The BHTs, cleaning personal, maintenance crew, and kitchen staff took a personal interest in my recovery and with my aftercare plan. My amazing team at Banyan included Ebony as my caseload manager, and Katrina as my therapist. John, the administrator of the treatment center is present almost daily and he follows through as did the rest of my team and other faculty associates. Jeff facilitates using research based, empirical experiences, and humor for his morning group. Nick who works in the maintenance department was an influential figure during my full stay. I found the accommodations to be nice and adequate, but not luxury, more like a nice dorm with a meeting area and kitchen. We had mostly 2 to a room and a patio area. The oversight was there, but not overbearing. The staff are so nice and caring; from the techs to nursing, the instructors, counselors and even the cafeteria staff. After 3 weeks in residential I moved to PHP, which is a great intensive learning environment. I live nearby so I went home, but many people go to Daisy Lane, which is a nice housing site for sober living. After PHP, there is another step down to IOP, which I intend to go to as well to complete my treatment. The grounds are just beautiful with lush green grass against a backdrop of gorgeous mountains. The cafeteria is great with a variety of fresh foods and daily changing salad bar. I have really enjoyed my stay and experience here and I have been clean and sober for over 60 days now. A few weeks later I was in worse condition. Louise the Clinical Director reached out to me and was authentically concerned and wanted to help me. The moment I arrived back the staff and community was nothing but loving and kind.Finally I found a place to heal and deal w grief, self love, triggers and coping skills. The programming includes a variety of groups that address different parts of recovery, including Somatics, DBT, Mindfulness, and Process Group. Process Group is especially valuable because it consists of two hours of smaller group therapy with your therapist, allowing for more personal and in-depth conversations. Outside of groups, Michael's House provides case management and individual therapy, along with access to psychiatric and medical providers. There are also educational groups covering a wide variety of topics and real-life issues that may come up throughout someone's recovery journey. Recovery involves so much more than simply addressing one problem—it also means learning how to navigate life moving forward. Another thing that stands out is the specialty programming. Outside community resources are brought in to educate clients on important topics. For example, DAP Health has provided education surrounding sexual wellness, while PNC Bank has helped teach financial wellness. Having community organizations come in makes the program feel more connected to life outside of treatment and provides tools that can actually be used after leaving. There is also a separate campus for housing, which adds another important part to the experience. During your free time, you have opportunities to begin reintegrating into the real world instead of feeling completely isolated from it. You can explore different recovery meetings in the area, meet people within the local recovery community, and start creating a strong support system outside of treatment. I think that's extremely valuable because eventually treatment ends, and having a community and support network already forming can make that transition feel much more manageable. It gives you the chance to practice recovery in everyday life while still having the structure and support of the program behind you. There are also some staff members who deserve special recognition: Kenn — He has the kind of personality that can make even the most mundane topic interesting and enjoyable. He knows how to keep people engaged while still making sure there's something meaningful to take away from the group. Teddy — The Alumni Coordinator who plans weekly events off campus. His sense of humor brings light to every trip, and the outings give people an opportunity to have fun, connect with others, and experience recovery outside of a clinical setting. Dee — A pit bull of a case manager in the best possible way. She will help you fight for what you want and need and genuinely advocates for the people she works with. She is a true humanitarian who cares about helping people move forward. Jesus — One of the realest therapists you will ever meet. He has an incredible balance between humor and seriousness and seems like he has seen it all. His compassion, understanding, and willingness to help are off the charts. He knows when to make you laugh, when to challenge you, and when to simply listen. Overall, Michael's House offers much more than just hours of programming. Between therapy, case management, medical and psychiatric support, educational groups, community resources, housing, and staff who genuinely bring their own personalities and strengths to the program, there are a lot of opportunities to learn and grow. Donald Wilson 5 months ago Before I entered ABC Recovery I couldn't even walk on my own. I had to use a walker and was on 3 liters of oxygen 24/7. I could only go 20 yards before having to stop and catch my breath. I started to have seizures and felt like I was on the cusp of death. After one month there I could walk without the walker and was down to only being on oxygen 6 hours a day. They accommodated me by giving me a downstairs room in the courage house because I have congestive heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Every meal was good if not great, there was never any meal put in front of me that was not edible. The nursing staff never had anything more than a smile when dealing with me and I was a high maintenance client. They made many appointments for me and got me there on time and back with minimum waiting. I had the best counselor Sarah , who played a huge part in saving my life by teaching me coping skills needed to live clean and sober. My county worker was excellent and found me the best sober living that I could ever be placed at. My case manager and family counselor were both extremely helpful. Everyone that works there including the techs really seem like they care. I felt very safe and secure there and was taught a lot and felt a lot of love and care from everyone . I came here during the hardest and darkest time of my life, and I truly don’t know where I’d be without them. My therapist was absolutely life-changing. Every group felt intentional and was tailored to what the clients needed that day instead of following a rigid plan. I always felt heard, understood, and supported. What also stood out was how deeply every staff member cared. From the leadership team to the front desk, everyone knew my name, remembered things about me, and genuinely cared about how I was doing.
