Tommy and Hew were such an inspirational component to getting Heather the help she needed and presented everything in a very supportive & compassionate way.
While in SD Detox something shifted for my wife, she’s been in other programs in the past but there was something different about SDD. She was finally ready and in perfect timing was in the right surroundings for her to feel safe enough to let go and be vulnerable… She was able to get down to causes and conditions and as a result is a lot happier and more present at home and at peace within her new found Journey in sobriety.
I can’t thank the team at SDD enough for everything! It’s amazing to have my wife back! 🙏😇💛🤟🫡

I’ve struggled with addiction for MANY years. Been in and out of rehabs over the past 10 years. I originally came to SDD for only a couple days. I ended up staying longer because for once I was getting the help I truly needed. The facility itself is incredibly comfortable. The staff and counselors showed how much they care. I was able to open up about a lot of my traumas, and received help specifically for them. If I had the means, I would’ve stayed longer. In fact, many of the group I was in did have the means and stayed longer. It just felt good to have an environment that allowed me to be open and honest, and without judgement. I’m incredibly grateful and thankful for SDD. I highly recommend this facility to anyone struggling with addiction.

San Diego Detox is a world class facility and a gorgeous spa-like campus filled with natural beauty that will restore your soul. Going there literally saved my life. The staff are out of this world and make recovery, which is awful, especially in the early days, a supported and positive experience of personal discovery, reflection, growth, and community. If you are searching for a place to heal, this is the place you should go. You will find amazing staff who support your health holistically to include your body, mind, and spirit, and helping you learn how to live life to the fullest in sobriety and recovery. 10/10 would recommend and cannot say enough good things about this program.

I have struggled with alcohol abuse for the last three years and this was the ONE place out of 23 treatment centers that finally worked. Nobody ever thought they would see me sober, but today I can say I am, thanks to Sober Life. I was a frequent relapser, just barely making it by, and when I decided to seek treatment through Sober Life a whole new world opened for me. The team at Sober Life cares. I felt valued, I felt empowered, understood and heard. After being in and out of so many treatment centers I found myself fatigued, but through my process with Sober Life I actually wanted to continue my program as long as I could. I WANTED to be there and I've learned a life I never knew possible thanks to the team there. I can say that this program likely saved my life, and showed me a new life that I could never have imagined. The support and understanding was beyond belief. I felt so safe there. I've made friendships with a lot of my peers from groups as well. Which I never wanted to do before. Recovery can be difficult to begin, scary to start, but Sober Life feels SAFE. I'm not the type to write reviews, but I know how hard I struggled and for anyone reading this or questioning a start, I highly recommend this team. I am eternally grateful for my experience there.

Sober life has been one of the best experiences in my life! I came in not really sure what I wanted out of treatment and scared to really connect with people and have them see me in my weaker moments. All of the staff at sober life loved me through these issues and helped me get to a place where I felt safe and comfortable enough to communicate what was really going on with me, and gave me the tools I needed to be able to deal with things as they came up on a daily basis. Anytime I was a little off or lost any amount of momentum, they noticed immediately and did whatever they could to make sure I continued my progress and that even though addiction is a lonely disease, it became a lot easier to believe I wasnt alone and recovery is possible. It wasn't complicated at all, they handle the insurance stuff for you so you can focus and prioritize your recovery over anything else. Kimberly, Dan, Ashley, and Kelley have all been huge grounding stones in my recovery, showing up every time and helping me make solutions out of chaos. Having all of these amazing, kind, and extremely dependable people in my life has kept me steady and also taught me what having people around who genuinely love you, want the best for you, and who celebrate your achievements and help you through your downfalls looks like. Like any recovery program, you have to want it and put in your own effort, but they make the weight just lighter enough that it seems much more attainable.

This place was great, I had a wonderful experience. It's low client, great staff and a safe place for when you truly need it. I specifically enjoyed the low client aspect of it. The groups feel personal and urges you to share and process things once you are done detoxing. Plus the house is beautiful and the property sits on top of a hill far away from any distractions so it is as quiet as North County SD can get. The owner is genuine and cares for your sobriety. Wow, I am so grateful for Restore and the incredible team and their unconditional love! The home is beautiful and the view breathtaking, but the care, connection and joy of the team are the pillars of Restore.
I have been to dozens of detox and treatments centers over the last 10 years and Restore is the first place that has helped me get to the heart of the matter- I cannot recover alone. Restore taught me how to work a simple AA program, give my fears away to my god, and speak my truth authentically to connect with others. Restore's program supported my recovery in all facets- mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. And one of the most amazing parts that NO other place offers- it is welcoming FOREVER to alumni! Steven's house meetings are the most powerful tool in my recovery toolbox. I go to Restore at least 2x a week for house meetings along with other alumni and have the joy of seeing Steven, staff, and alumni at outside AA meetings throughout the week.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Restore, for teaching me recovery is possible.

My father has been attending this recovery place. Watching someone you love struggle is one of the most painful experiences life can offer. My father’s journey with addiction affected not only him, but our entire family. This rehab gave my dad a chance to step away from the chaos and begin to face the pain that fueled his addiction. This place has treated him greatly and I'll be forever grateful for what they have done. Since entering the program a few months ago, he has begun the hard work of healing. I finally feel like I have my dad back and could not be more thankful for the staff and everyone else included, truly. I HIGHLY recommend this place for someone and/or a family member struggling with addiction.

Life-Changing Experience at Pacific Bay Recovery Center
As a mom, choosing a rehab for my son was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. After researching countless facilities in San Diego, we decided on Pacific Bay Recovery Center, and I can confidently say it was the best decision we ever made.
Pacific Bay didn’t just help my son recover—they saved his life. From the very beginning, they treated him like family. The care and compassion from every staff member, from the therapist and psychiatrist to the case managers, were unparalleled. They didn’t just see my son as another patient; they truly invested in his well-being and future.
The individualized attention he received made all the difference. The therapists were deeply insightful, helping him understand and address the root causes of his struggles. The psychiatrist provided thoughtful, expert guidance, and the case managers were a source of constant support, ensuring he stayed on track every step of the way.
Beyond the clinical care, the atmosphere at Pacific Bay is warm and welcoming—a safe haven for anyone seeking to rebuild their life. They created a nurturing environment where my son felt seen, heard, and valued.
Today, my son is thriving, and it’s all thanks to the dedicated team at Pacific Bay. I am forever grateful to them for giving me my son back and helping him rediscover hope, purpose, and joy. If you’re looking for a place that goes above and beyond to treat your loved one with the care they deserve, I cannot recommend Pacific Bay Recovery Center highly enough.

This alcohol detox San Diego substance abuse rehabilitation center saved my life. It was unlike the other California drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers that I attended prior. Their medical doctors provided me with a detailed treatment plan. This plan started at their alcohol detox centers San Diego then put me into their inpatient drug rehabs San Diego program. This is where their treatment process differed. They performed a dual diagnosis. This got to the root of my addiction. I had several co-occurring disorders that were left untreated by other addiction treatment centers. While in the residential inpatient program I had one on one meetings with their credentialed substance abuse counselors. These sessions were difficult but helped me address my addiction problems head on. I have been clean for 6 months and finally am getting my life back. Thank you, Harmony Grove Recovery.

Harmony Grove Recovery is the best alcohol rehab in San Diego hands down. Their alcohol detox San Diego program is medically supervised. They gave me medication assisted treatment that not only reduced the painful withdrawal that I usually experience, but they almost eliminated it. They were my first choice because I saw that they accepted most health insurances. The alcohol detox lasted 8 days. After completing that, I went to their residential inpatient drug rehabs San Diego program. I highly recommend this California drug and alcohol addiction treatment center.

Encinitas, CA | AToN Center is an addiction rehabilitation facility for adults aged 18 or older in Encinitas, California. They provide substance use programs that are tailored to an individual’s specific needs. Their services are a combination of group activities, medication regimens, and mental health support. Clients will participate in five individual therapy | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I cannot recommend AToN Center highly enough. Jim and Patricia founded AToN for deeply personal reasons, and their commitment to creating a supportive, evidence-based, individualized, empowering, and holistic treatment experience definitely shows. From the moment I arrived, I felt safe and supported, and I was treated with dignity and respect. The program emphasizes treating addiction alongside issues such as trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions rather than focusing solely on substance use. AToN Center embraces the notions that shame does not promote recovery and a single modality does not successfully meet the needs of every individual who is seeking recovery. AToN is unique in providing individual sessions with licensed mental health providers daily (Monday-Friday), which can include EMDR and IFS/parts work. The family session helped my husband and me move toward healing our relationship. In addition to having group and individual therapy sessions, we had the option of holistic sessions including massage therapy, yoga, personal training, acupuncture, mindfulness/meditation, sound bath, hiking, and (most importantly ;) pickleball. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, and the chef-prepared meals are delicious and made with care (so much so that I gained 5 pounds haha). Most of the staff seem to have been touched by addiction, and their compassion, curiosity, and encouragement shine through. As a mental health professional, meeting and connecting with other professionals who struggle with addiction and trauma was such a validating experience. Because of horror stories I had heard about other residential treatment centers, I was frightened to go to AToN, but now I couldn't be more grateful (including that my insurance covered treatment). If only this program was available in every state; the world would be a much better place.

There are experiences that change the texture of your life — and then there is Aton. I came here not knowing quite what to expect. I am leaving a different person. Not a repaired version of who I was. Someone new. Someone I actually recognize.
I have been in all sorts of expensive therapy for twenty years, yet I have never worked with clinicians and staff members of this caliber. The excellence here is real, but what makes it rare is that it lives alongside genuine, unhurried care. It sort of felt revolutionary to discover that people like this exist.
The clinical breadth is extraordinary — EMDR, IFS, CBT, DBT, ACT, hypnotherapy, and hybrid methodologies that meet you exactly where you are and help chart your own path forward.
The group sessions deserve their own mention. Capped at six people, they never feel like group therapy in the way you might dread or see in the movies. Each session presents real tools you can actually see yourself using in the the real world, neurobiological explanations of the brain-body connection, Melinda's amazing jokes, and honest conversation about what it actually means to recover, not simply abstain.
But Aton understands something most treatment centers don't: healing is not only a mental act. The holistic modalities — massage, acupuncture, personal training, physical therapy, private yoga, and hypnotherapy — are not amenities. They are medicine. And they invite you to receive all of it in a luxurious residential estate setting with lushly landscaped grounds that are, frankly, breathtaking.
And the food — I am a committed, health-conscious eater, and Aton's epicurean program is world-class. Not a single lunch or dinner repeated. Breakfasts that feel abundant. And all dietary needs or preferences accommodated.
I came to Aton to work on myself. What I didn't expect was to fall into a relationship with myself — and leave with self-love for the first time. That is not a small thing. That is everything.
If you are considering Aton: go. Let these people love you and remind you that you are everything!. Whatever version of you arrives, something truer, new, and exceptional is waiting on the other side.

We especially appreciated the small group setting (only about six kids), which allows for individualized attention and meaningful peer connections.
She benefited from both traditional therapy (individual, group, and family) and experiential therapies like equine and surf—she can’t wait to surf again!
Most importantly, she left with real skills she’s already using at home. My daughter’s mental health symptoms showed up at age thirteen. It seemed like overnight we went from having a typical child who enjoyed spending time with family, playing with friends, reading books, going on outings to just wanting to die. It was a very scary and confusing place for our family. I tried and tried to find providers who could help her. She went to multiple providers and programs with little change. After our insurance changed, we were able to start treatment at Evolve. From the very beginning, I felt that we were in good hands. The staff are well trained and the program is well designed. My daughter’s behaviors and our family’s communication patterns changed dramatically. After four years of feelings as if I had lost my daughter, I have my daughter back. I’m grateful that the providers at Evolve have extensive knowledge and experience with teens with mental health issues, and we finally got the help we needed!

Evolve did wonders for our teen. I'm sure it's hard for them to get reviews as this is such a private matter. The whole process is utterly heartbreaking. You don't end up here because you wanna be here. That being said they worked with us as a family so well. I really liked that. They involve you in the treatment and try to ensure that you will have the tools necessary to help your child continue on their path of healing. The path is BUMPY, and it heartbreaking. I remember graduating out of program thinking I don't know if I am ready to do it without them. They helped us navigate tough topics and issues our teen would shut down on us with. Helped us see each other's sides. Helped our teen see themeself. When we graduated out were ok and we did move forward on our own. As a family we are so thankful for the staff at Evolve and the forever impact they have made on our child's life. The skills they shared, our kiddo still uses. Our kiddo really had a connection to the staff. There was also a pet lizard that meant a lot to our kiddo. There's so much I could say about this place. But the biggest is just two words FOREVER THANKFUL.

This program is a blessing! I learned a lot about myself here at this program and graduated with so many helpful tools to use in the real world. The staff here is amazing and very helpful, my counselor made sure I had everything I needed to succeed and gave me quality advice at any given time I needed someone to talk to or direction to the right person if she didn't know herself. This is a safe place to be to get yourself right. Be prepared to work for it but I promise it is worth it. Finding the right help for my brother was one of the most stressful situations our family has ever faced. While searching for rehab in San Diego, I initially focused on detox San Diego options, and that search led me to Shoreline Recovery Center. Choosing this program turned out to be one of the best decisions we could have made.
From the first phone call, the staff was patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely responsive. They explained the treatment process clearly and helped our family understand what effective drug treatment in San Diego and alcohol treatment in San Diego should involve. That transparency gave us confidence during a very uncertain time.
Throughout my brother’s stay, communication with the family was consistent and respectful. It was clear he was receiving structured, professional care. What stood out most was the level of detail that went into discharge and aftercare planning. Shoreline provided thoughtful recommendations that included therapy, psychiatry, and step down options such as IOP in San Diego, which helped create a realistic path forward.
Since completing treatment, the changes in my brother have been significant and encouraging. He is healthier, more stable, and actively engaged in his recovery. For families searching for addiction recovery San Diego, I would strongly recommend Shoreline Recovery Center.

We came to Shoreline Recovery Center after a long and exhausting search for help for our child. When researching rehab in San Diego, we were overwhelmed by options and conflicting information. Our initial focus was on finding a safe and reputable detox San Diego program, and Shoreline was recommended during that process. Choosing them turned out to be a pivotal decision.
What stood out immediately was the level of organization and professionalism. The intake process was thorough, expectations were clearly explained, and questions were addressed promptly. It was evident that the program has a strong foundation in evidence based drug treatment in San Diego, rather than relying on vague promises or one size fits all approaches.
During treatment, we observed consistent structure and accountability, which was reassuring as a parent. The program emphasized responsibility, clinical oversight, and forward planning. The discharge process was especially well thought out, with practical aftercare guidance that included therapy coordination and PHP San Diego options, helping ensure continuity rather than abrupt transition.
Since completing treatment, our child has maintained stability and direction, which we attribute in large part to the planning and expectations set during care. For parents navigating addiction recovery San Diego, Shoreline Recovery Center offers a level of professionalism and follow through that is difficult to find.

Villa Kali Ma gave me something I hadn’t found anywhere else — a truly whole approach to healing grief, trauma, and any unhealthy coping behaviors. The therapists are deeply skilled and trauma-informed, meeting you exactly where you are without rushing the process. San Diego, CA | Located in San Diego, California, Soledad House offers women experiencing alcohol and substance use disorder a wide variety of treatment options. Recognizing that women have unique treatment needs, their certified addictions professionals provide holistic and evidenced based treatment options to meet their client’s mind, body and spiritual needs. | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I didn’t come to Soledad because I “wanted help.”
I came because I was out of options.
By the time I made that call, I was completely desperate—emotionally, mentally, and spiritually drained. I felt alone, without hope, and I was slowly killing myself. I thought I had everything I once prayed for but, I could no longer feel joy or happiness. I was in complete darkness and a big black hole that I couldn't dig out of. I wasn’t living anymore… I was just existing and a shell of a person.
And that’s when Soledad stepped in—and changed and saved my life.
I came into the program not fully honest with myself, stuck in a prison of my own making. I believed leaving my responsibilities was impossible, and I was terrified of judgment. But desperation has a way of opening doors you never thought you’d walk through. With nowhere else to turn, I said yes.
From the moment I arrived, the staff, counselors, and volunteers met me with a kind of love I didn’t know how to receive. They showed up for me when I couldn’t show up for myself. They loved me when I couldn’t love myself—and that was the beginning of everything changing.
What I gained here goes far beyond putting down alcohol. Yes, alcohol was destroying me—but it was never the real problem. It was my solution to something much deeper.
By simply showing up, being willing, and taking suggestions, I started to see patterns I had been blind to my entire life. I realized how much I resented myself. How deeply I hated myself. I never felt like I was enough.
I’ve always been a people pleaser. I poured everything I had into others, hoping to feel valued, only to end up feeling rejected, second choice, and alone. I didn’t know how to navigate relationships, and I lived with the belief that if people would just be kind and do what I thought was right, I’d finally be okay.
What I didn’t understand was this: when I was pouring into others, I was trying to give them what I so desperately needed myself.
I had everyone else’s back—but I never had my own.
I set impossible expectations—for myself and for others. I chased perfection, and because perfection doesn’t exist, I was constantly left disappointed. That cycle kept me stuck, resentful, and in pain.
This program helped me break that cycle.
I'm leaving Soledad a better person—with real tools and a new way of living. I’m equipped to do life. I’ve learned how to pause, how to reflect, and how to respond instead of react. I’m no longer rushing to fix everything. I take life one moment at a time, one day at a time—and I actually find joy in the process.
For the first time in my life, I can celebrate myself.
I can look in the mirror with confidence, amazement, and strength—and truly believe: I am enough. I am strong. I am amazing. I am beautiful. I am a badass.
I look at myself now the way I used to look at people I wished I could be.
The pain I carried was anchored deep, and I know this journey doesn’t end here. Recovery is something I’ll continue to prioritize, because I want to keep everything I’ve been given. And what I’ve been given is nothing short of a miracle—my life, my joy, my peace. Not just restored, but better than I’ve ever experienced, even before alcohol.
I wake up without panic. I feel calm. I feel grounded. Things that once felt impossible are now manageable.
And maybe the greatest gift of all—I finally have my own back.
If you’re at a loss… if you’re desperate… if you’re scared, terrified, or worried about what people will think—make the call.
This is the place you want to be.
Give yourself the chance to live. You will receive more than you ever thought possible.
There is something better—and it’s waiting for you here.
