My experience at California Behavioral Health was absolutely amazing. CBH helped me so much with my recovery and I am now on the right path. The staff are so great and really care. The group therapy and individual therapy was very good. The rooms were very nice and the food was delicious. We got to go on many fun outings too to see that we can have fun sober. I went to Kiloby for 6 months. the work they do at the center is very rewarding and changed my life. With that being said, it is a smaller treatment center with a small number of staff which results in a disorganized feeling to the program and a LOT of repeat groups which got very boring. Plus a lot of time is spent sitting around doing 'self support' because they don't have enough staff to run groups and do one on one sessions at the same time. And don't be fooled when you hear them say this is not a 12 step program; 12 step meetings are MANDATORY. and one last thing: I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEIR SOBER LIVING... unless you like sleeping in very cheap bunk beds and tight quarters with upwards of 8-9 people at a time. I am not saying I don't think this is a good program, because it is and I got a lot out of it but I think there is a lot of room for improvement from Kiloby. Give it a try if you want to try something different that really gets to the core of your issues.
Update, 5 years later: After re-reading my review, and the reviews of others who have left a rating, I truly think The Kiloby Center deserves at least a 4-4.5 Star rating. On reflection, the work I did here changed my life more than any of the other programs I've been to. The comments I made about the sober living seem so trivial now.. I can honestly say, for a smaller treatment center, Kiloby did their best and still managed to make a bigger impact on my life than any other 'rehab'/program. I can't say thank you enough. this place gave me an entirely new point of view.

The Kiloby Center was my first experience of mindfulness, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. It changed my life and I practice the living inquiries and listen to the guided meditations daily. A wonderful place where my friend was receiving treatment. Today, we received disheartening news about the county fabricating an excuse for a delayed document to shut them down. I went here over a year ago and at first I hated it. Not the people but the program. I want many willing to Focus on myself and what I needed to work on. The family therapy is what saved me. Looking back on it now if I didn’t do the family therapy my mom wouldn’t have changed her outlook and I wouldn’t be where I am today with out the therapist nick. So shoutout to you and this program.

TLC has been nothing but great for me. I’ve been to multiple different rehabs and outpatient centers, but this has by far been a life changing experience for me. Without Michael’s House, and Michael’s House Transitional Living Center I would probably be dead by now. The staff is truly compassionate and knows exactly what it’s like to be in the grasp of addiction. The care they provide is unmatched and truly magical. Andrew the coordinator is very active with all the patients and plans amazing trips for all to in treatment to enjoy. He’s very important to the overall morale to the people there. Been there twice and it took traction during round two back on New Year’s Day 2021. Recovery and Rehab you can get whatever you want. Their curriculum at the Ranch is successful just like at different recovery treatment centers. So surrender and go with their program, or you can’t do anything and figure you “got this” or maybe do shady things even there. Your choice, surrender and take it in and try something new, or loiter with intent and see how it works out for you. First tried AA on 12-01-2007 but never surrendered ( figuring I got this) but when I gave up, surrendered, and wanted it no matter what, I finally got sober, do the math on my sobriety and waisted 13 years trying to do it my way. So in AA, or, NA you can do or get everything you want. I want to be sober and nothing else. I surrendered 100% 01-01-21. Thanks Mike and the rest of team and family from the Ranch for saving me.

I came to this facility after a really hard run with narcotics and alcohol, I had some time sober before and knew it was time to seek help. I was familiar with the company from a previous experience with one of there Florida locations. I spent more time at this location and am super glad I did. The staff are all very helpful and understanding and the food they provide is great. They work with numerous insurance plans and the intake call was easy. They understood my needs right away and groups very informative. The outings are a lot of fun they really set you up for success before it’s time to go.

Passages changed my life. It is not easy - in fact it’s really, really hard. If you’re committed to doing it the right way - you are going to wind up dealing with a lot of painful issues and hurts - and all without your substance of choice to numb the pain. But - you will be supported every step of the way. The staff is WONDERFUL and so genuinely happy for the progress you make. The other clients become your closest friends and there is nothing you can say there that will shock anyone. There is zero judgment, just support and kindness and encouragement. Even post discharge they have weekly in person and online alumni groups which are fantastic and the facilitators of those groups genuinely care. Other than becoming a mom, Passages is the best thing that ever happened to me. I’m forever grateful.

Overall my experience was great! One of the things I was disappointed most with was the inability to have access to a gym while in treatment. In my opinion self care in recovery requires inclusivity of our physical health and well being. During admissions it was promised that it would be available once on site. This was not the case after arrival. However, I trusted the direction of my Case Manager Nicole who was an outstanding person and able to take care of all my needs while in treatment she was AMAZING! In addition, my Therapist Melissa was wonderful to work with. Melissa's ability to connect with me and recommend excellent coping skills helped me in ways I didn't think were possible. It took openness and willingness to allow those processes to take effect. I had a really good stay at treatment even though my expectations fell short of what I thought would be included after my arrival here. I look forward to the future ahead now that I'm discharging. Best of luck to anyone coming to South Coast for a treatment program.

If you want what they have to offer and are willing to make the effort to get it I highly recommend Sharp McDonald center. The entire staff is beyond outstanding. Being alumni of 6 rehabs over the last 17 years, state funded and posh as £♡¿/<, this is, without a doubt, The Best. (notice the period)

Many, if not all treatment centers say they have “highly individualized” care. This place actually does. They bend over backwards to get everyone the specific care they need. I needed an AA meeting every day and a ride to the gym. They brought me EVERY day.
The staff at MHC is incredible with most of them being PHD level clinicians. But every one provides life changing therapy. EMDR, changed the way I thought. Trauma therapy told me that I make sense. DBT gave me the skills to handling anything. I wanted to die. I don’t anymore. They saved my life and there isn’t another place like it.

A great experience overall. Would love to specifically call out Doug, a therapist who works here. He, like so many other therapist at the MHC, did a really good job in individual sessions at really addressing the problem and being honest. It seems like he really cares about his patients and has been doing great work. Sarah as well. Those are the two I would reach out to call about.
