KAISER PERMANENTE is AWESOME and I have never been let down. The STAFF, NURSES, DOCTORS etc. are FABULOUS in every way. If I need something, it isn't a problem, no matter what. Everything is FAST, if you're Doctor or Nurse, etc. Says I need something, whatever it may be, there is no waiting period, it happens right away.

During these two weeks in October 2017, I was dealing with a lot on my plate. I would have frequent-daily anxiety/panic attacks and was unable to sleep for a week straight.
After speaking with my personal physician (wonderful by the way, that department has their things down), he recommended that I take melatonin to see if it would work.
Unfortunately, it didn't, and he deemed that it would be beneficial to schedule an appointment with their Mental Health Department. I called the number and scheduled an initial appointment with Dr. Lucy Watkins in November 2017.
A week before the appointment, I received an email showing that my scheduled date changed.
I didn't receive a call, an email, a text, or have any correspondence regarding this change.
I made a call and the receptionist said that Dr. Watkin's cannot see me because she will be on vacation then, very last minute, and apologized.
I changed my schedule and decided to see her in December 2017.
After submitting my request for the day off, I woke up a bit later than usual, since the appointment was around 9:30/10, and I didn't need to wake up at the same time I normally do for work.
They called at 8:30/9, and told me that Dr. Watkin's was sick and had to cancel.
No attempt to reschedule. Nothing.
At this point, the unpredictability and hassle of trying to set up an appointment was worse than what I was facing at the time.
I decided to let it be.
Then more crises happen.
When things don't get resolved, it manifests in different ways.
So early July, I decided to call again to try to schedule an appointment - the first one.
They assigned me Dr. Andrea Parsons for Wednesday 8/1
Now... two days before the appointment (7/30) they just decided to randomly switch it to 8/2 at 10:45 without consulting me first.
This is unprofessional, unacceptable, and unheard of.
People have jobs, families, responsibilities, and schedules to tend to.
I am very disappointed in Kaiser for letting this slide under the radar and for letting this happen.
It's already hard enough to get people to be self-aware enough to go to therapy... why make this such a hurdle?

This is an absolutely wonderful facility for detox programs. The staff is kind and incredibly attentive and the food is amazing. Heartwood provides a very relaxed environment for you to undergo a medically assisted detox taper program that I personally found highly affective. My withdrawal symptoms were minimal and the taper itself wasn’t challenging at all. One of the nurses, Meredith, is absolutely incredible in her attention to your specific needs and feelings. She is very empathetic and understanding in addition to being friendly and easy to talk to casually while receiving your treatment. She is an absolute professional and excels at what she does. In my opinion she made the difference in bumping the review from four stars up to five. I had a great experience at their inpatient and outpatient programs. They have an In house chef and the food is outstanding. The rooms are comfortable. The counselors are caring and have deep knowledge about the recovery process and provide great classes daily. CRC saved my life once again. I was here in August for 33 days. I gained so much knowledge of many coping skills, relapse prevention, what to do upon graduating. ...I unfortunately relapsed, consumed more alcohol than I ever have in my life for 7 days. It's like I went from 0 to 60. ...The problem was: I NEVER UTILIZED THOSE COPING SKILLS. I NEVER GOT A SPONSOR. I NEVER WENT TO OUTSIDE MEETINGS. I DID NOT PROGRAM. Granted, I attended their incredible aftercare program of 30 hours a week, once I left the 6 hour a day class - I DIDN'T PROGRAM! Upon graduating today, by the grace of God and CRC, I already have a sponsor, I've actually opened & read some of the Big Book, they are personally transferring me door to door to their aftercare. They are so many wonderful and grateful words that I could go on and on and about CRC. Without the dedication & guidance & sincere concern and knowledge from management, counselors and medical staff, I honestly don't believe I'd be here to write this. I will not give up. I'm happy today. And most importantly, I'm SOBER!

I was at 815 Buena Vista however have been to 890 in the past. 815 is boys and girls while 890 is just guys but they have a gym and a pool table.
For intake, meaning you're staying for detox which is 5 days or staying 90 days you'll need to go through intake. Show up at 8:30am. Trust me you'll save yourself hours and getting from intake to your bed can take the whole day so showing up early is important.
There are 2 mandatory classes you have to attend not to be kicked out. One in the morning and one in the evening
Set alarms on your phone for everything. Eating, pills, classes and snack time.
Never disrespect your instructor. If he has his way of doing things then follow it even if your way is better. Many of them came from where you are a few years prior so they have no problem getting ghetto with you for not following the rules.
Buy your own pillow and blanket. If you're in detox you'll need 3 blankets and still cold. I wore my jacket to bed.
Utalize the therapists that are there for you. You need to sign up for this individually. Nobody is going to tell you.
If you need a license or ID from DMV get a voucher from your councilor.
Every package you get will be inspected.
For snacks I recommend ordering from Amazon. Then when the snacks show up you need to play dumb. Make up an excuse like this was sent to me. It's ok. Store the snacks in your personal bin. Then when the guy who's working is cool go say you need your bin. Then load up your snacks in your bag then bring them upstairs. Snacks! I recommend hiding these from staff room searches.
You can vape weed. You'll have to sneak it in but I highly recommend it. There are giant windows always open in your room and bathroom. Go to the bathroom unless your roommates are cool otherwise vape from your bed.
Hide your stash. People steal
Get a tripod for your cellphone so you can watch TV or movies
Bring a large coffee or insulated mug larger than 20 ozs. You're going to need it.
You need minimal clothes. Clothes are washed every day and delivered to you.
Bring smokes and some lighters even if you don't smoke. Menthol a plus
You'll have a lot of time to work out your life. Make the most of it

Despite this place being a small health clinic, the medical staff does step up with their professionalism. Supposedly, this place is meant for those who are looking to solve their addict problem. At the same time though, people can see a physician here for a physical check up. Truly appreciate their professionalism from the personnel returning phone calls when people leave them messages, to the personnel being able to give patients their diagnostic. People can even contact the medical staff via email. There is parking available but, it is limited due to the space being small.

I did an intake on 8/16/23 & was unsure what to expect. The facility is very clean and homelike. I looked for every reason to leave and regain my freedom although I was not ready. My advice is to stay an follow through with the program it's a phenomenal program. Not to mention they feed the residents really well. 🙂

This place is so amazing. This was my very first time on a 72 hour hold in a psychiatric facility so of course I was really nervous. The floor staff is amazing and very comforting. There was times where I was emotional and they would give me a hug and give me words of encouragement. The nurses are so sweet and really listened to what I needed. I felt very seen and heard by my social worker and psychiatrist. They really worked with me on a great treatment plan. I felt very happy here. The food was really good and I was very well fed. All the staff here is amazing. I loved the activities they had for us. I got to do drawing, outdoor time, coloring, yoga, etc. I enjoyed my time here very much and if any of the staff are seeing this review I just want to say THANK YOU. You all truly saved my life.

I was hospitalized here after going through Hell at two Kaiser EDs. The staff was wonderful and supportive. The staff helped me to feel comfortable and well cared for. My needs were met and I felt it was a safe place for those who needed a greater amount of care and supervision. The groups were very generalized for the wide range of patients whom were housed there. This is a facility that is meant for people who are at risk of hurting themselves or others and/or need to get regulated on their medications. It is meant to be a stepping stone to get more help after you are no longer a risk. I feel the perception of most of the poor reviews are from people who are fighting against what they need rather those who are seeking help.

There is no way to describe how grateful I am for the team at Pathways for the guidance and support they provided. Pathways Recovery Gave Us Our Daughter Back
When my daughter showed up at Pathways Recovery, she was drinking 10 Fireballs a day—plus gin. She was completely broken, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. As a parent, it’s heartbreaking to watch your child spiral like that and feel powerless to help. We were desperate for something or someone who could reach her.
From the very first phone call, Jennifer in admissions was amazing. She treated us with kindness and compassion, and she made us feel like there was still hope. Getting our daughter admitted felt like the first step toward saving her life.
The team at Pathways took her in, detoxed her safely, and showed her a new way to live—a life that doesn’t include alcohol. They didn’t just help her stop drinking; they helped her rediscover herself. They gave her tools, structure, and support to start healing from the inside out.
What meant so much to us was how responsive and communicative the staff was. They kept us informed, answered every question, and genuinely cared about our daughter’s well-being. We could feel that she wasn’t just another client—she was someone they truly wanted to help.
The facility itself is peaceful and comfortable—a large, beautiful home tucked into the foothills outside Roseville, with a pool and a calm, healing atmosphere. It was the perfect place for her to start over.
Thanks to Pathways Recovery, we have our daughter back. She’s sober, she’s grounded, and she’s finally living again. We’ll be forever grateful to Jennifer and everyone at Pathways for helping our family find hope again
