I came to a point in my life where I was done with drinking and figured I knew nothing about sobriety I could easily do 90 days to a year without Alcohol Yet I could not sustain it. I reached out to my son who had spent sometime on the business side of recovery and knew of all the recovery centers in So Cal. He highly recommended Valley Recovery Center for which I’m grateful and appreciative of.. It was a big step and I was ready to be Sober. It was a bit humbling for me but I was willing to do the work….Giving it all the percent I had I really believe I did my 30 days with a really great group of gentlemen in recovery as well which the counselors kept commenting on the chemistry we had. And being the best group they had in a long time!! The facility was top notch and I took full advantage of all the exercise equipment,weights, pool for swimming and the almost quarter mile circular driveway..They have a couple of steep hills on property as well..I lost 30lbs while I was there… I took the opportunity to get fit while becoming sober of mind, spirit and body…and decided to make fitness part of my sobriety journey!! Some of my recovery mates made comments like What’s up..I told them I was training for the fight of my life…The fight would be with sobriety when I left there…Funny how some of them started working out the same way! The counselors, instructors,therapist and Dr.’s were great..Tough at times but great..I always got the feeling while there that they were always rooting for me!! I’ve been sober almost 3 years..I haven’t been perfect and had 2 falls that lasted less than a week each..I was able to right myself immediately from the thing I learned the most at VCR…To build a network around you in case you fall and for me stick to a routine of taking care of yourself… The other thing that still sticks with me everyday was that day in recovery when I finally/truly learned the word shame ..I couldn’t even say the word…That was a real fight for me and took a couple of days to sink in but when it did and I came to understand it and admit it was the day that I no longer had that unknowing thing that gnawed at me and would get me all twisted at times and I would need to drink it away and reset my unconscious mind…. Anyways..Recovery is one step at a time and a great 1st step is wanting to be sober and the second great step would be toward Valley Recovery Center!!! (Btw-One of the best things about being there is having a cook on hand for all 3 meals…The food while there was the best) Also know if you choose this Sobering Journey that for me now..Everyday I wake up is the greatest day I’ll ever live..Best wishes to you!!

great environment. Lots of education classes- brain disease about a lot. Mental Health and medical services on site. length of stay varies for everyone- patient centered. Rustic cabins (old) but good services, Drug Medi-cal paid for my stay! Counselor had a masters degree and is a certified counselor (They all are!). Electronic records and use of ASAM makes for long intakes and sessions- but worth it. Helped me with sober living referral. Classes in Relapse Prevention, Trauma, Living Skills, Anger management, Women's Issues, Creative Expression, Aerobics, Mindfulness. Loved all of the women's program staff. You could tell they cared cause they stayed on us, made me learn to practice honesty and responsibility in my recovery!

I’d like to start off by saying that if it wasn’t for Alta Centers, I’d either be in jail or worse. I definitely wouldn’t be honored with an opportunity to leave this review. Alta Centers and its professional Staff literally save my life. They didn’t turn their back on me when I showed up in a drunken blackout. Not once but four times within a span of one week. Apparently I kept leaving and have little to no memory of these events. Today I admit to my inappropriate behavior because the person that was broken and in a dark place the day I showed up is not the sober person that’s leaving this review. The Staff literally cared and showed me love throughout my stay there because I didn’t have it for myself. Everyone played a VITAL role in my Recovery, Shannon, my Case Manager pulling me aside several times during my stay and helped me come up with a solid plan for my discharge, and after Care, Lee, Alta Center’s Chef by convincing me to return to Alta Centers during my drunken binge and providing top-notch meals on a daily, Ana, the owner for showing compassion and Care for me and allowed space for any concerns that me or the other clients needed. Ilya, my Therapist, who really provided a safe place for me to vent, keeping me engaged in my concerns or problems and providing me with useful feedback, Jordan Jackson, T, Carboni, Jolyon, for feedback when I was questioning things about myself, or my progress. Keely for her world of knowledge and insight to my situation. Jade for providing me with ideas on how to approach my issues pertaining to my relationship with my daughter. Deanne for providing an ear for me to vent and giving me no BS kinda feedback. Maxine for helping me see hope when I couldn’t see or feel it for myself. Silvia, Alta Centers nurse for not only caring for me, but being present if I’d needed to vent. Other Staff members who moved on to bigger and better things in their respective lives, Eden, Lee, Jennie, page Alex and others who left a huge imprint in my life. I could write so much more but the blessings provided to me by this place. If you’ve read this far, thank you for your time, patience and I’m guessing you get the point that I’m trying to make. Alta Centers wasn’t just a rehab for me. It became my home away from home and inherited lifelong friendships. I don’t say it lightly when I tell you this place is and it’s Prifessional Staff literally save my life and probably kept me away from a prison sentence. If you know you know and you know who you are lol. Thank you for not letting me drive that day. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to each and everyone of you. I will forever be indebted to you guys/gals for giving me my life back and loving me when I couldn’t love myself, let alone look at myself in the mirror. Lastly, if you want to sober up and need professional Staff who really do care and don’t shoot their wounded, then Alta Centers is the place you need to go to. Be forewarned, the desperation and work needs to come from you. Surrender to the process and watch how your life and the lives of your Love ones, who were caught in the crossfire, blossoms before in your eyes

This is an amazing place with amazing people. Spark to Recovery helped me tremendously. The Director who runs it is extremely compassionate and caring. Please do not hesitate to reach out to them if you need help. I have gained so much thanks to them.

Coming here has been one of the greatest decisions I’ve ever made for myself. Everyone makes sure that you feel comfortable and happy. The food is great! The groups are made to be fun and relaxing and have helped me understand a lot about myself that I didn’t know. I am now home and have a full recovery plan. I can’t wait for this new part in my life. I came from the Van nuys high road program because they close down. I then joined the Pasadena high road program. The customer service here at the Pasadena high road program is above and beyond. Here at this program You're not just a number they actually care about you and they'll do what they can to help you which is amazing. If you have to go here to take classes Candy, I believe is the best facilitator.

I am so blessed, and thankful for this program. I highly recommend it and it is the best thing that people should know and learn.

This program is very useful for changing your perspective not only on drinking and driving but the health consequences caused by alcohol consumption and abuse.
