This is usually the time I would look for something to lift my mood. Depression gets the best of me and I spiral. I was able to really open up there. I was able to unload and place a lot of my unresolved feelings aside. They really have wonderful people there. If you're serious about getting rid of whatever it is you need to get rid of.. I came in with an overwhelming fear following traumatic events and engaging in treatment programs that were far less than ideal. However, I experienced a wave of relief once I found that this is a place of complete safety. One of the best things about The Meadowglade is that every member of the treatment team comes in with a unique approach and expertise, ranging from EMDR, CBT, DBT, IFS, eating disorders, exposures, somatic therapy, and being tall. Because of this, there was never a sense of boredom or uselessness in the care I received. I share special applause and shoutouts to my personal therapists, Jasmine and Matthew, for learning about and engaging in my specific needs. They indulged in my chaotic side while also helping me learn social skills including when it is and isn’t appropriate to be completely out of pocket. From the moment I arrived, I felt genuinely cared for, supported, and understood in a way I’ve never experienced at any other treatment center. Tiffany, the program manager, is truly exceptional. Her compassion, leadership, and dedication to every single client create a foundation of trust and safety that makes healing possible. She goes above and beyond, and it shows in every aspect of the program. The psych techs here are the heart and soul of this place. They don’t just do their jobs—they genuinely care. Their kindness, patience, and constant support create an environment where you feel seen, heard, and valued every single day. I especially want to give a heartfelt shoutout to Hunter, Ni, Kajsa, Shafali, and Stephanie—both the weekday and night staff. They are absolutely incredible. If it weren’t for them, my experience would not have been the same. They are truly the foundation of this program and play such a huge role in making it a safe, healing, and supportive space. The therapists and the group sessions are also phenomenal. Every group feels intentional and meaningful, and they truly help you move forward in your healing journey. You can tell that the entire team is deeply invested in each client’s growth and recovery. She is amazing. She is there from the beginning to the end if you need anything. The first person I met at rise was Nam. He is the man he’s there for you all the time he works 20 hours a day. The man is amazing. Next, I met Zac the nurse he’s such a cool dude and listens to you and takes whatever concerns you have and it gets it fixed for you. As far as nurses Daisy, David and Nina were great. If you have real medical issues, I would not go there Dr.Raskin is a first class clown. The first time I met him, he spoke to me in the kitchen for 30 seconds and ran away. The next time I saw him was on Zoom for about 60 seconds and he got off. I had a lot of medical issues and he was not there for me. I was very disappointed in that. I refuse to see him after that that’s one of the few bad things about Rise is the doctor. If he was my employee he’d be fired. I complained about him a lot. The counselor Michael, Josh And Beth were great they listen to you and make you feel like they are helping you out. A special shout out to Cat My hippie dippy friend she is the one who does yoga and meditation. I never did that in my life before I’m an older man and she was amazing. I’m from the East Coast. The food was not that great. I was disappointed in that they have a private chef. James was the best chef That’s the only thing I could say about the food. Very disappointing. That being said, I would definitely go to Rise. They save my marriage and they save my life. Thank you to the team if I left anybody out, I’m sorry. For me, one of those people has always been Ron and the entire team at Rise in Malibu. I’ve known Ron for a while , and through every chapter, he has remained someone who genuinely cares, shows up, and sees the person beneath the struggle. That kind of authenticity is rare. His leadership and heart are reflected throughout the entire program and staff. Dr. Mark, Sheri, and everyone at Rise create an environment that is compassionate, professional, supportive, and deeply human. They don’t treat people like problems to fix they treat them like people worth fighting for. That distinction matters more than words can explain. What makes Rise special is that it never felt transactional to me. It felt personal. Real care, real connection, real support, and people who continue to stay connected long after treatment ends. That says everything. And for me personally, recovery wasn’t something that necessarily “landed” the very first time. Sometimes the spiritual experience happens when it’s truly ready to happen. What I can say today, sitting here over 16 months sober, is that Rise helped give me the tools, foundation, support, and perspective that allowed that change to finally take root in a real way. When the moment came, I knew how to move forward because of what I had learned there. That’s something I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life! I can honestly say I would recommend Rise in Malibu to anyone looking for genuine help, guidance, and people who truly care about recovery and human beings as a whole. Unfortunately this is my husband’s second time in rehab, but even hard moments are a blessing. Because of this I was able to distinguish the level of care and attention to his sobriety journey.. My husband came back a new man, he apologized for his behavior, open to family and couples therapy and a better husband and father ❤️‍🩹. This facility not only dealt with his addiction but also focused on the cause of it. His mental health is better than when I first met him. He has a great sobriety tribe from here as well. I was 17 when I went to hillcrest treatment facility and heavily addicted to substances. As soon as I stepped inside I was welcome in with open arms. We had fresh meals made daily, fitness, and as well as other activities to get my natural dopamine back up, I made lifelong friendships and lifelong heart touching memories. It was the best time of my life and I stayed sober ever since then and I am 20 now, I bought my own car and I will be moving out into my own apartment soon. The caregivers and therapists and everyone involved was amazing and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I wasn’t able to keep in contact with them due to rules but I think about the caregivers, therapists and my experience that I had there every single day, it was so touching that every day I strive to do better because I think about all the people that helped me at hillcrest, eventually if possible I would even like to get a job there to help kids like I was helped. It was the most amazing heart warming experience I’ve had in my entire life and I would recommend this place a million times to anyone. My addiction had taken over my entire life and I had absolutely zero hope for my future. The second I stepped off of the plane I was met with a smiling face from the kindest person I had met in a long time. I was instantly taken care of and felt safe. When I arrived at the house I was overwhelmed with how comfortable it felt. I was very well cared for through detoxing; consistently checked on and heard when I had any issues or problems through it. John, the chef, actually came to me everyday and asked what I was able to stomach while going through my withdrawal, he would bring me whatever asked for to help get me through it and get back in my body as soon as possible. Jake and Andrew made me feel comfortable coming to them with any issues or questions and took care of EVERYTHING for me. My only priority thanks to them was to GET BETTER. Once I was able to attend groups I was even more comfortable. EVERY counselor/facilitator was great! Every staff member has the ability to meet you where you are in your recovery. The majority have been in each phase or spot themselves so it’s a genuine feeling of empathy and understanding that they offer. There is also a network of support that grows between the clients and it makes sharing and listening so easy. The entire program is ran in a way that makes recovery there feel less institutionalized and more like just simply self growth and realization. It’s a perfect mix of quiet, slow down personal time and active time. The outings made me realize that there is fun and happiness in sobriety. Maple Moon was my home, when I needed it most.This place changed my life, in all seriousness and honesty they truly did. After struggling with some significant trauma, the counselors that worked with my son were truly wonderful. The weekend activities were excellent including boating and trips to amusement parks. During the week, he learned to surf, completed his school curriculum so that he could graduate from his regular education elementary school, and took hikes at beautiful locations around Malibu. He loved the food, and participated in group and music therapy as well as individual counseling. We spoke on the phone most nights and had great weekend visits. My son is now a thriving 7th grader, enjoying school and close relationships with his friends. I would encourage anyone struggling to give your child the gift of this healing environment. I had reached out to Wish after being assaulted by a staff member at another program ( not affiliated with Wish) within 20 minutes of my call James had sent a uber to pick me up. Then between James and Fran they made sure my medications and the rest of my property were picked up. I was never made to feel like I was an inconvenience and my concerns were addressed without hesitation. Mike J 1 month ago I went to Evolve Ojai back in February of this year. I had never been in a residential treatment center and I was really nervous, however I did go voluntarily. My experience wasn’t terrible. There were pros and cons for sure, these were: Pros: Really good food Outings were fun If you were level 3 and above, you could go on off site visitations with your family Cons: Leveled me down on my last week while I had been withdrawing from two meds (Abilify and Zoloft) Made me sit through an intense PTSD flashback and didn’t let me do anything to distract myself (it was to practice a skill, but i really needed help and i felt very distressed) Tried to punish me and make me stay an extra week for feeling suicidal after leveling me down Didn’t really do much when another kid was making me feel uncomfortable by making me feel overstimulated But it was not a very bad experience. I have found that they offer an excellent, state of the art dual diagnosis treatment program that embraces a research evidence based treatment approach that encompasses multiple types of treatment modalities that can be tailored to fit each client’s specific and unique needs. I have utilized the services of many different similar programs for my clients, but my experiences with Avalon Malibu have been without equal. The professional staff are well trained and experienced, and provide a warm and supportive treatment environment. All the staff and counselors were extremely professional and took pride in there jobs. All the houses have something cool to offer, I stayed at the house with an incredible 180 degree view of the Malibu shoreline and woke up to the ocean and sky every day. The staff is very accommodating and all take recovery seriously. Shout out to John and Julie and Brian and Nicole and Dr. Morrow! The groups are well facilitated and small and I always looked forward to the holistics. The food is good for the most part, the desserts with dinner were always incredible. Fun outings and beach walks helped break up long weeks of groups. I only wish we got to use the pool more, only one house has the pool.
