

The opioid treatment program at Bright Heart Health is offered for those who need to overcome opioid addiction. Physicians prescribe and monitor medications that allow individuals to stop abusing opioids without experiencing intense drug cravings or severe withdrawal symptoms. Counselors meet with individuals online via telemedicine to help identify and develop strategies to deal with the issues and disorders that may have contributed to opioid abuse.

Group therapy involves treatment through the process of connecting in a group setting to discuss and work through mental, emotional, and physical issues. There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. At Bright Hearth Health, group therapy includes support, educational tools, and encouragement through interactive, live video conferencing with peers. All groups are private and pre-registration is required.

Individual therapy creates the space to explore the psychological challenges associated with the addiction. With the help of a professional, individuals are given the space and direction to talk about and process their emotions. Often this includes unresolved trauma, anger, depression, anxiety, and the need for more control or autonomy in life. Therapy is provided through interactive, live video conferencing with a mental health professional.

William Fox is who I seen . It was my first appointment. He was kind and compassionate and is very good. He is very experienced and knows what he is doing. I have had so many counselors and he was in the top 2. We talked about things that I haven’t talked about or been asked. I know now where my trauma stemmed from the exact moment it all began. I believe my trauma caused all my health conditions. He helped me so much in just that first session. It was extremely hard but worth it.

I appreciate Cindy and all she has done for me. She listens , she does her due diligence, she’s very knowledgeable , and she takes the time to get to know her patients. Where I am now, compared to where I was a year ago. I wouldn’t have been able to get through this without her Thank you Cindy B.

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. I am a single mom just trying to get my kids some therapy. This has to be the most disgusting service I’ve ever used. I can’t believe this is how a company that is supposed to “help” with mental health issues is creating more for some. This feels like a way to make quick money by scamming patients. I had my daughter seeing a Dr with LifeStance for meds. She was great the first 3 times. Her fourth appointment was a mess. My daughter tried to jump on her telehealth appointment. She was having such a difficult time, having to fill out their form for checking FOUR TIMES!!!! which I might add she did the night before. After finally getting through she waited 20 mins in the waiting room. I tried to call several times but got the run around on the self automated service. I gave up and thought we would have received a call, email or text asking if we were having difficulties. Nothing. Then I send a message through the portal about the $150 no show charge. Called twice and spoke to someone and how they saw the messages on the chart and will flag it so someone will take of it. Weeks later I am still with no answer. Then I get a email saying her Dr left the practice. Makes me think they marked us as a “no show” to charge us. Someone called us and we found a new Dr! Great news, so I thought. Just a couple hours ago very similar situation. I called LifeStance twice and they said try and get ahold of them????? And wait 15 mins for them to show up?!? What?!?? Waited forever and never saw someone. And guess what?! No one reached out again. So I’m sure there will be another $150 “no show”charge. I have seen a therapist for ten years. A few. Never ever ever have I not had someone contact me and ask am I have technical difficulties or running late? It’s unreal that this place can’t even do that. If you have made it this far on my review, please do everyone a favor, file a report on the better business bureau against LifeStance. I highly recommend finding another service to use. We patients deserve better.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Rehab aftercare programs offer clients in addiction recovery a robust continuum of care after clients have completed active treatment. These services address recovery as a life-long process and are designed to evolve with clients' changing needs. Clients may partner with their case managers and/or addiction recovery team to identify the rehab aftercare services that are right for them. They may receive career counseling, housing assistance, peer coaching, 12 step program induction, among many other services.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

When an individual is in denial about their substance use disorder, their loved ones may organize a drug intervention in California. This effort involves gently but assertively confronting the individual about their substance use and sharing how it has affected those who care about them. A professional interventionist may also attend this gathering. Their expertise with intervention services can prove helpful in guiding the conversation to a positive result.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

When addicted, quitting your drug of choice suddenly can be dangerous. That's why experts agree a medically assisted detox is the safest way to remove addictive substances from the body. Usually done in an inpatient setting, your vitals signs and overall well being are consistently monitored and rechecked in order to keep you safe and ensure the detox is successful.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in California is a method that therapists often use for the effective treatment of substance use disorders. It is based on the principle that substance abuse stems from unhelpful ways of thinking and patterns of behavior, which can be changed by helping the individual learn better ways of coping.

During group therapy, men and women learn to express their emotions openly in a non judgmental setting. This helps you process your feelings and reduces feelings of social isolation that are often associated with addiction.

Individual therapy for drug addiction includes a customized treatment plan that considers your history and life circumstances. During your therapy sessions, the therapist helps you uncover underlying issues and triggers for addictive behavior that support a holistic approach to recovery.

For clients who are struggling with ambivalence toward change, motivational interviewing in California can help strengthen their commitment to change. Using a conversational method, the therapist helps you explore your motivations and empowers you to make the changes you desire.

Trauma therapy is a structured approach used by therapists to help you heal from a past traumatic event. Your therapist works with you to identify the traumatic memory and process the information so you experience emotional healing and a sense of safety and stability.

While in rehab treatment, you may work on developing various life skills to help you in long term recovery. These may include resilience, interpersonal skills, and self awareness. The focus will be on developing healthy habits for self care and relationships so you have the skills you need to manage day to day life.
